TEXT FROM ??? Portals reopening today. Anyone wishing to use portals for leave must arrive at the Lighhouse 10:00am. Five lucky names will be drawn today at 11:00 am. The winners will get to pick a portal vacation buddy. PS: Please bring a pen The lighthouse was pretty busy by the time most Hunters got there, and it seemed in good spirits, someone had set up a table with free beer and bags of Lays chips ranging from regular to ketchup flavoured chips. Portal access itself seemed to be blocked off, as anyone approaching the lighthouse would be told to get in line and wait, or really enjoy the party.
There were vague shapes of Life techs moving inside, muttering something about a fifty-percent chance it would work, and more outside laying all sorts of cords haphazardly around as they argued amongst each other about signal outputs and wrong runic boosts and the likes. But since nobody was nobody was showing any sexy cleavage, this clearly was just life tech babble and not actual science.
Mark too seemed set up next to the beer stand, the Death assistant enjoying a beer, or two, or five. He was holding an open box, that looked like something from last year's futile attempt at an Xmas party. "Names in the box, names in the box. Anyone wanting portal freedom, names in the box!" He shook it, shook it again, and probably thought he was doing more science than the mostly boobless Life techs. OOC DEUS LEAVE:- As portals are still unstable and also it really is a bad idea for everyone to leave the island at once, names will be DRAWN. Those lucky winners will get portal access for the day to do their vacation-y things. Five winners are drawn, and they get to pick one person to go with. - Winners will be icly raffled within 24 hours for the first round of FREEDOM GOERS

Yes, a thousand times yes! Peyton had gotten the text and had immediately gotten dressed before searching her desk for a pen to tuck in her ear and heading out the door. She didn't bother stopping to knock on any doors, she knew everyone would have gotten the same text and she had zero doubts that theyneededd her delivering any messages. Instead she hurried down the hall and out the doors, making a quick jog to the lighthouse. She hadn't expected quite as many people to be there when she arrived, certainly not quite so many Life techs still scrambling around obviously working on things portal related, but she wasn't going to let that dampen her enthusiasm any. The girl was ready to get the ******** off the island, even if just for a day, without it being under the guise of a pain in the a** mission. The mall itself hadn't been awful, but the cleaning duty that had followed she could have done with out. The beer and chips were also a surprise, and she eyed the refreshment table warily before noticing Mark sucking down suds like they were going out of style. That probably meant they were safe, probably. Besides, why the hell not? She picked one up by the neck, then headed towards where Mark was holding his little box. Now the pen made sense. "So we can go anywhere?" Really, even if their choices were limited, it was certainly better then nothing. zoobey Question for you, Mark sir.

Dory had bee-lined from his little daily wanderings to join the party, having received the message, and being instantly curious about everything. Of course, it said nothing about chips and beer, so when he finally showed up, he was delighted to see that they remembered ketchup chips.
Ketchup chips, homg.
He was there, bitches. It tasted like home and made him a little homesick, so, instinctively, he hovered around it, taking enough time to write his name down on a piece of paper for the box.
Yessss, chips.

As instructed, Konstantin appeared at the Lighthouse a few minutes before 10:00 AM. He clutched a pen in his left hand, and at Mark's behest, he wrote his name on a slip of paper and put it in the box.
He really, really needed to go grocery shopping.

Bix had been up for hours at this point and beer was hardly on the agenda.. but he would eat some chips. He grabbed a bag and munched away, walking up to shoulder-nudge Peyton while crunching. "Anywhere. Man I need hair stuff so bad.." He shook his white hair, frizzed and fluffy and bound in headbands to keep it out of his face.

"Well yeah, usually." Peyton offered Bix a grin, giving him a prod with her elbow. "But they've been down forever, didn't want to assume we could just go anywhere then be disappointed later." Pale eyes flicked up to his hair. "Maybe a hair cut, too. Unless you're growing it out." She set her unopened beer down on the table and grabbed a scrap of paper to write her name on, then added it to the box before falling back to Bix's side.

Milo showed up upon receiving the text message, dressed casually as far as he was concerned with a pen in hand as was instructed. He didn't really need free beer to be an incentive, getting a possible vacation was damn good enough really. (He wanted to go to Japan, could they go to Japan? Hopefully someone would answer Peyton's question).
A bag of Fritos was grabbed as soon as he saw the table with the goodies, and in one fluid swoop he filled out a piece of paper and added his name to the box. "Sup!" He greeted to the others with a wide smile and a little salute.

In spite of Mimsy's recent ventures off-island, there were still numerous supplies to be bought and things to be done. The opportunity was a welcome distraction from the especially troublesome problem she'd been working on, anyway, so she arrived at the indicated time with Lucky in tow. Her right hand firmly clasped his left as she led him towards the lighthouse, careful not to press her fingertips into the scar tissue of her handiwork. It had healed quite nicely. Upon her arrival, she seemed to think that this level of science was just fine and did not make any attempts to increase its validity. The existence of a beer stand, however, did not seem very fine at all, largely because of its placement near sensitive equipment. Many of the people on this island were not trustworthy around any kind of equipment while sober - this had a high probability of being a mess. So, in hopes of avoiding placing herself in the middle of that mess, she used the pen she'd been instructed to bring to write her name on a slip of paper, folded the entry once, and dropped it into the box. After glancing at Lucky, she repeated the process with his name, as it was probably already very clear that he didn't have a choice in the matter. Task completed, she moved to a spot safely distant from Mark and his alcohol, gaze cast down at her feet. She looked like she was trying her very best to avoid conversation, but she did opt to mumble something to Lucky. "I will avoid the obvious joke in reference to your name and circumstances of chance, but would like to point out the fact that the message we received said that 'lucky' names would be drawn. I took care to use your nickname, for this reason." Zoobey hi just letting you know you're obligated to draw him now ty

Ami didn't like to beg. She was one for holding her head high and her attitude higher.
A portal trip was a portal trip though. Even she could admit she needed to time to buy conitnued repair supplies for her house (one day-long trip would not be enough to suffice, even if they HAD been allowed to use the portals for leisure). Honestly she wasn't even interested in the vacation that much. It would be nice in another lifetime maybe, but in this one she'd just spend the whole time being unnerved and on edge, prepared for any sort of sneak attack done by monsters.
Yet there she was, in the mass of people with her hands folded neatly in front of her. She didn't bother taking the refreshments- any sane hunter knew that you didn't take free food from life techs. That was just asking for a third arm.
She signed her name neatly on a piece of paper, then waited quietly. If they drew her name, great. If not, she'd just have to wait for Mark to do something stupid. Again.

Chel barreled through the crowd to get to the beer and chips. Months of MREs had actually been chipping away at her brain functionality. She needed sustenance. Not cardboard.
She hopped onto Dory's back, reaching over him to grab a beer in one hand, and chips in the other. When she tasted them though, she spat them out. "Dude what the ******** are these flavored?!" Chel popped the top off her beer and tried to drown the disgusting flavor out. "Seriously what the hell? Is this some French s**t?"
The pink haired hunter then noticed Milo was at the table, and she smiled. "Oh hey Milo! Sup?" She gestured vaguely to the ketchup chips. "Don't try those, they're gross."
All while on Dory's back.

Taym, unaware of why one did not take food from life techs, had zeroed in on the beer before anything else. Probably he wouldn't be able to get away with enough to get him properly drunk but in a surge of spirited optimism he was going to try. He put his name in the box with a drink already clutched in one hand. He seemed both flustered and inordinately pleased to find Bix and Peyton in arm's length of one another, and sidled up to the latter to put a hand on her shoulder, arm snaking around her neck. This was an echo of every possessive gesture he'd ever made at Jordan around her, but was much friendlier. Bix was Bix. Even though he was a bit leery of getting dad-voice--and had thus been avoiding him studiously since their mission--he felt considerably saner in Bix's presence than nearly anywhere else. "Morning," he said to them both, sounding damn near chipper.

And then, suddenly Dorian had a Chel on his back. Leaning forward in a little shock, he watched as she snatched away some of his beloved ketchup chips, only to watch her reel and spit out the revered snack out a few moments later, which awarded her with a hearty laugh from the mist hunter, as he held on to her weight.
"Not french, fully." He answered her, watching as she tried to wash it back faster than anyone. "Ketchup. 'S ze best flavour, comes from Canada. Americans don't 'ave it and I dunno why. I really did miss it. Tastes like 'ome." He educated her, which she probably didn't care much for, but whatever. This was serious, and ketchup chips.
Turning to the hunter that she was talking to, he gave a little lazy gloved wave, trying to be as reasonable as usual.
"Bonjour. Don't believe 'er. They're perfect." While Chel was on his back.

Melvin was here for one reason only - to get off of this sad excuse of a rock and to escape in the realm of shopping and holiday decorations. He needed a breather to grasp some sanity back, and he was sure he was not getting it here. Despite being a Lifer, he knew he couldn't pull any strings to help him in this drawing, and instead just stood in line with his arms crossed and looking more tired than just getting up early would hint.
As he looked at the beer and chips at the table, he could only glance at the muttering Lifers and decide maybe he shouldn't. He knew what unwilling testing happened under the guise of free food. It was something he was debating on doing himself. Maybe he'd buy some cake mix if he got off the island for future testing.

While Lex would have thoroughly loved a vacation, he realized it wouldn't be practical in the slightest. They needed to go to Home Depot, or Lowe's, or any other sort of home repair store. He'd try to convince Ami of a grocery run, if either of them were picked, but he seriously doubted she'd agree to it.
Wistfully signing his name on a slip and dropping it in the box, Lex put a hand on Ami's shoulder. "You know, we could always get Kat to blackmail Mark for us..."

Ami shrugged off the hand on her shoulder, glaring at him for it. "While that might be ideal, it would also make every hunter on the island despise us for cheating them out of their vacation." She hadn't moved her eyes from the lab techs, watching them argue about the likelihood of failure. Maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to go now.
"As long as that idiot Mark doesn't take it for himself. That or one of the trainees," she said, annoyed. "No offense."
