✦ People of Magesc ✦ Alright, so to start getting used to Magesc there are a few things that are essential; your character and the world! The world is a fantasy magic and medieval based world with some steam-punk bits in the Orderite Cities so please keep that in mind when thinking about what character you want. There are several main races that you will be playing or interacting with a lot.
The first and most important thing to any prospective owner (aside from the world of Magesc) is the race of your character! It sets the stage for where they begin their journey and gives you a place to start figuring out their personality.
» races Orderites: The residents of Serenia. These guys have wings, consider themselves the "good guys" of Magesc, and have an angelic or steampunk style to them. Their coloration is bright and can be anything from blue, pink, green, purple, you name it! They are always pastel or light in color. The Oblivionites are their racial enemy. This post has all the in-depth detail you'll need to know about them! Feel free to not have an angelic or steam punk theme. That is fine, these are guidelines, not iron clad rules!
Oblivionites: The residents of Soudul. These guys have no eyes, no soul, and think of themselves as "weapons" for their Goddess Soudana. They have see only in shades of grey until their final stage and have a physically dark coloration. Nothing bright or light about them unless its makeup. They consider the Orderites their racial enemy. This post has all the in-depth detail you'll need to know about them! Feel free to not have an assassin or gothic punk theme! That is fine, these are guidelines, not iron clad rules!
Dovaa: The fence sitters of Magesc in the Celestial Plane. Their god decided that he wanted no part of his sisters' war and created a separate universal plane for them to dwell on. The portal to this plane is in the middle of the ocean with a small floating dock that contains just enough room for people to load and unload as well as a guard station. The dovaa are draconic; they have horns, scaled patches and more human-like colors. They start out with lavender eyes until they choose a dragon clan, at which point their eyes (and possibly scales, hair and horns) match the coloration of their clan. A Dovaa can choose any clan except Aeduan or Diabi (which are reserved for Orderite and Oblivionite Mages or Khehora). Whether a Dovaa supports the Orderites or Oblivionites is up to the individual. This post has all the in-depth detail you'll need to know about them! Feel free to change up the style a bit. That is fine, these are guidelines, not iron clad rules! Hybrids: They are a combination of any of the races. These guys are poor souls who aren't truly welcome in most locations and parents who have hybrid children will often get banished along with their hybrid child from the land/city they came from. Their colors and features are a mix of their parents, and can either develop hideous mutations or end up with a lucky, exotic variety of genetics. This post has all the in-depth detail you'll need to know about them! They live wherever they can find shelter. They are not often found in towns or cities as Hybrids are not really welcome by the pure bloods. There is a small city called Tukyere on Eowyn that is welcoming to all, so Hybrids are allowed to dwell here and are oftentimes found here more often than not.
Khehora: Cousins of Dragons, long ago they got warped and changed by a Hybrid of great power who sought to tame the Dragons. What he ended up making was the Bond. The Bond is formed when a Magescian gets a hold of a Khehora egg. The Khehora's magic then flows out of the Khehora to the Magescian and empowers the Magescian and lessens the Khehora. A bonded Khehora does not have a lot of magic in him so he cannot breed nor cast magic like a normal Khehora. His magic will always be lesser than his more Feral siblings. Khehora look like dragons the size of a large warhorse, and they have the same clans as the Dovaa and Dragons. They are intelligent and can use the same spells as a Dovaa of the same clan. They may choose to be a Battler or a Civilian and if you end up with an egg you may decide that you want it to become bonded to your character. Khehora may only become bonded while in the egg before their hatching. Bonded Khehora do not have a Path to choose, but are basically a companion to your character who gives them a boost in battle when they are present.
All the information you need to know about the Khehora is in this thread Note: They were once called Drakeins before some changes occurred. So if we refer to a Drakein, it means Khehora. If you spot the word Drakein, please let us know so we can change it to Khehora!
Names: Race as a Whole: Khehora (kay - ora) : All are Khehora! Alihora (ali - ora) : Feathered Khehora. Nekkora (neck - ora) : Khehora with a necromatic look to them. Merkora (merk - ora) : Fish Khehora. They have no wings, but live underwater instead.
Stage Names: Orakoi (ora - koi) = baby Orakoir (ora - core) = teenager Orakovan (ora - co - van) = adult
Meanings: Ora - Dragon or Little Dragon Kheh - Land Dwelling Alih - Air Dwelling/Feathered Nekk - Death Merk - Sea Dwelling
Koi - Child Koir - Teenager Kovan - Adult
Dragons: The dragon clans are: Ysali (plant), Ayrala (wind), Kiandri (lightning), Firani (fire), Peisio (water), Aiskala (ice), Gaili (earth), Aedaun (light), Diabi (dark), and Celsetial (astral). You can't actually be a dragon, but you hunt them for their souls. When a dragon dies, it crumbles away to ash, leaving behind a Dragon Soul Orb. So no meat or bone are left behind unless you chop it off before the dragon dies. The Dovaa choose one of the dragon clans to get their powers from. Go here for more info.

✦ the paths ✦ Please read the Battler Path and the Civilian Path for more in depth information.
The paths reflect the life your character chooses to lead. They also affect your growth requirements, so keep this in mind! Battlers train either in a weapon or magic and have the capacity to hunt dragons and creatures, and battle other players. While hunting is a required part of their growth, however, it need not be the exclusive focus of their character. For instance, they may be a healer or an architect who is trained in fighting and works that job when they are not out battling others.
Civilians, contrarily, live more peaceful lives, have a job that provides a service or good, and they cannot hunt dragons or battle. A civilian may brawl a lot in bars, or go accompany a friend as they fight, but they will not be able to actively participate in the hunting or battling aspects of Magesc.
» battlers There are 4 types of Battlers: Warrior, Barbarian, Ranger/Archer, and Mage, all depending on weapon choice. The post below this will go into more detail on weapons.
Each type of battler must do the same thing: they are required to hunt creatures and dragon as well as battle others. They'll have these stats: Level, INT, DEF, ATK, EXP, and LUK. This post has more information on the stats.
To go on a hunt you need the creature or dragon's LUK stat. If it says LUK > 5 you need 5 or more LUK to even try to attack this creature. If you have 4 LUK, you cannot face it.
You roll a d100, depending on your LUK you may win or lose: >>> You start out at a 91-100 needed to be rolled to win. For each LUK greater than the required amount needed to fight the creature/dragon, you get 10 points taken off the number required. >>> So LUK 5 required means a LUK of 5 needs 91-100, LUK of 6 needs 81-100, 7 needs 71-100 and so on. The number required to wi will never fall below a 6-100! So a 1 to5 means an automatic failure against any creature!
All level's use the following to calculate EXP gains!: Win: The Opponent's Level in EXP Loss: The Opponent's Level/2 in EXP.
Decimals: 0.5 rounds up and 0.49 rounds down!
Battling other people is a more complex, and you will need to read the Battler Thread more completely to do it. Feel free to ask for help or ask for a staff member to have a spar with your character and show you how. Kadryn (robot kitten's Orderite Barbarian) or Kavanna (Brolis's Ysali Dovaa) would love to help.
Here are two different examples:
Example Hunt Ysali Dragon, Level 5, LUK > 1. You are at Level 1 with 1 LUK. You need to roll a 91-100 to win. Calculating exp gain for this fight: If you win, gain the Dragon's level in EXP. So 5 EXP gained A loss is half this rounded up. 5/2=2.5 = 3 EXP gained. To go to level 2 you need 1 exp, to go to level 3 you need 2 exp and so on.
A win will take you to Level 3 with 2 EXP left over A loss will take you to Level 3 with 0 EXP left over.
Example Hunt Kiandri Dragon, Level 25, LUK > 10. You are at Level 23 with 15 LUK. Since the Kiandri requires 10 and you have 15 LUK, you instead need to roll a 41-100 to win.
Each LUK point you are above the required LUK gives you an additional 10 numbers you can roll to win. So 1 LUK greater = 81-100; 2 LUK greater = 71-100 and so on.
Calculating exp gain for this fight: You gain the enemies Level in EXP for a win and half that for a loss. For a win: 25 EXP gained. For a Loss: 25/2= 12.5 = 13
RP's and Word counts: A Battler must write 300 words PER CREATURE they roll for in a hunt. So if you roll for 5 creatures, win or lose you must roll 5x300=1500 words! RP solo's and PRP's only need 500 words to count!
» civilian A Civilian does not have to hunt or battle others. In fact they can't. You can RP them getting into fights, but since they have no stats there is no EXP gain or loss. Since they can't hunt dragons or creatures (which gives loot) with out the hep of a Battler, we created the adventures for them. Adventures were created with Civilian's in mind so most are available to them and they are able to get Dragon Orbs without killing Dragons. This choice is for people who just don't want to fight or figure out the math of battles!
RP's and Word counts: A Civilian needs 500 words for everything! Adventures, tamings, hunts they join in on, PRPS, or Solo's. 500 for everything! Certain things, like Peddlar's Rock, state you only need to write 300 words to gain the items/meet the requirements, this is true. But if you want to count it towards growth, you will need 500 words!
Joining a Battler on a Hunt: Yes you may! You do not roll nor gain any EXP or LUK by doing so, but you do gain the same Items or Loot the Battler does is you write out 500 words in said hunt
Civilian's also have 3 choices to them: the Scholar, Craftsman, Laborer.
The Scholar is, like its name implies, focused on research and writings. They can be a librarian, writer, journalist, chronicler, researcher, psychologist, magical healers, enchanters, inscriptionists, teachers, tutors, and the jobs involving intellect over anything else. Also, among the Khehora, a Scholar would most likely be a shaman, strategist (one who thinks up ways to get around problems/win battles but not actually fight them) or other intellectual jobs as the Khehora have a primitive society.
The Craftsman, again, like its name insists, will craft things. They build and create for the rest of the world. They can be tailors, leather workers, jewelers, alchemists, blacksmiths, artists, bakers, engineers, and shop owners. Anything that involves creating/crafting.
The Laborer is the path that involves more brawn than brain. The worker bees of Magesc. They can be miners, woodcutters, fisherman, farmers, herbalists, and skinners. Most anything that would cause a person to sweat, but be rewarded with a larger pay off in the end for that hard labor.
Mages and Civilians: Yes you can be a mage and a civilian! This just means you rp out magic but do not get access to hunts or battles.A Mage civilian is like an enchanter who sells his magic or something along those lines! This is the only battler class that can be translated to Civilian.

✦ special things ✦ » imprinted weapons Orderites and Oblivionites (and hybrids of these types) get to chose an imprinted weapon. You may choose a weapon at any time during your Apprentice stage. Your weapons bonus will be given once you have completed the required RP. You must have a 500 word role play of getting your Imprinted Weapon in a solo. You may have your character find it someplace, get given it by a parent or a master, you may even have them RP meeting Arick (our shop keeper, more on him later) and buying the weapon from him. All they need is 500 words showing how they choose or are chosen by the weapon that will stick with them for the rest of their life.
The types of weapon determines the type of Battler: Warriors: These guys use blades. Swords, knives, that sort of thing. Barbarians: Mostly using blunt weapons. Maces, hammers, large axes, clubs, etc. Ranged/Archer: Mostly archers, crossbowmen(rare), slings, javelins, blow pipes, etc. Mage: These Orderites and Oblivionites use a scepter, staff, or wand and gain access to the Aeduan spells (for Orderites) and Diabi spells (for Oblivionites). The spells can be found in the Dragons thread for more information.
Each weapon gives you a special ability/bonus unique to that class you chose. Please read this to learn more information on the weapons.
However, there are other non imprinted weapons you can use! They just do not give you an attack bonus in battle unless we specify that they do. (Like a special blade of X or something). You may RP having a non imprinted weapon if you want! Dovaa may have weapons as well, just not the special Imprinted ones. These weapons you make up will just be RP tools to play with and add detail to your character's RPs. Feel free to have a character who carries an armory around with him if you want!
» Guns We allow old fashioned steam punk guns only. If you do make/obtain a gun, your character must get it from an Orderite, no matter what, only the steam punk race can actually create them, being tinkerers and all.
Guns may not be an imprinted weapon just yet, the Orderites haven't yet figured out how to imbue magic into them like other weapons. Feel free to have them though. Look at the Questions and Feedback thread for more information.
» magic Dovaa and Khehora (and hybrids that are of these races) get magic instead of weapons. Dovaa must choose a clan in a 500 word RP and Khehora are born into their clan.
Depending on their clan, they get a unique set of spells that become available depending upon their INT score. Dovaa and Khehora do not have to have a high INT if you want them to be more of a Tank (take a lot of damage) or DPS (deals physical damage) character, feel free to have a higher ATK or DEF instead! They just won't have a lot of spells like other Dovaa/Khehora do. Each clan is good against another clan and weak against another (think Pokémon!).
Read each dragon's post in the Dragons thread to see the types of magic each clan comes with. The second part of this post will also be of great use to you.
The only clan a Dovaa may not be are Diabi or Aeduan, these clans are only available for Orderite and Oblivionite Mages since these dragons were created by their individual Goddess. Khehora can be of these clans as they were created from dragons and can be of any clan.
Mage Orderites and Oblivionites are like Dovaa, though they can only use the powers of the Light and Dark Dragon clans. As a Mage (and Dovaa/Khehora) they have access to tomes and other interesting spells that other Orderites and Oblivionites do not have.
» shop The In-Game Shop: Peddlers Rock, owned by the NPC Arick Skyeforge (see NPC thread for more details). You can come in here and trade your character's items for other items, buy items with Dragon Orbs or Gaia gold. All that you have to do is fill out the form and then set up a RP with Arick and have them meet and trade! Arick will be played by a staff member, probably Brolis. As of right now: Please do not set up a PRP! Just write out a 300 word Solo of them buying or finding it somehow! They must obtain the items in a way that works (finding a lost chest in the attic, buying from a market, what ever). Post a link to the Solo in your form when you post to buy stuff.

✦ growing your character ✦
» magescians Battlers and Civilian's have different requirements. Here is the actual post for them.
Make sure you have everything completed before you post in the growth thread! Feel free to ask a staff member look over your character and see if you need anything. Don't forget the time requirement too! You must wait a set amount of time before you can grow. Also, have in mind anything you'd like for the next stage's art, particularly if anything important happened (tattoos, scars, clan choosing) that could influence your character's looks. You do not have to give the artist every little detail if you don't want to. Feel free to say, "Keep the color scheme but go all out and have fun for the rest." Most of the artists will prefer to have some freedom, so try not to box them in with a hundred requests and demands for your character's looks. You may request a different artist if the original artist is too busy or not available, but keep in mind that if the original artist is willing to take your character on, that is the artist who will handle your character's growth unless you explicitly and peacefully arrange with the artist to do otherwise or too much time lapses with them being inactive. Respect that the artists for the shop are working for free and dedicating hours of their time to your character!
» Khehora Khehora have a much simpler system of growth. Since they are line art they also have a lighter requirement load as well. This thread has the information you need to know to grow, while this post has information on the individual stages and what they Khehora will act/look like in those stages. The only difficult one is the Khehora to Khehorian growth. This is a harder one since we wish it to be a rare state. It is a stage only available to Feral Khehora and you will need dragon orbs to complete the ritual to achieve this stage! Civilians will need to go through the special ritual adventure just for them, and the battlers will have a simpler ritual since they already should have the orbs needed.
Both the rituals are shown in the examples below.
You must roll 1, 100 sided die to determine how successful the ritual truly was.
Battler's Ritual Example Battler's Ritual Equation: (1.5 * LUK Points) + (2 * Soul Orbs of YOUR Specie) + All Other Soul Orbs = Your Total Percentage
For example, lets say you're a Battler Kiandri. Your LUK is 22, you've obtained 3 Kiandri Orbs, and 16 other soul orbs. This is your equation. (1.5 * 22) + (2 * 3) + 16 = 55
He now needs to roll his 1, 100 sided die, and if the number is 55 or below, the transformation is complete and successful. Give the artist a month to create for you the final Khehorian art (though it could take more or less depending upon real life issues), and happy trails! If the number is 56-100, the transformation has failed and he must start over, gathering the orbs and going back through the Dream World. Though he gains an extra 10 LUK plus a Stat point for each orb he had (depends on type, INT: Ysali, Peisio, Aedaun :: ATK: Firani, Kiandri, Diabi :: DEF: Ayrala, Aiskala, Gaili.)
The Ritual, for Battlers, will be a 1500 word solo posted in their journal, or a PRP with one of the NPC Khehorians.
Civilian's Ritual Example Civilian's Ritual Equation: 10 (base points) + (5 * Soul Orbs of YOUR Specie) + (3* All Other Soul Orbs) +(10*Celestial Orbs) = Your Total Percentage
3 Points for any non-specie orb. 5 Points for every orb of your same specie, and 10 Points for every Celestial Orb. So here's what one Peisio Civilian has collected and what the total comes out to:
2 Ysali, 3 Ayrala, 4 Firani, 3 Peisio, 2 Aedaun, 1 Celestial
6 + 9 + 12 + 15 + 6 + 10 = 58 +10 base= 68
He now needs to roll his 1, 100 sided die, and if the number is 68 or below, the transformation is complete and successful. Give the artist a month to create for you the final Khehorian art (though it could take more or less depending upon real life issues), and happy trails! If the number is 69-100, the transformation has failed and he must start over, gathering the orbs and going back through the Dream World. Though he gains an extra 15 points to add to the initial 10 for every failed transformation
The Ritual, for Civilian's, will be at least a 1500 word response to the Adventure written up for them.
» additional information Make sure all dragon/creature hunts done alone have 300 words for each creature you are battling! If you wish to face multiple creatures at once, just roll a die for each creature you are going to face and make sure the RP has 300 words PER creature. So if you wish to face 3 dragons, roll 3 dice and have a 900 word RP.
If you are going to do a dragon/creature battle with someone, you must instead have 500 words per person!
All PRP's and Solo's must be 500 words to count towards growth. If you have 4 people in a massive ORP/PRP than each person must have 500 words to allow this RP to count.
Journal reflections do not need to be long. They are just where you will link your PRP and hunts in a post and have a small blurb on your characters reaction to the hunt/RP. It is like a diary entry for your character.
✦ getting characters ✦
» Customs Month We have 3 Custom months per year: April, August and December. During this time those with quests apply for critiques and approval. Once approved they apply for an Artists slot. Quest Forum is here, please read this for more information on making a quest and for prices!
Only staff approved Quests will be allowed to apply for a slot. To be eligible for a slot, you must first have a quest that has been critiqued and approved! Post the Critique/Approval form below to get a Staffers Attention! To those who have Characters already: You must have all your characters at Adept or above and be active and rp-ing with them to be eligible for another character!
All Artists retain the right to say no to any quest that they do not wish to draw. So even if you are the only one to apply for an artist, it is not a guaranteed slot! The more effort you put into your quest to make it detailed and interesting, the more likely you are to be picked. They will be the ones picking from the quests that request them, Staff have no word on the matter of who gets picked.
All official Rules will be posted in a thread when we open customs! Thread may be the Main thread or in a Guild thread depending. Prices are located in the Quest Forum
» Premades We hold events through out the year where premade art is given away in a variety of events! After you win one, we create a thread for you and you get to make a character! You may receive a PM if you've created a character that does not fit into our world or needs editing though this is very rare as a lot of our events are designed to have you actually already have some idea on what the character will be like. These are a much cheaper option!
✦ breeding ✦ Breeding occurs during Customs month!
» magescians Bare Basics are these: Characters must be Adepts or higher. It will require 5 RPs of various required topics. Each type of breeding (2 different sex characters, 2 same sex characters, or single parent /NPC) has special topics that are required. NPC or Single Parent adoptions options may only be done once! If you want to breed multiple times, you must do so between characters!
You must pay 2 million per child, for a max of 2 kids at one time. Must be paid for in full at time of breeding. You get to choose a total of 3 things you want your child to have in ways of looks, not including the sex of the child (you get to pick the sex for free and choose three additional traits). Everything else is up to the artist.
For more information go to this post.
» Khehora This post has the official rules.
The bare basics is this: Khehora must be Level 15+ or have 8 RP's (for Civi's). May breed every 5 levels/5 RP's and it must be between Characters (very few exceptions will be made for npc breedings. No Single parent adoptions allowed for this). If you have a same sex couple, you may 'adopt' eggs.
Both parents must pay 200K for a total of 400K for a clutch of eggs (2-5). Payment is due at time of breeding.
