Upon passing through the front gate there is a pathway wide enough for a car to drive up. Trees line either side of the driveway leading out to a forested area. The entire area has an extensive security system that includes hidden security cameras, motion sensors as well laser guns hidden in the ground and other such things. A large tiled courtyard leads to the main entrance of the Mansion.

When Ororo arrived in the courtyard, she was shocked. All of the security turrets had been destroyed easily: Some had burst into scrap, some had short-circuited, and some were just... taken apart. She braced herself, preparing for a fight, electricity forming at her hands. When she looked forward, she saw the intruder, and was once again surprised.

The figure appeared to be a young girl, though it was difficult to tell, as she was wearing a baggy hoodie, covering her hair and most of her face. What was most surprising though, was that the girl, from what was visible of her face and body language, seemed panicked, like she hadn't intended to invade a high-security institute. However, the turrets wouldn't have reacted if she weren't an unknown, potentially dangerous mutant...

"Who are you and why are you here?" Storm asked imposingly, allowing herself to darken the skies around them, wind swirling and electricity sparking in an obvious show of force. "State your name."

Oh s**t. This was not at all what she had imagined when she read, "a safe school for mutants." This was... this was some secret military base or something! She'd been attacked by turrets that had been hiding in the ground! Alarms were going off! There was a crazy woman with white hair and eyes and lightning in her hands that was demanding her name! And she'd already destroyed the turrets! That was not a good first impression... or was it?

'Okay Lorna, calm down... you're a big girl. You can handle this. It's not your fault... who are they to just shoot at people walking up their doorstep anyway?!' she told herself. Taking a deep breath, puffing up her chest, then levitating upwards to be on equal level with the crazy weather chick, Lorna Dane rose her face to meet the woman, and she looked pissed.

"I shouldn't be the one having to explain myself! What is this s**t?! You just attack innocent people coming to visit?!"

"...you hardly seem innocent." the woman replied, glancing pointedly at the annihilated turrets. She was still on her guard.

"Okay, that is so not my fault!" Lorna retorted, "You can't blame me from defending myself against lethal force!"

_______________Jean Grey______________
Jean had been eager to assist Scott, for a few reasons, but nontheless was unable to meet up with him. When she did leave the library she went to the courtyard to find her friend Ororo dealing with a rather panicked girl who seemed to have done quite a bit of damage to the turrets.

Jean walked up slowly, so as to not aid to the girl's panic. She held her hands up, showing that she meant no harm but looked at the girl with sincere concern.

She used her telepathy to reach this young girl, a method she had grown used to in order to calm situations. It's okay, I'm sorry for the initial greeting you had, Jean spoke in thoughts to the girl.

Almost immediately after she took a broader look at the damage. "What brings you to Xavier's?"

Jean did not mean to impose on Ororo's authority, that was not the case. She merely tried to assist. It was clear the girl wasn't too keen on the way Jean's friend had approached her after finding the damage.

Lorna's eyes widened as she snapped her gaze to the newcomer, a fresh wave of panic lighting her face, "Wh-what are you... were you talking in my mind?!" she brought her hands up defensively, scraps and bolts from the turrets rising up in front of her, ready to defend or to strike at a moment's notice. She listened to the woman, hearing her question now. She took another deep breath, starting to realize that, despite the freaky mind thing, this new woman didn't seem to mean as much harm as the other one, "...I... I read about this place. Read it was a school for mutants. I thought I'd just... you know, come check it out."

She remained hovering, holding her scrap metal up, glancing back and forth between the two women. Lorna couldn't seem to hold black a glare when she looked at the weather girl, but then when her gaze would go back to Jean, it would soften more into a look of tense curiosity and uncertainty.

Storm didn't seem to buy the girl's story. There were a few things suspicious to her. She voiced the first one, "This school's status as a mutant haven is not public knowledge. We are the ones who do the recruiting; it is not normal for an unknown mutant to simply walk up our doorstep. How did you find out about us?" she demanded.

Her other suspicions she voiced mentally, reaching out to Jean's telepathy, 'That is not telekinesis she is using.' she warned. Ororo had seen telekinesis, and this was not it. Telekinesis used an almost tangible energy, a force to move objects around. It did not make a sound, and oftentimes seemed to have a glow to it. No, what this girl was using... it seemed more like an attraction, pulling things to and pushing things away from her. Ororo could hear a slight sound when she used it, almost like electricity traveling through a smooth current. And all the objects the girl levitated... they were metal. This was magnetism. The same ability Magneto had. Ororo voiced as much to Jean, encouraging her after to read the girl's mind, to see if she had any ulterior motives.

((You have permission to have Jean read Lorna's mind. Pretty much what Jean would find out if she did is that Lorna found an old journal in her mother's things, and on a page she simply saw, "Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning. Safe school for mutants." and then an address. She does not know where her mother got the information, and didn't ask her because she wasn't supposed to be going through her things. All in all she's being honest though; just wanted to check out the school.))

_______________Jean Grey______________
Jean was focusing on the new mutant when she felt Ororo trying to reach her. She was giving the telepath a warning of sorts. From the knowledge Storm had thought to her, Jean now understood this mutant's ability in all of its familiarity to that of Magneto's.

She shook her head, not believing that the young girl had bad intentions. Sure, Jean was known for her compassion to everyone.... and at times it blinded her from truths, but Jean silenced her own self-doubts when she peered into the girl's mind. She had said that she read about their school, and in fact, she had. Jean confirmed the girl's statement, by the way the truth blazed in her mind. The girl had come here after reading that it was a safe school for mutants. Jean didn't want to pry more than she had, seeing that the telepathic communication freaked the girl out to begin with.

All she knew was that the girl was clueless about the turrets and thus attacked back. Jean had questions she wanted answered, like why her mother had this information... she would address such topics with Xavier himself.

Stepping between Storm and this new girl, Jean held out her hand towards the girl, offering a handshake, a gesture that Storm would be able to desipher as the girl being of no harm.

"Sorry about that," she said, nodding her head a bit, "I'm Jean. I'd be happy to show you around, that is of course, if you'd come down and drop your metal scrap..." her voice trailed off, as if suggesting that Jean was going to walk away.

((Okay, cool. I didn't want to god-mod biggrin ))

Lorna stared at Jean suspiciously, having no training or knowledge against telepathy, so not aware of what she was doing. The woman just seemed to be... focusing on something for a few seconds. Then, when she suddenly came over and offered her a hand... well, Lorna was still on her guard, but she was now more satisfied with her 'welcome' here.

Jean politely told Lorna to let go of her metal scraps. She wasn't about to do that while Weather Woman was still ready to fight. She looked at the hand offered to her, then to Storm, her expression saying she wasn't dropping her weapon until she dropped hers.

Storm caught Lorna's gaze, seeing that for this to continue peacefully, she needed to be the big girl and holster her guns first. She assessed the situation, seeing how Jean was reacting to the girl. Even though she was cautious and territorial, Ororo trusted Jean and her judgement. And she was mostly certain at this point the girl was at least not an immediate threat. She would've attacked by now if she was. So, with a p***k at her pride, Storm let the electricity fade from her hands, lowering herself back to the ground, winds and clouds dispersing as she did.

Satisfied with this, Lorna gave Jean's hand a quick, obligatory shake, before dropping the metal and lowering back to the ground herself. "...alright, you can show me around. As long as there won't be anymore 'welcomes' like that from anyone else." she glared at Storm.

((No problem. Figured it's difficult roleplaying a telepath, so I'll tell you whenever there's something from my characters it would make sense for Jean to be able to read. You don't need to have her do it if you think it's out of character though; just an option.))

Jean smiled at Storm for being able to put aside her pride, a trait she knew ran deep in her friend. After settling the new student down, a part of her wondered if Scott would be impressed with her. However, she knew better than to fiddle her mind with thoughts like that. She nodded, "Alright then, let's head on inside."

((Storm joining in this showing around the school thing? biggrin and hmm, probably should do the first floor, right? Sure thing! heart ))

((Actually I'm going to have Ororo go off to report this to Xavier. She trusts Jean to handle the situation and wants to make sure the Professor is informed. Plus then I don't have to balance two characters in one scene. XD And them going to first floor works for me.))

Ororo watched as Jean led the new girl off towards the mansion. She wondered if this was actually bring forth a new student, or just be a simple tour... or worse, if this would lead to trouble. She still wanted to know how the girl knew of their location and purpose. She would need to speak with the Professor over this; he would know what to do. "Very well then. I leave this to you, Jean." she nodded curtly before flying off ahead of the two.

((Lorna and Jean exit to First Floor, Ororo exits to Xaviers Office))

User Image Everything was so off. His day was actually going well. When Corwin left the shelter this morning, he was treated to breakfast by a random stranger. After filling his stomach, the stranger gave him two-hundred fifty dollars and a 'God Bless.' It was off because ever since Cory died, it seemed like his entire life was falling apart. How ironic. Everyone he knew, he had to leave because they couldn't cope with him being both alive and a mutant as well.

That's why Cory came in to New York. He came in search of Xavier's, the safe haven for mutants. It was only a rumor, hear-say from one of his pals at the rally where he was killed. Corwin's only hope was that it wasn't just a rumor or worse, a trap set by a mutant hate group. Cory had to take the chance. He wanted somewhere to belong. Cory paused as he reached the gates of the Xavier property. He looked into the courtyard to see that some sort of war had been waged upon the grounds.

"What the...?" Cory trailed off. He glanced around looking for some sort of voice box or camera so he could notify someone he was there. After a few seconds of quick glances, he decided to just go inside. For all he knows the defenses could be down due to the earlier battle. If not, he could take anything they threw at him. Corwin pushed the gates open and stepped through them. A deep exhale left his mouth as he crossed that threshold. He smiled as a symbol that he was challenging the universe. Corwin was letting it know that he was excited about the things to come.

((Ororo enters.))

Ororo made sure to land before she was close enough to be visible to the intruder. She did not know if he was a mutant or if he knew what their school was for, so did not want to give that away quite yet. She approached the man on foot, "Halt. You are trespassing on private property. What reason brings you here?" The woman was still intimidating, even without her glowing white eyes, winds hovering her in the air, lightning flashing around her.

She studied the boy. He looked like an ordinary young man. Besides a bit of a cocky appearance that many people his age possessed, he seemed innocent enough. At least he hadn't destroyed their defense systems, but then again, he very well may have if they had been active upon his arrival.

Corwin felt a breeze of wind blow his hair. He brushed his hair with his hand into it's original position. Once his arm was no longer blocking his sight, Cory could see an ebony woman making her way towards him. The woman had vibrant white hair that attracted his eyes to her face. Cory blinked repeatedly seeing her lips move and only hearing bits of what she said.

Corwin started approaching the woman, slowly to avoid misinterpretation of his actions. He grinned and looked at woman unwavering at her air of intimidation.
"My name is Cory, I'm looking for Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning," He paused. Cory contemplated the risk of exposing his mutant ability. The epidermal layer of Corwin's skin was engulfed by bone. He grinned before he continued speaking. "I'm a mutant...and I'm seeking sanctuary."

Ororo examined Corwin as he approached, closer inspection revealing the bone armor he possessed. Most definitely a mutant. That was even more alarming though, that two young mutants knew about their school out of nowhere.

"How did you find out about this place? Have you any connection to the girl who just arrived? Lorna?" she asked, continuing to stand tall. She did not seem at all taken by the boy's grin.

User Image Cory looked at Storm with a puzzle look. He didn't know if she would believe that he just came out here on a whim. He had no idea if what he had been told was even slightly true. Xavier's was all he had now. After he came back from the dead, no one he knew was willing to accept him being alive, let alone a mutant. Corwin looked at the woman in the eyes as he spoke.

"This is probably going to sound a little stupid, but I heard about this rumor of a group of mutants that went to a school in New York. I used deductive reasoning and a whole lot of guessing to find the location. It had to be somewhere relatively secluded and the grounds big enough to support a large amount of people. I've only been to two houses already so I'm feeling this one is going to be lucky number three."

Corwin stopped talking and took a breath. He could talk someone's head off if they let him. The way he spoke even if Storm wanted to interrupt, he wouldn't have heard over the sound of himself talking. Sometimes you'd think there's no filter between his brain and his mouth. It's like a bullet train from thought to speak. Cory blushed and let out a chuckle.

"So yeah, word of mouth. Oh and I don't know anyone named Lorna..."
