Name: Malta, MD
Gender: Female
Age: 27
Job: Doctor
Personality:
Malta is shy and highly insecure about herself and what she does. She constantly thinks she is doing the wrong thing, and is easily cowed by dominant personalities. She is especially sensitive about her appearance, and is continually convinced that she is fat and ugly.
She is actually very good at her job, and on some level she knows this. But Poecileth has to constantly remind her and comfort her. Without Poecileth, it is doubtful that she would have amounted to anything despite her intelligence.
She does like people, and nice people will get an unassuming and pleasant person in return. She is gentle and sweet, giving her a great bedside manner. She is also mildly optimistic- she believes good things will happen eventually, and that nobody is completely bad.
But this optimism is fragile and she is not mentally strong. Bad things upset and frighten her and make her question her optimism.
She tends to latch onto people and take them on as protectors. Nobody can beat Poecileth, however. The two share a bond that nobody else can match.

Name: Poecileth
Gender: Female
Age: 14 (Adult for her)
Job: Professional Mediator
Personality:
Poecileth may be a dragon, but she isn't the sort of dragon that razes cities and such. For one thing, she isn't big enough. But that really isnt who she is.
Poecileth would rather talk than fight. She hates conflict- she feels that if only people would get along, then things would all work out. But in a city like the Imaginarium Complex, everybody is different and conflicts keep happening. While frustrating, Poecileth feels it is her sacred duty to sort things out so that the city can remain peaceful and harmonious.
Her willingness to avoid conflict doesn't mean that she will back down from a fight. She will protect anybody that needs protecting against a larger force than themselves, and Malta is her number 1 priority.
That doesn't mean she will use her own teeth or claws. Its just not her style. Instead, she cultivates relationships with larger, stronger creatures and powerful entities, political or otherwise, that she can call in to help her.
She is a great politician, cunning and canny, but generally pleasant to work with.
She tends to remain calm, even when she is upset. She simply runs cool, though she may get an edge to her voice when she is really unhappy. She's sturdy and possesses a deep well of inner strength that she draws upon when her patience is tried.
'Silk over steel' describes Poecileth well.

User Image Malta was an oft-bullied shy child who grew up in one of the human cities. Often sick and very unassertive, her grades in school were continuously low. Her self esteem was lower, and she was miserable.
At 12, though, all this changed. An Empath dragon family came into her neighborhood looking for suitable minds to present to their hatchlings and they found her. After some negotiation (and probably some cheating) Malta's parents let her go with them.
When Poecileth hatched and was named by her parents, she bonded right to the scared and nervous little Malta, becoming her protector and confidant.

Bolstered by Poecileth's endless strength and confidence, Malta did better in school and eventually went on to med school. While doing a residency in a hospital in her home city, an extradimensional portal opened just outside and emmissaries from the Dreamery companies came scouting for new guardians and for new talented hires.
Poecileth was interested and sent in applications for both of them.
They were both accepted to their respective jobs and proceeded to move to the city, where they have stayed ever since.

User ImageNotes:
Poecileth is a dragon, but she's a special dragon. Here is a list of what she is, her abilities, and other things.
I should mention that Malta and Poe are Pern OCs that I am de-pernifying.

World: Malta and Poecileth are from a world where many types of dragons (Primarily D&D sorts of dragons of many varieties) are common and coexist with magical, nonmagical, and semimagical creatures as well as humans and elves. Humans cannot use magic, but Elves can. Elves have created a sorcerous society, while humans have a very modern level of technology. Currently, the numerous human and elven nations are in a time of relative peace, so magitech- a collaborative effort between the two- is on the rise.

Type of Dragon: Poecileth is an Empathic Dragon.
They are smooth-skinned (not heavily scaled) and omnivorous, although they clearly used to be carnivorous previously in their evolutionary history. Proportionally to other carnivorous dragons on their world, they have smaller claws and teeth, as well as a chewing surface at the back of their mouths. They still have a nasty claw and bite.
They are sleekly built, about 18-30 ft in size, with powerful wings. Their tails are long and slender, tapering to a forked point, and they have smooth protohorns protruding from their head.
Their eyes are very large and luminous and change color based on mood. General mood-color key: Calm/happy= Green or Blue, Yellow=Upset Orange=Hungry, Orange/red= Aggressive, Red=Angry, Purple=lustful, Light Grey=Emotionally tired, Dark Grey= Depressed, Black=Emotionally Overwhelmed, White=Terrified
Skin coloration runs from light green, through green, teal and blue, to yellow, and tan and orange. Patterns are occasional and usually subtle (Pecileth's blaze is an exception) and occasionally there is iridescence.
They are primarily diurnal, and their brains are proportionally larger than similarly built dragons. They are of human or elf intelligence, but have very strong emotions and mental abilities.
Because of this, they do best when bonded to another intelligent, emoting creature out of the egg, which helps them develop properly. The bond is for life. If a bonded partner dies, depression can set in, as well as other emotional problems. Suicides after a bondmate has died is common for both Empathic Dragon and Bondmate, especially if there is a lack of emotional support available. A new bond can be taken under rare circumstances. Hatchlings without a sentient mind to attach to (dragon, human, elf, etc) often die.
Because of the importance of this bond and of community support, the parents of a clutch close to hatching (and their friends and family) will seek out a group of willing and suitable minds for their clutch. This is not limited by species- Empath dragons have been known to bond to other types of dragons, even Fae. Bonding to other empath dragons is possible, but not encouraged and unlikely since hatchlings cannot bond to other hatchlings and more than one active bond is not possible for a bonded pair (so its unlikely that an adult empath or their bond would be able to bond).

Abilities:

What Poe can do:
Speak Telepathically both broad-spectrum and individually. Eavesdropping can occur from minds near her target, however, if she is too loud.
Project emotions in a range around her
Detect vague surface thoughts (Vague intent and emotions)
Cast mind-effecting magic: including illusions, mood-effecting spells, mild hypnosis, and buff-type spells
Fly

With Malta- her bondmate- she can read all of Malta's thoughts if Malta allows her and can speak privately at any distance without fear of eavesdropping. This is a two-way connection, and Poecileth can block off thoughts. They know where each other is at any time (as long as they are concious), as well as whether they are alive, unconscious, sick, or injured. Pain is shared, as are strong emotions.

What Poe cannot do:
Breathe fire or any other substance. She can spit, but its just spit.
Read the nonsurface thoughts of anybody who isn't Malta, or get a clear idea of what they are up to
Hide her emotions
Teleport
Frenzy/Lose control
Gain anything from a hoard
Shapeshift
Harm her Bondmate

In general, Empath dragons are adverse to violence and harm, but some revel in it and in negative emotions. This is heavily influenced by their bondmate, or their first bondmate if they have been unbonded.
