Personal ItemsPersonal Items are unique, magical items that can be assigned to a specific character. Personal Items should be designed by their player and have some relevance or importance to their character’s plots, development, or goals. Personal Items offer a magical ability that would not otherwise be possible for the character to perform without it. A personal item cannot offer an offensive advantage in battle, nor can they be used during battle. These items are specifically for plot purposes and may range greatly in use or function, but all Personal Items must be approved through the shop mule, The Space Cauldron, and must be ICly earned through plots.
Characters can have multiple Personal Items; these are unlike IC RP Items in many ways. IC RP Items are most often given out during events and are distributed to multiple characters; they have broader abilities and are able to be found by any participating character. Personal Items cannot be mass produced in the same way and must be earned through plot; they cannot be shared with other characters or given out freely.
Any character can obtain Personal Items, however they are more available to powered characters. Personal Items can be any non-battle item that is magical in nature, and can be found (typically outside of Destiny City and at Wonders, Celestial Bodies, in Mirrorspace, or in Negaspace) or created using magical means (such as through Mauvian influence or using magical tools or completing rituals at locations that have significant magical resources (such as the above listed locations). Characters can have multiple personal items, but we must ask that players consider the impact of their items before attempting to introduce them to play. A character who has multiple items that can impact gameplay may have to adjust power levels of future items before bringing them into play to maintain equality across the board. Personal Items may overlap in function but each item should be somehow unique to the character, and the character must undergo a plot to earn it.
Personal Items can appear on character art after the item and plot are approved, and after the plot has been ICly completed.
Personal items can range from something like an Energy Bag of Holding, that does not offer any boosts in battle but might give the additional function of allowing a Negaverse agent to collect more energy at one time before needing to return to Negaspace to deposit it, or they may be something smaller, like a magical charm found on a Homeworld that emits a small, glowing light. Any magical object that is intended to come into play requires approval, no matter how trivial the magic may seem.

Personal Item RulesWhile Personal Items can come in many shapes and forms, there are a few things to keep in mind when creating and acquiring them:
Because there are such a variety of options, it is impossible to clearly outline what might be approvable. We will always work with players to try and approve an item and their plot to acquire it, but we ask that players be prepared to adjust things based on staff feedback.
Personal Items cannot be used in battle. While you may request an item capable of magical healing, it should only be usable after a battle and cannot be used while a battle is occurring.
Personal Items should not easily be mistaken for weapons, as they can appear on art. They cannot be used as weapons in battle. Personal Items do not have to appear on art, but the player may choose to include them on their art.
Characters may have multiple Personal Items but players need to keep in mind that these items cannot tip the scales of fair gameplay. Personal Items are best when used towards achieving character goals, to memorialize meaningful interactions or exchanges, or to represent important accomplishments in their lives.
Personal Items should not appear to be Wands or Banners; items of this nature are reserved for Court and Brigade Captains. Wands and Banners cannot appear on artwork.
Personal Items can evolve over time if you decide you want to change the function or form of a previously approved item. This will need shop approval and an IC explanation or plot, but staff will work with players for this.
All Personal Items must be approved before they can be introduced to gameplay. There are two stages to the approval process; once an item and plot are approved, they will go on the below Approved list; once the plot has been completed and the item is ICly acquired, it will be moved to the below Acquired list.
Personal Items may overlap, either in magic, design, or other function. Players are encouraged to do their best to create items that are somehow unique to their characters, even if certain aspects overlap with other characters. Players are asked to keep in mind that if their item is approved, other items of a similar nature may be approved for other players as well.
Because these items are earned through RP and plotting, it is unlikely that first stage characters will have the potential to unlock powerful or incredibly useful Personal Items. This does not mean they cannot earn or receive them, as these items may still be gifted to them from other characters, created for them, or found on Wonders, Homeworlds, in Mirrorspace, or in Negaspace. However, it means that players may be encouraged to grow their character to a more powerful rank before acquiring more powerful items. Personal Items with limited magical function (such as a charm that glows) may not require as much legwork to obtain, and may be earnable at first stage. If you are unsure if an item can be achieved at your character’s current rank, please feel free to ask and staff will work with you!

Earning a Personal ItemTo obtain a Personal Item, a player needs to submit the following form to The Space Cauldron! In the event that a Personal Item cannot be approved as is, the staff will work with a player to adjust the item or plot to be within approvable guidelines.
Form:
Player Username: (Please include your name here) Character: (Please include the name of your character here as well as a link to their journal. Journals should be as updated as possible prior to sending in a Personal Item request!) Item Requested: Physical Description: (What does the item look like? Please keep in mind that it cannot appear to be a Wand, Banner, or an item that otherwise appears to be a weapon. Articles of clothing that can easily pass as belonging to another faction are discouraged, but can be approved through the proper plot. Personal Items are typically either wearable or easy to hold) Magic: (What benefit, boost, or magical ability does this item have? If the item is technological in nature, such as something created by a Mauvian, please describe what it can do! If the item is meant to channel some sort of magical ability, please give as much information as possible. If it is meant to glow, please indicate intensity and for how long, if it is meant to heal someone, please indicate how much, how often, and on how many targets; items that have a greater impact will need to have more restrictions and limitations, such as cooldowns) Purpose: (What purpose will this item serve? How will it be used? Why does your character want and need this? If you have specific RPs done that directly influence your reasoning, please link here!) Plot: (How will your character acquire this item? Is it something they find? Is it something they make? Is it a gift, or a collaboration with another character? Please include all relevant information for how this item will be obtained. Some items may require more intensive plots than others; for an item like a glowing charm, this may be found simply by having a past life memory while visiting their homeworld, even at first stage; an item that grants more abilities or has more benefits may require a more intensive plot, and may require the character be at least second stage)

FAQWhat forms can personal items take? What forms can’t they take?
Personal Items can take on nearly any form as long as they are something that can be reasonably worn or held. They should not be something that can be weaponized or used in battle, and should ideally not be confused with a required article of clothing that is part of a faction specific uniform guideline. These items can be based on new, modern day things (like remotes, pocket computers, or other technological gadgets) or ancient things (such as those that could have been found a thousand years ago). These items might have sci-fi style magic or be fantasy based. Would it be possible to transform a previously mundane article of powered clothing into a Personal Item?
Yes! Through Mauvian experimentation, completing rituals on homeworlds or wonders, interacting with something strange in Mirrorspace or Negaspace, through magical empowering, or through another plotted method, it would be possible for a character to discover something magical about, or create an enhancement, for an item that is already in their possession. What happens to a Personal Item if the character side swaps?
This is entirely dependent on the item’s capabilities as well as player choice; this should be discussed during side swaps. Some items, especially those geared towards a function based on the character’s current faction or alignment, will not work if the character swaps sides. If the item offers a standard boost, it should be expected that the magic stays the same, however. The item may change appearance or function when side swapping, or adapt to adjust to the current faction. Characters do not need to lose the item unless the player ICly wants them to, otherwise items can be modified to fit the current faction, or otherwise stay the same, depending on the item. Can canon magical items, like Sailor Moon’s Disguise Pen, be created as a Personal Item?
We always advise extreme caution in referencing canon magical items for Personal Items; many of the magical items that exist in canon would be overpowered if they existed in our universe. Instead of one character having access to something with that ability, it could be hundreds of characters. The items that existed in canon were typically very powerful and might have served unique plot points. Items like Sailor Moon’s Disguise Pen might have the potential to cause game breaking elements if released without limitations. Players can always ask or request an item be considered, but will need to consider that anything the shop approves for them, they would need to be willing to approve for everyone as well. Do Rainbow Crystals count for Personal Items?
No; Rainbow Crystals were given out prior to the release of Personal Items and have battle properties; they served a unique purpose and were part of a specific plot. The characters that were in possession of a Rainbow Crystals may or may not still have them, however have been encouraged to swap them for new, updated items to be discussed with the Shop Mule. Players who owned a Rainbow Crystal do not have to swap them, however they should be aware that the shop will not be doing anything with them.
