Hobbies: Scholar of the Apocalypse - One of Ain's primary interests is the occult, from LHPs (Left Hand Paths) to various myths surrounding the end of days. She owns various books on such topics, some quite provocative, and has a surprisingly extensive knowledge bank on cults devoted to doomsday and other dark occultisms. She indulges in this peculiar hobby by spending hours researching on the internet, or in a more preferential means, visiting the library to look up various texts and see them for herself. She also visits the occasional occult shop, if only to examine the magically-oriented merchandise therein. Ain is always happy to address the topic with someone else, though she seldom finds a reason to incorporate it into daily conversation.
If asked, she may reveal that she is a member of the Temple of Set.
Haunted House Exploration - She grew up in a terribly haunted city - London, England. Within it, a host of ancient buildings harbored ghost stories that inspired avid curiosity and healthy trepidation. Knowing this, Ain began exploring such structures at the gutsy age of 13, and found that she feels quite exhilarated when presented with such circumstances as a dark room and an overactive imagination. She thrived off the eerie settings, and was quite enthralled with learning the stories of the dead who perished at that location. Now that she's older, she actively seeks out these haunted establishments to investigate them herself, and spend the night there to see if she encounters any unusual happenings. Oh, how she
loves to drag along her best girlfriends for the fun. If anything, watching them squirm makes up for their maddening mannerisms.
Urban Painting - A glorified expression for graffiti. Angel has a talent for art, in aerosol cans and vertical surfaces. She entertains other methods of painting as well, but nothing beats urban wall art if she manages to obtain enough time to finish her work. She likes to utilize brick the most, for its strange texture and the style it lends to the finished product, but when the itch strikes... Why wait? Often times she'll ask someone to attend by watching for cops or holding her bag of spray cans while she hashes out an idea. This turns out surprisingly well for the accompanying individual - after getting all that semi-legal painting out of her system, she's apt to purchase coffee or lunch for the attending party. It's her method of winding down, of relieving stress while feeding into her fearlessness.
Kickboxing -- It initially started as just a workout routine. Great for cardio, Ain practiced it on a regular basis... Until one of her friends wanted to have a little tussle. Ever since, she became addicted to the contact sport aspects of kickboxing, and indulges through local venues. If there's a local gym that supports such activities, excellent - they have her membership for life, and anyone she seeks out that might have a chance at her in the ring. She typically won't go out and challenge anyone, but she will introduce any loose friends to kickboxing as an exercise routine before she asks them to step up her game. On the rare occasion that she does challenge someone, she prefers to invite men to try their hand at beating her.
Virtues:Fearless -- Ain learned from a young age that there's a cut-off point for fear. Her father was kind enough to point it out in his typically strange fashion - she used to be terribly afraid of heights, until the day he took her to Seattle and introduced her to the Space Needle. After lying atop the slanted glass and panicking for a solid ten minutes, she slowly overcame her crippling fear of heights. Needless to say, her dad got punched for that one, but it developed into an excellent sense that she doesn't
have to be afraid. Now she can camp out all the haunted scenes she pleases and she won't jump or cower at any strange noises, because they just don't phase her. Because of this, she became an excellent go-to person for squishing spiders, replacing a lightbulb on a ladder, and other mundane tasks that people may avoid due to fear, and she is happy to partake.
Easily Amused -- It's easy to coax a chuckle out of the Londoner. Ain will laugh at most jokes, ranging from the knock-knock variant to more legitimate stand-up routines. Though she's a little muted in her giggles, the mirth is fairly evident in her eyes. Anyone with even a gimped sense of humor would be able to extract a chuckle or two, and Ain is fine with this - the more witty remarks, the better. However, situational humor definitely applies as well - if someone ends up in an adverse situation that yields any kind of irony, Ain is laughing right along with them (or maybe not
with them). It also extends to herself, should she end up in a situation that produces a similar kind of irony.
Objective -- Though she may laugh, Ain does not lose herself to a situation emotionally. She still retains a remarkably level head in any circumstance requiring action from her. It allows her to think her way through adverse events, like being stalked down an alley, without succumbing to the emotions it might elicit and ending up with a bludgeoned civilian on her hands who only intended to return the wallet she dropped. This extends to mediation purposes, if one of her friends asks her opinion of a boyfriend cheating. She's not one to sugar-coat or coddle said friend; rather, she will offer a variety of what she considers valid explanations that may shed some light on the man's actions. More often than not, she ends up thanked for some insight they missed due to heavy emotional investment.
Witty -- Ain has more than a few comebacks up her sleeve. Maybe it's from all the jokes and quips she's been privy to, but the girl has quite the quick wit in social situations. Sometimes she can make some incredibly clever jokes to her friends, in hopes of making them laugh. Other times she uses that very wit to defend them in verbal battles, when trying times call for it. Even still, that cleverness presents a boon to her friends as she uses it to help correct logic in constructive conversation. In turn, it highlights her as an excellent friend to go to when someone needs her help to defend themselves.
Flaws: Cold -- Angel's not the type of girl to express any sort of warmth or physical connection toward other people. She won't hug someone, she won't express that she likes someone unless pressed for an answer, and she certainly won't give someone copious amounts of encouragement. Her kindness only extends to pet names conducive to her English upbringing, and maybe a "good job" here or there for excellent performance, and even those seem like they're more habit than actually meant. She will also refuse to acknowledge someone's feelings in anything other than an objective way, such as telling someone it's a terrible idea to crush on a man who's taken, and refuse to relate to the person talking about it. To put it simply - Angel is an ice queen, be careful about frostbite.
Flippant -- Due to her interest in all things humor and wit, it will appear as though Angel has no respect for authority. She will talk back to her teachers if it suits her, as well as any classmates that try to butt into the conversation. She'll also make not so serious remarks during some of the more boringly serious events in life, like someone getting married, or even a recital of Hamlet in the middle of drama class. Ain doesn't know when to quit, either - even if she's reprimanded for such poor behavior, she keeps at it with even more vigor than before. And to top it off, she doesn't see anything wrong with what she's doing, and won't apologize if she hurts anyone's feelings in behaving in such a manner.
Judgmental -- If someone dresses in provocative clothing, they're a slut. If someone stumbles over words while reading out of a book, they're stupid. If someone trips over their own shoelaces even once, they're clumsy. Angel is quick to judge, and even quicker to voice a quip over anything that leads to said judgments. She will judge her own friends, too - if one of her best girlfriends starts cheating on an exam, it won't matter what her reasoning amounts to; Angel will consider her far too gloriously stupid for the class. No one is safe from such damning character judgments on her part - even her own parents are prone to that vicious criticism, for some of the most arbitrary things. Mom dropped the blender again? Butterfingers. She shouldn't be allowed to handle any appliances anymore.
Brutal -- The frostbite to her ice queen. Sometimes she takes her own wittiness too far - she's not above making someone cry due to her words alone. In the kickboxing ring, she may exceed the amount of force necessary to subdue her opponent, and end up breaking a nose or worse injuries. It's not that she doesn't know her own strength, but that she gets swept up in those notions and terrible tragedies result. If she elicits an adverse reaction from someone due to that brutality, she will simply pass it off as the person being far too sensitive about such subjects. Either that, or they should've blocked better. Ain's brutality knows no bounds, and she's not ashamed of it either.
