Antonin Valère Lapointe was born into an upper class family living in the Utopia. As a high ranking officer of the military, his father made his living within Wall Sina, thus providing a reliable and safe place to raise a family. For the most part, Tony's father's presence in the military police provided Tony with the opportunity to be mostly isolated from these others. For the majority of Tony's childhood, he only grew up around like-minded individuals. Most of Tony's peers were children of high ranking officers as well, and thus had no real grounds to judge him any differently than anyone else.

However, the ultimate result of Tony's upbringing was in his rather "spoiled" nature. Antonin reveled in his angst and moodiness, usually paying no mind to the concerns of other. Though Tony's father himself was rather laid back, he still felt that it was not right for his son to continue living in blissful ignorance of the troubles of those around him - especially considering that Tony's father did not start out as upper class, and had to earn his way there. Thus, starting at around Tony's thirteenth birthday, his father began to put pressure on him to join the military. Over the years, the pressure only increased until, come Tony's seventeenth birthday, his father gave him an ultimatum. He could either join the military, or be kicked out of the house with no skills to be able to find work or make a living. As anyone might, Tony decided to enlist.
