There was not a surface in Amityville that didn't seem to be plastered with the signs, and as though that wasn't enough, there were many other places as well that the Student Councils PR thought might be fit to communicate with his fellow students the importance of an upcoming meeting. He had set gnomes to the task of spreading the word (though lets face it, a mass text likely would have sufficed), had printed posters that were placed above bathroom stalls as well as on the inside of the doors, and had even left notes in the cafeteria food. That had, admittedly, been a bad idea. Nurse Cricket might have had a small influx of students brought to her that were either choking, or complaining about paper that was lodged in their throats if they were the non-breathing sort. He'd had to put an end to that plan quite quickly lest the extracted evidence lead to a certain zomboil who really didn't want to get on his boilfriends mothers bad side. His crowning idea, however, had been to stick glowing arrows outside of every occupied dorm room along the floor, ones that lead their followers down the maze of corridors and stairs, and to the monster common room itself. There was no excuse for not knowing about the meeting. None. The message was quite clear: Quote: Mandatory Monster Dorm meeting in the Common Room on Curseday at 7pm! Be there. Bring food. Candied brains is best At exactly 7:13pm Curseday evening, Alexander came stumbling into the monster common room, arms clutching a box that was held to his chest, looking quite disheveled. No, no he had not actually some how forgotten about the meeting that he had spent so much time advertising. No, there was no way that could be the case at all. He was just...running a little bit behind today, that was all. Hurriedly, he shuffled to the very center of the room, and noted with relief that at least somebody had cleared the area and set up a table for him, and he shot the occupants of the room at large an apologetic look before clearing his chest with a loud " AHEM!" "Right so, I am sorry I'm late everyone, this will just take a few moments to get set up..." He set the box down, and began arranging things appropriately on the table, flicking mismatched eyes around until he spotted the two newly appointed monster RA's and waved them over as well, hissing to them both in a whispered tone. "Okay just as we discussed before...." He went on for a little bit, explaining to them what needed to happen while he set out a stack of small papers on the table as well as a handful of haunted pens, before putting the lid, which had a slot cut out of the top, back on the box. It was 7:24 and Alex finally addressed the room. "Hello, greetings, and hey how's it going. I'm Alexander, and for those of you who don't already know me, I am the Student Councils PR. Standing here with me are Muka." He gestured towards the Strix that stood nearby. "And Demi." He gestured towards the other boil. "These two are your Dorm R.A.'s, or you know, Resident Assistants." Was that a good enough introduction? Should he elaborate? Ya, maybe he should elaborate.... "They are volunteers that are here to help you adjust to dorm life in whatever way they possibly can. Moderators, if you will. If you have complaints, issues, say your neighbor is being too loud or somebody left a slime trail in the hallway, these are the creeple you want to be talking to." Ya, that about covered it, right? Moving on. "Okay so I'm guessing you'd all like to know why you were all gathered here tonight." He flashed the crowd a large grin. "We, the Student Council, were asked by one of our professors to get each dorm together as a group to decide on three things. One: Your dorm colors. Two: A mascot for your dorm, and finally. Three: A dorm motto." His smile was growing ever wider as his excitement began to show through. He gave this idea a moment to settle, and waited for any curious murmuring to die down before continuing. "So, what will you need to do right now? Well, up here I have some pieces of paper and a ballot box. You will be able to choose two colors on a form and drop it inside the box. For the mascot and motto though, well, that is where the teamwork begins." He wiggled his eyebrows a little at that, his words hinting at the fact that more teamwork would likely be needed in times to come as well. "You will need to discuss it with your fellow monsters. Brainstorm. Toss around a few ideas and come up with the mascot and motto that you all think best represents your dorm! If you have any questions, I will be residing here throughout, as well as our two lovely R.A's." He gestured to each of the boils standing near him again. "You may begin now. Oh ya, and we won't be leaving this room until something is decided upon. Have fun!" Alex then grabbed for a paper bag nearby (where had that come from?) and went to lounge on an empty space of a nearby couch, happily munching the candied brains contents of said bag, while the brainstorming got underway. OOC PRE-TRIAL: TEAM BONDING EXERCISEThe common room of your dorm has been rearranged. Any furniture has been pushed back against the walls and more had been added to line the room perfectly. In the middle of the now open space rests a table with a sheets of paper and some pens. Nearby rests your Student Council representative and two or three probably familiar students, each wearing an intricate little badge. It looks like something's brewing...and the Student Council wants to make sure you're properly represented! At the end of this ORP, the dorm will have Two House Colours, a Mascot, and a Motto to represent them in... something. gaia_crown [ STEP 1: VOTE FOR HOUSE COLOURS ] : This is the first - and easiest - thing to do. Have your student approach the ballot box and submit their votes for their Dorm's House Colours. Please copy and paste the form below into your post; these will be tallied at the end! You may do this once per character, so long as they are enrolled into this dorm. Be sure to remember that this is based in Halloween and suggest colours accordingly. Dorm RAs are not allowed to cast a vote at this time. CLOSED gaia_crown [ STEP 2: GIVE SOME INPUT ] : Once you have voted for your colours, there are still two things left, and these will be decided as a group! Brainstorm some ideas for a Mascot and Motto to represent your dorm. It's okay if you can't think of an idea, you're welcome to back someone else's. This is for you and your Dorm mates to decide and hash out together as a team. After all, whatever decision the group agrees on will represent your species as a whole in the future! Try to keep them as relevant as possible to your particular dorm and the general setting of Halloween; so while pink and purple with sparkle princesses would be hilarious for Demons, it's not an entirely plausible suggestion. Dorm RAs are not allowed to suggest a Mascot or a Motto at this time. gaia_crown [ STEP 3: DECIDE AS A GROUP ] : Alexander and Muka and Demi are only here to moderate and to keep the conversation flowing. They are not here to decide for you. This is for you and your dorm mates to decide and agree upon. If in the end it boils down to a tie, the Dorm RA's will be the tiebreaker. If a decision still hasn't been reached, then the presiding SC rep will choose. gaia_crown [ THIS THREAD ENDS ] : On Friday September 20th at 11:59pm PST, OR if the SC rep, Alexander (Seussi), has been quoted with an agreement! We will be checking to make sure that a decision has been made, so don't you go making an executive decision! May the odds be ever in your favour wait wrong fandom...

Ala peered up at the boil speaking with narrowed eyes, tail lashing behind her. He was interrupting her snack. For a brief period of time, he set out a bunch of useless instruments, and so she ignored him, cheerfully munching on someone else's food that she had stolen out of their room.
It had been addressed to someone and everything; which meant, very clearly, that it belonged to her. That was how the world worked, after all.
The boil blathered on about volunteers and adjustment and the end result was a pair of strangers standing next to another stranger and being absolutely the last thing the draconic girl cared even a little about.
He said the word 'teamwork' and Ala let out a loud, audible hiss.
"I do not wissssh. to," she said, petulant. "Sssso I won't."

Muka had eaten at least three of the notices in his cafeteria food before a nice ghost ghoul (who'd apparently been assigned by Cricket to police the meals for a few periods) had clued him into it. He'd gotten a personal note, of course, about being accepted as RA but the idea of the meeting had totally slipped his mind. The rotund strix stood at the front with his familiar wide eyes and huge grin, staring at the monster dorm residents like a very friendly predator. He was dressed to the nines in a tailored pinstripe suit with tails and a very elaborately embroidered waistcoat with pumpkins in shining thread. His badge stood out boldly on the dark suits lapel and every once in a while his large wings rustled and he seemed to puff his chest out proudly. This was his first job of responsibility! When new monsters entered he would giggle and waggle his taloned fingers in greeting, motioning to the papers they were all to take. He also was desperately fighting not to go nibble on the tiny table of donated food, though there wasn't much. "Remember that if you.. hee.. would not like to vote, that the other dorm residents will then decide.. hrrm.. without your input!" His head bobbled in an enthusiastic affirmation. "And we'd like you all to have.. ahh.. a say!" OOC Please quote me if you'd like to speak with Muka! Don't be shy!

Walking into the monster dorms, Sulmanon did not know quite what to expect. She had only been here a few days and, already, some sort of voting was going on. She guessed that it was probably okay for her to vote on dorm colors, but had no clue as to what would be appropriate for a mascot or a motto. Grabbing one of the color ballots, she fished out a pen and jotted down two of her favorite colors. Quote: HOUSE COLOUR VOTEStudent Name: Sulmanon Goughdraig House Colour Vote: Crimson and Black Having finished the first ballot, she slipped it into the box, surprised at how empty it seemed. Had she gotten there early? No, the signs had said Curseday at 7pm and she had gotten there at 7:40, so she definitely wasn't early. Maybe she was just early compared to most of the other students. Still, she did not know what would be an acceptable motto or mascot, so she looked around for someone to ask. Spotting the sharply dressed strix, she walked up to him, barely remembering her manners before her curiosity took over. "Hello, my name's Sulmanon. I'm really new here, so I really don't know what would be acceptable in terms of a school mascot or a motto. I mean, if one species was chosen as a mascot, would the others be offended? Or are we supposed to make up something that does not exist for the mascot? Also, can the motto be in any language?" Then, after thinking for a moment and realizing she had never met a strix before, she asked, "Also, what species are you?"iloveyouDIE Sulmanon is too curious to ever really be shy. XD

Muka didn't recognize the ghoul but grinned all the same. "I'm Ulmuka.. you can call me.." he giggled, "Muka. I'm a strix! Ah hrmm.. sort of a shape-shifting owl monster?" He stroked his puffy beard with a tattooed hand for just a moment while finding the best way to describe himself. He certainly looked the part with his round belly, large wings, and tufted hair. "A pleasure to meet you!" He took the ghoul's hand like a gentlemonster and bowed to it. "Well I suppose all that is hrrm.. up to all the other monsters! Who is to say what will offend someone?" Muka shrugged. "I supposed the hrmm motto could be in any language but you'd want others to understand it, yes?" Muka patted Sulamanon's hand breifly since he hadn't released it yet and finally did so. "I don't think it matters if it's made up.." he giggled. "But once again, everyone needs to agree! So perhaps ask the others what they think!" Though there wasn't quite a huge crowd yet.

"HELLO HELLOOOOO!"
A certain noisy gryphon had arrived, Ren soaring into the room with his wings outstretched and promptly causing a lot of things to be knocked over in the process. He hastily picked them back up, furled his wings against his back, and trotted over to Demi, wringing an arm around his neck.
"Congrats, RA," he said cheerfully, ruffling the boil's hair affectionately, and then stuck his hand out for Muka to shake before he turned back to the others and clapping his hands together in determination.
"Yes, colors, yes, good, we like colors."
He scribbled something down and stood back up, beaming.Quote: HOUSE COLOUR VOTE Student Name: Ren House Colour Vote: GRYFFINDOR Red and Gold

It wouldn't have been kosher for the monster to avoid such gallant efforts made by their student council. The ranks had changed faces, both familiar to the ghoul and not, yet their creativity never seemed to bore. Natalia had returned to Amityville shortly before the announcement was made that Cricket's office would tend to any and all choking victims-- And had stumbled upon the lit arrow walkway right to the dorm common room moments before the zomboil made his entrance.
Seated with her legs crossed, tail draped about the bottom of her chair, and hands steepled, the ghoul listened to Alexander. Her eyes followed his introductions, meeting with the face of her favorite Strix, stunned momentarily to see that the once lanky Owl boil had since put on a healthy amount of weight, and then to that of a boil she remembered; whether they met before or not, it didn't really matter. As soon as Alex finished, she would be up on her feet and sauntering their way.
Plus, faces new or old, it felt good to be amongst students again. While the mountains she came from were her first home, the ghoul couldn't deny that Amityville had certainly taken the place of second in her book.
And just as she had silently promised to do, as soon as Alexander threw himself down Natalia rose from her place and made her way over. A devious grin was the first to welcome them, but it soon widened as a fourth and very familiar face made his way into the room. Her pace quickened, and while her heart also began to race within her chest -- The cool and collected look that Natalia always wore did not reveal a thing. "Alex, Muki, Demi...Ren. Hello again." She exchanged quick looks to each boil, addressing them personally, and somewhat predatorily, before resting a hand on her hip and continuing. "And hello to you too, lovely stranger." This was directed toward Sulmanon, the sweetest looking thing in the room at point. Her smile widened, welcomed the ghoul, but her attention returned to the boils once again. "I am sorry to interrupt, but my, my, you four have grown. Muki, look at you-- I love it! You are more handsome than ever." Reaching out briefly, the ghoul attempted to place both hands upon his stomach in a gesture similar to someone checking for a baby. "And your outfit is superb, as always." She straightened, and flicked her citrus gaze to Ren fleetingly.
"Been a while, darling." She would have mauled him, kissed him, hugged him... but for now, she tried to keep her composure. The last they had met, things were certainly more awkward than she would have liked... so it was probably for the best. For now. The ghoul looked over a shoulder briefly, then, watching as Ren fluttered toward the box and scribbled something down, before waving a finger on her free hand toward it.
"It should be orange." She'd be sure to write that down, but just so they all knew... "And our motto should be 'Dangerous, Fierce, and Sexy. Charge on!"

Sulmanon was actually used to gentlemonsters, thanks to her parents, but not expecting that treatment here, she still blushed a little at the greeting. "It's nice to meet you Muka." she responded with a small curtsy, made a little comical by the fact that she was wearing shorts. Still, she could show she had manners too. She was about to start interrogating him about strixes, when a boisterous griffin flew in. Excusing herself so that she could use Muka's advice, she walked over to try to discuss the motto and mascot with the griffin. "Um, hello. I'm Sulmanon. They said that we needed to discuss mascot and motto, but I still really don't know what I can suggest without insulting anyone..."...and then another ghoul appeared and seemed to take control of the entire room. iloveyouDIE Muka managed to dodge being questioned by a curious dragon. XD kurotomato ...but Ren didn't... or maybe he did... IDK Shiabean Right now, Sulmanon, is politely waiting her turn to talk. XD

"Ah Mr. Ren.." Muka shook his hand, giggling at the gryphon's animated entrance. He wasn't one to clean anything up so he didn't move a talon when the papers were blown around a bit. Thankfully the other boil had straightened what he'd mussed. "Natalia!" Muka giggled as she patted his belly and commented on his weight. He gave her no choice when he squished her against him in a warm and fluffy owl hug. "It is good to see you!" As she moved along, he shuffled restlessly. Oh how he wanted to give his own suggestions but... he wasn't allowed!! He was glad to see Sulmanon reaching out to the other students though!

Ren, a few feathers fluttering down from his wings, had not noticed the ghoul sitting on the far side of the room, at least not at first. So preoccupied with milling about with the others, it wasn't until after he heard her speak for the first time that he realized just who it was behind him.
Ren turned so quickly he cricked his neck in the process, but it had been nearly two years since he'd last seen year - at the very least, a year, perhaps somewhat more than that. And at first he wasn't sure whether or not he had just been hearing things, whether it had just been his imagination.
But it hadn't been - she was definitely there, and she was definitely standing in front of him as though nothing was wrong, as though she hadn't a care in the world, a predatorial smirk on her lips.
There was a short pause before he even answered her.
"...Natalia," said Ren, and one of his ears swiveled, flattening down against his head of curly golden hair. He wanted to say something else, but this was a public gathering, and not the place for any sort of dirty laundry to be aired.
"It's, ah..." he struggled for words. "Been a long time, yes," he finished lightly, painting on a casual, careless smile onto his face. "You look well enough."
There was a voice somewhere near his left side, and Ren, grateful for the distraction, turned away from Natalia to greet the new ghoul, someone with red hair and dragon-ish features. She was unfamiliar, which made Ren believe that she was somewhat new.
"Sulmanon!" he said brightly, and reached out, grasping her hand. "What a pleasure to meet you, I'm Ren!"
Turning back to the group, hands on his hips, Ren said determinedly, "Our motto should be Eat, Drink, and Be Scary!"
There was really no explanation as to where he had come up with this whatsoever, and Ren put a hand up to his chin, stroking his fingers along his jawline thoughtfully.
"As for a mascot, well..."

Deszeld was not entirely interested in the happenings and whatnots. When the pale-haired wyrm-dragon-creature spoke and said that she did not want to participate, Deszeld did not want to participate either. In fact, she did not want to participate more than the other dragon. Nobody told Deszeld what to do. "I will not participate either," the green said rather loudly, "but I could be persuaded by way of gifts and food." She gave a rather pointed look at Muka. "How much longer until you are ready?" Des lifted her brows, a haughty expression overtaking her features.

Being taken into Muka's arms was not only a welcomed gesture from the Strix, but helped to alleviate some of the desire she felt to overcome Ren within a similar embrace. "I have missed you dreadfully, Muka! It is certainly good to see you again. We need to catch up sometime!"
She then, and only then, gave Renaissance that sort of awkward, undivided attention that was a long time coming. The were lemur tried with all her might to keep things feeling natural, but there was only so much she could do for them. Ren was obviously still at odds with their 'relationship', and it showed. Fortunately he seemed willing to let the subject stay beneath the surface, and so the ghoul simply turned in unison with the gryphon to face Sulmanon, looking just as pleased to be distracted by the lovely dragon as the other boil. If not more so. "And I am Natalia." She would have extended a hand in welcome, if Ren hadn't have grabbed it before she was given the opportunity. "

Though she had not really cared for the ghoul's motto suggestion, it did give her some insight into what was acceptable, but when Ren offered a suggestion, she had to giggle. "I like that motto." she commented, stifling another giggle. Then she heard the other ghoul's introduction and replied, "It's nice to meet you Natalia." and then, hearing her comment, she replied with a smile. kurotomato Ren has Sulmanon's vote on the motto.

He wanted to talk to her, more so than he was actually letting on, but the middle of a crowded room that was filled with chattering, cheerful (well, mostly cheerful) students was neither the time, nor the place to have a conversation about feelings.
Ren suppressed the urge to both reach out and hug Natalia and reach out and push her. As it was, he merely reached out and lightly curled his fingers around hers, giving her hand the smallest of squeezes before letting it drop away again.
Lifting an arm, he leaned casually against Sulmanon's shoulder as though she were the perfect armrest. "Whatever we decide, there's just one thing that we have to remember - "
Ren's tone turned Very Serious, the look on his face intense.
" - and that is we have to be better than the ghost dorms, okay, we have to be awesome-er than the ghost dorms and we have to kick their butts because they kind of suck okay so just remember this."
He straightened, nodding because clearly this was important.

Muka was disappointed to hear that both of the dragon ghouls (who seemed less than social) both were declining from participation. The devilish side of him hoped somehow they voted glitter pink bunnies as the mascots, so those ghouls would be forced to have it represent them. Thoughts of bunnies made him hungry. When Deszeld addressed him he was unsure what she meant. "Done?" He questioned and his head turned sideways. Really far sideways. Too far really. "Hmm?"
