Poecileth loved to spend her weekends with the twins. As an emotion dragon, the intense emotions of the twins were so fun to be around. Today, they were just out and about the city, a dragon and two manifests, just having a good time.

Talaas trotted out near her head, energetic and happy to be turned out from the dull drollness of schooling.

Mihiil loped by her tail, amused by his sister's antics.

Aidan was not a particularly rebellious child, but he was struck with wanderlust as often as any other. He still wasn't entirely comfortable outside of the Dreamery or his neighborhood, but Toby (and Aidan still wasn't entirely sure how they were related) paid a lot less attention. While the man animatedly browsed the book store ("for research," he'd said), Aidan had taken the time to travel to the street to wait. He rather enjoyed watching the different types of people that strolled about, and he was still getting used to life outside.

Dragons, though. Those were new.

The boy gawped at the creature coming down the road, flanked by what must have been companions... or was the dragon their guardian?! As they came closer, he offered a grin and stood in the hopes they'd start conversation. He lost the expectation quickly, though, and gave a wave as well. it wouldn't hurt to try and make some friends, would it? (Well, it certainly could, he thought, but he'd might as well try anyway.)

"Hullo!" he chimed through a thick Scottish brogue, "I'm Aidan."

...brilliant, he thought. That wasn't going to impress anyone!

Poecileth:

Poecileth stopped politely, waving her tail in a friendly manner. Her eyes glittered a shimmering blue, striking against white-blazed green.
He was curious- dressed like nobody she had ever seen before, and bearing chains and an otherworldly appearance, not unusual in this city.
She was indeed curious. Had the young man lost his parents, guardians, or family? Was he in need of assistance? That seemed the likeliest reason to be spoken to randomly in the park. Or, perhaps, he could just be friendly.

Talaas:

Talaas had romped a few paces ahead by the time she realized that Poe had stopped. She looked back, half annoyed and half puzzled. She went over, barely able to stay still and stood a foot or so away from the dragon.
"C'mon Poe, lets make it to the fountain and back!" she said. Why was poe talking to a complete stranger? There were things to do, so many things!
"Who is this anyway?!" she said impatiently.

Mihiil:

Mihiil looked Aidan up and down, intrigued, but not too excited. "Hello." said the desire manifest, smiling as he hung back by the dragon's tail. He looked at his sister. "He says his name is Aidan." he said, smiling mildly. "Isn't that a nice name?" Mihiil quite liked it, actually.

Talaas:

Talaas tried very hard not to stomp her feet in impatience. She blazed with energy, and she had to do things. Anythings.
"Dunno." she said, clenching her teeth to try to improve her patience.

So the dragon... the dragon talked? Well, it was sort of like talking, but it definitely wasn't moving its mouth and he couldn't really call that sounds. It was... in his head! That was pretty interesting, he'd have to ask his Da about it later, or Toby if he felt like dealing with the off-color jokes.

... oh boy, he was meant to be answering, wasn't he?

"Ach! I'm sorry, you took me by a bit o' surprise there," Aidan admitted, smiling to the dragon. He turned once to the impatient girl, but found he was significantly less interesting in interacting with her for the moment. "Are you their... I mean, their... guardian?"

He didn't know what gender it was, and he sure as Hell wasn't going to check! It talked. That was like pantsing a person.

"Thank you," he offered to the boy then, and turned again to the girl who seemed to want to be anywhere else. He looked between her and the others, and titled his head.

"We could keep goin', if you want. I might get in a spot o' trouble, but that's nothing new."

Poecileth:

she said. She wasn't actually sorry- she did like to talk- but it was always politic to say that you were and achknowledge the inconvenience. Even if it was actually incredibly convenient as a method of communicaiton. But never mind that. the dragon scrutinized the young wraith, her mind voice friendly but still somewhat neutral. It was a force of habit, brought on by her job, that made her slightly aloof. She relaxed- why be cautious around such a friendly child? She took a closer look. He had, on closer inspection a sort of... unfinished... sense to him, the same as her own twins. That was interesting, and worrying.
she asked, gesturing with her wing to allow him to join them in their walk. Where was his guardian, then?

Mihiil:

"I'm fine with stopping..." said the slightly lazy boy, before noticing that Poecileth had decided to keep walking, albeit slower. "Or going, I don't mind either way." though he did like moving slowly and taking his time. He wished his sister would calm down a little bit.

Talaas:

Poe was STILL talking to that person. At least he didn't want to stop them. She waited for Poe to catch up, hopping from one foot to another in an attempt to vent her energy.

How awesome! he wished his Da was a dragon! Well, no... no, he liked his Da as he was, but that was still pretty awesome! He had been expectin a pet or a companion, not a mother!

"Aye," he nodded, "A Manifest I am. Just freshly hatched, I suppose." He walked with the odd group, glad to have some company for now, and to be allowed to follow.

He turned to the boy then. He seemed much calmer, much more willing to chat.

"So what're your names, then?"

Mihiil:

Mihiil smiled, almost placidly. "Mihiil." he said, pointing to himself, "Talaas" he said, pointing to his sister. Why bother with much more than that? He liked the other kid, but he was enjoying his walk and talking was fun but also effort.

Talaas:

Talaas waited for her group to arrive properly, but they were so slow.
"Yes, yes, we're manifests, come on, move faster..." she grumbled, frustrated.

Poecileth:

" said the dragon, looking at Talaas, the tiniest flicker of annoyed umber flashing in her luminous eyes, but it quickly returned to her normal, swirling, pleasant blue-green as she turned back to Aidan.
she paused, tilting her head, but of course, Malta was distracted yet again by something- yet again- stressful.

Mihiil:

Mihiil nodded. Of course Malta would like to talk to this person. She liked to talk to nice people, he had noticed. "We're not too old ourselves." he said, moving so that the newcomer could walk at a reasonable pace beside them.

Talaas:

The passion manifest glared at her pokey brother. "Well we're not that new either!" she said indignantly, crossing her arms. She was tempted to just leave everybody behind and have a run to the end of the block, but she didn't want to get herself lost again. That was never fun.

Mihiil:

"Nope." he said, agreeing, "Kinda in between." kinda, sorta.

Poecileth:

Poecileth let them talk, but there was a question that burned strongly in her, fueled by a protective concern.
she asked politely,

Aidan was having a bit of trouble following every voice, every personality, but wasn't there some fun in that, too? This family must have been a lot of trouble, he'd give them that. He wanted to ask if this "Malta" person could hear the dragon, no. Poe, a person with a dragon's body, talking from far away. He decided that they must, and that was pretty awesome.

He watched the siblings fight a moment, and then turned again to their guardian.

"Ah, well. Da is back on Earth, had a meeting or summat. He left me with his partner Tobias. Like... partner-partner, not--" Alright, they probably got the idea. "He's back at the book shop there." He had no concern for getting lost (he wouldn't) or getting in trouble (he might), because he was just coming right back, and Toby was busy anyway!

Poecileth

she asked, looking towards the bookshop for a moment, thinking. Well, it looked like the young manifest could take care of itself for a little, and it would be with her, after all...
she said, making a decision.

Talaas

NO. NO NO NO. NO STOPPING. Talaas was not happy. Talaas was on the verge of a tantrum. She wanted to take a walk and she wanted to keep going. Partner partner, or partner partner partner, or partners best friends roommate's love interest's dog, the passion manifest just didn't care right now. Not about that. She wanted to go on a walk with her brother and her guardian, or - if Malta hadn't cancelled - go to lunch with her other guardian. She fumed silently, not wanting to get in trouble for flipping her s**t in public.

Mihiil

Mihiil was perfectly fine with stopping. "Earth, huh? Ever been there?" most manifests didn't leave the city, that he knew of anyway.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:24 pm

"Ah, no. Not yet," Aidan said to the boy, and then looked back at the book shop. They'd already started walking, though. He really didn't want to stop. He knew what Toby's answer would be, anyway. At least he hoped he did.

"Alrigh', I... okay." He turns and took off at a jog, picking up the weight at his feet like a precious package. He set it down gently when he stuck his head in the shop.

"Tobias!"

Toby's head peered out from near the cashier.

"Yes?"

"I'm goin' on a walk. I met a dragon, an' she's got two Manifests like me!"

"A dragon, eh? I'm just paying. Give me a moment."

Ach, no! He didn't want Toby coming! He would ask weird questions and make everyone uncomfortable.

"I don' have a moment!"

Toby rolled his eyes and gave a dismissive wave.

"Go, then. I'll catch up."

Bah, it looked like Toby was coming after all. With a bit of a put-out sigh, Aidan picked up his chains again and jogged back toward the group.

"Sorry. He's comin'."

Talaas

It had only been a few minutes since the other manifest had left them, but Talaas was just in an impatient mood.
Finally, she decided that it wasn't worth it.
"Come onnnn, he's taking forever. Lets go already!" she said, tugging at one of Poe's wings and at her brother's hand. She was positively charged with energy and she just needed to do something.
Not.
Waiting.

Mihiil

Mihiil was perfectly fine with waiting. "Its no big deal, Tal. Lets wait for him." he smiled up at Poecileth, "I think it will be more fun with him, don't you?"

Talaas
"No." said Talaas, unhappily, "It wont be more fun." She stomped. "I want to go..." she whined.

Poecileth

Poecileth gently pulled her wing away and sat on her haunches, wrapping her tail around her elegantly as she looked out towards the store that the young manifest had run off to.
She watched him return, her bright eyes glistening with interest.
she said, rumbling kindly.

she said, intrigued. She would like to meet this one's guardian, and sooner suited her as well as later. she said, ignoring Talaas's groan of aggravation.

Aidan heard the girl's complaints as he returned. He managed to offer a smile to her guardian, though. At the promise of more waiting, however, he groaned softly.

"Ahm sorry now for anything he says to upset you," he offered. Da was much better at dealing with people. Toby didn't get along with many strangers. The wraith fidgeted until Toby emerged, peered down teh road and jogged to catch up.

"You didn't have to wait for me," he said, offering a smile to the dragon. There was that spark of curiosity in his eyes, however; an appraising glance. The dragons he had met had not been quite appropriate for parenting. He'd been involved in a slaying or two, actually.

"Special Agent Tobias Reimer." He might have offered his hand, if the dragon had any. "I'm not his guardian."

"It's true," Aidan admitted as the group began to move again.

Poecileth
she remarked, watching with interest as the human approached. He definitely smelled like a human. Not quite the same as Malta, but that was to be expected. This was a human from a very different world.
she offered in return, inclining her head in a bow. Normally she did not introduce herself in that way, but her job had a lot of do-as-they-do politeness to it, so she introduced herself as she did, she began to move again, noting Talaas' obvious impatience. She would need to talk to the passion manifest about that,

Mihiil

"Hello." said Mihiil, giving Tobias an almost sleepy wave before moving a bit so that he could stride at a leisurely pace next to Aidan. "Did we tell you what we were, Aidan? I forget." He certainly didn't know what the other manifest was, and sort of wanted to know.

Talaas

Talaas was just happy to still be moving. She retrained herself from walking more than a few feet beyond Poe's head, but it was a strain. She wanted to go faster. Ugh.
She was, however, listening to her brother's conversation. She wanted to know too.

Toby was admittedly impressed by the dragon's response. He had been expecting something of intelligence, but not something like that. So they worked here in this world, perhaps even lived here full time. She also didn't seem to be protecting any particular stash of treasure or roasting any unwitting suburbanites, which was a nice change. The telepathic speaking was something he was more used-to, and it didn't seem to cause so much as a flinch in the man.

"Ah, yes. Not so much... business partner, just partner. He's a good friend of mine. A big black sack of ooze, hard to miss him." Aidan gave the werewolf one hell of a look, and Toby just shrugged. "The sooner you come to accept it, the better it'll be for everyone. Your Dad is sentient ooze, and he's not any less human for it." His attention then turned back to the dragon.

"If I may ask, what world are you from?"

Aidan's attention was once again with the other Manifests.

"Ah, yes. To a point, I guess. We're all Manifests, aren't we? Although I think there's certain sub-types, aren't there. No, then. I haven't been told."

Talaas

Ooze? What?
She would focus on her guardian's conversation later, she decided.
"The subtype's, like, the most important part..." muttered Talaas. Maybe he wasn't an idiot. Maybe he was just misinformed or ignorant.
That was what she told herself anyway.
She was feeling that tingly feeling again - that feeling that meant she was about to change focus. She walked a little faster with some trepidation. What would her new project be? What would she want to obsess over next? Currently, it was walking, but her focus was dividing, bit by bit. She had been trying, with Malta, to work on the whole focus-on-one-thing-to-the-end thing, but when she got the 'switching feeling'... there was nothing she could do. To the fire hydrant, to the fountain, at least to the fountain... she told herself. She would at least achieve that goal for herself.

Mihiil

Mihiil looked at Tobi with mild curiousity. Ooze? It sounded like they had an interesting family! He wanted to hear more, but it was a lot of extra effort to ask what Poe was probably going to ask anyway. He'd just let her carry that conversation. Maybe he'd join it later, if his sister would stop being huffy and actually keep pace with them.
Instead, he turned back to Aidan, ignoring his sister's comment. "Mmhmm." he said, nodding encouragingly, "Tal and I are Emotional manifests. I'm Desire, and she's Passion." he shrugged, "But I guess we kinda are all the same thing. Dreams and stuff."

Poecileth

Not a business partner. A good friend. Sounded quite a bit like her relationship to Malta unless he was... something more?

Poecileth, in her official capacity as a neutral party, liked to think of herself as an open minded dragon. The concept of a romantic relationship with an Ooze... which she could only assume was something gooey and viscous and amorphous, considering the way the word sounded... It was unpleasant. Her ever-revealing eyes flickered a brief shimmer of silvery grey and sunny yellow, showing her dismay and uncertainty and maybe a little bit of fear, before she forced herself to calm down. They returned to their deep green-blue depths. Clearly, she wasn't as open minded as she thought she was.
she sent privately to her human.

she replied.
Her future research secured, she decided to address his question.
she said thoughtfully, She didn't normally have a reason to talk about her and Malta's home reality, there was a hint of a wry smile in her mental 'voice'
