Gerry is thought to have a modest build, though slightly on the stocky side. His narrow shoulders hide the fact that he has a well-defined pectoral area, which looks somewhat puffed-out in uniform. There are no major distinguishing marks upon his face. He has a beard which resembles a thick five-o'clock shadow. His nose and ears are both as normal as normal as can be for a white man of Welsh and Irish descent. Beyond that, the rest of his body portrays a moderately lean individual. Long, thin arms, thin legs with average tone make up the rest of his body build.]

[Gerald Pine is in turmoil. Formerly a member of the middle-upper crust, he found his niche as a doctor of medicine. He is educated, highly intelligent, and articulate, but has a tendency to flaunt it about. He has a strong memory and is hypercritical of most things. However, before the incident, they were mostly outward criticisms of others. He was born into the upper crust of the Hermiha District, into a moderately religious family. He attended school and had a knack for music and science. Thus, he always seems to have an ear for music. Gerald's posh upbringing allowed him greater opportunity than most behind the wall. He was allowed to excel in his subjects, rather than deal with other harsher realities. Soon after becoming a doctor, he met a patient named Kristen from the Shiganshina District whom he would end up falling in love with and marrying a year later. He was a satisfied husband, and a happy father when she gave birth a year later.
Unfortunately good times ended, which sent Gerald's life spiraling out of control. His wife and child went back to Shiganshina for a weekend to see the rest of her family while he was busy working at the local hospital. Tragedy struck, and a Titan appeared. It ravaged the whole city. Thousands were killed, including Kristen and his daughter Mirena. Gerald blamed himself. His workaholic upbringing had left him away from his loved ones during the crisis rather than spending their last days as a family. He is constantly filled with regrets, which when left alone for too long will end with him in a deep depression over the pain of his loss. he remains never have properly dealt with it. He no longer had the heart to practice medicine and quit his job, which led him down a spiral of self-destruction. Seeking work, and possibly because he developed a minor death wish, Gerald enlisted into the military, where he fights with as just another soldier. He is now merely a shell of his former brash self. His former focus and determination has been changed to target only the titans. If he succeeds, then he avenges his wife and daughter. If he fails, he dies, where maybe, just maybe if there is a God, he may join them once again.]

[Gerald was born in the District of Hermiha, on 26 August, 28 years ago to Desmond and Helen Pine. They were hard workers and devout to their faiths on their off time. Desmond was a high-ranking clerk while Helen was a lawyer. They raised Gerald to work smartly for his money and that all things evened out in the end. Each followed a different path of devotion. However, their busy lives left Gerald often times alone. His father, after coming home, would often preach about getting good marks in school. Neither were compassionate people. Often feelings were simply not important enough, or got overlooked in the household. Gerald hated it. So throughout his schooling, he would strive to achieve high marks in hopes that one day they would gain enough favor for his parents to connect. They weren't over-achieving, but they were high. High enough to be accepted in the most prestigious classes and schools for higher learning in the Stohess District. Sadly, he became more of a prop for gatherings on behalf of his parents rather than a beloved son. Upon leaving for university, he had become cold, callous, and apathetic. A jaded chip of his parents' block.
In University, he continued his abrasive snobbish, preppy, uncaring adolescent attitude as he strove for a pre-med degree. Continuing to gain high marks, he found a meager enjoyment proving he was better than everybody else. Yet he was still bored and rather empty. When his mother sent notice of his father's heart attack, and death while he was at university. He went unfazed. A pop quiz in biology was more important than returning home for the funeral. At nights, he would wander about the cultured halls of society pretending he was less than just a student. Just, somebody who didn't have his life. Surprisingly, he found some solace upon taking a job to play piano at a local bar which had its own jazz band. It may have been the first time he ever truly relaxed, playing for tips at the bar. It was at that bar where he met Kristen.
Kristen showed up to the bar one night after Gerald had graduated and become Doctor Pine. She was actually just a victim of bad luck. A fight broke out between two patrons, which led to a broken beer bottle being smashed over someone's head. The flying shards flew and nailed Kristen in the face. Gerald came in after the two had been thrown out, taking her to the back room and carefully removed the shards. it was the start of a their beautiful relationship. Through Kristen, he learned love, compassion, commitment, assurance. Things his parents could never give. Together, they brought in a beautiful daughter named Mirena into the world on 04 April. The three of them were a family of fulfillment. They were Gerald's heart and soul.
Everything changed on 04 April, as Mirena was turning one year old. For her first birthday, Kristen wished it to be spent with her family in the Shiganshina District. Unfortunately for Gerald, he was to work through the Third, and could not travel with his wife and daughter. Kristen and Mirena left for Shiganshina on the Second to get everything ready. They could never have expected the attack from a Titan mech that would breach the wall and attack countless lives. Kristen and her family died on the third. Receiving word of another attack, and that Kristen and Mirena were involved, Gerald fled the city to find them. What he found was his daughter on the verge of death. He was able to spend the last three hours of her life together with her in his arms doing everything he could to save her. But even with all of his knowledge of healing, she died as well. 0432 hours, 04 April.
Despair overtook Gerald. The lights of his life were gone. Everything which gave him anything positive, everything that gave him hope, were lost along with his little girl. To this day, he blames himself. Had he been there from the beginning maybe he could have changed things. Had he been a better doctor, maybe he could have saved her life. Had he just been better maybe none of this would have happened to him. Gerald became bitter, angry, and far more daring than he had ever thought possible. Without a care in the world or anything left to look forward to in his life, he became a man with a death wish. The titans had ruined everything. Through his fermented rage upon himself and his situation, he developed a single solitary hope. Kill the titans. Avenge his family by seeing them be destroyed. After all, what had he left to lose?]
