She didn’t understand why the goddess gave her a bag, but it perked her interest nonetheless. Excitedly, Daaiji opened the bag, but to her dismay found it empty. “Um…?” Eyes wide, she looked up at the woman in hopes of receiving an answer or explanation. It wasn’t much of an explanation and it wasn’t quite an answer, but it was something. It was something that told her what she could do about it, and Daaiji obliged. This she could work with. She tilted her head as she took the scissors and examined the gleam of the metal. All she had to do was cut out a heart? Perhaps some wouldn’t be too pleased, but this was nothing to her. At least, she thought so.

Daaiji nodded obediently and entered through the opening toward the three doors. Her face lit up with recognition when she saw the door with a red spiral. Somewhere on her was a similar marking. She giggled. Maybe that door was for her? Curious, she ran toward the middle door.

The sound of people cheering wasn’t what she expected when she walked through the door, but she didn’t hate it. Actually, Daaiji could even say it was a nostalgic sensation that she wanted to experience for a while more. Yet her vision filled with flashes of faces and photos. The mouths moved and she wondered if she imagined voices chanting a single word repeatedly. She stumbled forward as the images clouded her vision, overloading her senses until everything ended with a single flash of still bodies staring straight at her. The door slammed shut with a loud bang, and she broke into a run despite the sudden onslaught of darkness.

Darkness was nothing to her. She was fine with darkness. Daaiji stretched out her arms to feel her way around as she run, and indeed she found herself slamming straight into a crate. The shadow groaned as she knelt down on the ground. She held her head for a few moments before reluctantly standing up and attempting to walk around.

Thud.

The crate blocked her path. She opted to examine the box some more, and found that it was open.

Thud.

She put her hand inside; dark hands brushed against fabric. “Huh.” She reached for the fabric again and rubbed the cloth between her fingers before she dropped it with a soft plop. Daaiji blinked when she could have sworn she heard something. Perhaps it was calling to her? She continued to fiddle around with the fabric until she spotted a pale glow. She held her breath and tore away a piece of cloth to reveal her treasure—the heart.

It wasn’t quick, but it wasn’t necessarily hard either. She merely snipped away at whatever was holding the Heart back. The shadow didn’t think too deeply about it until she had already rolled the heart into the bag.

”I’m Jay! What about you?” Bright blue wings striped with white and black fluttered loudly. She grinned until it nearly fell off her face.

“Zhi!” With wide eyes, he towered over her with flapping sleeves and a smile to match her own.

“Okay. ZhiZhi then!” She fell into laughter as she jumped up to wrap tan arms around his broad shoulders.

She walked forward. After taking a few steps she paused. Daaiji gradually shifted her weight onto one foot. The floor was different. It wasn’t as solid as before. Actually, she could even say it was an indescribable combination of sticky yet slippery. She wasn’t even sure how the two adjectives could melt together, but they did. She made a face, her arms stretched out as she tried to make her way back to the door.

Somewhere behind her she heard footsteps, so she turned around, but saw no one. She kept walking.

“Please give it back.”

“No.” The word escaped her lips without a second thought as she looked back again. Nothing.

“Please give me back my heart—“

Hands grabbed her from behind and she immediately tried to wiggle free as she fell deep into the water. Her wings dragged her down and silently she cursed their existence as the hands dragged her further into the darkness. Daaiji tried not to breathe in the water as she felt herself slowly pull away from reality. Disappearing into the pale grey.

She reached out to grab his face and pull him closer. Her bandana-covered forehead pressed against his before she leaned in to place a playful peck on his lips. She laughed as soon as she saw his baffled face, but he gladly returned the favor. “ZhiZhi!” She buried her face in the crook of his neck. “Let’s go adventuring!”

Always so ambiguous. But always so fun, so loving, caring. Friends.

It was with a heavy heart that she lifted her scissors and plunged the item deep into a gaping hole. Sorry. Daaiji flinched at the scream, but at last she could breathe. She spat out mouthfuls of water before picking herself up and rushing toward the door. She didn’t want to look at his tall, hunched figure.

She woke up cold and hissing with annoyance. “I don’t remember falling asleep,” Daaiji muttered. Narrowed eyes took in the white walls and the metal table. She tried to stare into the bright lights and wanted to bat away the buzzing in her ears. Other than the table and herself, there was nothing in the room. She slid off the table and approached the door. It opened, so she stepped out. The door snapped shut, yet when she spun around it still hung open. Eyes narrowed, but she reluctantly began to walk down the corridor.

The corridor stretched almost endlessly, but at the end was the exit. That, she could at least see.

Thud.

She kept walking.

Thud.

This time she looked back. Her jaw locked up when Daaiji realized who it was. She paused, wondering if it would do anything. The moment it moved she too, began to walk again. Then she moved to a sprint.

Eyes glanced to the side to stare at a cipher.

She kept running, but as she ran she felt something blurring her vision. A memory, perhaps?

She giggles loudly as she twirls around in a bright blue dress. It’s different from her usual attire, covered in dark red with flickers of bluejay blue. Her eyes are wide with excitement and glee as she chirps, “This is amazing! You’re absolutely fantastic! We’re definitely ready for this silly prom or whatever.”

Her hands lack the usual bandages and her skin is devoid of her favorite red war point. She holds a thin mask in one hand before jumping up to wrap her arms around his shoulders. “You look super nice too! Maybeyoushouldkeepdressinglikethat?IlikeaZhiZhidressedinanicesuitIreallydoIdo.” Overcome with excitement, her words begin to run together as she leaned her head against his. She hears the fabric moving; it’s his sleeves. Then she hears his laughter as he wraps his arms around her slender waist and hugs her tightly.

“And I really like a JayJay in a nice dress! Maybe I can make Senga something too? We can drag him to the prom with us…”

She finds herself twittering happily. “Yesyesyes!”

She breezed through fresh air as she escaped the hallway. Daaiji looked back and she could see the figure behind her, his long sleeves flapping clumsily. He seemed so happy as he chased her. She almost felt bad.

But then he wanted to cut out her Heart so no, she kept running.

Even as the bridge appeared she ran. Her wings spread out slightly as she leapt across in a series of brief strides. The shadow heard a large crack behind her. Oh, had the floorboards fallen, perhaps? She hoped so.

And there was the figure, with his teasing and taunting. It sounded so lighthearted, but she wanted to keep her Heart.

A giant haunted house blocked her way, leaving her with no choice but to turn yet. But if she turned around she would undoubtedly…Daaiji hesitated, but the weapon in her hands glowed. Her face lit up. That was right. Hadn’t the goddess given her a dagger? The dagger in her hand. It was here for this moment. If she was fast enough—

”Do you miss it sometimes?” The question comes suddenly, and somehow it comes from herself. She hums softly as she perches in a tree, one leg hanging over a branch as she laces flowers together in a necklace. Her face is calm, but mildly curious as she leaned over to drop the necklace. It lands perfectly on his head.

Silence. “Sometimes,” he admits. “I think about my family every so often.”

“Does it hurt?”

“Yeah, but it can’t be helped, right? It’s because I loved them. It hurts because they were important to me.”

“Oh.” She doesn’t say anything else. She just stays in the tree, her hands laced together as she stares at the sky. “I want to go home.”

She can hear the bitter smile in his voice. “I know.”

--the dagger cleanly slid into his chest. She closed her eyes. Daaiji tried to reach for his falling figure, but he had already disappeared. “…I’m sorry.” Sullenly, she stared at the dagger in her hand before walking through the door.

Am not,” she answers with an indignant. Her arms fold across her chest. “No thanks. I just want to get this fini..” Cookies. She presses her lips together, but bandaged arms reach for one. “Thanks.”

“Love?” She chews on the cookie slowly. “Love is kind of a strong word, don’t you think?” Daaiji shrugs, but seems eager nonetheless. “Sure! That sounds interesting. Tea party or not.” She skips through the gates.

Her sandaled feet step through the solid white. Chills run up her legs with each step, but she has to keep moving. The table has caught her interest and she’s dying to know what the jars on top are for. Her arms reach for the pink jar and she drinks it. She giggles when she feels herself bubble up with happiness. She takes a cookie.

The pleasant feeling lingers, but now she can actually think more calmly. She smacks her lips, realizes she wants a drink. Her gaze hovers over the set of tea cups in front of her before taking the yellow one.

She’s tired of wearing the smile on her face. It almost looks like her usual grin, but it’s only just a mask. Sometimes she can fool herself into pretending everything is okay, but nothing is okay. The isles are gone. Her home is gone. Her family is gone. No one is left. Just her.

Feigning normalcy is easy. It’s all about adaptation; that’s what she tells herself. Her eyes are wide with fake interest as she climbs up the trees. They aren’t the same as the ones from home. She can’t even hear the loud chattering of the tiny animals. There are no tree houses for her to take refuge in when she grows tired or bored. She folds her wings to her side as she stares down at the forest floor. So tiring. So boring.

She jumps, hoping it’ll provide brief entertainment. She even spreads her arms out and jumps.

But she lands earlier than usual. Rather, she lands on someone.

“Is my…is my fluffy thing…still fluffy?”

The question catches her off guard, but reaches out for said-fluffy thing. “Yes. It’s still very fluffy.” Quite fluffy, actually. She found herself suddenly burying her face in it. She heard his face planting into the ground. Oh.

“The fluffy thing is very comfortable, isn’t it?”

“Ye—“ He was poking her in the sides. She recoils away, arms over her sides as she tries to not to admit she’s ticklish. “—HAHAHA YES! Ve—HAHAH—ry comfor—HAHAHA—table!” True laughter, not fake laughter that rings hollow. She clings onto the fluffy thing, but also inadvertently chokes him.

She lets go, but takes another moment to bury her face in the fluff. It’s gentle, soft. It relaxes her and she lets her smile truly. Maybe she doesn’t have to feign normalcy.

“Sorry about falling on you.” She laughs.

Oh, was this how people laughed sincerely…? It was a nice feeling, a pleasant feeling. It made her feel light, as if she was soaring through the air even when she was firmly planted to the ground.

Colour of Tea Tasted: A pale pink. Rose?
Description: Pain first: sharp, bitter. It fades slowly to reveal first discomfort and then a light, uplifting base.

Your commentary on its flavour: The first thing he thought was that everything was gone. Home, family, islands? The last one was strange, but Sarviur thought of World's Edge and he sympathized. And unfamiliarity, something rather confusing. He sympathized with this, too: he disliked seeing all the alien sights of the world around him, people without cores and people who seemed to do something other than...survive. It quickly turned into something fluffy, happy, though, leaving laughter ringing in his ears. At least this person knew how to find happiness. Sarviur wasn't sure he'd be able to deal in anything but comfort.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Light pink
Description: Bitter that leaves a light and sweet after taste.

Your commentary on its flavour:
It started in such a way that Andie really wished he could give the person a hug and as it continued he had wondered if the person would ever be happy. He was very glad that it seemed in the end she had found a possible friend to help her feel joy again. He hoped the person had either found or made a home she was happy with after wards.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Pale Pink
Description: Fluffy, playful, carefree and happy

Your commentary on its flavour: Finally a good memory, it seemed frothy and light and airy. Like playing in the grass during the summertime. Liom couldn't help but let out a low chuckle as he let the memory play out in his head, adding the the laughter he felt from the girl. It was a nice feeling, and he needed it himself.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Pale Pink
Description: Dull (at first), then playfulness

Your commentary on its flavour: Acerola tasted something bitter and something fake at first....the tea started out very mild and bland. She wanted to scream at the girl to stop when she considered jumping off from a high place "for entertainment", and was relieved when the girl landed on something...even if it was another being. The tea took a turn, filling with happiness and true feelings.
