I know, I know. You all probably think I'm crazy, but just hear me out.

I think that it would be a good idea to create a new Official Green Day Thread.



My Reasonings:

1. I think it would be helpful if the thread creator was active.
2. The current first post has absoultely no information about the band.
3. The current thread has no written rules.


Ok, I think having an active thread creator would be good because that way we can actually update the first posts. Not only with new information and such, but with special events such as Mike's birthday that is coming up. Also, the current thread is titled an 'unofficial' thread, which might turn some people away from it. The new one would be titled an Official Thread.

If you've seen more recently created Official Threads, they all have information about the band. Not only is this helpful to current fans, but this also attracts new people.

Also, we would have a set of written rules. A major one, being no flaming. And I don't just mean people coming in and flaming Green Day. I'm talking about us regulars. Recently, most of us have been rather obnoxious to new people. As Peeko once said, we're acting as though there is a hierarchy in the fan-ness of Green Day. This way, we'd have a fresh start. Also, this would make the thread friendly to newbies to Green Day. We will be known as the helpfull thread instead of the thread that makes people hate Green Day.


Now, you all probably want to kill me for even thinking about such an idea, right? I mean... we'd lose so many pages, right? Well, if you think about it, the majority aren't really that important. Most are just hit and run posts or us flaming others. I say, as someone suggested in the thread, that we wait until we reach 2000 pages. That will give us a sense of closure with the old and a readyness for the new.


Now, I just wanted to see everybodys opinion on this idea. If the majority of you think it's a good idea or don't really care, then I think we should go for it.

But then that leaves the question of who will be the thread creator of the new thread.

Ok, I've gone through the list of regulars and I think that I would feel comfortable with any one of these people as the thread creator of the new thread. Happy Bunnie was also on the list, but she told me that she didn't want that kind of responsibility. The people listed above are all regulars, use proper grammar, are on almost every day, and, in my opinion, can be trusted.

Now, I'm sure a bunch of you are thinking of other people that might make a good thread creator (If we really do make a new thread), so post your ideas. Also, if you want to be taken off the list, for whatever reason, just tell me and I will do so.

I think that once almost everybody has gotten their say in this, I'll start a poll here for the final list. I think that's really the only fair way to go about doing this. sweatdrop

This was in response to Roxy asking that if and when we decide to make the new thread, we would be able to get the old one binned.

So, we now just have to say the word and the old thread is gone.

I may sound stupid saying this since I'm only a regular to the guild, but personally, I think it's a wonderful idea. It sounds like it would address everything, and make everyone comfortable. So, um, I agree..... sweatdrop

Sounds like a good idea to me. =D That thread needs rules to make sure everyone has a good time talking about Green Day. Having the rules in the first post and other important infromation about the band would also be a good thing, so people know that we know about Green Day. 3nodding biggrin

I too think it's a great idea, as I said on the thread in question. I've only been here (on the thread AND the guild) for about a week, but from what I've seen I think it would help eliminate a lot of the problems we have.

As to who should make the thread...someone who will hopefully stay active, and if not someone who is willing to give another person their password so we can still update the first page... xp Someone who knows what they're talking about...types properly...and...yeah. Someone who is concise and to the point, not someone like me who rambles too much.

i dont think there will be too much trouble in getting a consensus of rules. Anyway they will be pretty much un-enforcable seen as none of us are mods, they will be more guidelines which noobs always ignore anyway.
