 Today was the day. After a whole lot of herb-gathering, produce-picking, stallion-consulting, hard work, and preparation, Hard Truths was finally going to go through with his planned tea party picnic. Having invited Jasmine Tea, he had brought everything out to a nice green patch of grass in the park away from the noise and bustle of Phony City and Phonyland's amusement rides. It was a nicely-shaded place with just the right amount of sunlight poking through the trees and the weather was excellent - a clear sky of blue with a nice breeze blowing through. Everything was going to be perfect. It had to be.
The unicorn carefully spread out the blanket without the use of magic (because if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself), making sure there were no wrinkles in it and that no stray rocks or stones could be felt underneath. He placed carefully placed down the picnic basket he'd borrowed before opening it to lay out the freshly bought and picked ingredients inside. Arranging them as best he could by flavors - sweet fruits, sour citrus, mint leaves, savory herbs, etc - he eventually finished. All that was left to do was sit and wait for his invited guest to arrive with her tea-making set.Byagane319 ((Let me know if you'd like me to change anything. wink ))

 To say the shy, demure filly was surprised to have been invited to a picnic was an understatement. The ruby colored girl had been both astonished and flattered that her newest acquaintance, Hard Truths, had so formally invited her to a picnic and tea making. He seemed quite interested in her ability to make tea and, as her elder brother Ikebana seemed eager to share information, was also prepared to show him a few other things related to her culture. Her brother was quick to point out a few other practices that the colt might like, she had her suspicions about it but kept them to herself. So, with her hair freshly sprayed with the light scent of her namesake flower, Jasmine Tea walked steadily towards the park.
Upon arriving she looked around for the colt of similar hue to her own. Quickly spotting him in a shady spot on a blanket she smiled and daintily trotted over to him. "Konnichiwa, Truth-san," she said politely and giving a soft bow, "I am glad to have been invited to have a picnic and tea with you." Her demeanor was honest and gentle, sky blue eyes sparkling like diamonds as she took a seat and placed her saddle bag on the blanket. "I have brought a few things to help make our tea and...," she smiled, "A few surprises for you my brother suggested."
From her pack she pulled her usual My Little Teapot, a battery powered teapot that helped brew teas and was safe for foals of all ages! She also took out some cups, a few special tins holding different types of teas, a folded up fan, and a few other things that were not obvious in their use. Looking at his collected series of ingredients she smiled and gave a small giggle, "I see you are eager to try different teas. All of these are good and will make different flavors. I have brought some plan leaves with no additional flavoring so you make truly take in their essence." The unicorn raised a few decorative tins with her magic, "These are blends that cannot be made in a short time, I thought you might like them."

"Jasmine! K-kone-y-chee-wah," he answered, grimacing at his horrid pronunciation. "Pardon me. Let's pretend that never happened," the unicorn suggested hurriedly, bowing in return. "I'm honored you could join me. And - surprises?" he asked, cutting himself off. "Wait, which brother? Ikebana?"
He watched distractedly as she brought out her supplies, wondering what on Earth the older stallion could have suggested. He hoped it wasn't too big a surprise; though he was under the impression that others enjoyed them, he himself was not so fond of such things.
"Um...is there anything I can help you with?" Truths asked, eyeing the unexpected items as she lay them out on the blanket. But then she was asking him a question. "Oh, yes...well, I wasn't sure if you might want to try experimenting with a few new flavors yourself and I wasn't sure what you already had the ingredients, so I consulted a few other phonies and brought everything I thought might be appropriate."
He was immensely relieved when she told him the things he brought were good, but he also hoped she wasn't just saying that to make him feel better. Tiger Balm had seemed to think he was insane when he'd suggested using fresh ingredients as opposed to dry ones. "I'm afraid I know next to nothing about your art of tea-brewing. The plain leaves sounds nice, though," he noted, intrigued. "It seems like a good place to start. Thank you for the thought."
He blinked at the tins that she raised, looked back at her, and then at the tins again. "Why...how thoughtful of you. May I ask what flavors they are?" He smiled faintly, as though unsure how. "Which do you suggest we brew first?"

Jasmine gave a soft giggle as the colt attempted to speak Japanese. It could be difficult as it was a very sound oriented language. She continued to lay out the things she needed, putting them in an order she preferred. At the mention of her brother she nodded, "Hai, Ikebana said you had spoken and suggested I show you a few things from our culture. He said you would be appreciative of it."
Truth's interest in her work made her happy, she always enjoyed sharing the simple art of tea making with others. It was an excellent way to socialize and relax. "Well as we have fresh ingredients we will have to steep them a bit longer to ensure the flavors are drawn out properly," she looked over the tins and pulled on out. "This is Rose Tea. It is not to sweet, but more of a pleasant soft sweetness that is meant to ease the mind and soul."
She went about making some as well as choosing a few ingredients to make a special blend from Truth's gifts. "If we combine these in the pot and add some lemon it should taste lovely. But let us have some Rose tea first," she smiled as she brought out some bean buns to eat along with their tea.

The young male unicorn shifted uncomfortably, his nervousness evident, but it lessened as she spoke of Ikebana and the older phony's suggestion. "Did he?" He regarded the items of interest. "That's very kind of both you and him. I do, indeed, appreciate your bringing them." Perhaps later he would have time to ask her about each thing and she might be so gracious to explain.
"Ahh, I see," he answered her in regards to the fresh ingredients. "But as patient as you are, I suppose you're used to having to wait for your best teas? As they say, patience is a virture; something far more rare in young foals than in adults. It's amazing you can exercise such a trait even at our age. It shows true maturity beyond your years."
Gazing at her distractedly, he almost didn't notice the Rose Tea until she started describing it. "Thank you," Truths said, accepting the tin and taking a small, careful sip from it. He discovered the sweetness of teas was rather subtle as opposed to the overwhelming presence of sugar in candies. It was actually pretty nice. Soothing, like she'd mentioned. Part of him wondered if that wasn't just her affect on him instead of the tea beverage.
"Hmm? What are those?" he wanted to know, noticing the bean buns. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing he noticed. Just as he was taking another sip of his Rose Tea, an orange, transparent blob began to invade his peripheral vision. At first he thought it was just a trick of the light or something, but as he watched it, the thing was slowly but surely moving toward them, and with purpose. Truths' frown returned, deepening as the orange blob approached.
"Jasmine," he spoke, calmly but seriously, "Get behind me." What that thing was or what it wanted he wasn't sure, but he wasn't about to let it attack them on this day during this picnic tea party that was supposed to go perfectly as planned.
