Attack on Mermaid a self-explanatory raid Most hunters would receive the following mass-text the afternoon of October 15th: Quote: To: BCC All From: Konstantin Bashmet We are organizing a raid to eliminate the troublesome mermaids reducing the efficiency of our rune gathering efforts. Congregate on the beach at 5PM sharp. Arrived with both your diving and combat equipment readily available. Latecomers are welcome but will receive no guidance. Afterwards, Konstantin stared at his phone, nervous. Perhaps he was in over his head, but at least Mimsy had offered to assist in sharing the information. Nonetheless, when 5pm rolled around, he stood at the beach, greeting anyone who came his way. The OoC Man, I sure hope we have enough dudes for this. Before participating, please read the following: gaia_crown You MUST be off cooldown before you can post. If your cooldown is not up until tomorrow, for example, you may join in once 12am PDT rolls around tonight. Please note that ICly, it will be the 'next week' for your character in comparison to their previous rune excursion. Hopefully that makes sense. Basically, it means wibbly wobbly timelines. gaia_crown Before you can attack the mermaids, you must complete the "swimming down" portion of rune finding, and then must find the mermaids during the "exploring the caves" portion of the excursion. Check the next post! Don't expand this, it's a gigantic freaking quote list of QUOTES.

What to Roll in case you forget, like me Swimming Down In the water surrounding the island there's numerous edlritch horrors of the deep waiting to attack your hunter. Roll 1d6 1: a massive sea creature attacks you. Roll 1d20 to escape its gaping maw. If you roll 10+ you escape it, if you roll below you receive 10 damage and need to try again. 2: a bus-sized sea creature attack you. It has 30 HP and 5 auto damage. You can escape it by rolling 1d20 and getting 13+, failure results in auto damage. 3: a small-sized sea creature attack you. It has 15 HP and 3 auto damage. You can escape it by rolling 1d20 and getting 15+, failure results in auto damage. 4: you are safe. 5: you are safe. 6: you are safe. Exploring the Caves Some of the caves house many useful stones, other house things waiting to kill you. You can keep on collecting for as long as your willing to risk it (or until you die.) Roll 1d6 1: A few stones! Roll 1d4 to see how many you find in this cave! 2: Sentient sea weed aggressively gropes you! Roll 1d4 to see how much damage it does! 3: A nice amount of stones! Roll 1d8 to see how many you find in this cave! 4: Tentacles! Roll 1d8 to see how much damage they do! 5: A bunch of stones! Roll 1d10 to see how many you find in this cave! 6: Mermaids! You encounter a group of mermaids with grey skin, hungry smiles, and glowing blue eyes. Group HP: 777 Auto-damage: 5 (once they are under 100 hp, the blood in the water causes them to enter a frenzy, increasing auto damage to 10) Escape: Roll 1d20, if 10+ you escape, failure results in auto-damage. Upon Defeat: this area becomes permanently mob free and reveals a large cache of stones, roll 1d20 to see how many you find in this cave!

With no intention of waiting on the beach all evening, Mimsy rolled her eyes at the others, opting to push this into motion.
"Come along. Try to avoid drowning, dismemberment, decapitation, or any general forms of death." She gestured towards the water before wading into the ocean, not bothering to see if anyone was following before she disappeared beneath the surface.

This had actually taken some intense, wall-staring, weapon-arguing struggle. On the one hand, defeating the mermaids, keeping busy, making self useful, etc.
On the other hand, crowds of people on the beach and Taym with his chicken legs and stolen swim trunks and he hoped to god their former owner wasn't around on top of every other indignation.
(Long sleeves + swim trunks. Good look, Taym.)
Might as well make the best of things: wait til the leviathans are distracted by other, presumably more calorie-efficient morsels, and swim like hell. Which he did.

Having done this once before, and being a strong swimmer, Shiloh was reasonably confident. He still hadn't managed to snag a wetsuit, so his swimming trunks still had to fulfill the position as diving outfit, no matter how ill-suited they were for the job. He made the journey without incident, and it seemed Taym had too. He gave the man a small wave and smile, and waited for the rest of their group to arrive.

Candace was happy to help. She liked Kostya, he was a good boy. Taym was given an odd look, mostly because she had never seen him dressed that way before. Eat a goddamn sandwich, man.
Shaking her head, Candace stripped off the clothes she was wearing over her bright yellow and white polka-dot bikini and grabbed an air tank. After making sure it was secure she quickly got in the water...
And attracted a creature. Good thing it was small.

Not far past the transition of walking to swimming, some sort of combination shark-lizard came to greet Mimsy. She gave it a pleasant, dismissive wave. It bit her hand.

It had only been a matter of time before Wilson decided to go rune hunting. Actually, he probably would've been too lazy to do s**t until Kostya had sent out the text. Now he had an excuse to do something. Hurrah.
Swimming? Not so hurrah. Why couldn't the rune-making occur in some nice, snowy place? People and their sea creatures. u_u

Alaska wasn't particularly in the mood to make runes, but it seemed like a good cause so she supposed she could dig up a swimsuit and help try to defeat these mermaids. They sounded absolutely rabid, though...
And then she found a sea creature. A+
