He was still slightly high off of the relative success of the last big, well, 'event' on Deus so the chance to duke it out with some of the other trainees was going to be great. He managed not to roll his eyes as he shifted his shoulders and tipped his head in greeting to his opponent. "Try not to kick my a** too hard, yea?" He grinned before digging his feet into the grass and charging. It was not going to help that the grass was slippery and he didn't have the best foot work anyway.

Grymoire YAY HELLO NICE TO MEET YOU biggrin Well, if it was any consolation, the guy he was going up against looked about as intimidating as an underfed cat. His weapon looked like something you'd use to jimmy a door, more than something you'd use to hurt someone. He was in Death, so probably jimmying a door was more up his alley. "Look who's talking," he deadpanned back. "I see they put me up against a Sun on my first round." But maybe appearances were deceptive, or possibly he got lucky. He moved like a snake, though, and that helped, the knife--a knife that was designed solely to stab--having a go at Inoke's ribs. HP: 38 Damage: 8

He grunted as the knife came in pretty good contact with his ribs, his own flail barely knocking the other man in the shoulder. "Don't let the logo fool you." He tried to grin and twist against the other. As he moved he took a swing at the other man's knees hoping to knock him off balance, maybe a bit. Probably a tiny, tiny, bit. He was totally going to blame his still healing toe for this.

Grymoire OMG. I normally... don't roll this well... lol /doesn't even know how to write him actually doing well! Taym had a strategy, and possibly it was a bad strategy, and possibly it wasn't a strategy at all but raw instinct: every time Inoke hit him, he jerked back several steps and eyed him like he had no desire to close the gap again. He looked at Inoke the way you might look at a rabid bear. "Only if you promise the same," he said, making good on it by snaking right back in and launching another solid swipe, at the gut this time. A weapon like a dirk was really only good for solid torso shots, and he was making the best of it. "Apparently we're all supposed to be psychotic in my division." HP: 35 Damage: 7

Rejam Dice usually love me XD they hate Inoke apparently though He hissed slightly as the second strike hit home too. He didn't know what the other guy was talking about. He seemed to know damn well what he was doing. The added pain meant any attempt to get another hit in fell flat as he staggered back a few steps to catch his bearings again. "I think the psychotic is working in your favor." He grinned slightly. "Sure you're not in the wrong place?" He was supposed to be a fighter and he was going to get his butt kicked by a guy with a pocket knife. Somehow that was going to be a terrible form of poetic justice. HP: 25/40 Damage: 0

Grymoire Ah, there's the Taym we all know and loveHe'd meant it as a joke, but Taym didn't look amused, mouth thinning into a hard line, brow drawing down over shadow-sunken eyes. "Just trying to get it over with," he said, with a grin that was more like a baring of teeth. Whether it was irritation or luck running out, his next swing went wide, barely clipping across Inoke's upper arm. HP: 35 Damage: 1

Rejam This is just another part of "The Initiation of Terrible a** Kickings" that Inoke is getting XD and this will probably be my last post of the evening as i must away to bed because work sucks He ducked again, side stepping to try to get out of the other man's reach. The guy did have a good arm on him and he was soooo not getting tangled up with any other Death hunters. He was going to have to ask how they managed to not be the front line fighters if they were all like this. "Quick and efficiant? That how it works with the Deaths? No acts of heroism and long hard won battles?" Yea he was so asking for it, completely. HP: 24/40 Damage: 0

Grymoire IT WORKED lol Goodnight! I'm only sporadically at p. much all hours so feel free to tag whenever biggrin Without thinking he rotated the knife in his hand so that it was blade-downward, an ice-pick grip that felt more... satisfyingly violent? Something. "Why win hard when you can just win?" he asked, struggling to keep his voice level. Perhaps taunting him--if Inoke was even trying to taunt him; Taym had an awfully short fuse--was not the best approach. The next one hurt again. "Are you a hero, then?" HP: 35 Damage: 6

SPECTATING
Tucking his coat under him, Jack settled down on the training fields to watch the spar. He didn't know either hunter personally, but that wasn't why he came: rather, he decided it was a good idea to take advantage of his free time and observe the competition. This bracket would determine who he would be facing so, logically, he wanted to see their individual fighting styles.
Frankly, if his one spar said anything about his abysmal fighting prowess, he would need all the help he could get.
Chin resting on his hands, Jack watched the pair intently. Sun and Death, Power versus Efficiency. He already knew he preferred the latter, but he was also quite aware that some of these weapons really hurt--and that willpower could tip the balance either way.

Rejam Memo to Inoke: Do not piss off Death hunters XD "Apparently not." The knife caught him on the shoulder again but that left the other man's midsection open enough for him to jam the head of his flail into his opponents gut. "Hero's always come out on top" And it very much was looking like he was so very not going to do so. Not unless he could serisouly get hsi footing under him and somehow knock the other guy off his game.

Clean again, Peyton had made her way to where she knew Taym's fight was taking place, and arrived with the match already in full swing. To her knowledge, the other only hunter the Death trainee had faced off against was her, so she wasn't honestly sure how well she was expecting her friend to do.
And maybe, just maybe, a tiny little part of her wasn't against the idea of him getting his a** kicked a tiny bit after his parting shots at the end of her own match up.
But she was there, small hands wrapped around the rope, up on tip toes as she watched Fiona make contact before the end of a flail sank into a thin stomach. She winced, then. "Come on Taym!"

Scramble-back, scramble-forward. Only this time he didn't even fully close the gap, because a yell rang out behind him and he instead made a longsuffering face at Inoke, and said, in a voice low enough that only his opponent would hear: "We appear to have a ********' audience." He was none too pleased about that development. If Inoke was looking to catch him off his guard, maybe now was the time. HP: 31 Damage: 0 :T

There was going to be no advantage taking this time. Shaking his head he ran a hand though his hair, pushing some of it out of his face, before setting his feet again. "Seems like -you- have an audience." Arland and Milo were probably too busy with their own things to bother with coming to watch him. Besides that would just mean more people to see how bad this was going for him. HP: 18/40 Damage: 0

Grymoire Doing dishes so only here sporadically but looks like I caught this one just in time! Good ol' Sun Division, with their... code of honor, and stuff. Peyton had helped her fallen opponent out of the mud. She was watching, but he didn't care. He had a pair of scythes and a reputation to live up to. Hadn't Inoke just suggested he was psychotic? Fine. The swing of his arm was as sudden as the recoil of a gun. "Don't wanna let her down," he said, a faux-apology delivered around a grin. "I do enough of that as it is." HP: 31 Damage: 3
