Seven looked around the remains of what was his families home. The male sighed as he set down his bag and set about to check over some of the dry wall he managed to salvage a few apartments away. He knew no one was coming back, his home street was hit pretty hard. The building he grew up in was lucky. He looked out the shattered window, the building next to his....not so much. He sighed.

"Buck up, Seven. Your Pa would kick your tail if he knew how you've been acting." He muttered to himself before standing, "Now...where the hell did I put that damn notebook?"

Said notebook was laying on what remained of a table not too far from the...well...what once was the front door.

To be perfectly honest, Proto wasn't exactly sure just what had gotten into him. For the most part he was pretty content to just hang out at the Tower unless his work otherwise called for it. ....Or Wily managed to drag him out.

But today he had felt overly antsy, and he just couldn't get a few things out of his mind. For one, things that happened on those dark streets the other night. And...for another...a particular listing he had seen on a known citizen bulletin board.

Yes, citizens, he read those too.

So rather than sit around, Proto had thrown on his disguise and taken to the streets. There were a few things different in his disguise than from the other day. For one...his gun was nowhere to be seen. Two hands, like a normal Audio! For another, he was carrying something with him...

It wasn't terribly long before someone showed up at Seven's doorstep...well, whatever was left of it. The cloaked Audio stepped inside, announcing his presence by setting the heavy box of tools on the ground. These weren't scavenged tools from the rubble of the City. No...these were nice tools. Battery powered where it was required, so a lack of electricity wouldn't deter the work.

Seven jumped with a puppy-isque squeak then whirled around to face the newcomer. His mismatched eyes went wide as his mind clicked with the person standing there. The first thing out of his mouth was....

"Oh...there's the notebook..."
he said looking down at the table right next to Proto. Then it was, "What the hell are you doing here?!?" that was directed at the Bot General. Seven relaxed some just staring and blinking at the male before him. Seriously contemplating jumping out of the 2nd Story window behind him.

....Sigh. Of course he was going to be questioned. And why shouldn't he! After all it wasn't every day that one of Wily's crew showed up to help you now was it?

Proto dug in his cloak for a moment, pulling out the listing that Seven had posted. He set it down on top of the notebook, moving to next pull his cloak hood away from his head.

Yep...still wearing those sunglasses.

"...Though the listing didn't call for it, I thought you might appreciate some help from those who -don't- need a place to stay."

Seven walked forward, stopping to look down at the listing then back up to the sunglasses wearing Audio. The male smiled, something that on a normal Audio was pretty charming. He chuckled, hiding his grin behind a hand before speaking, "Thanks. Again. I do appreciate the help. I don't think I'll get anyone else in here." He would of clasped the male's shoulder to further prove his gratitude.

But...out of fear of losing a hand. Kept the movement to himself. He walked back into what was the living room. Feeling the need to explain the apartment a little he did so, "Where I'm standing was the living room. I tossed the furniture a while back cause it was beyond saving. Too burnt up...the collapsed wall there is actually the connecting wall to my little brother's room. Your standing in the former entryway, small dining room and open kitchen." He looked at the kitchen, "Which my Ma always said she wanted to remodel anyways." his following chuckle was hallow. The male walked to where the hallway started. At the end was the collapsed ceiling. It looked as if someone had gotten through it once.

Seven shivered, "Down the hall is my room, currently completely blocked off. The Bathroom...sorta blocked. I managed to get in there. Good news. Water's running over in this area now at least. The...bedroom at the end is my parents room..." he trailed off. Shaking his head he looked at the General, "So...where do you think we could start. All I've really been able to do is clean up..."

Which if one looked around, the male did rather well. All things considered.

..Proto had a thing about being touched, so it was likely a very good thing that Seven kept the friendly gesture to himself. As the other Audio explained the apartment, Wily's General turned his head slightly to glance around the apartment.

Well.....it was certainly a -wreck-.

However, it was clear that work had been done to it. And since none of the other family members that Seven was mentioning seemed to be around...Proto could guess that he had done the work on his own. This was something that the bot could appreciate. Hard working citizens, that's what he liked to see! Even if his general attitude towards them was one of discomfort and hatred. Sure, he was here to help...but if Seven studied him long enough he could likely catch the unease in the other's behavior.

"...I can see about unblocking the rest of the apartment."
He was a robot, he could lift and move more than a normal Audio. And, in the off chance something collapsed on him, he'd likely be fine. ...Unlike Seven.

"Wasn't sure what tools you would need, so I just brought some. I'll need them back when I leave."
Wily likely wouldn't like his tools gone forever!

The spoiler is for in case its too dark for the shop

Seven smiled then nodded, "Understandable about the tools and yeah...I think you can handle the clearing. Just put what you drag out in the middle of the room I'm standing in. Might be able to reuse the more intact pieces."

The male walked over to a table against the wall, surprisingly stable and a few scorched framed pictures still sat on top of it. The most notable was a picture where a much younger Seven stood between two adult Audio's. The female Audio was holding a swaddled pup as the male had a hand clasped on the young Seven. The male looked away from the picture to the blockade down the hall. He blinked away tears before shaking his head looking back to Proto, "So..." he walked to the hallway, "Want me to lend a hand or do you think you got this?" he asked with a quirked brow.

That's where he found his parents. Both had been untouched by the flames, instead from what Seven found out later. They had died from smoke inhalation. His mother had always been terrified of heights, most likely when the ceiling collapsed instead of leaping out of the window to the dumpster below. His father must of laid down with her to calm her panic. The two died in each others arms.

Proto's ears swiveled around before returning to their usual position of pressed against his head. For how long they spent jammed up in a helmet anyway, it was just the most comfortable position to keep them in. Even if it perpetually made him look pissed off. ...The usual scowl on his face didn't help matters.

The other's mood wasn't lost on him. It was clear that a tragedy had occured here, most likely from the fire that had destroyed so much. It just wasn't in Proto to respond to it. He had too much of his own emotional baggage to carry around.

He was, at least, biting back any rude remarks. So that was something.

"I will be fine. Use the time to work on other things, I'll get this unblocked for you."
Proto stretched his arms above his head before heading down the hall to the blockade. It wasn't all that long before the bot started hauling things to the specified place for Seven to look over. If anything, General Proto was a hard worker.

Seven shifted through the deberis as Proto set them down. The male got a few good pieces looking over the rest. Silence was never really something he liked, he figured Proto did but the citizen felt uneasy with the silent general.

"Seven isn't my real name." mentally smacking himself for saying it he sighed, "My parents actually couldn't decide on a name for me. So...I have seven names besides my family name. The very middles of these names was given to me by my Godfather. The first three by Ma, the last three by Pa. Growing up wasn't any fun until a kid started calling me "Seven". After that, it stuck."

Oh he felt like a idiot for spouting that off...he was getting uneasy and damn Proto was a hot guy. Damn hot guys and their ability to make him spout random s**t.

Proto suppressed an annoyed groan. Really, he didn't come here for a conversation! And yes, he did enjoy silence. Very much so.

"Proto isn't my original name either."
But...he wasn't going to offer any further information than that. He was, however, quite thankful he didn't have seven designations. That was just too many to keep up with for one bot. Or Audio. Or whatever.

The bot brought more debris from the hallway, kneeling to set it down by Seven so he could go through it.
"....Finding anything of use?"
There. He asked a question, probed for a conversation...it was almost -friendly-. For him, at least.

Seven didn't jump when the General got close, nope not at all. His tail flattened though. That didn't mean he got scared...sorta...kinda....all right. Proto made a small part of Seven's soul fly out of his chest with the proximity of the other male. He blinked gathering himself before speaking, "Yeah...a few pieces I can use to rebuild the wall behind us."

He gestured to the connecting wall between the living room and his little brother's room. He felt the silence again before speaking tiredly, "Sorry. I'm putting you out of your comfort zone."

Hey...Seven may of appreciated eye candy, but even he knew what long periods of silence meant...unease and usually icy beds.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 5:04 am

"I put myself here, not the other way around. Don't be concerned for my...comfort. I am just not much of a conversationalist."

Unless there was something he was panicking about. Then Wily or one of the other Masters got an earful. Citizens just weren't the type he opened up to. Not after what had happened.

Proto glanced back at the wall in need of repair.
"I...believe I saw something on the way over that might help. I will go get it."

He was up and out the door before any discussion otherwise could be made. Maybe...he was just going to make a break for it and not come back?

....Nah, he did come back. With an armful of relatively untouched materials that would work nicely with the previous pile of stuff to repair the wall. These new items were placed down with the others before the General went back to clearing the rest of the hallway.

Seven watched him go, he totally expected the other male to grab the tool bag and leave. He was genuinely surprised Proto came back. He couldn't help the small smile before standing to overlook the new materials. Oh yeah...these were good. He then walked back to the wall. Glad he had cleared out the broken pieces he did a while back. Mentally he started to size up the wall then compare it to the pieces on the floor. He remembered something, leaning around the corner to call down the hall to Proto; "You don't have to worry about any surprises in my parents room. I managed to squeeze into there. Its cleared. The fire barely reached this place.....well, except for the front door."

He looked at where there wasn't a door anymore. Mentally wondering what the hell he was going to do about that.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 5:25 am

....Yep, his suspicions had been right. Many things had been lost in the fire, including lives....and it stood to reason that citizens were being forced to rebuild in places where their loved ones had passed. It....was not the nicest thought.

Proto made a noise to acknowledge what was said, nothing more than a grunt really, and continued his work. It didn't take him all that much longer to get the hallway cleared out...at the very least it'd be much easier for Seven to get around now and continue work on the place. Maybe easier to get some roommates now too since there was....well. Room.

The bot brought a final armful of things out and laid them on the floor. He was silent, as usual, for a few moments before finally speaking up.

"...You need a front door."
It was a fact. He didn't have one and it was a good thing to have. Proto didn't really put it past the citizens to loot each other...and an open entryway would be too much of an invitation to pass up.

Seven bit back the smart a** retort of 'What was your first clue General Obvious? You walked right on it!' he really did. What looked like him leaning through the wall to look at the other side was actually him swallowing the retort as soon as it entered his mind.

'Be smart about this Seven...this guy could totally kill your a** here and now without a second thought. Just don't say something stupid.' "Yep." he managed to get out. He gathered himself before looking at the other male, "So far I've been lucky and no one's tried anything cuz they remember my Pa. He had a lot of respect around here."

True, Seven's Pa was known...for unsavory reasons, but known. The male had once kicked a few street punks out of the building for harassing a few of the young girls who Seven played with as a kid. Before the medics arrived the punks were fine. It was when one of them called the male 'old geezer' that Seven's mother sighed before calling the medics. Seven feared his father without his trademark smile on after that.
