Lost
Nan 2013
Baer looked around at her surroundings, there were noises everywhere and she had no idea where she was. She was trapped, lost in the concrete jungle. It was a really stupid jungle. Nothing like the quiet Wilderness she was used to with only the sounds of the wild animals and the Rustling of the leaves on the trees breaking the Silence. The only sources of light were the sun, moon, fire and a few weird devices the others managed to find. She hissed softly, she needed to relax thing clearly there was no need to panic. No one knew she was here other than the other Nightmares, she was safe no one would be after her as long as she was smart and stuck to the shadows.
But here it was different there were lights everywhere little suns on poles, street lights they were called although she wasn't sure how she knew that, it was something she just knew. It was weird that the source of light was coming from below her instead of from above. The noises were strange, unnatural whirrings and beepings, honking horns and ringing phones. She scrambled up the side of the building she was one, she was lucky that the groves in the bricks were deep enough for her to get a foothold in.
From her perch high up she scanned the city to see if she couldn't find any of the other nightmares that were possibly lurking around. She twitched a bit, feeling the desire to attack, to rip things apart crawling up her skin. Rip, tear, destroy them, and show them that they could not keep her imprisoned. Yes, then she'd have nice human pelts too. Would her powers work on a human she wondered, it worked on animals and humans were animals to right? So it should work. It would be fun to find out wouldn't it? Yes it would be. But no it was a bad idea to just jump down there and rip apart the next passerby as much as she wanted to it was best to sneak around jumping from one shadow to the next, that way they wouldn't be seen. If she was seen they would send the dreamery staff after her. It was foolish to fight without knowing the way out, how to retreat and who knew what would happen if she got caught, something bad no doubt. Imprisoned, tortured, death? Baer shook her head, she was smarter than that. She would find out how far her powers extend another time.
She could find her way out of this false stone monstrosity and back to the wilderness without being spotted and on the off chance she was spotted, she could out run most anyone she ran into. Spotting the edge of the city that when to the part of the wilderness she lived with the others she headed in that direction. Climbing and jumping her away over the obstacles she found.
She growled softly seeing that there was a large gap between the building on which she was resting and the side that was closer to the wilderness. It was to far to jump, so she would have to jump as far as she could and then run. She checked the area to make sure no one was around to spot her before leaping and then scrambling up the side of the nearest building.
Maybe she should turn into one of those gecko things; it would be easier to climb up walls. But they were so tiny; it would take a lot of them to make a good sized skin for her to wear. Would it even work if she combined the skins of more than one animal of the same type? That was something to test latter on, it would be interesting to find out. It was possible one gecko skin would work but it could only be turned into a bracelet or something because it was so small. it was useful for spying and climbing but a gecko didn't really have that man good advantages, still it was something to look into.
A few quick movements over the roofs and she made it to the end of the city, now all that lay before her was the empty wilderness, home. Once again she looked around to make sure no one was watching, she didn't want to lead anyone to the Nightmare Squad's camp. She jumped down and ran off, glad to finally be free of strange false stone city and happy she wasn't lost anymore.
