User Image Esme tilted her head to the side as she hummed a ditty to herself as she glanced over the quiz the teacher had handed out moments earlier. She scowled down at the paper, and sighed. How she hated written tests and quizzes. She really didn't see the point of them.

She sighed again and glanced over at her seat mate's paper only to earn a reprimand from the teacher overseeing the class. She slouched in her seat and scuffed a shoe across the floor as she situated her paper again and picked up her quill. She dipped it in the ink pot and started scribbling down what she thought the answers were.

She was a bit surprised that the answers came so fast and found herself done after a few minutes. She glanced over the questions once more and then resigned herself to what she had answered. She blew on the parchment to dry the ink out and then rolled it up and walked up to the front room and turned it in.

"Stay there," the Professor told her sharply and unrolled it and read it over. "Well done Ms. Grint-Ramirez, you may go now."

Esme was a bit surprised to be allowed to leave. She didn't remember him saying the class would be over once the quiz was done with. "Thank you." She beamed at the man and spun around to grab her red book bag and stuffed her writing materials inside. She ignored the angry glares that the other students shot at her as she skipped out of the classroom.

She grinned widely and started humming as she traipsed down the hallways. She was free from the drudgery of the classroom and she had nearly an hour until her next class. What should she do with all this free time?

It didn't take long for her mind to start wandering and soon she was off in her own little world. She continued down the hallway blissfully unaware of what was going on around her. She wouldn't have even noticed if a troll had invaded the school.

Charlie sifted through her books and set the ones she needed for the afternoon on her bed. Pleased that she had finished her homework earlier than planned and now had some free time before her next class, she decided to return a book she had loaned from the library and then spend some time outside. Grabbing said book, she bid one of her dormmates goodbye and headed out.

Getting better at the action, thanks to the distance and time constraints between some of her classes, she speed walked down the halls while hugging the object to her chest. Distracted by glancing out a window as she passed it, she rounded a corner.

Blissfully entrenched in a springtime wonderland, Esme had no idea that her path was leading her straight towards the unsuspecting gryffindor headed towards the library. Esme smiled, and whistled a merry little tune as her feet began to tap across the floor in a merry jig.

She was thus completely stunned when she ran head first into what felt like a brick wall and went sprawling on the stone floor. Stunned and breathless from the collision she glanced around in dismay. Her bright merry daydream world had vanished and she was met with the dull dreary stone walls of the Hogwart's halls.

Frowning she stood up and brushed off her sore bottom and then saw caught sight of the girl she had run into. She flinched and moved to give the other girl a hand up.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going. Are you okay?" She asked reaching out her hand to the other.

Having a bit of a delayed reaction, Charlie blinked at her sudden change in surroundings. Noticing the hand in front of her, she blinked at it, too, then glanced at the girl in front of her as she took it, standing.

She smiled a thank you. "Yes, I think so..."

Making sure her clothes weren't in disarray, she glanced around for her book. Quickly picking it up and looking it over for any damage, she gave a sigh of relief and hugged it to her chest, now fully giving her attention to the other. "I wasn't really paying attention, either. I'm Charlie."

Esme waited patiently for the other girl to notice her hand, taking the moments to look her over closely. She rather liked the glasses the other girl was sporting on her nose. She was a bit surprised that the glasses hadn't fallen off in the fall.

Esme itched to pull on the other girl's curly hair to see if it would spring back. Most people didn't really care to have strangers touch their hair, especially if one wanted to pull it. Esme ran her other hand down her hair nervously as she tried to not appear impatient. After all she had been the one to run into the the other girl. Who knew that daydreaming could be so harmful?

Esme was glad when the girl finally moved to take her hand and then replied to her. For a moment there she had though the other girl might have hit her head on something. "That's a relief. I wasn't sure if you had hit your head on something." She said letting out a breath of relief.

Esme saw the other girl glancing around as if she had lost something and frowned. Her hand fluttered to her bag and she patted it to make sure all her things were inside. Then her hand flew to her right ear to check for the white quill she kept tucked behind it at all times. She was annoyed to find it was missing.

"Oh, nice to meet you, I'm Esme." She replied and started searching the floor for her quill. "You don't see a white quill pen anywhere do you? I normally tuck it behind my ear."

"A..." Charlie glanced around. Noticing contrast against the stone floor, she quickly adjusted her book to her other arm and crouched, picking up the white utensil. She looked it over before standing and holding it out to her.

"Is.. is this it? It doesn't look like it was damaged in the collision, thankfully."

Esme was busy looking behind where she had fallen when she heard the other girl asked her a question. She whirled around to see the other girl was holding it gingerly in her fingers and holding it out to her.

"Oh thank you so much!" She exclaimed happily and took it from her carefully and tucking it behind her ear and hair. "Yes, thankfully it's fine."

Esme found herself curious to know where the other girl had been heading in such a hurry. She caught sight of Charlie's book and her mind instantly worked out that she must have been headed to the library.

"So did you have classwork to work on? Or were you headed to the library for another reason?"

Charlie nodded, smiling, and absently played with a few strands of her hair while she watched the quill return to its place.

At the mention of her book she blinked and glanced down at it. "Oh, I just had some free time so I was returning it. Would you.. like to join me? I mean, if you're not in a hurry."

Esme couldn't help but smile when she caught the other girl playing with her hair. She offhandedly wondered how many people played with their hair. She'd have to do a study of it one day soon.

Esme glanced out the nearest window and was annoyed to see that it was overcast outside. She sighed and jammed her hands into the pockets of her cloak.

"Sure, I'll join you. I don't have anything better to do at the moment. Now if it were nice outside I'd be rushing to the door. I hope we get some nice weather soon."

Charlie quickly glanced in the direction Esme was looking when she saw her expression, and frowned before blinking surprisingly at the response she was given. Not many she knew would say yes to willingly being in the library's vicinity. Then again, she didn't know many people well, yet. "I wish so, too," she responded.

"Shall.. shall we go?" she asked, beginning to slowly walk.

Esme noted Charlie's frown and surprised look at her quick assent to going to the library. She knew not many people would be all that willing to spend their free time in there. Then again those kids didn't know just how massive the fiction section was in there. Most kids didn't read for fun like she did.

"I wish it didn't rain so much here." She said with another sigh. "At least we have other worlds to immerse ourselves into." She added with a cheery smile.

"Sure," Esme replied and flung an arm around Charlie's shoulders and skipped alongside her. "Have you checked out the library's fiction section yet? They have so many cool books."

Charlie smiled back. "I agree."

She blinked at the other's friendly gesture, but didn't shake her off. Instead, she slightly blushed and started playing with her hair again, not used to being the receiver of such actions from anyone besides her friends. "Oh, I have! That section is my favorite."

Esme beamed back. "Do you have a favorite world that you like to imagine? Most times when I'm wanting a world to lose myself in I go into Narnia. Well not the real Narnia of course, but what I've envisioned Narnia must look like."

Esme didn't really think too much of draping her arm across the other's shoulders. It was a natural habit of hers that she just did. She did notice when Charlie blushed and started playing with her hair again. She wondered why she was doing it.

"Is your hair as soft as it looks?" Esme asked, now itching to touch the hair that her hand was only inches away from.

She couldn't help but grin widely at Charlie's reply. "Mine too! There are so many cool worlds that you can lose yourself into. I suppose my favorites are Middle Earth and Narnia. Funny isn't it? I end up picking magical worlds. I guess I just really love magic."
