You’re Invited!

It’s a special day indeed, because on this day is a party. Parties are wonderful. This party may last forever, it may only last a night, but no matter how long it lasts you’re here now. And that’s all that matters.

The music? Electroswing with intermittent electronica and dubstep.

The place? Here.

The time? Now.

In a quad among four dilapidated buildings with a red sky of blight and lightening above you and the creepy sentinel of a distant-yet-close clock tower, which glows gold brightly in the overcast day, if it weren’t for the party it would look like the end of the world.

Even with the party, it might be the end of the world.

There’s graffiti everywhere, from “Sam waz here” to more disturbing “They left me in the hall of echoes” and other various tidbits from the outspoken with spray paint cans. Windows are busted and boarded and “KEEP OUT” signs are posted on the doors. That never stopped anyone. Various speakers and blinking lights hang from the very windows that could only be set up from inside, curtains wave in tatters from the windows, and the breeze blowing the red storm above has given the buildings a nasty habit of whistling and howling.

But the speakers and lights pulse the beat, and the strange and eccentric guests stomp their feet.

And the clock tower shines its terrible eye, like the judgment of a psychotic wallflower, on the guests below.

THIS IS THE SDRP WALK-IN REVIVAL PARTY!

It’s run by your rather twisted host, Jikial (Here playing the character Edward P. Tuttle), in a rather twisted location, as befits his temperament.

You are encouraged to join and mingle, and while there are no outstanding events, the host would like you to know that you’re free to explore this grand and open place and he will be…ecstatic…to accommodate you.

However, be warned, no matter how fantastic a creature you are, or what powers you think you have, on these grounds you are no more than a mere human and the only thing that stays with you is your physical capabilities. If it is not fueled by mystics and magics then there is nothing your host can do about it, but if it is, it doesn’t work here. At all. Period.

Please sign the guestbook before interacting with the other guests.

Feel free to wander off the beaten paths.

And please, stay away from the clock tower.

"Let's begin."

A lanky tuxedo-clad gentleman stepped upon the stage and tipped his hat to the crowd of faceless nobodies, then gave in to more elaborate, graceful, bow. When he righted himself, he smiled out into the red-tinted courtyard and brought the microphone close to his lips.

"Hello, out there."

He cleared his throat.

"I am Edward, but you may call me Ed. This is where I live!" he spread his arms and turned, indicating the full grounds around him. "And this, is our party."

"Drinks and food will, float around," a boyish giggle from our host, "and any questions you may have can either be asked to me in person, or written in our guestbook."

His smile, warm yet sinister in the pulsating lights and the distant bass of thunder, grew wide, "stay as long as you like, there's more to do than meets the eye."

And with that, the party began.

Jacklyn Frost smiled mischievously at her host. "More than meets the eye huh..." She muttered. There was nothing more thrilling than a mystery, and a mystery host just made it more interesting. She stroked her chin, musing about her host.

Al trudged through the crowd heavily. He was bumped and jostled by the other party-goers, but was undistracted, continuing to mutter something to himself about futility. How did he even get here? That wasn't important though, because 10 years of experience, he had, but what did he have to show for it?

"NOTHING!" He wailed loudly, startling some nearby guests. Al threw his hands up defeatedly, only to unintentionally to have one of his hands grab a pastry off a passing tray. It was a large butter tart. The corners of his frown twitched; he loved butter tarts. Was he going to forget what they were too?

Finding a suitable location on the ground, he collapsed almost comically and curled up into a fetal position, only to fall on his side. He didn't care too much though, because despite 10 years of experience, what did he have to show for it?

"NOTHING!" He wailed again, beginning to nibble away at the flaky crust of his butter tart morosely.

Sassie clapped as the host made the announcement for the party. It was one she had been anticipating for awhile now. She had kept in the shadows hoping secretly everything would be revived again. It was one of her favorite spots.

The place had quite a turn out, Valerie noted as she peered over her rediculously large tome. She had brought the behemouth "just in case". (In case she was able to slip away to finish the latest installment of her favorite series, that is.)

The friend who had brought her out here had disappeared almost immediately upon seeing some other more lively companions.

Just great, she thought to herself. Now what?

As she took her seat next to the clock tower (trying her very best to ignore the entire situation), she noticed a young man mumbling nearby while eating a butter tart.

"It's probably not poisoned," she offered somewhat encouragingly, her face twisted into a forced, reassuring smile.

The host simply nodded at the girl who spoke to him, the pulled down his hat over himself, until there was just his top hat on the ground.

The music started, electroswing, and the Faceless Nobodies began to dance.

From the speakers the host's voice came, "Mingle! Mingle! Have some punch, or a burger, and dance the night away!"

One of the FN's added, in much the same voice in the host, "...whenever that might be."

Ashe looked around the party, it seemed that she wasn't too late. She slipped in and tried to hug the wall, looking for some food to make it's way near her. She did spot someone with a large book and wove her way over. "...Hello...I couldn't help but notice the book...May I ask what it's call? Is it good?"

Valerie all but dropped the book when she heard the question asked seemingly out of nowhere. It was absurd that she could be caught off guard in a setting this noisy, but here it was happening all the same.

With a steady hand, she self-consciously smoothed her hair and met eyes with her new aquainence.

"Hey," she mustered up," It's a high fantasy novel about magic and dragons and lost kingdoms. Completely fictitious, but it's my guilty pleasure. However, one doesn't normally find a fellow bibliophile at these...functions. What brings you out tonight?"

Carousel rolls up in style, an performance, nothing shy of an action movie, without all of the explosions. Coming from 110 to 0 in a mere few seconds and drifting in between two cars to get the parking spot before the guy behind him, or perhaps just to show off his skill, the folf makes a deft maneuver like he had done it a hundred times before. Hard rock blared from the satellite radio in his car and suddenly felt silent once he shut the car off and stepped out. He had been invited to a party, and that was something he didn't actually expect to go to. Either way he climbed out of his car, stretched and shut the door quietly behind him.

The folf was wearing a black suit, which contrasted his fur and matched his hair. He locked his car as he walked toward the gate to get to the party. It seemed he had showed up a bit late, but that was alright. His tail swayed from side to side as he peeked around taking in the details of his environment out of sheer training. He wasn't quite sure what was going on, but at the very least it sounded like rave music... certainly fitting for a party. He made his way to the table to the refreshment table to get some punch, avoiding many of the party goers.

Ashe smiled, "I normally don't come to large parties, but I figured it would be nice to get out for once." She looked down at the book, "I haven't read a high fantasy novel in ages...."

She blinked, "Oh! How rude of me." She slapped herself and held out her hand, "I'm Ashe."

"Neither do I," Valerie confided as she shook Ashe's hand.

As she dropped her hand unceremoniously, Val took a quick look around. The guests seemed completely mad as they threw themselves into the music, dancing the night away. She shook her head in an attempt to clear it of the noise - both visual and actual, before turning back to Ashe.

"Why now?" she asked, gesturing toward the crowds. In a lower voice, she questioned, "And why does that guy look look like he's lost it?" She looked meaningfully at the gentleman eating a butter tart on the quad.

The night was still young, and the stars shining brightly, when a figure faded into existence within the shadow of the great estate. He held one palm on the surface of his open, leather-bound book as he examined his surroundings. A wave of heat struck him in stark contrast to the bitter winter he had apparently just come from: patches of dry snow and frost dotted his otherwise dark attire, from boot to navel. The crow that sat perched atop his shoulder cawed through the shadow, but the man ignored it. After shaking off a few dozen flakes from his jacket, and securing the staff on his back, he approached the staircase leading up to the grand entrance.

Just in case the host didn't like animals in his open house, the figure reached into his jacket and removed something, which he fed to the bird while whispering something in its ear. In response, the bird flew off and perched atop the roof. His next goal was to kick most of the snow off his boots, though he was only somewhat successful. The last thing he needed to do was track a puddle into the building with him. So, with that in mind, he entered and tried to stay off to the side. When he saw the crowd of dancers in what he assumed to be a ballroom of sorts, he mumbled something to himself and tried to stay near the edge of the room with the least people... at least until he dried off.

Who to approach first, and what to say, were the only unsettled questions in his mind.

Ashe looked over at the person and tilted her head. "...I don't know...He does seem a bit off his rocker though..."

She noticed a lot more people coming in and mingle about.
