Hello, I'm angel, and though I have been a fan of the anime sailor moon for a long time, I've never really gotten involved in the fandom. Now I find myself inspired to write a little fanfiction, so I have a few questions before I jump into it.

1. are people reading fanfictions for Sailor Moon, or is it more of a rollplay based fandom?

2. how do people feel about AU type stories. My idea revolves around the idea of the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, but not going back to the beginning, more looking at what life has been like and where they are heading. Also talking a lot about being in the 21st century but knowing what life is kind of supposed to be like in the 30th century - coming to terms with the idea that no one lives forever and that there has to be some kind of reincarnation for the 30th century plot to have any reality.

3. If i do decide to write this story would anyone be willing to help as a sounding board for ideas? I'm not really looking for a beta, but I need someone to throw ideas at.

1. There are a BAZILLION fanfics out there. I don't know how many people read them, but it seems like everyone and their mother writes one. rofl Myself included.

2. People write AUs all the time. I would like to note however that canon-wise, people of the 30th century are not reincarnated from their 20th century forms; they have an extended lifespan. (Unless you meant you were going to change the rules on that, in which case, have fun.)

Ah, super happy fun time.

1. Fanfics are a dime a dozen, but most outright suck. You really have to dig for gems in a sea of crap. At one time, role plays also fit this category, as the RP communities were swamped with Mary-Sue types. Usually, it's better to have a small group of peeps you know to RP with, rather than trying to get as large a group as possible. for that exact reason.

2. AU types need to have the rules defined nice and early, but you can build on the workings of that universe as you go. In short, observe what people prefer, and decide what you want to mold your AU based on, or just flat out do something you really want to play with that isn't anything like those, but in that case, better to have that small group again. Or even just do it on a one-on-one scale.

3. A beta? How do you test a story? razz But I digress, Just talk with peeps, and determine who you think is worthy of your trust and consequently, your ideas. Just make sure you're not looking for someone who'll say 'yes' and 'good' to everything. That's just a road to failure.

I was going to change the rules on that because I find it hard to believe that these people are going to live like 900 years and stay young and beautiful forever. Maybe back in the day when I was younger and could sustain my disbelief, but not so much anymore.

That was really good. I'm going to have to follow that.

Mine would be focusing on a time in Usagi and Mamoru life outside of ruling.

The more I look into this, the less likely I feel like writing what i've come up with. The mythology behind the story is so set in stone almost that I don't think anyone would like the ideas that I have. Oh well, I guess I'll just go back to the other fandoms I'm in.

Didn't think you would, but it might have it make more sense to you.

In all seriousness, though, I meant what I said about AU things. Let's just say some RPs I LIKE to do fitting the AU spectrum only work within very specific comfort levels, and only with peeps who can accept it.

Also, I can throw other things about Sailor Moon that some may or may not like. In another thread, I made a case about Haruka and Michiru being Neutral Evil, while others tried to debate me on the subject, only having a case for Chatoic Good.

I agree with that. Although I don't know if I would call them Evil so much as Neutral. I think there is a selfishness that comes from the two of them being devoted to one another, more then, to the greater good. Now, does that make them evil? I guess that's in the eyes of the beholder.

That's the beauty of the alignment system. Evil types are usually about themselves. Neutral Evil seek only their goals, and use pawns as they please until they outlive their usefulness. In this case, the other Sol Senshi would be the pawns, for killing the Messiah of Silence in S, and for getting close to Galaxia in StarS. Also, killing your own adoptive daughter (in the manga) shows the magnitude of self-service. Plus, consider they only helped the Inner Senshi in S when it was convenient to, or when they were attacked themselves.

Ignoring that, you'd have a case for Chaotic Good, where the goal is the greater good, but at the expense of authority and rules, as often times, the people who enforce them are useless and/or corrupt to begin with, or there's simply not enough time to wait on the lawful way to handle things.

I could've seen True Neutral, but then again.... Hotaru being sacrificed in Sailor Stars... as their adoptive daughter in the manga, even.

But was that their fault or was that just the burden of Hotaru's fate?

I'm not familiar with the manga at all. My knowledge only comes from the anime and keep in mind, the first time I actually watched it I was 12. Now at 31 i've looked into again, but from a completely different perspective then before.
