The area around this booth is unusually quiet. It seems as though an aura of silence radiates from it, somehow managing to prompt those even walking by to lower their loud and exhuberant voices to a quiet whisper until they pass it. The booth itself doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary. Wooden slats of boards are nailed tightly to form a booth, covered in a soft cloth.
Perhaps it is the figure that sits at the booth that prompts such silence. The Amityville gym teacher Professor Red is managing the booth. Anyone who approaches the booth is noticed and greeted with a warmth dependant entirely on how much (or how little) she happens to like who she's speaking to. She also appears to be working on sewing a bat-shaped plushie together.
QUICK OOC ANNOUNCEMENT!
I am going to be GONE irl from the 15-21st! Just assume Red's working on a plush and making small talk, and that she'll hand blank plushies to those that write three questions/pay for one~
The booth itself is littered with pamphlets providing information on the Boogeymen. There's also a large box with a question mark on it in addition to blank slips of paper. There are also many bat plushies, each wearing a tiny little cloak. A small cluster of bats in the various dorm colors is nearby, along with a bunch that are plain white. There's even a wide variety of fabric pens as well...

BOOTH PAMPHLETS
Just what is a Boogeyman anyway? A Boogeyman refers to an individual authorized and recognized by Halloween to uphold and enforce the law. Their job specifics can be difficult to pin down: sometimes they act like the police, othertimes like a member of an army. Not all Boogeymen take jobs on the front line, as there are plenty of backjobs from scientist to jailer to minipet tracker to so much more!
How can I identify a Boogeyman? The easiest way is to look for someone in a cloak. Apart from the cloak, most Boogeymen wear a bodysuit however some opt to wear excessively formal or extremely casual clothes. If you're unsure, ask to see their badge. If they refuse to show their badge, then you are likely dealing with an imposter. Please report said imposter to an authorize Boogeyman immediately, or dial 999 on your skellyphone immediately.
What traits does a Boogeyman badge have? A badge can only be summoned by a Boogeyman, or Boogeyman in training. This badge will also double as their identification card; the back will contain their name, rank, and their general duties. As a Boogeyman does a large number of various jobs, the tasks one particular Boogeyman is used to doing will be displayed here.
How can I tell a real badge from a fake? There are two methods. The first is that the center of a Boogeyman badge will display the emblem of someone who vouches for the badge carrier. The clarity (or how well you can see this emblem) is dependent entirely on how well their standing is with someone. If the emblem is faint, then you'll know the badge carrier currently isn't in high standing.
In addition, the bottom of the badge has the mascot of the Boogeyman for that region. To use an example, for the Amityville area it is a bat. If you place your thumb (or appendage) over this bat and say "ID," the bat should turn black and the badge itself will glow. Upon handing it back to the Boogeyman, the bat should turn the same color as their cloak and stop glowing.
Is there a differance in Boogeyman cloaks? Not really. The color of a cloak is dependant on the Fear of the officer who created it. Typically the more patterns and colors in a cloak, the more difficult it is to reproduce and the more Fear it takes to make it.
What about lengths? Just like color, the length of a Boogeyman cloak is dependant on the officer who created it. However, the officers that work desk jobs tend to favor the shorter near-shawl short lengths whereas those on the job favor the longer and more dramatic-looking ones.
How much does a Boogeyman earn? Pay is dependent on how much effort an officer puts in, and what they preferred to be paid in. Some are paid with silver seeds whereas others are paid in additional Fear amounts. Different cases have different rewards (if any).
Why do it? Answer varies depending on the Boogeyman themselves. It would be wise to ask your local officers and get their opinions!
Is it true that the Boogeymen sometimes offer jobs to civilians? If you are referring to becoming a Boogeyman? Then yes. If you aren't, then yes to that as well! The Boogeymen sometimes offer jobs to civilians looking to earn additional cash. Inside the Boogeyman head quarters there is a board where anyone can post a job request, and anyone can accept a job request as well. If you want additional information regarding a job, please consult the Job Counter at your local Boogeyman HQ.
What's up with all the bats? The bat is this region's Boogeyman mascot! Other popular Boogeymen mascots are the cat, snake, and scorpion.

Asked Questions:
Can a Boogeyman take on more than one job while being on duty? Yes, however the Boogeymen do request a record of what jobs you are doing. That way if a case comes up, you won't be assigned a case if you're already too busy with something else.
What sort of qualifications do you have to have to become a Boogyman? Schooling, skills, etc.
Do Boogeymen receive any training?
Do Boogeymen operate alone, or as a coordinated team?
How does one apply to be a Boogeyman?
Are there different symbols/mascots for different areas? Yes.
What does the science part of being a Boogeyman entail?
How long does one stay in this job, usually?
How often are Boogeymen called upon to fight?
Is it fun being a Boogeyman? Red: Yes. Your answer may vary depending on who you ask.
How often does a Boogeymen get called away on a job? Boogeymen are called on an as-needed basis depending on their skills. And whatever sort of case pops up.
How can you tell a Boogeyman cloak apart from a standard one someone might wear if they're a fan?
The box doesn't appear to be anything special, however there are a couple pens tied to it with unbreakable string along with piles of blank white paper. Someone had taken the time to write some instructions nearby:
Quote:
Do you have a question about the Boogeymen? Please write it here and drop it in the box! After writing a question you can go ahead and take a bat plush too! Please keep the questions serious and refrain from joke questions thank you.
After glancing at the rest of the booth, it appears this booth mainly provides information on the Boogeyman career. Perhaps it might be worth flipping through the pamphlets before writing a question or two down?
QUESTION FOR THE QUESTION BOX
*** Write your question here! You can put more than one question in a box. These questions will help shape the Boogeyman information guide so please keep your questions serious and refrain from asking joke questions or drawing questionable things thank you!
If you want a plush but can't think of a question, you may pay Red 3 silver seeds per plush. Proceeds from this sale will be put towards your local charities. ***
Stumped as far as a question goes and don't want to ICly pay? Why not provide some feedback on the battle system? I'm always open to suggestions or even questions concerning the battle system. If you have a question about it please feel free to post your question here, or even PM it to me if you're feeling a little shy. I'm also open to Fear attack suggestions! You don't need to come up with mechanics -- just the idea would work, ie "I'd like to see an attack that deals a lot of damage at the cost of potentially damaging the user."

These must be the plushies the instructions refer to. There's one for each dorm, and there's even a couple made after the Amityville and Horseman banners too!
In addition to the bat plushes she claims to have stitched together herself, it appears that Red also has a collection of blank bat plushes ready to be customized. She also has fabric pens you can use, however said plushes happen to be behind her. In order to get one, it looks like you'll have to do a couple things...
The OOC
To get: - Use the "question box" form two posts up to write THREE genuine non-joke questions you or your character has about the Boogeyman faction. - Alternatively, RP your character giving Red 10 silver seeds.
Once you've done either of these two things, you may download the template. However, please keep these rules in mind: - Please keep the eyes ONE SOLID COLOR! You can color one eye differently, but please don't add any eyeshines/gradients/etc to them! - Feel free to change the colors of the nose/batclasp/etc. - Please don't edit the lines. Adding SMALL THINGS like flowers etc is okay, but please keep the cloaks on and more or less whole. - Please don't hide/remove the stitches! - If you know what you're doing, you may fiddle with the shading. If you're unsure, I highly recommend that you leave all shading/shadow layers alone!
Please download the template corresponding to your photo editing program of choice.
Templates: - batplushie.psd (Photoshop Friendly) - batplush.sai (SAI Friendly) - batplush.xcf (GIMP Friendly - please note that I personally do not use GIMP and that this is as close as I could get it to my temps)
Once you're done, upload it to your image server of choice. I'd love to see what you all come up with, so please don't be shy about posting them! If you need help, you can post what you'd like a plush to look like. Either myself or someone armed and ready with a photo editing program will swoop it up and make it for you!
Is there a limit? No limit so long as you ask three *NEW* questions or RP paying Red! The questions you guys ask will help me shape the Boogeyman guide, so please try to ask different questions than your peers!
Professor Red settled into the chair she dragged out to the booth, taking a moment to give the booth a critical look-over. To her, it was amazing that her old booth somehow managed to withstand the test of time locked away in Amityville's storage. It was still surprisingly in (more or less) one piece as well. She gave it an experimental shake, pleased to discover that it didn't fall the pieces.
With a contented sigh, the gym teacher pulled out an incomplete bat plush and continued to carefully stitch it together, passing time.

What was this? Shehk, who had been walking amongst the booths, found herself stopping as she passed a booth that didn't look as though it was something for a game. It may have been just that which made it interest her, prompting the pricolici to approach it quietly.
She looked to Red, nodding once, before she picked up one of the pamphlets to start reading through it. Boogeymen. This was a Boogeyman booth! Oooohhhh!! Her tail began to wag with much more excitement than before as she looked things over.
Then she looked to Red with (absolutely) no recognition of her. "Can I see your ID?" she asked, looking hopeful. Hey, you couldn't just talk about that without her wanting to see it. "Are Boogeymen allowed to work more than one job, or do you just stay at the school as a hobby or-" This could have gone on for a while if she didn't trail off there to wait for an actual answer.

Oh look who might just want to be a Boogeyman again without her memories, oops.

He'd been slinking about while most people were watching ceremonies looking for either something fun to do or food. So far he hadn't found either but he had found bats. Which were a guilty pleasure he couldn't pass up and if asked later he was so going to say someone else gave it to him. At least if his family was going to try to force him to try to get enrolled in the school he could find -something- about the school he liked.
Rule enforcers seemed like a plus ... enforcers with bats were better.
Slipping up to the booth he snagged one of the slips of paper and a pen before scribbling down an inquiry.

Once he'd dropped the question in the box he poked though the completed plushies before plucking up a red and black one with a slight greeting to the woman running the booth. "Afternoon." He took a moment to fluff the plushies wings and poke at all the little details.

Hethel not so much approached the booth as allowed the louder areas to gradually herd her toward it, repelled by the noise. It was like she'd finally escaped from within a flight of pestering magpies, except with a few still clinging to her- indeed, a couple humbugs had attached themselves to her back, having been drawn to the soft spectral glow of a spirit and the warmth of fur. She paid them no mind, instead seeming to deflate somewhat in a sigh of relief.
A stand full of bat plushies rose before her, manned by a ghoul in red. This figure, though iconic to the school, was suspect and unfamiliar to her. Then again, most things around here carried some form of foreboding sense. Observing the white wolf reading the pamphlets cued her to do the same. Hethel shuffled toward the desk, figuring that if she was going to spend most of the event in this blessedly quieter place, she might as well find out what it is.
Apparently, there was some kind of order-enforcement around after all. A profession of stealth, keeping watch over others. Compared to the more rambunctious things to do at a House Cup, this was undoubtedly more her style. However, could a new student even apply? Some questions were in order.

QUESTION FOR THE QUESTION BOX
1. Do Boogeymen receive any training? 2. Do Boogeymen operate alone, or as a coordinated team? 3. How does one apply to be a Boogeyman?
Her handwriting was so shaky it looked like a dismantled nest. In fact, Hethel could not recall the last time she had written. She tried the pen again a few times, a mass of feathers curled over paper, until effort and focus paid off. Finally, she gingerly slipped the now legible questions into the box, peering at Red from under her owlycowl all the while. The white wolf was asking to see her badge, and Hethel was curious as to what would happen.
When the Procolici approached, the professor looked up and gave her a nod before returning to her work. Her hands stilled. Red looked up with surprise. "It's been awhile," she greeted warmly, nodding to Shehk and completely unaware of what the ghoul had sacrificed.
Upon hearing her request, the professor nodded. "Of course, however it's been awhile since I last spoke with my superior." Red admitted, looking a little embarrassed as she placed her hand on the booth counter. She then slid something shiny towards Shehk:
"Unfortunately, said superior also happens to be working a case and isn't available to vouch for me." She sighed, leaning back in her chair. "Otherwise, a workload depends on what a boogeyman wishes to do. It isn't wise to take on more than one case until you become accustomed to working them. You'll want to dedicate your entire focus to one case to start off with, basically."
Red stretched. "As far as why I'm here..." She waved her hang vaguely. "Amnesty. Recruitment. I like to make students suffer. Extra seeds. I have unfinished business. Better pay. I'm here undercover. Take your pick, I'm sure there's plenty of more theories floating around the rumormill." She grinned widely, before nodding towards the ghoul.
"If you want to verify my ID, go ahead and place your thumb on the bat. Each badge might be a little different depending on what the local mascot is. I think I might have... Ah, yes." The teacher had reached out, frowning at a brochure. "That's an error; bats are only applicable for this area. I don't suppose you have a pen I could borrow to fix this?"

"Good day," Red returned the greeting with a nod, eying what he was doing to the plush. If he unraveled one loose thread --
Another ghoul appeared. Red nodded towards her as well, along with a quiet "Hello." Seeing her drop questions into the box also granted her a nod of approval.
There was a distinct flattening of her ears when Red said a 'while'. Another face on the list of people she didn't recognize. "....yeah....." she smiled a bit, "Seems like a lifetime.." though it had probably only been a few months.
The badge perked her right back up however, picking it up to look it over with great interest. "Well, I meant if you could work a non Boogeyman job at the same time, but I think I like your answers better." She smiled as she slid tue badge back to her.
At the request of a pen, Shehk patted herself down before offering Red her sentient snake-pen which had been trying to make a run for it. "With all these surveys I would be hard pressed to not have one....are there different symbols for other areas then?"

After eying the booth from a safe distance for a few minutes, the lanky undead finally approached, albeit a bit hesitantly. He hadn't been doing a very good job at blending into the crowd, considering the fact that he loomed over most of them by a good distance, but he'd tried nonetheless. The pamphlets were his first target, and Elium picked one up with care, silent for the moment. He wasn't the only one at the booth, and it seemed a bit rude to try talking over the questions currently ongoing. Perhaps he'd wait until there was an acceptable lull in the conversation before speaking--but for now, he could at least read the material.
After flipping through it, he turned his attention to the question box, pausing for a moment before picking up pen and paper. He soon had a few questions written out, the handwriting angular and spidery; at least it was mostly legible, anyway. That had to count for something.

QUESTION FOR THE QUESTION BOX
- What does the science part of being a Boogeyman entail? - How long does one stay in this job, usually? - How often are Boogeymen called upon to fight?
There was a small note underneath the last question. Only asking because I prefer to avoid combat. He'd rather not let anybody get the wrong idea, now.
Once he was done fluffing the bat he set it on his shoulder, balancing it carefully so it wouldn't slip off. "Very nice plushes. Good construction." He was rather going to like having the little bat to keep him company while he wandered.
"Is it fun being a boogyman?"

Surprised at being talked to, Hethel stuttered her response at Red. "H-hello. I-..." she swallowed, looking for something to clear her embarrassment, and tentatively pointed to a blank bat plushie. "May I?"
She settled at the end with the fabric markers, keeping an eye on other approaching figures. One of them even seemed like a bird. Plague doctors and their like were certainly a curiosity, and this one even tall enough to perch on for a smooth takeoff. His handwriting was enviably practiced, at least compared to her own. She looked away and back to the booth's host before she could give in to the temptation to read someone else's questions.
"Ah! I see what you mean. Yes, it's possible to work a non-Boogeyman related position while on the Boogeyman roster," Red replied to Shehk. "You're expected to give whatever case you're working your all, however the other additional jobs you are working are taken into account when a case comes up. There's no sense in assigning a heavy case if you're devoting your time and energy to other endeavors, yes?"
The professor flicked the snake-pin into submission, grabbing the pamphlets and making hasty edits to them. "Yes, each symbol is representative of the area's mascot. I've seen manticores, wyverns, levathia, cats, scorpions, spiders... Whatever happens to be in season is the mascot. It's changed every so often in order to help weed out imposters."
With the changes to the pamphlets made, the professor offered the pen back while retrieving her badge. Instead of putting it away, the professor pinned it to her cloak in full view.

As Elium wrote several questions down, Red gave him an approving nod.
Zactura
The compliment given to her made the professor brighten. "Ah, thank you. And personally? I think it is. It can be very tough and physically painful at times, but the other times... Yes, I think it is worth it." She offered a shrug, adding, "It's a bit more serious than what a Trick or Treater does and it is quite a bit more demanding, but I have no regrets."
Grymoire
As the shy ghoul pointed at a blank plushie, Red reached behind her and grabbed one, setting it down before the ghoul. "You may. Be sure to show it to me once you're done, okay?"
