The areas of Soragakure where a fair portion of the normal citzenry lives, many of these buildings are simple two or three story apartment complexes. The recent damage from the Fall though, has made many unlivable.

Ronnel moved through the city streets, down past the flow of the downtown area, and into what could properly be called the residential area of the city. At least, the residential area for the normal civilians. But that was the reason he was here, the civilians were some of the worst hit during the Fall, and now it was time to help them get back on their feet. Looking around as he walked down the rubble-filled street, Ronnel knew that his and Magnus' time was going to be very, very busy while they were here. But at least it would be something worthwhile. Speaking of his partner...

"Sorry about mis-naming you back there, didn't realize you went by another name." Ronnel sent this out, trying to use the analogy that the other man had given him, a hallway filled with rooms. Of course, for now, only a few 'doors' were closed off, and they were more to see if he could actually do that. At this moment in time, he wanted to be able to react and respond in case Magnus saw someone who needed help immediately before he did. Currently, the white-haired medic was walking towards one of the three story high-rises, one that looked like the top half was folding over and about to fall down. That seemed like it would be a good place to start for their activities here.

And he was right, all-too right. As Ronnel got closer he saw that there was a young man walking down the street, pushing a basket on wheel full of what looked like destroyed furniture along. That wouldn't have caught the shinobi's attention, if it wasn't for that fact that his right arm was cradled against his chest, and even from a short distance away Ronnel could tell that blood was staining the sleeve of the shirt over that arm. He altered his steps and headed towards the civilian, who paused and looked up with half-lidded eyes as someone came near him.

"Hm. Low level of shock, coupled with bloodloss. While you aren't critical, you do need treatment sooner rather than later." Ronnel's manner and mood shifted entirely as he stepped close to the man, his crescent-pupiled eyes roving over the man quickly. He nodded when the man slowed to a stop and leaned on the basket with his good arm, obviously trying to focus on the conversation. "Relax, I'm a medic, sent to help. My teammate will be along shortly to help you and the others start recovering things from the building, but in the meantime, let me do my job if you would." Ronnel raised an eyebrow, catching the mixed relief and disbelief on the man's face. The civilian held out his injured arm, and Ronnel quickly tore the sleeve away, revealing a gash in the man's arm that ran down the extent of his forearm.

"Ouch. Right then, to work." Ronnel's first step was to uncap a bottle of water and pour some of it into the wound, drawing a wince from the man. Moving quickly, he did something not many medics would think to do at this stage, probably because he had to make due with other techniques he knew instead of proper medical techniques. He formed a small water ninjutsu using the bloody water from the wound, drawing out not only the water and blood, but also the contaminants that had been in the wound from the man's need to work.

"Now then..." He let the ninjutsu collapse to the street beside his impromptu patient, and his hands began to glow green. Slowly, carefully, Ronnel used the Healing Hands technique, pumped up with Lunar Chakra, to pull the wound closed. Thankfully it wasn't deep, just large, and his current level of skill, coupled of course with overcharging the technique, was enough to heal the man. Now looking much better, the man sat down to rest as Ronnel looked around for the next person to help.

Ronnel Hanaya | Offensive Medic | Soragakure Genin

Ronnel dusted off his hands after shifting a small beam out of the doorway that he was trying to get through. Thankfully the person within - a young girl who couldn't have been more than ten years old - hadn't been badly injured, but she was hungry and weak from spending two days trapped in the room. There was a small drip of water, likely from a burst pipe, so she had been able to drink while trapped, but no one had been able to do more than get the food to her. It took channeling chakra through his limbs for Ronnel to be able to shift the beam out of his path, and as soon as he had the young girl barreled into him, wrapping her arms around his waist and thanking him repeatedly through tears.

"There there, it's alright. Let's get you back to your parents ne?" The little girl pulled back and looked up at him before nodding. The white haired medic hoisted the girl up and put her on his shoulders before making his way out of the condemned building. She was the last person actually trapped within the building, for which the moon-eyed medic was highly grateful. Now it was just up to Magnus to go through and recover some of the items for people, ones that he himself hadn't been able to reach.

Once the two of them were outside, the girl let out a delighted gasp and swarmed down off of Ronnel, making a beeline for an older man and a tired looking woman. She was screaming with delight, and the looks of relief on the couple's face made Ronnel smile slightly, happy to have been able to help them. He rolled his shoulders and looked around, wondering if there was anyone else who needed his immediate help at the moment, and froze when he saw someone bearing the headband of another village. The person looked to be helping, so Ronnel shook off his suspicion for the moment, though he did remain wary.

Then he found someone who did need his help, and his attention was diverted further. A young man lay crying on the street, clutching his leg with one hand. That would have been bad enough on its own, but Ronnel's eyes could make out an unhealthy white color between the boy's fingers. The shinobi rushed over and pulled the boy's hand away, and confirmed Ronnel's fear. His bone had broken, and ripped through the outer layers of flesh. Medical chakra immediately started flowing through Ronnel's hands, slowing the loss of blood and stemming some of the pain as Ronnel began speaking to the injured lad.

"Alright kiddo, stay with me here. I'm doing my best to reduce the pain, but what i have to do next is going to hurt. In order to help your leg heal, I'm going to have to do something really unpleasant." The tears slowed as Ronnel's calm, controlled voice pierced the fear that the boy had, and his eyes opened up to focus on the medic. "Good, good, that's it, stay with me. Ok, I'm going to have to push your bone back into your leg and get it to set." The boy whimpered. "I know kiddo, I know. And it's going to hurt. But it's the only way your leg is going to heal better. Can I do it?" Weakly, the boy nodded, and Ronnel took a deep breath. Then he paused, and took out one of the rolls of bandages he carried on him.

"Here, bite down on this." The boy took it with his cleaner hand and put it in his mouth, and when he had the medical ninja set to work. He focused his gaze on the injury, which was messy. A weak manipulation of water had pulled some of the blood away giving him a better look, and when he could see Ronnel let out a soft breath of relief. The break wasn't a splintering one, the bone had snapped quite cleanly, which meant no fragments of bone that would have to be removed. Before the boy could tense up and make this harder, Ronnel swiftly shoved the bone back down and into the leg, ignoring the scream of agony that the child let out. His hands now covered in blood, Ronnel prodded with one finger until he felt the edge of the bone that was in the right place, and with a slight push he was able to align the two edges.

Quickly he pulled his hands out of the wound, pumping more and more of his chakra through his healing hands in order to reduce the damage done. This wound was too great for his current level of skill to be able to fully heal up, but he was able to stem the worst of the bloodloss, and start the fusing of the bones. That done, he took the bandages from the boy, who was once more crying freely, and picked up a nearby piece of lumber that looked like it had seen better days. He snapped the plank in two, then one of the halves in half lengthwise, and made an impromptu splint with the wood. He wrapped this around the boy's leg, just as an older man came up to them.

It turned out this was the man's son, whom he had been looking for. Ronnel updated him on the injury the boy had, and told them to get to the nearest hospital for a better cast than the rough splint he had crafted. Thanking the shinobi, the boy and man headed off, the boy carried carefully in his father's arms.

Ronnel Hanaya | Offensive Medic | Soragakure Genin

It had been a few hours since he started this, but now Ronnel was done. Magnus hadn't shown up which worried the medic, but he had managed to cope without the others presence. It had drained his chakra to do so though.

That was because in order to get objects from within the crumbling building without endangering himself, he had been forced to reinforce the area he was in with chakra. It had kept the ruined floors from falling out from beneath him, and kept the walls the few times he walked on them from falling over, but in the end, it had run him ragged. But he had persevered, and ended up getting several goods from within. But now he was facing the last task that he had assigned himself, a final run through of the entire building from top to bottom to make sure that no one was still inside.

And now here he was up at the very top of the building, just inside the roof stairwell. He'd checked the roof already, and made sure no one had fallen asleep up there, now he had to work his way down through the building. Room by room he went, doing his best to make sure he checked inside each one. Twenty minutes later he had made sure that the top floor was empty - some clothes dressers and a small case of jewelry that me tucked into his pouch, noting the apartment that it had come from so he could track down the owners, and then he was on to the second floor.

Much like his expedition on the third floor had gone, Ronnel made it through the second floor almost without incident. When he got to a room that was connected to where he'd found the young girl earlier, he noticed a stuffed rabbit that was lying pinned beneath a fallen dresser. He slipped into the room carefully and made his way over to the furniture. With a deep breath he hoisted the wooden construction up and held it in the air, and kicked the rabbit away with his foot. Forgetting himself for just a moment he let the dresser drop back down more quickly than he should have, as he turned away to pick up the stuffed animal.

A cracking sound behind him heralded why that was a poor decision. Before the white haired Genin could react, the floor beneath him gave way, sending him tumbling to the first floor. He landed painfully on his back, blood dripping down one arm from a piece of wood that got lodged in it. His crescent-pupiled eyes opened slowly, to see the stuffed rabbit hanging in the air above him, balanced on a piece of floorboard that hadn't collapsed. He blinked, and when his eyes opened back up the rabbit was falling towards his face. He managed to catch it with his uninjured arm and sat up slowly, wincing as hemoved.

A couple of minutes later, devoted to brushing rubble off of his back and pants, and Ronnel staggered out of the room he had fallen into, cursing his luck under his breath as he did so. He tucked the rabbit underneath one arm as he completed his search of the apartment building. Ten minutes later he was walking out into the late evening sunlight, incredibly glad that there was no one else within. He looked around, and spotted the couple with the young girl who were now standing by a small fire. Gingerly he walked over to them, and when he got closer it was the little girl who saw him first.

At first she was confused as to why he was there, but when he knelt and held out the stuffed animal, the look of sheer joy on her face made his minor injuries worth it. She took it from him with a shriek of delight, and immediately ran to her mother, bouncing around as she showed off the toy. Ronnel pushed himself back to his feet and headed over to the man, and got information on who had owned the apartment where he'd found the jewelry case. It took a few minutes to find the woman, but she was relieved to see her box, which, she informed him, carried a few sentimental family heirlooms. Ronnel shook off her thanks and began walking back to the Kage's office, pausing slightly to bandage up his arm, not bothering to use chakra to heal the injury after pulling the wood out.

Ronnel headed back into the residential districts, a mission of an entirely different kind occupying his mind now. It had taken a day or two for the doctors to accept that he had healed fine after his fight with Floyd and his lackeys, and he was itching for action - hence he had chosen to go after the looters that were targeting the homes in this area, taking advantage of the devastation caused by the Fall. It was time to put a stop to it, or at least put a stop to those he could find perpetrating it. He was headed into a more rundown area of the city than the last time he had gone to this district, the homes here were more often than not hovels or very close to it. But since he had no idea where exactly this problem was coming from, he'd have to investigate. He frowned - that might be a problem, since anyone who saw him might very well decide not to loot until he had moved on. But how would he solve that?

Slowly a grin spread across the moon-eyed medic's lips. He had a solution, and it was one that was worthy of a shinobi. He turned down an alley nearby, waiting until no one was in sight in either direction, then slowly walked up the wall to the roof to avoid drawing attention. Once he was up on the roof he crouched down and headed to the edge, looking at what was nearby. THere were a few homes that looked abandoned, and didn't have their windows broken yet - that was a good sign that no looters had hit this area yet. He settled in, using the camouflage cloak that every ninja had at some point to mask his presence, and waited. Now to see if the looters would target this area while he was here...

Night came, and still no one had targeted the houses near the medical ninja. He was beginning to doubt that anyone would loot this area, when he noticed something. The street below him was now completely deserted, and he realized with a jolt that looters would have waited for lower traffic before they would make their move. He almost cursed his stupid move out loud when he spotted something down on the street, a flicker of movement that barely caught his eye. Without moving from underneath the cloak, Ronnel peered intently into the darkness, trying to figure out what it was that had caught his attention. If it had been a cat, he was giving up for the night and heading somewhere closer to shops or something, because this was get-

It wasn't a cat. It was a slender young man, dressed solidly in black. Ronnel almost shook his head - the kid was obviously trying to be stealthy, but any shinobi could tell you that solid colors were almost as bad as light or bright ones when trying to be unseen in the dark. A solid mass of a single color was a lot more noticeable than what the would-be thief should have done, which was dress in mottled clothes of browns and blacks. Ronnel shook off this introspection as he watched the man slowly approach one of the houses across from the ninja, and looked furtively around. When the looter saw that no one was on the street, he pulled something from a bag on his back - and Ron realized that the man before him was thinner than he'd originally thought - and swung it at the window nearest him.

It broke, but barely made a sand in doing so, and the ninja frowned. That was a neat trick to pull off, and it probably explained why no one had caught the looter in action before this. The ninja waited until the man was inside the building, then dropped to the ground, softening his fall by dragging a chakra-coated hand down the wall, landing with a soft puff of dust. He quietly walked over to the window the man had gone in through, and leaned against the wall, out of sight if the man looked out the window to check if the coast was clear.

It was about fifteen minutes later that the man came out the same window he went in through, and Ronnel nearly facepalmed at the audacity of the man. He had put himself here because it was a good spot to watch, not because he'd actually thought the man would climb back out through the same window! Casually the shinobi reached out with his foot and hooked the man's leg as he was getting out of the window, causing the man to fall face first into the dirt. That done, he placed his foot on that man's back, just below the bag that was now bulging with stolen goods.

"You know, it's not a nice thing to just steal from people like this." The person beneath his foot started wiggling, not saying a word, trying to escape, and Ronnel just pressed harder, anchoring the looter to his foot with chakra (using the tree walking technique on both of his feet kept him in place while keeping the thief pinned) shaking his head though the thief couldn't see it. "And to make it worse, instead of cutting when you got lucky the first few times, you kept pushing your luck. Unfortunately for you, that luck ran out. The name's Ronnel Hanaya, and I'm the shinobi assigned to stopping you." Before the looter could react, Ronnel kicked with his other foot, slamming it into the side of the looter's head quite hard. That done, he picked up the bag and tossed it back into the house through the window, then tossed the looter over his shoulder.

"Now then, where's the nearest prison point?"

Ronnel looked around as he walked back into the residential districts, this time much closer to the condemned buildings where he had first visited for a mission. His blue eyes took in the expressions on people's faces - many of them were barely lifted their gazes from the ground in front of them, dejection evident in their gait. While there were some people who were brighter, the majority of the citizens seemed depressed, and he sighed. It seemed that creating the Hanging Gardens hadn't been enough to help these people, they needed a more hands-on approach. Lucky for them, he wasn't adverse to taking just such an approach.

Ronnel clapped his hands, having coated them in wind chakra, which resulted in a loud report that had everyone near by looking at him in shock. The medic grinned and beckoned them to come closer, and when those nearest him were within easy talking distance he started to speak.

"Afternoon everyone! I'm glad to see everyone's still on their feet and alive, things are looking up now aren't they?" There was some discontent in the crowd, which he focused on. "What, you think they aren't?" Nods answered him. "Well, I suppose that might be because you're not acting like citizens of Soragakure!" Anger started to spread, but Ronnel held his hands up. "What I mean is, everyone's forgotten what it means to live here! We're the people of Sora, of the SKY!" He flung a hand upwards. "We lived in the clouds everyone, we strove to break through every limit!" He channeled chakra into his legs and hopped upwards, sticking to the wall behind him.

"But what I see now isn't what Soragakure is renowned for! Instead of casting your eyes skyward, striving to get back to where we belong, everyone here is plodding along on the ground, looking downwards. Our home will never ascend to where it once was if its inhabitants are intent on chaining it down!" He looked around, noting that many of the people were looking at each other in shock. "Now I know it's hard, believe me. Since the Fall, I've had to stop looters, someone who snuck into the village trying to ruin it, I've helped people who were hurt, found lost items. I'm one man, yet I've made a difference. So, who's going to help me make a difference? Who wants to help put Sora back into the sky where it belongs?" The crowd cheered slightly.

"Exactly! It won't be easy, but as long as we keep looking up, and pressing on, all of us, there will come a day where our home flies once more!" As he said this, Ronnel was slowly walking backwards up the wall, until he was on the roof's edge. He thrust a hand skyward, pointing up, as he finished speaking, then slipped backwards as the crowd cheered and split apart, spring in their steps once more. The teen shinobi wiped his brow once he was out of sight - public speaking was much harder than he had thought it would be.

"Something bothering you? Punch it.

Contrary to her usual pace, Misaki was walking slowly around the residential district. Their next mission wasn't going to fun at, at all. She couldn't believe that doing such boring and mundane missions was part of becoming stronger as a shinobi. Why would people be willing perform these tasks? Sure, the idolized ninja was selfless for their village and worked needlessly to improve it, but that wasn't she was about. Of course she was probably being over dramatic, but listening to old people drone on about their life stories was life threatening. Hopefully her ears wouldn't fall off. Elderly stories were as heavy as their sagging skin. The girl plopped down onto a bench and let out a groan, also throwing her hands up into the air.

"Whyyyyy! These dumb missions shouldn't be a requirement. Do we have to do this?" She complained.

Still bothering you? Punch it again."

Ronnel leaned against the back of the bench that Misaki had sat down on and shrugged slightly, not that the girl could really see it from her angle. The missions that he had taken to date so far had been mostly exciting, though the creating an attraction for the village could have been rather boring if he hadn't added personal flare to it. But he wasn't about to tell her that, not when he was having to convince her to actually do the mission so she had a bit more time to prepare for the B-rank. Those... were not easy.

"I suppose it's so we have a connection with our village, if we're just mercenaries who are never doing things within the walls to help the villagers, then there's more of a chance of us going rogue. I could be wrong, but that's my opinion on it." He was looking around the area as he spoke, noticing that the immediate vicinity was looking much, much better than it had back when he was last here. It would seem that his speech had roused the citizens in the area to work harder on reclaiming the glory of their home.

"And I'd say yes, just so that you don't have to do even more of them later on down the line. Think of these kinds of missions as the vegetables in a meal, before you can get to the good parts. And relax Ichi, we're basically getting paid to sit down and do nothing. I know it isn't your cup of tea, and it's not quite mine either, but..." He shrugged again, not really able to defend the mission they had to embark on. He hoped that at least it was someone interesting.
