February 14th 11:00 am"This is it..." a young woman in a lab coat held up what looked like a small metal box with a red button and timer on it. "With this.. .Allan's heart will finally be mine! Muahahahahaha!" Her villainous monologuing needed work, but obviously the laugh had been practiced to perfection. "After all, what otaku can resist the lure of a catgirl? Just wait, my Sun, wait until I can become more than a simple satellite. Allan and Alanna, our fate is written in the stars!" With a flourish, she hit the red button and promptly disappeared in a puff of mist, leaving only a pile of clothing behind. A few moments later, the pile shifted and a small, fluffy head poked out and sneezed a tiny adorable sneeze. Looking down at her paws, the kitten let out an anguished, "Moooooooow!"Which roughly translates to: [Curses! Foiled again!] Elsewhere throughout the island, hunters preparing for (or resenting) Valentine's find themselves suddenly much, much tinier and a hundred times more adorable as they all turn into kittens. With one, single exception. It's something of an open secret that Life hunters studying runes have a habit of practicing experimental designs on scrap materials. Like a piece of plywood used for boarding up windows. In room 112, there was a small blue flash of light that guttered and died as quickly as it appeared, leaving the room's occupant, one Obadiah Thompson, the sole human being on an island full of kittens. the ooc Yes this occurs on Valentine's day Those who are off the island on leave or a mission are, of course, unaffected The status ICly lasts seven hours (dont forget they are without clothes) OOCly there is no deadline to post by You can join this thread or make your own If your character is now an adorable kitten: They do not speak human, but they understand it, and can also understand < kitten speak> They retain their own mind and personality but, there are now kitten impulses, senses, etc added to the mix

It didn't take long to hone certain Deus-specific instincts. One of them was a natural propensity for fleeing from the direction of any blue-tinged lights.
Taym cautiously peeped up from where he'd taken cover behind the bed, examining the window warily. Relief and trepidation flooded in, approximately in equal measure, at the lack of anything immediately wrong. He waited a few seconds to see if something was about to explode, or turn into a bunch of tiny spiders.
Nothing did, so he carefully, slowly, opened the door.
A tiny grey kitten bounded in panicked fluff mode past his door, and he watched it go with bewilderment, trying to sort out what the distant racket he was hearing might be before realizing it was coming from the showers and was the collective plaintive wailing of what sounded like several cats. Wet, unhappy cats.
Another instinct gained from time at Deus: close your eyes, take a deep breath, don't panic, and just assume this is another one of those odd isolated loops in reality, along the lines of a swimming pool appearing in the cafeteria or the entire Island suddenly falling in love with Otto.
Don't panic. This is temporary.
Surely not everyone has... turned... into a cat...

A very large, soaking wet, fat tabby streaked by, yowling obnoxiously. The only difference was that it wasn't strange for it to be streaking naked through the halls for once. It never stopped until it slammed into the wall at the end of the hallway, and then disappeared around a corner.

Suddenly being trapped under some weird blanket was alarming, but only for about ten seconds, because America quickly forgot to struggle out of them. Fortunately she got bored playing in them and poked her head out of an armhole, spitting a lacy piece of silk out of her mouth as she called out, [Konstantin! Come look this is the best!] Glancing around she noticed that everything was huge. Oh god what if Kostya was huge, would he still listen to orders. She paused a moment, worriedly evaluating the state of their relationship until she noticed a flicker of light on the wall. She charged it,

Kostya stretched languidly, blinking slowly as he reluctantly was dragged out of sleep. And then. And then he realised he was very small, very fluffy, and very alert. With the most concerned expression a tiny kitten face could manage, Kostya slowly wailed the tiniest of wails. [America,] he said, falling off the bed and rolling across the tile, apparently not very coordinated. Kostya charged through the iron bars that guarded his room as a door, then ran into hers, tiny claws skittering across the stone.
[Am not want to follow it! Am want to go TOUCH the THING.]
What thing? Every thing. Kostya leaped towards a dangling shirtsleeve, clawing at it viciously, and then began trying to knead through her sheets. He was simply...compelled.
[Is bigger priority to be doing this now.]

Jumping up, America flailed and scrambled against the wall trying to kill the light. She was flurry of aggressive orange fluff and then she just stopped. Frozen with her ears perked, she thought for a few seconds and then pounced the other kitten and batted at its little face. he's small too. [LET'S GO MAKE HIM EAT HIS WEIGHT IN FISH AND MILK KOSTYA! THEN WHEN HE'S BIG AGAIN HE'LL BE TWICE HIS WEIGHT!!]

Kostya froze, slowly releasing his victim (the sheets), eyes slowly widening. It almost looked as though he could see through time and space itself.
< Is a good plan. Find Obadiah first. Will be small, so small. Is being as much small as one can tuna. > His tail swished insistently, giving Amerikitty the slightest twitch of his nose in response.
< Must find before mope in corner of some place. > Kostya bounded towards her door again, running down the hallway as fast as his little legs could carry him.

Jerry was busy in the gym. He probably should have had a spotter, but with his noodle arms- even with the extra effort he had been putting in the last few weeks, he was still self conscious to do this sort of workout in front of an audience, let alone someone yelling at him while he did it. Roar was bad enough. He huffed, lifting the weight up, shaking a bit with the effort, "T-two..." He was proud of himself. He had gone up in how many weights he could put on the bar. Still, it was difficult, and a bigger man would be able to do much more, but it was better than he had been able months before. "Th-th-three..." He managed before suddenly- The world dropped away. And the heavy series of weights came crashing down. There was a shrill, terrified cry before a brown and orange streak leaped from the room, very narrowly having being smooshed.

At first she had been making poor excuses for Valentines cards, then she had transferred to playing with the construction paper cut outs. Once the playing begun she realized in a far away, detached sort of manner, that her hands were a lot furrier now and that she looked like her hair more, only all over and wow construction paper was fun. In fact, everything was fun because wow! Everything was so big! The bed was so high and Abbi had to literally scale the sheets with claws to get up to the top but once she was there wow she could see all her room! Much bigger than it was before! WOW. With a chirp, she jumped from the bed, tumbled onto the floor in a pile of awkward limbs and fur before she rolled to her feet and pounced toward the door. It took a long while, but finally Abbi pried the door open, streaking out in a blur of fluffy orange. WOW THE HALLWAY WAS SO BIG. From one part of the hallway she pressed a paw to one wall before she darts with an arched back to the other side to push it against the opposite wall. This was so much fun and she was fluffy and wheeeeeee~

The giant tabby kitten returned, though it wasn't running anymore. On its back was a tiny little black and white, clinging onto it blindly. The tabby strolled towards Taym, taking each step carefully as it surveyed its target, until it arrived at his leg. The cat head butted it firmly, and started to twine around his legs, marking the human as his own by rubbing against it repeatedly.

America yowled plaintively as she caught up to Kostya and then pounced him, springing off his back to get the lead. If this was a race she was going to win! Sadly, by the time they reached the top of the stairs she began to feel a little tired. At least, until she tried racing again and this time her paws were sliding across the smooth floors, wildly out of control.
Mission mostly forgotten, she dashed and skid erratically, down the hall, passing kitten after kitten but none were small enough to be Taym so who cared this was the best. it was about that time she bounced off something huge and clothes-y. < Konstantin! I think I found someone still human! What an a*****e! Do you think he'll feed us?>

Oh no so many cats.
No people anywhere, running down the halls in a panic saying "where did all these cats come from?"
Just him and an ocean of cats. He had been staring absently into the middle distance questioning his decisions to join Deus, not for the first time, when he was accosted by a tabby that desperately needed a few extra toys and maybe a stricter diet. Unthinkingly, instinctively, he bent to scratch the proffered forehead.
"This is stupid," he said aloud, addressing no one or nothing in particular, without inflection and with a sort of bewildered sullenness.
And then there were more, tumbling into his legs, and without thinking (again), he bent to pick up the new arrival because it was tiny and orange and fluffy and oh god this was a disaster.
"Labs," he informed it, feeling like an idiot. "Step one."

In the middle of something of extreme importance, Mimsy found herself suddenly incapable of completing her task. The tool that had once been in her hand clattered to the ground, thankfully missing her project, which was now very high up and hopefully unharmed.
Because she was shrinking.
Svensyl teased that she was shutting up like a telescope, and posed the question of what might happen if she shrunk any further. She could go out like a candle, he warned.
No, you idiot. I would be a boson.
Disappointed that she was not going along with his joke, Svensyl quieted. It allowed her to think more clearly again - or she thought it would, at least. It was nearly impossible to focus at all; several slow blinks later, she discovered that the lack of focus was both mental and physical. That meant that her glasses were missing. Which might mean...
With one eye closed in anticipation of a sight she would not want to see, she looked down at her body. She was naked in a lab. What should have been a panicked protest came out as a loud hiss, which was a less-than-gentle reminder that she was not simply breaking safety protocol:
She was also a juvenile feline.
The hissing was unending as she began to paw at her closed eyes, frustrated at their lack of functionality. The probability of the action helping in any capacity was astronomically small, but it seemed like the right thing to do, for reasons she didn't quite comprehend. She didn't stop until she felt a larger cat brush against her and poke her with its nose - twice - before it flopped down on three-quarters of her body.
It wasn't hard to tell who it was.
After wriggling out and crawling up onto his back instead, she just sat silently, blinking miserably at the world as it passed by her. Everything felt helplessly incomprehensible, and she couldn't determine what was happening, until she felt Robert brush up against a human.
The hissing started again, and she smacked his ear with her needle-like kitten claws. For good measure, she smacked the human too, a tiny growl churning in her throat.

Milo had been taking a little rest on the beach, a little break from his run. And now he was a small brown kitten resting on the beach, taking a break from his run. He wrinkled his little nose, whiskers at alert. Hm. Something seemed a little odd.

The tabby cat accepted his scritches gracefully, as they were his to have and therefore it was only right to be done. When Taym pulled his hand away to straighten up again, Robert's maw attempted to snap at the fingers, but he missed. His ear flickered repeatedly every time Mimsy swatted it, and he turned his head to lick her face suddenly, roughly, until she settled down. But now the human had another cat in his arms, which meant attention getting must intensify. Robert began to wind around his legs again, head-butting and demanding - his body intertwined so much that it would probably make Taym trip if he wasn't careful.
