He'd let himself into Po's apartment because his own was out of food again and he was too lazy to cash his paycheck. It wasn't that he had no money--he had it, especially now that rent was managed--but instead that he was filling up his evenings with attempts to be useful to the Negaverse and earn a pat on the head from Ever instead of errands. So bank runs and groceries had fallen by the wayside, not that he needed an excuse to raid someone else's refrigerator.
When the door opened he didn't even look up. He was standing tip-toed in front of the open cupboards with a slice of cold leftover pizza clenched in his teeth like a dog would hold a bone, pursuing the selection absently. It was his day off, but that hadn't stopped him from getting dressed. Possibly nothing short of a nuclear war could stop Sawyer getting dressed, and possibly he'd only see that as a good excuse to don something really fashionable, like a gas mask.
"Rtrnn," he said around the pizza, apparently "afternoon." He removed it to add: "Is that Po or Dustin?"

There was a fashionably clad a** sticking out of her fridge when she walked in the door, and Po took the rare opportunity to admire it before the young man issued what she was sure was greeting. A brow twitched upward at the question, and she had to chuckle before slipping away from the door frame she'd been leaning so she could give Sawyer an affectionate pat on the back before hoisting herself up to sit on the counter beside the open fridge door, a small cardboard box resting on her lap. "It's me,' she clarified, as if the gentle pat, instead of a swat on the a**, hadn't already given her away. "I was going to come get you, but this saves me some trouble." She was talking to the brushed metallic face of the fridge. "Grab me out a can of soda while you're in there, yeah?" She had been a little late getting home after work, having made a short pit stop on the way.

"You should consider," he told her, "ordering more food next time you order food, so you'll have more leftovers. It's like incredibly slim pickings in here. I wanna feel like Templeton in Charlotte's Web. You remember that movie? A faaaaair is a veritable smorgasbord-orgasbord-orgasbord--" he serenaded, at least partially tunefully, interrupting himself to shove the pizza back in his mouth and offer her a can. "How're you?" he asked around a mouthful.

"After the crowds have ceased~" she answered back, voice sing song and light with amusement. "Sorry, I'll be sure to keep that in mind for next time." Taking the can, she set it beside her on the counter and popped the tab one handed before bringing it up for a long drink. She watched him over the rim of her can as he helped himself to her left over pizza, and offered a fond smile at his question. "I'm good. How about you?" The painted tips of her nails tapped softly against the side of the box. It was white, and there were little holes punched along the top of it.

"Starving. Positively wasting away. I was thinking of trying Dustin's next. Or Ever's, but he only has s**t you have to cook," he said, sounding vaguely horrified. He put the pizza down directly on the counter--hopefully Po kept things clean--and when he turned to face her his lip was scab-split and he was sporting the remnants of what almost qualified as a black eye but didn't quite, and his chin the greenish remains of a bruise. He grinned, apparently either oblivious to the box or unconcerned with it. "And I'm always a little afraid of going into Dustin's place without warning. I've seen things that cannot be unseen."

When he turned her eyes snapped down to his lips and the healing split that didn't quite ruin them. It stole a little of the warmth from her eyes, made her smile just a little artificial as she forced herself to look away from the bruises he was still sporting. She had of coursed asked, but multiple assurances that it wasn't a big deal had, if not placated her, had at least kept her from going on a man hunt. She dropped her attention down the box, a little annoyed he hadn't asked about it yet, but no matter. "Oh yeah, Dustin's place is not for the faint of heart." A chuckle followed, but she was taking the lid off the box, slowly. I got you something today." Two small mice spilled from the box into her upturned palm . One was completely white with pink eyes, the other had a splotch of grey on her back and beady black eyes.

It was a good thing he'd already put the pizza down, because it was obvious that if he hadn't he'd have dropped it in sheer astonishment. He stared at her hands uncomprehendingly, and then at her. Sawyer was really good at getting gifts. Someone like Sawyer had endless reserves of sincere and enthusiastic gratitude for kindness. He threw his arms around her as well as he could considering she was holding live and very athletic animals, planting an enormous kiss on her cheek. "You remembered!" He pulled back to reach out for them, letting them clamber into his hands, and he handled them with old habit, immediately plunking the white one into the pocket of his coat, where it had a go at scaling his shoulder. "Oh god. Look at how ******** cute. I am going to buy them the most obscenely expensive cage. With tubes everywhere." He wasn't quite teary with appreciation, but he was gratifyingly close. "You are the ******** best. Are we allowed to have mice? Let's just not tell Zac. You have to help me name them."

Po had been expecting gratitude, Sawyer was nice, and he appreciated things that were done for him, but she had not been expecting him to throw his arms around her, and she closed her hands around the mice, caging them in her palms gently as she was afforded a giant kiss on the cheek and a the rush of astounded and enthusiastic exclamation on that fact that she'd remembered something that, at the time, had probably seemed so trivial. But the punk of a young woman was a lot more thoughtful then she pretended to be, and she paid careful attention to the people that mattered to her. Sawyer was one of those people, and to see him so incredibly happy over something so small warmed her down to her toes. She spilled the pair of mice into his hands when he held them out, chuckling at him. God, he was so happy. "Of course I remembered." Just like she remembered what he liked on his pizza-- Which, if he'd cared to notice, was always available for scavenging in her fridge. --Or that his favorite ice cream was anything loaded down with chocolate and caramel and cookies. Extending one long leg she caught his hip with her foot and pulled at him until he was standing between his knees with his back to her chest so she could drape her arms around his shoulders and press her cheek to the side of his head, watching the mice as they crawled over him. "I doubt Zac will care about a pair mice, but if you don't wanna bring it up then we won't, and of course I'll help you name them."

He absently caught the attempted escapee and flipped it over, apparently deciding what sex they were, but this clearly had no bearing on his choice of names. "I'm naming this one Templeton even though it's a girl," he informed her. "Naturally. I mean since he just came up in the conversation and all, it's fate. Good strong name, she'll deal." He held up the other, twisting back and trying to guide it into her hands. "So you get the honor of naming this one." He juggled until he managed to tear a piece of pizza crust off and offer it to Templeton, who ate it in a way that was remarkably reminiscent of the way Sawyer did: in neat, tiny bites. Kindred spirits.

She held him against her in a loose hug, watching him handle the mice with ease as they clambered all over him. It made her smile, and she turned her head to lay a kiss on his cheek as he declared a name for the first of them. "It's a fine name, I like it." Humming, she paused to consider a good name for the second mouse, and she held up a hand as he offered the small creature to her. "What about Charlotte?" She hadn't been a mouse in the movie, but did that really matter? "We can call her Lotte." Beady eyes turned up to look at her as she held it up closer to her face, and she grinned as the mouse leaned in for a sniff before settling back on it's haunches to clean it's whiskers. "They are cute little things."

"Templeton and Lotte it is," he said, with an official air. "They are ******** adorable. I am pretty sure the only thing on earth cuter than I am is a mouse. Two mice are cuter than that even. Maybe," he added with sudden perky optimism at the cheery thought, "Dustin is one of those people who's scared of them and I can use them as guard dogs. I'll just put the cage right in front of the door." Apparently just locking his door wasn't an option, but then again, what point was there in locks, with the Negaverse? He'd learned that lesson early.

"Nah," she teased, hugging him all the tighter from behind as she pressed her cheek into the side of his head. "You're still cuter, but they are adorable." Porsha wasn't really much of a pet person. She liked animals alright, but had never had much of a desire to own one. Still, she appreciated Sawyer's enthusiasm for them. She laughed at the notion of Lotte and Templeton being deployed as "guard mice". "Maybe, one way to find out, really. You'll have to bring your new friends with you next time I have you both over for dinner, right?"

"Naturally," he said. "They're gonna sit on my shoulders like a little angel and a little devil and eat all my food. They're gonna get fat as butter." He sounded inordinately thrilled by the prospect of having tiny things to spoil. The same instincts that made him want to open his house up to strangers, that made him a sucker for anyone needing to "borrow" five bucks, were in heavy play right now. It was probably fortunate that Sawyer didn't like cats and dogs. He'd never be able to turn down a stray. "And they're gonna terrify Dustin like he's an elephant. Might wanna wrap up your valuables."

Grey eyes narrowed slightly, and she tightened her hold on him. "Why am I wrapping up my valuables?" She had been following his excited ramblings up to that point, but he'd lost her now. With a hum she lay a kiss on the side of his head. "Speaking of dinner, when do you think we should all get together again? Maybe this weekend?" Porsha seldom ate alone these days, but she didn't usually share meal times with both of them. "And what should we eat?" Take out had been the norm. "I can cook."

"You should cook," he said immediately, tucking Lotte back into his breast pocket and releasing Templeton into his collar so he could take Po's hands with easy affection. "I bet you're a great cook. Really great. And you should wrap up your valuables because elephants," he added apologetically, aware of the conversational whiplash he tended to induce in people. "What would you cook? What do you like to cook? I can't cook for s**t. I get distracted and then the next thing you know you've got a rock instead of rice for dinner."
