I know this feel. I'm trying to write a story myself, but something always comes up.

Try this:
Write down anything that comes to mind on microsoft word or something like that. or just a notebook. ******** it, just write those ideas down. It has to be more than 3.

Then go down the list, giving each idea +1 attribute. Whether it be a character, a name, an emotion, a building, a setting, etc etc.

Then write 1 sentence about that +1 attribute.

Give each sentence an unexpected spin going in the complete opposite direction.



Look back at all your ideas. Choose the one that you seem to gravitate towards. Play a one word story with yourself where you want to genuinely investigate what the characters are about to do.
