 Deep beneath the barracks of Squad 5 lie the Sekkiseki Caverns, one of the few remaining locations in Soul Society where the Reiryoku-repelling mineral is still present in its unrefined form. While not known to most members of the 5th Division, the higher ranking Shinigami occasionally make use of it to practice high level Kidō, or to fully unleash the powers of their Zanpakutō, as the Sekkiseki can repel most of the power and severely reduce the destruction unleashed by such training. However, as the Sekkiseki saps the energy of those in close proximity, most Shinigami only train within the Caverns for short periods of time.

Captain of Squad 5 Reiatsu raged around Amaranth as she stood in the center of the cavern, shards of Sekkiseki shaking on the ground from the sheer pressure, but otherwise the strange mineral repelled the power, causing it to loop back over itself and crackle in the cold air. With somewhat haggard breathing, she brought her pale hands together yet again, losing track of how often she had done so in the past several hours, and watched as an icy blue glow formed in the air around them. Two lines of the incantation had been finalised, two nonsensical lines that somehow aided the mind in directing and melding the flow of reiatsu, but one more was still needed. As it was, the ability would only freeze upon contact with the hands, something blatantly indicated by the numerous hand prints frozen into the dust, to have any use at all, however, it needed to spread.
She had already narrowed down the possibilities, preferring to work out all of the theory behind the new Junshin technique before moving it to the experimental stages, but there was still some refinement required. Muttering one possible phrase, twisting her reiatsu in the desired direction and into a more refined form, Amaranth cursed softly as the light gathered for a moment, and then lanced outwards, streaks of frozen reiatsu surging out in random directions, leaving frosty trails in their wake, forming a lattice of iced energy between two of the cavern's columns.
Pulling her hands back from the frozen reiatsu web, Amaranth waved her hand towards the failed Kido, sending the ethereal chains of her Shikai flying into it to reabsorb some of the reiatsu. With her breathing steadied a little, but still showing some sign of strain, the plump captain returned the chains to her arm, once again glad that her Shikai was allowing her to remain in the Sekkiseki Caverns for far longer than any other person. If not for the ability to drain the reiatsu back into her body, the repeated use of Junshin abilities within the Cavern would have exhausted her energy long ago.
Several attempts later, and now panting despite the ability to restore her reiatsu, the Kido Commander was down to the last line set aside for the incantation, everything else had led to random bursts of energy or fluctuating power. Moving to another section of the Cavern, one that wasn't covered in twisted pieces of frozen reiatsu, Amaranth raised her hands again, and began the incantation, "Memories of ice, dust of dreams, a race in exile, a world without seams. " The air around her hands started to glow, a slight chill emanating from them. "Contain the realms, withhold all sprains, preserve the elms, and wrap in chains." Motes of frozen reiatsu forced their way into existence, orbiting the space in front of the palms.
Taking a deep breath, the purple eyed Shinigami incanted the final phrase, "Imprison the hero, in absolute zero", and tried to command the reiatsu one last time, resulting in a brilliant sheen that spread outwards from her palms, freezing a plane of dust-filled air before Amaranth cut off the Kido. Breathing a sigh of relief, she settled down to the ground with a thump, aiming to catch her breath before returning to her office to finalise the notes.

Sasuke entered the cave and his eyes widened with wonder as this place always seemed to look more and more beautiful. He continued following his Captain's Reitsu signature until he could see her and he watched her develop a new Kido and could not believe his eyes by the power she held and could create. Once she finished he approached her. " Mistress, sorry to disturb you, but I believe I may have tapped into a new form of Kido that enhances the body. I don't have much control of it and can't hold it for very long, but so far I have gotten it to produce flight and increase my hand to hand attacks and defense. I think it might be able to clash with a zanpaktuo, but I don't know. I will show you and you can give me your thoughts."Sasuke began releasing his Reitsu safely to not effect his Captain. Once he let out enough he used the release word of Kondensu an his Reitsu rushed into him an his body began to glow a bright blue and every part of him was covered in a thick, transparent layer of Reitsu. He then began to hover and waited for his Captain to give her thoughts.

Kido Corps. Commander Hearing the footsteps echoing throughout the cavern, and feeling the Reiatsu easily in the place otherwise devoid of it, Amaranth detected Sasuke's presence long before he entered her sight. Standing up shortly before he turned around the final corner, Amaranth brushed the dust and dirt off her clothing and then focused her gaze on her Lieutenant as he entered. Tilting her head as Sasuke mentioned a Kido that amplified one's abilities and added some new capabilities, thinking about the potential applications for it even after the slight mention, she gestured with a pale hand, motioning for him to continue on with his example.
"Now... that is interesting. You have flooded your body with reiatsu, and the sheer intensity of it is forcing you into the air. A focused release to the point where it is visible. And, from what you say, it boosts your physical prowess. Impressive..." With a slight smile, the redhaired Shinigami said "Let's test it," then raised her right hand and incanted "Bakudo #62: hyapporankan."
A rod of reiatsu flared into existence, lunching forwards from the outstretched palm, splitting into a multitude of similar Bordeaux beams and hurtling towards the Lieutenant. The Kido, designed to pin the target to a surface, was extremely difficult to dodge from such a range, and as such, was a perfect tool to test the extent of this new power. Gan'yū Status

Sasuke thought over the Captain's words. A flood of Reitsu, that felt right, but there felt like there was more to it. As she mentioned testing it, Sasuke returned to the ground and took a deep breath to prepare himself. As she said the binding Kido, Sasuke's mind began to flood trying to think of ways to dodge or counter this. The Kido was about to hit him and Sasuke was still thinking, but his body reacted on instinct. He crouched down and and lift one arm over his front as if he had a shield. The rods his Sasuke, but then went bouncing away as if deflected and then Sasuke stood up and one last straggler was heading at him and for some reason he thought it smart to punch the front of the rod which worked and caused it to shatter. On Sasuke's other arm witch he shielded with was a shield made of what looked like glass, but was really and intensified Kido made shield which could block Reitsu based attacks. The shield dissipated and he looked at his Captain as his eyes widened. "I am not sure how I did that, my body just reacted, no incantation or anything. This discovery seems like no
Other Kido ability we have ever discovered."

Kido Corps. Commander Tilting her head thoughtfully, Amaranth watched as the level 60 Kido was deflected, seemingly repelled by the concentrated reiryoku that shrouded Sasuke's body. As the main flurry of rods were deflected, hurtling into the walls of the cavern and dissipating as they struck the Sekkiseki, Amaranth's eyes widened slightly, watching as a simple punch, empowered by the Kido, was enough to break part of her Bakudo ability.
Stepping towards her Lieutenant, and then moving around him to see if the Kido showed any noticeable signs from other angles, the plump Captain began to question Sasuke once more, seeking to pry everything he had discovered about the new Kido free, "How long can you hold it for? What happens if you use Kido while in that state? Can you use Kido in that state? Beyond physical enhancement, does it do anything else? Can you release your Zanpakuto in that state?"
Pausing as she realised just how torrential the flow of questions had been, the pale Shinigami shook her head and then spoke again, "Disregard those, just explain how you do it, go over the basics, and then I will test it myself. It will be much easier that way." Gan'yū Status

Sasuke's eyes widened at the onslaught of questions and his breathing seemed heavy and sweat fell down his face. He began to speak and as he did, the aura began to flicker and then drop. " Well I can't hold it long.... See, point proven. As to how I did it that is tricky to explain. Basically Kido and Kido incantations are really things that take the bodies' Reitsu to create an attack. I simply release my Reitsu and commanded it to condense and the word was strong enough that it did that to my body. It is a Kido, but at the same time it isn't. It is like a zanpaktuo release, but for the body. I haven't much test in it due to not being able to hold it long enough. I assume you can release your zanpaktuo in that state, but I am not sure the outcome. If my research is correct, if used properly this could be used with other kudos to make them so powerful that you don't need incantations to use them at full strength. I believe this discovery will make Kido users rise to a new level. I want to show Anya, I am sure she could help us unlock this power."

Kido Corps. Commander Watching closely as the aura around Sasuke flickered and then vanished, waiting for a moment to see if there was any followup, Amaranth nodded slightly. The reiryoku seemed to loop around, making it a contained and sustained technique, rather than one which just constantly poured out energy. For it to be created by simply releasing and condensing energy, experience with Kido would definitely be required to master it. The technique did not seem like one which would be utilized by novices, but rather restricted to the few Shinigami who actually practice with Kido.
"We definitely need to look into this further. I'll just finish up here, and then I'll return to my office and see if I can turn the information we have into some workable theory." As she spoke, the red haired captain moved around the cavern, placing her hands on the remnants of her Junshin practice, and dispelling them, "If we can work out the underlying concepts and figure out just what this does, we should have a better chance of controlling it." Sasuke listened intently to his Captain talk about mastering it and her plans. Sasuke was so excited. His older brother created and developed the sword and shield group. Now Sasuke had something to bring honour to his family. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a small, but fat leather journal and handed it to her. "This journal holds all the research I had done for a few years prior to this. If we can master this discovery, this may be highly effective against the Rouges if a second war begins.Sasuke shuttered at the mention of a second war. It haunted him at night to think the Rouges were back and even stronger. He heard one took on the Head Captain single handily and another one unleashed a golem that almost destroyed a quarter of the soul society."I am going to go and practice with this some more. Maybe also find someone who can help me strengthen my hand to hand combat some more. I'll only be a hell butterfly away if you need me. Or use a Kido." With that, Sasuke bowed and shunpo'd away.

Kido Corps. Commander Taking the offered journal, Amaranth briefly flicked through it, glancing at some of the notes before closing it, and slipping the book into one of her pouches. Merely nodding in response to Sasuke's comments, Amaranth waited for him to leave and then finished clearing up the larger ice structures within the cavern. As various thoughts flashed through her mind, ways in which the Kido release could be utilize, managed and ordered, the Captain of Squad 5 walked out of the cavern, resealing the exit with a basic Kido spell as she did so. Once she had exited the cavern, slowly exiting the labyrinthine passages around the entrance and finally stepping into the open air near the Kido Corps Headquarters, Amaranth glanced at the sky and sighed, she had lost track of time while playing around with Kido, again. Turning to face the First Division barracks, the plump Shinigami used Shunpo, quickly making her way to yet another meeting. [[Exit to The Royal Council RoomGan'yū Status
