Murmuring Pines Psychic Summer Camp, Majesco Psychic Academy, and Psychonauts HQ have certain rules and regulations pertaining to pets and the keeping of them.

Small to medium dogs, domestic cats, rodents, non-venomous reptiles and amphibians, non-venomous insects and arachnids, fish, and small to medium birds may be kept. Certain species of bat may also apply. Exotic animals depend entirely on the laws within the Northeastern United States and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

The Campus contains a pet supply store for all of your feeding, playing, and grooming needs, as well as a pet friendly park to ensure your animals aren't cooped up all the time and get a healthy amount of exercise. Nurse Lacey has veterinary training in case of emergencies and Counselor Monroe or Doolittle can communicate with all animals present.

Animals may develop psychic powers (a maximum of two) thanks to the psitanium in the area. The longer an animal remains around a concentration of psitanium, the more likely it is for powers to develop. Doolittle will asisst pets in controlling their abilities in his Pet Power Fundamentals class, and training will allow for power upgrades where available. For more information, see the Pet Powers thread.

LIVE ANIMALS

Campers and Psycadets are allowed to keep one animal in the cabins.
They must be in a cage, tank, or on a leash at all times.
They must have clear identification and up to date tags.

Students and Recruits are allowed to keep two animals in their dorms.
They must be in a cage, tank, or on a leash at all times outside of their dormitories.
They must all have clear identification and up to date tags.

Agents and Psychonauts are allowed to keep four animals.
They must be in a cage, tank, or on a leash at all times outside of their offices or housing, unless given clearance.
They must all have clear identification and up to date tags.

There may also be animals that aren't attached to a specific character. This means they live on the property and are cared for by faculty. Currently, you may have three unattended animals. As you gain more character slots by ranking your characters up to Agent, you also gain more animal slots for those unattended. The cert would list your username as the owner rather than a character. You can find your art and information here once they're approved.

INANIMATE PETS

Some folks may not be able to handle keeping live animals, whether for allergy reasons or questionable responsibility, but may wish to have the same level of companionship with something. In this event, inanimate objects like potted plants, stuffed animals, or rocks with googly eyes will suffice.

Inanimate pets do not always follow the same basic owner restrictions as animals. You may opt not to attach an inanimate pet acquired through games to a character and instead list it as a possession in their journal. This will not count against the pet limit, as there is no set limit on inanimate object pets.

For the sake of humor, we encourage inanimate pets to still have a profile but obviously this would not be even remotely as in depth as an animal profile (which, by profile standards, is pretty sparse to begin with). Unless, of course, you want to get that detailed.

ACQUIRING A PET

Some premade characters may come coupled with a pet but typically they are alone when acquired. Most often you will need to wait for a pet only sale, event, or game. Quests and customs may also gain a pet upon acquisition or at a later date. If you really want your character to have a pet RIGHT NOW, check the notices board to see if any artists are taking pet customs.
