Like so many sheep, a flock of clouds varying in tints, tones, and transparencies crowded about an otherwise brilliantly blue pasture of sky. Often they bumped into one another, melding on occasion or melting away into whisps of nothing. Some bloomed into magnificent pillows of castle-like structures while others dissolved formlessly away into mists of drizzle.
Unfortunately, all this beauty was lost on one very down-to-earth colt. Hard Truths was too busy contemplating the mystery of fillies as he watched the residents of phonyland go about their daily lives. The beauty of nature had yet to cast its spell over the foal, for Truths had his hooves full with all the new experiences that came with youth. He was still busy trying to make sense of other phonies, let alone clouds. The Voice of Time ((Sal can run into him or whatever you like. XD Please let me know if there's anything I need to change~))

If there had been and phony that could understand the beauty of nature, granted in the least mature way, it was definitely this young filly that ran around giggling and chasing the puffy wonders of the sky. They always seemed so...so stunning to her! All the shapes and forms they could mold into, the stories they could tell, it was unbelievable! If only others didn't look like her as if she was a maniac for doing such things...you know what, who cares what the other's had to say! She was having fun, and no one could take that pleasure away from her.
Salvo had been on the chase of a cloud that had taken the form of a penguin, or at least she pretended it did. It didn't look that much like a penguin, considering that as it went on, pieces of it were lost to the other clouds it passed. Once it definitely wasn't the shape of anything she knew, Sal turned on a hoof to chase another cloud before ramming into a vermilion colt. She fell back with a soft thud, blinking a couple of times as she shook her head to recuperate from the impact. "Huh?" She looked at the other with a frown, feeling terrible for just running into him, though this had been a daily occurrence so it wasn't anything necessarily new. But she was still going to apologize. "Sorry 'bout that mister! Didn't see ya there while I was runnin'! Tryin' a keep up with 'em clouds got me kinda...what's the word...oblivious to where i was goin'!" She spoke with a slight drawl, but tried her best to incorporate some of the bigger words she had learned since becoming a filly. Hopefully she didn't get in the way of anything he was doing, that would make her feel terrible!Kitomyx ((Hehe, run-in quite literally achieved! And this is fine ^w^~))

"Oof!" The colt was knocked over along with the brightly-colored filly before he even knew what hit him. By the time he realized what had happened, the other foal was already apologizing. Truths grumpily got to his own hooves.
"'Didn't see where you were running'?" he repeated, sounding incredulous as he rubbed his sore head. "'Keep up with - what?! Are you actually trying to chase down clouds?" The young unicorn glanced up at the elusive wisps dubiously before frowning at the filly. It was a good thing she was cute. If it'd been a colt, he'd likely have given them a mouthful - and worse, besides.
Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to calm his temper before stating sagely, "Why don't you leave that sort of thing to the pegasai? After all, those are way up there," he pointed out, gesturing with his horn, "and we're...well, down here."The Voice of Time ((Sorry I took so long. XP Salvo is so cute~!))

Having actually been genuinely worried for a moment of the possibility of the other snapping at her, she actually gave a surprising sigh of relief at the other's edgy but eventually calm demeanor. At least he was trying too. "Well uh yea..." She started, feeling a bit embarrassed as the other tried to rationalize how it was pretty much impossible for her to ever really be next to one.
She sighed a bit, looking down as she rubbed her front hoof on the ground. "One could always dream ya know, I mean I know such a thing is pretty impossible considerin' I ain't got any wings to get all up close 'n personal with 'em, but...they're still pretty interestin' to watch from down here!"
And before the other could say another word, she had rolled onto her back and beckoned with a hoof for the other to join her, starting to point up at the sky. "Look there! You see that fluffy one? Kinda looks like a sheep, don't it? Why, if you looked at the sky hard enough you could probably find a whole zoo up there! Not too long ago before bumpin' in'a you I found somethin' that looked like one of 'em penguin feller's!" She exclaimed, giving a giggle at her own foolishness. She couldn't help it though, clouds just made her so...excited!Kitomyx ((Haha, it's fine >w< And thank you o w o I don't normally rp feminine characters, so this is going to be something new to me >w<))

Something about the way the filly spoke regarding how she knew her dream was impossible made Truths regret having spoken so harshly. "Now don't say that," he countered. "It's not impossible, just...not practical. There are plenty of ways to get up there. Hot air balloon, help from a pegasus, unicorn magic..." He shook his head. "I just don't know why you'd want to." He waved a hoof at them. "They're just clouds."
Evidently they were not 'just clouds' to the filly, though. He stared at her skeptically as she invited him to join her in the grass on her back. He cringed at the idea. Lying on the ground? No thanks, he could see the clouds just fine as he was. "Mm, yes, I suppose," he affirmed when she pointed out the sheep cloud, though they pretty much looked all the same to him. Still, animal-shaped or not, they did have some interesting shapes and textures.
"So, what," he said, looking to her with a smirk. "you want to get up there to run a zoo of cloud animals?" It seemed her enthusiasm had gotten to him.The Voice of Time ((Ooh, I see. XD Well you're doing awesome!))

There was a slight kick of her hooves as she rolled to lay on her stomach, eyes still fixed on the clouds as she barely noticed the others words, nor that he hadn't joined her. She'd become rather lost in the shapes the clouds were making, giggling as she imagined a bountiful number of creatures dancing around each other by the way the breeze took them. Though, when the other mentioned the possibility of her running a zoo of cloud animals well, that thrilled here. "If such a thing could happen, than i'd be the first to run one! And it'll be the best place in Phonyland!" She chirped, finally casting her glance at the colt.
"It's not like stranger things've been done 'round these parts. Like, how there used to be phonies way back that could tell fortunes just by lookin' at the shape of 'em. You could guess how surprised one'd be when it actually came true!" She said, smiling brightly. "And before we got things like Tele'rvision to tell us when it'd rain by phonies usin' their unicorn magic, any ol' colt or filly could be able to look up at a cloud and be like, 'Well good golly, I think it's gonna rain!' Then they'd scoot on over to 'em farmin' phonies and, well you get the picture!" Sal decided to end her story before she kept rambling on, glancing away uneasily as she felt bad for getting so carried away. Then a thought made her gasp.
"Gosh! I never even introduced myself! Name's Salvo Overcast, but you can call me Sal for short if ya want!" Kitomyx ((Thanks >3< This is also my first MLP rp, and I feel like i'm using some of the generic terms a bit too much. I'll try and ease out of that the best I can... sweatdrop ))

Feeling slightly perturbed by the impression that he was being ignored, Truths rolled his eyes and shook his head pityingly when the bright filly chose to selectively hear what he'd said about the cloud animal zoo. At least she had been reasonable enough to begin with, 'if such a thing could happen'. "What's so much greater about cloud animals than real ones?" he wanted to know, giving her a sideways look as she glanced his way.
The cloud fortune-telling was something new to him. "I've never heard of such a thing," he expressed dubiously. "Perhaps it was just coincidence. As for phonies being able to tell if it's going to rain from just looking at clouds," he continued with a grin, "I know a colt who does just that. I met him while he was predicting a rain storm, as a matter of fact. And I'm not sure that's stranger than the idea of running a cloud animal zoo." It would have been interesting for Weatherly and this filly to meet, Truths thought. After all, they shared the same interest in the sky, clouds, and weather, but they each perceived said interest in completely different ways.
He looked over at her, startled by her exclamation when she suddenly realized she hadn't introduced herself. "Sal..." he repeated slowly. "Intriguing name; unique." He couldn't help wondering what the odd filly's purpose in life could possibly be. Surely not a cloud animal zookeeper. "I'm Hard Truths. Though if you're going to use a nickname, I'd prefer 'Truths' to something silly like 'Truthie'." He made a face, recalling Acid Beat's first use of the latter. The Voice of Time ((Wow, really? Looking rather surprised, the filly tilted her head at the vermilion colt. "Really now? Gotta meet up with this Weatherly fella' sometime... maybe you can introduce me or somethin'!" She finished with a grin, crossing her front hooves and lowering her head on them. "Nice to meet ya Truths! I hope ya don't mind me usin' yer shorter name or anythin'...but I won't call ya any of them embarrassin' names so long as ya don't go 'n call me Sally!" A small snort was given at the end, further implying her distaste in such names.
Sighing, she once again smiled. "Obviously you can have a wider range o' possibilities with cloud animals! There's so much untapped imagination in everyphony, and interpretin' the shaped can be a way to bring it out!" There was clearly another world that she saw, one much more vibrant and full of wonder. Full of dreams. And hopefully such dreams could bring her closer to getting her cutie mark. Though, in all honesty she'd never even had a single thought about what her purpose truly was. Perhaps discovering it could be a happy accident? Hopefully...
"So Truths," The yellow filly started, lifting up her head a bit and aiming a curious gaze at the other. "If ya don't mind me askin', what do ya think yer purpose in life is? Ya know...since the whole talk about runnin' a zoo full a cloud animals actually got me thinkin' about what mine could possibly be...of course I ain't gonna be a Zoo-keeper for cloud animals! That's just crazy talk right there!" Though...if such a thing were possible, it would be pretty cool. Oh oh, or maybe a cloud animal circus! Nah...that'd only be possible when the wind currents were fast enough to move them fast enough...ok off topic! Now she was going to listen about her new acquaintances own take on what he might be!
Kitomyx ((I'm alive--and i'm sorry if it's crappy 'n all I wrote it when my parents were talking so it ruined my train of thought-- Also despairrrr-- Sal grew up so long ago and I wasn't even here to freak out about it because of school and everything...I still wanna rp her as a baby though because, even if it isn't necessary, I want her to have experienced her elements and find her purpose in life-- Hopefully this is acceptable and that i'll actually find people that want to rp with me-- I just feel so panicked and like...all over the place Q~Q))

"A simple task," Truths assured her. Perhaps Weatherly could knock a little more sense into this silly filly while they both still got to chatter on about what seemed to be their favorite topic. "I'll see what I can do."
"Alright," he agreed regarding names, half amused, half curious. "But why? 'Sally' isn't such a bad name. At least it's still a girl's name, too. Does someone you don't like call you that?"
To hear her talk was like listening to someone who had never even heard of limits, restrictions, or impossibilities. It was like she knew the facts, but was determined not to let them get in the way of her vision. It was a vision that she didn't seem to have any doubt she could achieve, whatever it was, given enough time and motivation. If the topic hadn't been something as absurd as zookeeping imaginary cloud animals, Hard Truths thought he might have been inspired.
"I wonder..." he began, tilting his head back for a second look at the sky, "I wonder if you couldn't...interact with them some way. And not doing something so useless as chasing them down, either." There was a funny look in his eyes as he studied the collected masses of water vapor overhead. Perhaps he'd been inspired after all. "I mean, what if you could...shape them yourself?" Images of smoke came to mind and how some people who came to Phonyland could blow clouds of it into different shapes. "We can't fly, but...there are other ways to reach the sky. Herd them, maybe."
To blow a cloud across the sky would be far too slow, even with a pegasus' power. But recalling some nights when Phonyland would have firework shows, Truths remembered the straggling wisps that they left in their wake, tracing where only a moment ago had been a brilliant burst of light and then a phantom image. Cutting through clouds was easy enough, but what about blasting through them? What kind of effect would that make?
He snapped out of his thoughtful trance when he felt the scrutiny of her eyes upon him and turned to meet their gaze. "Huh?" Her question came as a surprise. Truths couldn't remember anyone ever really asking him about himself before; not even the other foals he knew like Mooncake or Acid Beat.
"Heh...maybe your talent is crazy talk, then, what with you going on about 'untapped imagination in everyphony' and all that." He swept a circle in grass with a hoof. "I don't really know," he admitted after some silence. "All I know how to do is tell the truth, but that doesn't always seem to be a good thing. A lot of people are hurt by it."
He kicked at a stray rock among the grass blades. "I can't really blame them for it. The truth hurts. The most I can do is try to get them used to it." Which meant no being too nice to others. Which meant being the subject of anger and sadness. Which the foal tried to convince himself that he was okay with.
Though he'd tried long ago to get rid of it, Truths never really managed to avoid feeling guilty for the pain that his brutal honesty often caused others. One of the reasons he was frequently more brash than he had to be was to get both himself and others used to his ways, but by now he doubted he would ever be completely free of guilt.
Yes, some kinds of pain caused by lesser lies were easier than others for people to take, and yes, sometimes people deserved it after feeding others lies. But when others turned on you for doing simply what you felt in your heart was right, there were times you started to doubt if it was right or not.The Voice of Time ((Nooo, no, it's perfectly fine! I know how that feels like. XD Both those feelings - parents and school/RL in general. Don't worry; Jun just managed to comment on their growths themself only recently because they've been busy, too. And I've been too busy with work and school to keep up, so I've probably been slower than you!
I really admire that you still want to keep her a baby and rp out all her elements. ^_^ I would too if I was in your situation, but I know not everyone would. I'm sure people will certainly want to roleplay with you, especially since you're here for the actual playing and not just the art. From what I've seen so far (being practically as new as you are), they seem to appreciate characters in personality and concept as much as appearances. We're all a little slow with school and life and work, but I think that makes us all a little more patient, tolerant, and considerate of each other's situations as well, so take all the time in the world you need!
Also...I apologize for Hard Truths' random moment of...drama? Spilling his guts? Or whatever it is. o_o He's never been so open or been so vulnerable in talking with anyone like this before. Heh, he's probably talking about it more than she wanted or expected. XD; I guess he feels comfortable with her.))

A smile brightened, the young filly lowering her head back down as she spoke. "Sweet, can't wait!" To meet another phony with similar interests was an exciting thought, though from what little she heard heard from Truths it was pretty easy to assume that they both appreciated what the sky had to offer in different ways. Oh well, so long as she could make a new friend it wouldn't hurt!
The look of joy quickly contorted to that of slight disgust at the other nickname, Sal sticking out her tongue a bit when he mentioned it. "Ain't about that to be honest, it's just a little to girly for me to like...Er...like how ya don't like bein' called 'Truthie'. The little sound there it makes just...gives it a...feminine air...hope I used the word right."
And then there was a short pause from the other, one that ended as Truths began to actually verbally think about the possibilities of manipulating the clouds. Intent, lime eyes focused on the colt, listening to every word he had to say and considering them. And, to be honest, she was pretty surprised. Not many were as open-minded as she was when it came to topics like this, usually being the older phonies that would look down on her and say that her dreams were childish and she needed to think of things that were more realistic to spend her time on. Sure, the other may have told her that at first but...he at least tried to think of ways to make the impossible possible in a logical sense. It made Sal think of him as being almost...philosophical? Perhaps.
Glancing up at the colt, she gave a bit of a chortle before grinning at his remark. "Ya never know~! Though, wonder what a cutie mark fer somethin' like that'll look like...maybe a like a mouth all weird lookin' 'n whatnot!" The light talk soon died off once he went on, elaborating on the hardships of what the only thing he could do were.
"Well I don't see any problem with it." She started, her voice toning down to a more serious note. She didn't intend to make the other feel bad, but the curiosity the filly had never really was one of the best traits to have. Now all she could do was try her best to make it up to him.
But how was she supposed to go about doing that? A flick of a tail, a twitch of an ear. There was no way she could convince the other unless she thought this through well enough...but what could she say? "A lot'a phonies ain't perfect... heck, I ain't even perfect! I mean, I just go on about how fun it'd be to own a zoo full o' clouds all day! But, we all are special in our own way...the way we see things can vary from filly to colt...and your way is special!"
Not that bad, but how to continue... "See..yer very...what's the phrase...down-to-Earth? And in a sense...you try to bring other's down with ya--" Whoops "But I ain't sayin' it in a bad way! 'S like... ya don't want other's ta be too...ego...istic? Istical? Er, not really bright on 'em bigger words but uh...yea. You just try ta look out for others by tryin' to tell 'em things that some phonies would feel bad for pointin' out about'em." Was that a good enough save? Hopefully... "You just...you just wanna benefit 'em but you don't know how else ta go about it, so you do it...in really the only way you've known...which i'm guessin' is bein' as truthful about'em as you'd probably want phonies to do for you." Then a smile pulled on her expression, giggling a bit. "Just don't go tellin' any fillies everythin' wrong with 'em or you might end up with a good ol' shiner!" There, a way to lighten up the mood.
Sal really did hope that her way of explaining things was favorable, after all she really couldn't stand the vibe Truths was giving off. Maybe she shouldn't have asked about what the other's purpose was. Wow...only the first phony she met and she already managed to ruin the mood. That joke at the end of her pep talk was the only trump card that could possibly save this conversation. The only thing that was left now was waiting to see how the vermilion colt would react.
Kitomyx (( I feel like it's been longer than a week since this was sent --
But yea I got caught up in schoolwork and such again this time, though i'm pretty happy with the grades I have thus far! I mean, straight A's this year! I've never managed to keep up with homework this well before >w< Hopefully this routine can keep on.
Eep-- Yea, I think I just find the whole 'me wanting her to stay a baby' thing a bit awkward now considering that none of her 'siblings' (The other sitting phonies) have yet to rp and just-- yea...xD I'm still doing it though, gonna make the plotting thread and everything! I just..have to find...the time...and like..focus...//casually flops face-first on couch.
It's fine if Truths is being all open like this to be honest. I've dealt with this so many times in roleplays to a point that well, I like it and find it interesting. Everyone needs to let off a little steam from all the stress once in awhile, and so long as Sal is around she won't let their needs be neglected! After all, if he's even offering ideas to make her cloud-zoo dream a reality then the least she can do is hear him out as well.
Let the pep-talks commence!

Smirking at Salvo's reasoning regarding the girly nickname, he said, "Actually, another foal I know came up with 'Truthie'. I would have never conceived it otherwise. I suppose you're right; the suffix makes it sound a little more feminine or childish...but in the case of the former, isn't that what you are, being female?"
"A cutie mark for something like what? Crazy talk?" The colt sneered. Soon that sneer broke into snickers as the mental image Salvo described came to mind. "Wouldn't that be something..." he murmured, amused.
What remained of his sneer transformed into a crooked, sardonic grin when the yellow filly claimed not to have a problem with his honesty. "Ha. Maybe not now," he answered, "but you haven't seen me at my worst. My name isn't Hard Truths for nothing." She didn't seem the sensitive type, especially with how well he'd taken his curt and direct conversation up until now, but that didn't mean she was impervious to hurt feelings. Not that he wanted to hurt her.
"Mmm...special," he repeated, regarding her with a look of vague humor once more. "I appreciate the sentiment, Salvo, but you really don't need to try to make me feel better. I know who I am and what I do. I could change, but it's my choice to be this way." Her reasoning regarding his 'bringing others down' caused his crooked grin to broaden.
"Even if you don't mean it in a bad way, it's true. What I do tends to bring others down - for better or for worse. They may not like me for it, but I've come to accept that." Truths cast her a softer smile; one a bit bitter but more genuine than the last. "I'm grateful you seem to understand where I'm coming from, though. It's nice to think at least some phonies do."
The warning about earning a shiner caused the unicorn to stare at her a moment before laughing aloud. "Yes, well...I guess I'd deserve it then, wouldn't I? I've come pretty close to that, actually."The Voice of Time ((Sorry I took so long to respond. XD I wanted to make a post worthy of a reply to yours.

Giving a drained sigh at the question, Sal frowned once again at the other's persistence on figuring out she did not like the nickname. After all, she figured that subject was long dropped, wishing to address more prominent issues. "Well yea, I know i'ma female, but I just feel like if Phonies were to go 'round callin' me 'Sally' then they'd think lesser of me. Y'know what I mean? Like, suddenly I can't be treated the same as some colt or somethin' 'cause i'm just 'lil ol' Sally' who could 'break a hoof' tryin'a do sun'in harder for a filly." Call it the sparks of Feminism, but it was a belief of something she was truly passionate about. After all, it was unfair that she'd have to be oppressed by others just because of what she appeared to be rather than who she was.
Once again shifting positions, as it seemed rather impossible to keep her on one fixed spot for too long, the yellow filly's expression had made a rather impressive shift from one of slight annoyance to astonishment. Well, it surely seemed like the other could handle talking about himself this way. Yet, as much of a relief it was, Sal still couldn't help but worry as least slightly by the tone he used. After all, accepting of his behavior or not, Truths still deserved to have someone to tell him that all wasn't too bad. He really didn't seem to be that bad, and she still remained quite intent on making him believe some of what she had to say.
"Well, thing is is that I really do mean it when I say yer special. 'Mean, usin' all them big words, gettin' caught up in the fantasy even if it wasn't yours and givin' ways to make it possibly happen, not a lot'a phonies can do that sort'a thing as logically as you can. You know lots for a colt, and that's sun'in rather unique. Not tryin' to sugar coat things here y'know? Bein' truthful, just like you." A smile took over her expression again, tail giving the occasional flick.
"It's no problem really. I try my best to stand up for others, and I only think it's right that you get some helpful words of...sort'a like encouragement I guess? Probably not the right word but eh, not as educated as you probably are so I wouldn't know. Hey hey, maybe you could teach me a couple'a things one day, spread the knowledge! Well, actually I think that's a pretty random request to accept from a stranger...n'less...we're possibly friends or sun'in?" Sal was pretty sure they'd only been 'acquaintances' upon meeting, though she was hopeful that that would have possibly changed.
Giving an amused expression at the last part, the filly tilted her head and grinned a bit, showing obvious interest in the story the other possibly had to share. "Oh? Why dont'cha tell me 'bout this run-in y'almost had?" Ah yes, this was surely going to be something rather interesting to say the least.~Kitomyx [((Guess who's back back back back again, 'gain, 'gain eue

Truths snorted. "Hm. I never thought of that," he murmured upon the subject of the influence feminine names could have. "But then I suppose I've never before encountered the problem." Sensing her tiring of the subject, he decided to let it drop. Still, it fascinated him that she had put so much thought into the effect of a simple nickname and the impression it could give others. At most, he might have thought her reason would have involved being a tomboy or something of that sort, but it seemed to go deeper than just that. Plus he hadn't realized such a seemingly carefree filly could get annoyed; especially by such a small thing. It was kind of cute.
Her next words were said in such a way that the unicorn couldn't really think of how to answer for a while. He was speechless for a bit before being forced to accept her well-put compliment. So when he finally opened his mouth, all he could manage was a subdued, "Thank you," accompanied with a shy glance.
Smirking in amusement at her expressed belief that he be 'encouraged', the colt shook his head. "I'm no more educated as you are. I just have a different way of speaking, same as you do - though maybe not with so endearing a manner." He shrugged. "It's just how we were made, I guess. Ha ha, but if you really want me to teach you - at the risk of you sounding like a complete and utter snob like me - I wouldn't mind." He grinned at her. "I don't usually make too many friends, especially not this quickly after meeting them...but if you're okay with it, I think at this point I'd be okay, too."
"Ah...I was worried you'd ask about that," Truths murmured, though he seemed more flustered and embarrassed than upset or angry that she'd asked. "It's actually happened more than once and it wasn't just a filly, either. But how was I to know flutter colts could be so sensitive?" Scratching the back of his neck guiltily with a hoof, he looked anywhere but at Salvo. "The one to almost punch me was the filly, though. Her name's Tiger Balm. We're both pretty strong-minded and stubborn, so we don't get along too well. I believe I'd done something along the lines of insulting her shop, which is located in a back alley. That, and possibly a few other things about how she kept it and how she was stupid for not understanding why I wanted fresh ingredients for tea...even though I was the ignorant one in that department." Though his face was naturally red, it seemed his cheeks had darkened just a few shades. "She was smaller than me then, but that isn't so now."The Voice of Time ((Welcome back! ^_^; Sorry I took so long to reply, heh.

Taking in the other's words, Sal began to give the colt a grin of her own, rolling for a moment before sitting back up. "Well, I'll be makin' sure I won't be goin' about usin' anything you teach me without hesitation first then. Wouldn't wanna accidentally say the wrong thing'n make a fool of myself now." Once the other had agreed to the proposal of friendship, the filly couldn't help but let out a holler of joy, the sudden burst of enthusiasm to cause a slip of judgement, tackling the other into an embrace of sorts. But who wouldn't have done the same if this was their first friend? "I promise I'll be a good friend to ya! Never let you down or anythin'!" It was only then that she noticed the position she had on the other, looking quite embarrassed as she backed off with a lowered head. "Uh, sorry about that."
It was then that she plopped back down, watching Truths explain his own experiences that he had endured. It was enough to earn a chuckle or two, Sal purely amused by the story. There was surely many things that she had to look forward too...her own adventure. And a strong part of her hoped it would be something just as crazy as the colt's. "Someone seems to be the master of usin' his own words then...maybe you should be a little more cautious. 'N specially if you know she bites back!" The look of amusement faded then, becoming almost genuinely serious. "Though, you shouldn't have gone around an' started pickin' on things like that...considerin' you don't even know why she might'a set it up as is. That's can be really harmful to anyphony, and it hurts the most when they take pride in it." She felt to be contradicting herself there, considering how she had agreed that it was right for him to tell others before. But this was different though, considering it wasn't the phony themselves but something more sentimental to them. "Though, if there were like spiders crawlin' this way 'n that...and dirt everywhere then you got yourself a different situation entirely!" Thankfully the lighthearted expression returned then, the filly not one to be able to stay mad at another. Especially since Truths was a friend now...and that she could be a little more understanding of his behavior.
Suddenly a devilish smirk appeared on Sal's face, a curious glint obvious in her eyes. "So tell me, casanova, who were you gettin' tea leaves for anyway? I mean you don't really seem the die-hard tea type considerin' you obviously had trouble when you went to a shop for ingredients." "If it's 'saying the wrong thing' you're worried about, then you'd better not listen to me at all," Truths replied with a sneer. "I don't know how much a fool you'd make of yourself, but I know you wouldn't be making many friends." He blinked rapidly in surprise at her hollar, unsure for a moment what Salvo seemed to be so happy about. In his opinion, her joy seemed far too disproportionately enthusiastic to simply be in regards to his mutual agreement of friendship. Thus, he was so busy contemplating this that he didn't even know what hit him when the filly performed a tackle-glomp. "AH!" He had never been glomped before, let alone while in a state of confusion and pondering something else. As a result, he was completely caught off-guard.
Yellow-gold eyes went wide as he stared up at her. "..." He was, yet again, struck speechless by Sal, even when she apologized for her behavior and got off him. Even in his most hyper moments, not even Acid Beat had done such a thing. "I...it's alright," he said gradually, managing to sit back up. The unicorn colt still seemed a bit stunned by what had happened, though. "I'm just not...used to so much...bodily contact." Especially not with fillies. Why did he suddenly feel the overwhelming urge to go find the largest boulder in Phonyland and hide under it?
By the time Sal had seemed to calm down and was responding to his story about Tiger, however, Truths had gathered most of his wits once more. "Heh...perhaps I should," he softened, before realizing what he was saying. "But I wouldn't be who I was if I p***y-footed around things, now would I? Naturally we're going to butt heads from time to time, being of like minds, but it would be silly to worry about everything that came out of my mouth simply because it might offend someone else. I can't help what I think, and no matter what we say, it's bound to offend someone, isn't it?"
He considered her point regarding pride and hurt, knowing full well he held his own pride very dear. Truths smiled a little, his smile crooked, but it was a smile nonetheless. "Well, I can't very well know what's dear to her if I don't see how she reacts to my insults," he answered. "As I said, she's a lot like me; not likely to express her passion or feelings for anything in particular unless they happen to be the subject of ridicule or offense." Tipping his head sideways, he added, "When you think about it, it's really just another way of trying to get to know someone - sometimes the only way, if they aren't receptive to a friendly approach. It's not something they can easily conceal or lie about, either."
"For example," he said, leaning back a little more, "friends get along, sure, but true friends can disagree from time to time. They fight and quarrel, but the fact that they can remain friends despite their differences just shows they can tolerate one anothers' flaws. They recognize the others' flaws and understand them; they're okay with the person overall anyway. To me, that means more than simply being civil to someone all the time and supporting them in everything. Or, as it seems a lot of young lovers do, convince themselves that the person of their affections is perfect and without flaws." He sighed. "You would be amazed how many convince themselves that love is supposed to be like that. Ugh..."
He rolled over onto his stomach, only to come face to face with a daisy. As he stared at it, Salvo's next words made him tense and grimace. "And what if I was the 'die-hard tea type', just simply inexperienced in the ways of tea? I'm only a foal, after all." He picked the daisy absently, focusing his vision on it rather than on the filly he was conversing with. The Voice of Time ((Heyyy, I wanted to talk to you about what you had put earlier! I actually had it up in another window, but then my browser crashed and it disappeared. XP We need to discuss that, you.
Also, I apologize for the lateness of my reply. I've been pretty busy with finals at school. It's that time of year.))
