About Metus
Name: Metus
Age: Child
Specific Dream Type: Dread vessel/ nightmare
Original Type/Change: Once upon a time Metus' egg held within it an innocent manifest, one born to be fractious and nervous as a representative of the emotion of fear. Still they were one who could have, with time, accepted their nature and learned to not let it rule them. Fate had other plans however.
The dream inside that egg became poisoned with the nightmare infection, which amplified it. That the circumstances surrounding the infection were one where there was further panic and distress from those around it did the unborn manifest no favours . Metus hatched as a nightmare, transformed from a simple expression of an emotion into a dread vessel. His existence now twisted and entwined with being a personification of fear, dread and foreboding.
To his very core Metus feels this as such related thoughts and feelings travel directly to him. His body trembles when a friend is hesitant and uncertain about touching a strange animal. The actual nightmares of another nearby will bring the boy out of a deep sleep and have him gasping for breath. Uncontrollable fear based empathy pulls such nearby feelings to Metus, even when he is unconscious.
Metus himself resonates an aura that causes most around him to feel at least mild unease. Though he cannot actively curse people his tendency to burst out in panic from an empathy spike also does little to make him seem like a safe and stable friend.
Personality: Anxious:
Metus is generally fretting about something and he hesitates to do anything without some sense of assurance that it will be okay. New things and new people make him unhappy and he is slow to welcome either into his life. Attempts to make Metus hurry up and deal with change will result in him balking and trying to run away from the situation.
Superstitious:
Bad stuff happens all the damn time and Metus for one would like it to happen a little less. He is ever so cautious about stepping on cracks, gently handling mirrors and throwing salt over his shoulder. Metus will collect and carry as many good luck charms as his itty bitty hands can get hold of and he will always be on the lookout for good and ill omens.
Diplomatic:
Metus hates arguments, he hates the way people get all riled up and glare and stomp around waving their hands as they try to "win' a battle of words. Metus prefers to play peacemaker. He listens to everyone involved and then tries to offer some sort of solution that satisfies everyone. If someone is really wrong about something he tries to gently explain why and show them how their thoughts are a problem without blaming them for having said thoughts.
Metus uses his words to bring people together, to bind them to an idea or an agreement that should ensure at least temporary peace.
Generous:
What belongs to Metus generally belongs to everyone. He has a few small items he holds dear but otherwise if you need it you can have it. This doesn't mean he'll give you his half of an apple just because you want it. If yours fell in the dirt though he'd split his even further to share with you.
