I'm excited about it too! (Though to be fair I hadn't heard about it until I saw your post.) ninja
I found a tiny news blurb HERE. I'll post it in case people want to know what it's about. mrgreen

I truly hope this a "springboard" for more movies in the Potterverse. I DESPERATELY want
a movie about the Marauders (Remus Lupin is one of my favorite characters). heart I'd also go
crazy with joy if they made the Dumbledore/Grindlewald story into a film as well. My feels!

How about you; what kind of movies would you like to see her explore doing after this? emotion_kirakira

For me personally, I would LOVE a movie about the Founders of Hogwarts.

Anything in the Potterverse appeals to me. I think that a Marauders or Grindlewald movie(s) would be too close to the original series? I would still support it unconditionally if Jo was behind it though. Also, sort of hypocritical of what I just said, but I think it would be cool to have a next generation tv series, following the daily lives of a Hogwarts student, it doesn't necessarily have to have a dark wizard involved.

Another thing, short films on Beedle and the Bard.

With this new film series, it makes me more hopeful for the chances of more Harry Potter in film and possibly TV, these things would obviously be farther down the line, but if Jo is willing to come back to one project, who's to say she won't come back for more?

Wait wasnt 70 years before harry durring the prime of the dark lords reign cause in the books dumbledore is young when he finds the dark lord and he is much older in the years harry is at school

I kind of want a tv series that starts with pre hogwarts(before the founders) then slowly goes back to after harry over a 10 year series or more maybe something similar to how smallvile was done but with harry potter

Oooh a movie about the founders would be amazing! I'd love to learn more about them
(or even the 4 house ghosts). I'd like to get into the heads of the people who originally
formed Hogwarts. That would be a pretty different era from anything the books offered.

I do agree that the Marauders story wouldn't be the most unique thing. I'd just love to
have an in depth look at some of the motivations behind key adult characters earlier in
their lives. It'd even be nice to learn about Neville's parents (so many untapped stories).

The Dumbledore story appeals to me the most. I hate how little we get to see about
his past or family. This man is hugely responsible for guiding the events of the Harry
Potter books. Learning about the inner workings and trials of Albus would be thrilling.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard would be enjoyable. Of course I'd like to learn about the
Deathly Hallows in the tale of The Three Brothers. But anything from TToBtB would rock!
There are an absolute ton of possibilities Jo could do work with if this movie takes off...

Dumbledore's first encounter with a "would be" Dark Lord was Gellert Grindelwald. He met
Albus in the summer of 1899 when Grindlewald's great aunt Bathilda Bagshot introduced the
boys to each other. Dumbledore was just turning 18 years old during that time and Gellert
was only 17. A 3-way duel between Albus, Gellert and Aberforth in late summer ended the
life of Albus' little sister Ariana (she was 14). Gellert ran off so he wouldn't get arrested.

Tom aka Voldemort went to Hogwarts in 1938-1945. Afterwards we have the battle
that may have been the "real" reason WWII ended in 1945; the duel between Albus
and Gellert. Dumbledore wins and Gellert winds up in his own prison for the next 53
years. He dies at the hand of Voldemort after he REFUSES to give information about
the Elder Wand's location (unlike the movie where he turns Al in). It's his redemption.

It would be BRILLIANT if they did a huge TV series covering the entirety of the Harry
Potter story. Gah... I honestly think I might die of excessive happiness or something.

Okay so it's set during the 1920's, which means flapper girls, gangsters, prohibition, and wizards.

Also the Great Gatsby saw a green light across the bay. Avada Kedavra old sport.

Why wouldn't you be excited? neutral Sure a book on one of the textbook authors isn't as
amazing as a book on one of the major characters. But I do think that it's a good way
for them to test the waters and see if there's potential for more Harry Potter universe
movies and/or making a TV series or two. Wouldn't you like to see more HP stuff? heart

Maybe it's partly because I'm not a very hardcore fan, but it just doesn't sound interesting, at all. Everyone I know is over the moon about it and I'm just...meh. I would like to see more stuff, but I'm not looking forward to this at all.

Edit: and maybe it is character related. Even though I don't feel particularly attached to any of the characters, JK has a real gift for character development. I don't think it's the urban fantastical universe that made the series become so popular and do so well for so long, I think it was her writing style and the depth of most of characters that did that. I wouldn't expect a film that doesn't include continuity with these characters to be big outside the lingering potter fan circles.

I suppose the Newt Scamander's only merits in HP are his writing of a future textbook
and his grandson marrying Luna Lovegood. It's not a whole lot to go off of to me... sweatdrop

Still, there may be interesting links to the main story and this one. 70 years prior to
the original story is around the time Tom Riddle (Voldemort) was born (meaning we
might catch glimpses of his family during the movie). whee It's also right in the midst of
Dumbledore's "dealing with Grindlewald" crisis. (I am so curious about that story.)

We do know for a fact that JK loves Newt's character quite a bit. She said so in her
interview on the movie. I imagine she has a whole world of fun ideas linked to him
even though it's hard to imagine how. I can't help but be at least a tad optimistic...

I have to say I'm extremely pumped. Since there isn't all that much backstory it lets them create it from scratch. (which could be disastrous, but I'm optimistic)
I loved seeing how they did the magical creatures in the HP series, from the pixies to the dragons they were all done amazingly! Hopefully the story will be as great as the effects are.
Does anyone know if they are going to be releasing any cast names/when?

ok that clears things up im worried that they will ruin theseries with this new movie i might watch the movie but only if they have something good this could be great or this could be the worst movie ever made right now its a 50/50 chance for a good movie or a terrible movie
