The Glossary || Guild Terminology Explanations
This guild uses a lot of Terminology that some people can't quite get to grips with, therefore, I have taken it upon myself to explain some of these tricky terms as best as I can. Look below at the current glossary and we will add things as we go along if we believe it necessary.
Void Earth: Void Earth is the Alternate Universe the guild is set in. In this version of the DC Continuity designed by Uchiha Roxas, the Flashpoint event has had some drastic consequences and one of those consequences is a splinter dimension called Void Earth. Void Earth has absorbed all the damage to the timestream done by the Flashpoint Paradox and in an effort to rectify itself deleted all the Heroes from existence but left their Rogues to terrorize the world. As the last one left, Batman activated the Legacy Initative: A plan which not only preserved the League's memory but also gave birth to the Legacies.
Alternate Universe: An Alternate Universe is a Universe set aside from a canonical source text, in this case the DCnU, which can use canon characters and ideas under different circumstances. They are very commonly used in comics to stop one-off story lines interfering with the main continuity. Void Earth is an example of this, as is the DCAU or DC Animated Universe. They both use source material but diverge on certain points.
The Legacy Initiative: The Legacy Initiative is a plan concocted by Batman to save Void Earth. Using Zeta-Beam technology, Batman basically punched reality and caused the League's memory not to be deleted from Void Earth and for the Legacies to emerge along the time stream.
Zeta-Beam Travel: Zeta-Beams or Zeta-Particles are a make believe concept from the DC Hero Adam Strange. It allows people to basically warp from place to place and has been applied by the Justice League to full effect.
Legacies: Legacies are Spacio-Temporal Anomalies caused by the Legacy Initiative. These seemingly random people are chosen by fate to inherit the mantle's of one of the previous heroes of Earth. It was only Earth Heroes who were effected by the steps Void Earth took to repair itself because it was the center of the Flashpoint Paradox. So, characters like Saint Walker of the Blue Lantern Corps still exist because he does not originate or operate mainly on Earth. Legacies usually have the exact same abilites as the hero they are meant to replace.
Legacy Patches: Legacy Patches are an OOC concept used by the Moderators to add more Legacies to our Roster. Patches are the individual lists of heroes that are added to our pool of Heroes known as "The Roster". Most Patches will follow a theme such as the first ever released Pacth "Ladies of the League" which was an all female Legacy List.
Spacio-Temporal Anomaly: Spacio-Temporal Anomalies are basically the "errors" in space and time that have been caused by multiple events and for a plethora of reasons.
Prime Earth: Prime Earth is the main DC Continuity after Flashpoint where the NEW 52 takes place. There have been minor and major edits done to characters in Prime Earth and it is not to be confused with Earth-Prime. Void Earth is a safety measure that protects Prime Earth from the spacio-temporal damages brought on by the Flashpoint Paradox.
New Earth: New Earth is the pre-Flashpoint DC main continuity.
Flashpoint: Flashpoint was a major event in the DC Comics franchise that paved the way for the NEW 52 and also serves as the primary reason for Void Earth and as a result, this guild. We have a full summary of the Flashpoint event here.
The Universal Law: The Universal Law is a Spacio-Temporal Anomaly that allows travel between alternate dimensions such as Hell, Heaven, Olympus, Apokolypse and New Genesis but does not allow dimensional travel back in time or to Alternate Earths such as Prime Earth. It's almost like a lock to protect the rest of the Multiverse, or atleast what's left of it, from the adverse effects of Flashpoint.
