PERSONALITY
A man who knows the meaning of hard work, but will always take the easier route, whether it be through crime or pure laziness. That is not to say he doesn't enjoy a challenge - on the contrary, he loves them. But he's finicky, and abhors work - engaging in that which he enjoys is far more appealing. During the rare times he has to do something less appealing, he's likely to make a big fuss about it. Monetary wealth means little; it is adventure he seeks, not business, and should he need something, he has little qualms against taking it. A trickster of dubious morality, he is not one to be trusted easily, unless your interests coincide with his, and even then, relying on him is a gamble. He's stubborn, quick to resist change, and his only commitments are to himself and to the sea. Flirting, however, is one of his favorite past times. He has a sort of weakness when it comes to women, especially the 'damsel in distress' type, and attempts to charm every last one of them. Other than women and rum, Finn loves a good fight - to test his blade against another brings him true joy.
BIO
The son of a sailor and a barmaid, Finn was raised with one foot on land, and one foot in the water. His parents owned a small cabin by the sea, and every night his father was away, Finn would sit out on the rocks, watching the horizon for sign of his father's ship. His mother worked hard to provide, and his father always sent money home, but it was barely enough. They struggled, and though his parents loved one another, their marriage was strained, the strain only increasing with each year that passed. It was when he caught his mother in the arms of another man, that Finn decided love was not worth the pain - it could not even be trusted.
Despite their infidelities, their marriage held on, and life continued much the same. Finn spent as much time as he could near the sea, and though he tried, he found it difficult to hold a job. The work didn't interest him, and slowly, he slipped into a life of petty crime and mischief. With his father always at sea, and his mother always working, young Finn practically raised himself, and did not have the sort of parental presence required to teach a child right from wrong properly. His mother tried to rein him in, but her efforts were feeble at best.
Eventually, Finn's father stopped returning home all together - presumably lost at sea - and his mother stopped trying all together. Finn slipped further into darkness, and over time, his mother grew ill. Finn hardly noticed, until the day she died. He mourned, certainly, for the loss of both parents, but he didn't feel alone - he had always been alone. He was a young man at the time, a few years shy of twenty, and with no desire to find proper work, he turned to theft in order to survive, and eventually, piracy. It was a life he found comfortable - his true calling. It allowed for adventure, a life at sea, women, rum, and crime - what wasn't to love?

"While still considered pests by many, mice that have been affected by the magic of the Wardwood make highly affectionate pets; they are also notably more intelligent than ordinary mice, able to learn their names, respond to a wide range of commands, and accumulate an almost unlimited repertoire of tricks."
