Trainer: Misaki Akiyama
Age: 27
Appearance: A petite man who typically keeps his shoulder length golden hair tied back into a low ponytail. His skin is usually sporting a light tan while his eyes are a gleaming hazel behind his wire rimmed glasses.
Personality: An eccentric man who sympathasizes more with plants than he would humans, Misaki loves spending time with nature and especially in his greenhouse located near the flower shop. It’s not unheard of for him to disappear for weeks at a time on some crazy quest for a new plant as he is a decently well-known botanist. Still despite his odd social skills the man has a good heart and a warm, if slightly crazy, smile.
Occupation: Florist, Botanist

History: A cousin to Rui Akiyama who was the original trainer to capture Ilmari when he was just a cottonee he convinced her to allow him to help the poke-human who was desperate to return to the city after traveling with her. Secretly he was fascinated by the grass pokémon now turned human and so the man decided he would help the now teen out with life as a poke-human by providing him a place to sleep in the empty apartment space above the shop. This allowed him to closely observe him better and to also have the grass pokémon help him with his flower shop.

It’s not unheard of for Misaki to hide in the greenhouse for days or to disappear on his adventures leaving Ilmari in charge of the shop. Often because of that even when he is home, he will send Ilmari on most of the delivery and errand runs during the colder months.

I remember a time when I was a young pokémon, the memory that stands above all others before my transformation…it was such a beautiful day originally that turned into a terrible dark nightmare. A sudden storm that was announced by the scattering of murkrow through the trees tore me away from my home and I found myself stuck, trapped between rocks where the streams were rising rapidly. Then there in my dismay an angel appeared…she was glowing, a child yet a pokémon at the same time, and she had freed my little body from being crushed. In shame I fled from her when I was strong enough to wake up and I doubt she even remembers me today since I saw that she helped many during that time. But it was then that I decided that I wanted to change to become strong…then Rui found me and before I could return to that angel I was traveling far away from my forest home on a pokémon quest that would help me to change even further

Blinking at the worn ceiling of his room Ilmari rolled over before finally rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Out of all the dreams to have why did it have to be of that day again? Sighing his hand fumbled around the edge of the covers before he finally found the off button for the alarm that was still chirping at him. It was eight am and that meant it was time to open the shop, “Another day.” He felt too restless for just staying at the shop and lately was thankful for the errands Misaki always pushed on him. Ilmari was still nervous from the fact that he had finally managed to locate the shrine that had been rumored about where a strange poke-human resided. Seeing her, not being bold enough to approach her, yet sending out a wind attack to help her when she fell had been enough to keep him on edge. What if she had spotted him? He must have looked like such a creeper then! Rubbing his forehead as he leaned closer to the mirror in his room the teen sighed, “Great job, Ilmari. I’m sure she’ll see you now. Hell you don’t even know her name.”

Still it had been enough to make his heart race.

Even now as he pulled on clothing and did the boring basics of getting himself together for a new day the whimsicott felt his heart clench at the memory of seeing her. She had grown as well. He stared at the hand which opened the door for him, “So have I.” His own form was completely different so even if she did remember a cottonee then there was no resemblance between this human and his previous evolution remaining now…save for the gleam in his amber eyes which surveyed the walls of plants which greeted him as he came downstairs. Even as distracted as he was Ilmari still knew to duck and to quickly step down into the firm wooden floor of the front room. Whoosh! Another arrow? He frowned before dodging the attack of the older human.

“Ilmari!” Misaki pushed his glasses back up on his nose, “You really have better reflexes! The arrow today was only an inch from your face! Your precision is really something then you moved just a half second earlier…” Reaching down the man scribbled on his notepad while Ilmari just stared at him in faint amusement.

“I thought you were done with rigging up morning tests for me.” Reaching over to fix a plant who was leaning sideways Ilmari shook his head, “Rui said to take care of me not threaten my life every morning with something crazy.”

“I trust you to be fine, Ilmari.” There it was that insane smile of his, “Plus she knows I’m interested in your everything! You’re a very unique specimen to me…”

“Well there went my hopes of friendship-“

“Only friends can be such good specimens.” Misaki laughed before handing over an elegant bouquet, “It’s an early morning delivery for the school that’s right around – “

“Address is on the card right?”

“Ye-“

“Then I’ve got it.” Throwing his scarf around his neck the whimsicott smiled back at Misaki, “I’ll go deliver this along with the rest and you get to take care of anything new then if you give me the afternoon off I’ll let you have free range later on.”

“Really?” His hazel eyes gleamed behind his glasses dangerously, “So anything would be okay?”

“We’ll see.” Closing the door behind him the teen placed the deliveries on the basket in his bicycle. Time to get going so that he could go visit the forest later and then maybe…just maybe he would find more answers out and find her again…

That was if he survived the experiments he just promised.

Sighing Ilmari just shook his head before starting off on his way.

A Letter of Worry

I’m slightly worried.

Rui hasn’t been able to visit as much anymore and Misaki has been acting strangely. Normally his experiments are fun and carefree, but lately he seems stressed. It’s almost as if there’s something pressing on him that’s making the light hearted guy act strange. I know I haven’t been living here long with him, but it really is a strange feeling. The past week has been too quiet as well. Almost as if there’s some calm before the storm. Or maybe it’s me feeling nonchalant? Ever since meeting Mitsuru I’ve been wondering about how she’s doing at her shrine, but the flower shop has been keeping me busy. Misaki has also found many reasons to keep me occupied it seems. Almost as if he’s afraid I’ll wander away for too long and not come back.

Everything seems lackluster now and honestly I do miss the forest. Strange how a comfortable house with a nice neighborhood can seem so empty. I even miss the constant travels and fights that Rui and I would get into on our travels. Perhaps Misaki is right in trying to keep me busy. Is my boredom here so obvious? Then again the shadows under his eyes look pretty obvious as well. Something is wrong and I’m determined to try and find the reason.

For now though I suppose I’ll keep looking after the shop and running errands. There’s not much else for me to do…I could visit the shrine, but I’m afraid. Won’t me visiting feel like I’m pressing myself on her too much? I don’t want her to worry about me either. Whatever this situation is becoming I’ll fight my own way out of it. Not like Misaki would ever mean me harm either. The guy is too gentle despite his wacky ways. I’m just more worried about the dark suits I have spotted him with before.

They come from some other organization and they seem to have their eye on this scientist. Is it because he has an interest in poke-humans as well? I know I’ve done several experiments with him, but that’s just a light hearted hobby of his. Plant and grass, bug pokémon are his true specialties when it comes to his studies. Still I really don’t like the vibe those other guys give me. The one time they came by the shop Misaki truly reacted in a panic. He shoved them quickly away with talks of a good coffee shop to talk at instead.

I think I should call Rui and see how she’s been. I even miss that sulking absol some days. Maybe I really should have stayed with the life of travel. But I do enjoy life here, don’t get me wrong, I can find pleasure in helping out others I run across in the city that are poke-humans like me. Also the simple day to day tasks of raising the plants and making the bouquets is relaxing. Delivering them to people and seeing how happy even a simple flower can make them is a light feeling.

I don’t want to hide behind my flowers though. Making bouquets and raising plants is not helping with the darkness lurking nearby. I have another long list of orders and deliveries from Masaki again that I’m working on. Really the man is not letting me have any breathing room. It really is puzzling thinking about what he could potentially be up to. Actually…it’s really worrying. I might sneak out to the shrine today then.

Because in my heart I have a feeling that won’t go away.

The worry truly is gnawing my insides.

Then again what could possibly go wrong?

I think I’ll go back to training more regularly now. This is not the time to be weak.

Ilmari gets a delivery boy (America!)

Another busy morning.

Reaching up towards a shelf Ilmari grabbed one of the many vases that decorated the wall, “This one looks good to me.” Smiling he took the rose colored vase and began to quickly fill it with flowers. Despite his speed at the job Ilmari’s gaze was kind and thoughtful as he arranged the flowers together and tied the ribbon around the base. Roses and lilies were placed together in a dainty display. Hopefully this time the flowers wouldn’t be completely destroyed…rather than being angry the whimsicott just grinned at the memory of his new delivery boy’s first delivery. It’s Wednesday let’s see if he keeps to what I said. Only time would tell though.

Hopefully that messenger bag would help poor America with his deliveries. Normally Ilmari would do all of the work on his own, but seeing the rufflet struggling so much with the random deliveries had softened his heart. So he had taken the risk of hiring a part-timer. Misaki was so busy lately that he was never around so Ilmari basically ran the shop by himself anyways. So what could it hurt to pay the kid a bit to do deliveries? Well minus the first mishap that is…

Those poor daisies, but they had led to him finally having a reason to give away a gift to America….

He still remembered throwing the package towards America, “Here kid.” He looked towards America boldly, “I figure this might be something you would need.”

“Eh?” Scrunching his nose America protested “I know I made a mistake, but really…”

“Just look at it.”

“Fine.” Ilmari remembered how priceless the surprise on America’s face had been. America’s gaze widened as he held out the sturdy messenger bag that looked like it could hold anything. There was even a part that could zip to keep things tucked inside and an area to tie a basket to so that he could fly with even more things. It was much better than the hole filled bag he had and far better than just using his arms! Blinking the rufflet looked over towards Ilmari, “Are…are you sure? It looks rather nice.”

Ilmari chuckled, “It’s perfectly fine by me. Mitsaki had a couple lying about so I figured it would be smart giving you one. “ It might have been a slight lie since Ilmari had gone out on his own to find the rufflet one, but still…what he didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him.

“So I don’t maul anymore deliveries?” He grumped sharply acting as if accepting someone’s kindness was a strange thing. Seeing that broke Ilmari’s heart even more. How much did the others go through because of human scorn? He felt like very few trusted anyone anymore. It really was a shame.

“That could be a reason.” Ilmari had just smiled, “As is you should definitely be fine now and here…the list for today.” With that he handed over a box full of flowers, each beautifully decorated and featuring their own little address card, “You sure you got this?”

America nodded, “Yep.”

Watching the kid leave Ilmari smiled. Wasn’t so bad now was it? He really hoped the rufflet would like the bag and that it really could help him. It would do much better than that old, ragged satchel that he had been trying to use with deliveries. And now he could actually fly with several errands at once rather than taking a long trip for one at a time. Ilmari really did hope that it could help.

After all wasn’t helping others what he wanted to do with his life?

Ilmari would rather spend a million dollars seeing someone’s smile than taking someone’s smile for that money. He lived on the happiness of others and would hopefully continue doing so. Something though bothered him at the back of his mind at the thought. Could life really be so easy and simple? Just like with anything the brighter a light would shine, the more dangerous the shadow it would leave behind. Is that why others like Tryce preferred the shadows? They were much more comfortable than being a light that the shadows would fight to cover.

Still it couldn’t hurt to hope for the best, right?

Dazzling Gleam Learned!

Scrunching her nose Amalie stared intently at the design sketches laying on her desk. Everything was a mess about her with screws and gears lying here and there and even coils of wires were curled about her chair in the sea of materials. Why can’t I figure out this one piece? Just need a power… Ears twitching the megalopunny frowned. Was that noise from her front room? Who would be at the shop at this hour?

Sighing she cursed her luck and tucked her pencil in her hair, “Seriously? Couldn’t ya wait…” Her words trailed off as she opened the shop door, “Ilmari?” Frowning the lobunny moved back to let the whimsicott come inside, “Why are you here?” As much as she missed seeing her old friend, it was strange to actually see him again at this hour. The last time she remembered was when he was carrying a half-dead Tryce into her apartment.

Looking as serious as he had that night Ilmari shrugged off his jacket, “Amalie I need your help.” His expression was a mix between worry and determination, “Can you train me for a few days?”

Blinking the mega frowned, “You came here at nearly midnight to ask for my help with training?” Hands crossing before her she shook her head, “I swear…what is up with you guys not being able to wait until dawn at least?”

“I know.” Ilmari sighed, “I’m just feeling so restless lately. I’m worried…”

Raising an eyebrow the woman locked the door behind him, “It must be something to have you wanting to train with me again.”

“A bit.” Ilmari offered a small smile, “Maybe I really just missed my old battle buddy as well.”

“Hah!” Amalie laughed as she led the way towards the back rooms of the shop, “I feel like that’s a bit too much there. You know Tryce will sometimes start up with those tales before asking for a favor.” She shook her head lightly. What was she to do with these boys? Opening the door to one of the backrooms Amalie led the way into a chamber that was akin to a gym. A wide open area for fighting with machines along the side for training.

Despite the tinkerer’s odd ways with machines and inventions she was also famous for her old battles. Those who knew the mega before she turned human, even after she was human, knew her for her immense strength and ability. She was definitely someone to not underestimate. Ilmari definitely felt safe training in her hands, “Still…do you think you’re up to help me?”

“Of course.” Amalie winked over towards him as she dragged out a case, “You just happen to be in luck. I’ve needed a fairy type to volunteer…”

“Eh?”

“Here.” Thrusting a disc into his hands Amalie grinned, “I think you should be able to use it well.”

“What is this?”

“A TM for a fairy move. Rare right?”

“I suppose…”

“Come on let’s try it!”

Ilmari found himself being dragged out by the mega into the center of the room, “Really right now Amalie?”

“Why not?” She cracked her knuckles, “I’ve been dying for a fight.”

Well he had asked for some serious training. Taking a deep breath Ilmari braced himself. This was going to be a very long and painful period of “vacation” time. He was just glad he had managed to get a break so that he could go and do this. Whether he had to do it in the late hours of the night or not didn’t matter. He would get stronger so that he could protect the one dear to him. As Amalie came towards him Ilmari held up his hands for his new move, Dazzling Gleam!

I will become stronger and protect you, I promise.

Moonblast!

It was a pure moonlit night.

Walking along the sidewalk Ilmari found himself pacing around the alleyways that were near Amalie’s shop. Since coming here at dark the teen had found himself getting bolder about what lurked in the shadows. He knew that without “Ace” nearby to keep control the gangs were usually up to no good. Tonight would probably prove no different, but Amalie had asked that he take care of any noise in the area. She was working on a stressful project and didn’t want to take the time to go beat them up herself.

So he was on patrol.

So much for training tonight. Shoving his hands in his pockets Ilmari just sighed, “I hope she doesn’t have me on some silly chase.”

“Chase who would do that?” Slipping down from the fire exit of a building was a pyroar teen with fire dancing along her skin, “Are you the guy that Amalie said was on patrols too?” She wrinkled her nose as she looked him over, “You look too…fluffy for this stuff.”

Ilmari chuckled, “I’m guessing you’re Kenna then. She told me she had picked up a kid that had evolved recently.”

“Eh, more like I put up with her and her strange requests.” Shrugging the girl reached into a holder on her leg to draw out some throwing knives, “Still I’d rather be fighting somewhere else than in this mess. They never give up around here though.”

Raising an eyebrow Ilmari looked back at her, “So this is a common thing?”

Kenna nodded, “There’s always territory wars around here and black market fights. Without Ace it’s a free for all since his gang won’t stop them from using these streets. Makes quite a damn ruckus really.”

“Gotcha.” He remembered Amalie and how easily offended the mega could get when it came to her projects. Being so close to a lot of nighttime fighting would only fuel her rage. A shiver went down his back at some of the memories of times Tryce and he had accidentally interrupted her. Those were a long time ago, but even now my back still aches.

“Speak of the devils.” Kenna moved forward with a grin, “Hey! You guys better scram!”

The groups hesitated before only spotting the two poke-humans. Since both weren’t recognized by them and there was no sign of Ace’s gang of thieves the groups just laughed at the pyroar. Almost as if she was waiting for it Kenna rushed forward with flames burning against the two groups who continued fighting and making the ruckus.

Sighing Ilmari set down his bag, I guess I better help before Amalie comes out. Sending out gusts of winds Ilmari found himself caught in the fight. His newest move took too much out of him still and the whimsicott was afraid that too much light from the gleam might cause even more ruckus. What else could he do? The alleys were too crowded for his wind to do much and with Kenna’s fire that would be a disaster…

Light a burst of light a sudden shift in the clouds revealed the brilliance of the full moon. Suddenly Ilmari felt the fairy part of his nature, now awakened by the TM that Amalie had taught him, move into action. The moon was perfect and powerful. Connecting with it was only natural then for him. “Moonblast!” The power rushed through him and shot over the groups with a vengeance.

It was a powerful move that exploded around the fighting groups. Finally they were getting the message that tonight wasn’t the best for a fight in the alleys. Panting Ilmari leaned against a wall as he watched them scatter away. There…hopefully that’ll keep things quiet for Amalie. He still was in shock from how powerful he had felt in that short moment. Who knew being a fairy could be so useful?

Moonblast…what a new move.
