Alright these should go by PRETTY FAST because we certainly want to make sure everyone has their characters rearing to go and get started on the fun stuff, Roleplay!
A few key tips of things that will be automatic rejection
Being directly related to any of the original characters( no sister, brother, uncle, aunt-- the only exception is cousins/distant cousins in large families, like applejack's) Being involved in the original character's lives (again, exceptions being things like being pinkie pie's friend because you also live in ponyville) God-mod / over powered skills magic or otherwise. Instant death, control over other characters, things that have no "bad" side to them. Every power should have both a strength and a weakness of matching value. (small gain, small cost; big gain, big cost) No names that don't fall into the scheme. There is a "joe" in the show but for the most part try to keep with the typical way! Uber-angst / "dark" ponies -- let me be clear here, its okay to have a villain or a "dark pony", but you need to be VERY careful with this. Have a legitimate character. No "my character is SUPER lol insane like pinkemania" Your characters can always have legitimate illnesses, but do not cross the line that turns mental illness and other illness into a joke. On the same subject, no directly yoinking traits from your favorite characters. "she likes animals like fluttershy" your character's interests should speak for themselves with no links to the mane 6! No otherwise offensive ponies. No racist, sexist and whatever kind of 'ist' you can think of. Again, variety is good or if you want to challenge yourself with a pony that has a bad trait and learns a valuable lesson later, but it should have little to do with the design and name and skill of your pony. No alicorns or other "unique" species until otherwise specified. See below for limitations! No stolen art! Since gypsy gold is a real phrase used in the reverence of horses I think this is fine and is in conduct with the rules!
I would caution you to avoid the use of the word gypsy as it originated as a derogatory term outside of the US, and while the typical American associates it with more positive things, there is a lot of history behind it.
Ah here we go... In this paticular case gypsy refers to the ethnic group -- Irish Travellers (Irish: an lucht siúil) or Pavee, also called Tinkers or Gypsies (but not to be confused with the Romani people), are a traditionally itinerant people of ethnic Irish origin, who maintain a set of traditions and as the wiki states "Travellers refer to themselves as Minceir or Pavees, or in Irish as an Lucht Siúil, meaning literally "the walking people"." so I would suggest replacing "Gypsy saying" with "Pavee saying" but there should be no need to change the character as of right now, this is just a quick note for future reference and for other players. c:
So again I think the name is fine, and my comment is only out of attempted respect for the issue not anything I see wrong in your particular case! I like to err on the side of caution and respect... as for all I know I'm preaching to the choir right now. xD
And yes! I see what you're saying. I know colt and filly are any horse under 4, and after 4 is adult. BUT since colt and filly are already being used canon wise for very young ponies, I figured it might be comparable to how teens are still "kids." while it says yearlings are early adolescence with some sexual maturity but too young to be bred(be parents)? Still equestria wise ponies are little ones for more than 1-2 years so there's no reason to keep to it strictly or anything! If you have any suggestions for something better feel free to offer them. @v@
I understand completely and admire your consideration of others. heart This particular pony actually happens to be based off an actual gypsy OC that I have who was based off of the gypsies from the story The Hunchback of Notre Dame, so I was sure to do my research. Thank you for the information!

The reason I got pavee was in relation to the origin of the phrase since it was Irish in origin, "Claddagh Gypsies of Galway, Ireland" to be specific with that saying itself, and then irish gypsy got me to pavee. But I'm sure you know more than I do with your research! xD

...I was actually referring to the other kind of gypsy that you mentioned in your excerpt - the Romany kind - as well as the Irish Travelers. The reason why I used the term 'gypsy' is because although the saying was attributed to the Claddagh Gypsies of Galwa, who are Irish, the saying itself refers specifically to the horse breed of Gypsy Vanners (of which my pegasus pony was modeled after) which are also known as Romany horses. Since the term 'Gypsies' refers to both the culture and lifestyle of both Romany and Irish Traveling people, I meant to refer to both by using the blanket term.
Also, I am aware the term is considered a derogatory term, but that was part of the reason I gave it to this pony. The OC he was based off of - Shamaki Oro - is a lowly gypsy thief who has to steal to eat, though by no choice of his own. He is practically a beggar who entertains for a few coins a day which are hardly enough to live on. I refer to the term not as a positive thing, but meant with every connotation and stigma that comes with the word, both good and bad.

Name:Melon Madness (goes by 'Mel' for short) Species: Pegasus Gender: Male Cutie mark: A slice of watermelon with a bite taken out of it Special skill: He can spit watermelon seeds with speed, accuracy, and precision from quite a distance and is always trying to break his own records. Unfortunately he tends to use this talent mostly to harass and play pranks on others.
Extra: He loves all melons including cantaloupe, and honeydew, but especially watermelons. He knows a hundred different recipies for them (if not so much how to make/prepare them himself since he tends to be messy) - such as melon sorbet, melon candy, melon soup, melon pudding, melon pie, melon upside-down cake, melon bubble gum, melon taffy, and melon ice cream with melon sauce and melon-flavored sprinkles on top.
However, he's most proud of his accomplishments as a watermelon seed-spitter and can beat any pony in a seed-spitting contest. His favorite pastime is to lounge about in the clouds or fly by and shoot watermelon seeds with speed, distance, and accuracy at ponies below for fun. He likes to practice on moving targets and is a horrible prankster.
Although Mel can't make the melon dishes he loves so much himself, he usually demands said dishes from farming ponies in exchange for helping them water their crops (since pegasai are known to have some amount of control over weather and, thus, rain/clouds/irrigation). Age: Stallion (Adult) Residence: Morning dew is a wanderer, never finding himself able to completely fit in anywhere. This was the only part that confused me. The sentence contradicts itself. It reads as if the bullying preceded his fear to go out into public, and if that's the case then the bullying did bother him to some extent. So think about that one a little more and switch it up a little.
And do please try to mind your punctuation and grammar, as it can be difficult for other players to read your posts. This isn't mandatory, of course, we accept all levels of RP and encourage people to be here for fun! So if this is too much of a drag, you can easily let it go.
However if you want to improve it I suggest downloading open office, or using Microsoft word if you have it to run your posts through. Capitalize the start of your sentences, use periods and commas, and watch your spelling )of coarse = of course) and firefox can be helpful too as it has an automatic spell check. xD

The special skill is fine, and I enjoy the limitations set there (he can control fire but not create it, and tires himself out. *thumbs up*
However the appearance will, unfortunately, have to change. I would leave out the part that "nopony has ever seen before" and simply say "a rare condition that caused him to be featherless" which is quite probable, as--say-- chickens can have a genetic defect that prevents normal feathergrowth.
My biggest concern is the dragon-like appearance. I would suggest, instead, no tattoo, and instead of dragon wings that were created by a spell to do something more inclusive of his story. Say; mechanical wings that his father forged for him. In which case you could do something dragon like, for simplicities sake... or have him create a featherlike mechanical wing. These could attach to the little bald chickenwings c:
Finally you need an entirely new image; revise his coloration, as he looks an awful lot like Spyro the dragon. I'm sure you're aware of that because the image is from deviantart, and I've explicitly stated not to use art that is not your own via the rules this is the reason for the rejection. c:

APPROVEDprovided the following conditions are met: 1. Light fire's abilities have a time limit. Somewhere under a minute, and do not actually physically alter the form but use mirage work. (Which would make sense with the fire thing cause heat can cause mirages! So I think we're on the same page here xD) and that's simply because Twilight is shown to be struggling with altering physical shapes and is canon-wise a very high level magic. Time limit because they need to wear off otherwise it would be considered godmodding and thus against the rules.
2. Please have a reasonable explanation as to why their parents died. As I noted I don't want any "orphans for plot" so no like "they were brutally murdered by changelings" or anything. Something mundane like 'died of old age' or even childbirth to an older mare could be lifethreatning, and then loving papa could have "died of a broken heart" -- something like those, it needs to be equally plausible were you to put them into a real life situation as humans living in north America. Otherwise you run the risk of "dark pony" area
