civilian path

The Civilian Path is used for those who wish to garner intellect, work elsewhere throughout Magesc, build a family, and not wish to get physical with dragons or other people of Magesc. These are the scholars, laborers, and craftsmen. Those who wish not to fight but wish to put their strengths into other categories to live their own lives and Master what they have. They may also contribute to the war effort by other means: building weapons, providing food, creating potions, opening stores and restaurants, creating for themselves a farm, tending to their family, etc. This is the Path of the Civilian.

choosing the right path

As it has been stated, there are two paths you can choose for your character. That of the Battler and that of the Civilian. These two paths are quite different, but equally rewarding and equally satisfying.

THE BATTLER'S PATH
The Battler's Path is one that will take you on the journey through the life of a warrior in Magesc. A person who fights using magic and/or physical force to grow and become a Master. These characters are focused more on the war aspect of the world and are readily willing to battle others and/or dragons to defend themselves, their race, or their loved ones. They can be the healers, the warriors, the archers, the mages, and the barbarians. These characters take on the statistics aspect and will battle dragons for their worth. They attend the different academies throughout the world according to their race and will learn through their teachers or mentors in the ways of magic and power. These characters will go through a leveling process which allows them to grow based on being a specific level along with the other requirements. They are required to go on dragon hunts and bring Dragon Soul Orbs to their race's leader in order to gain acceptance and growth.

THE CIVILIAN PATH
On the other hand, there is the Civilian Path, one paved with much more peace. Not one battle is required of you and neither is hunting dragons. The Civilian Path is strictly for RP purposes and the growth of the character is through much character development. These characters are the scholars, laborers, and craftsmen of Magesc. They prove their worth by growing the food, crafting the weapons for war, creating a family, opening shops, learning as much as possible about Magesc and much, much more. They are required to learn their craft fully, being trained under their mentor (likely a relative, friend, or trainer) whom they wish to succeed. Their lives are purely that of a citizen of Magesc, not one of battling.

~~~~~
It is up to you to decide which character you will take into the world of Magesc. Life as we know it hangs in the balance and it is up to you to deter it from one side to another. You may only choose one path for your character. BUT you may switch this path ONE TIME ONLY throughout the course of their life.
For example, your character wants to go join the war effort and help their faction win the war. They grow, from Apprentice to Adept, and from Adept to Expert going up the Battler's Path. But when they reach the Expert stage, they come to the realization that life is more precious, and they wish to take on the life of a Civilian. One will have to go through a "Path Finding" role play that is at least 2000 words explaining why they decide to change sides. Whether that be an RP with a fellow Magescian, a Solo RP with the family, a reflection of why they wish to do this, or a combination of the three. It must total at least 2000 words to be counted as the Path Finding. Since the example character started up the battle path, they do keep the items in their inventory (for use in exchanges or whatever the case may be) but will lose all of their gained statistics and will be converted to the Civilian Path for the remainder of the RP requirements for growth.
Say your character starts up the Civilian Path and gets him or herself to Adept. Then they wish to join the war effort. You will have to write the same "Path Finding" RP as that of the above stated, and will have an added required RP of at least 500 words for the Weapon Choosing (ONLY Required by Oblivionites and Orderites). Other than that, the Clan Choosing RP should have already been done for the Dovaa, so no added requirement is needed for them. Your character would start at Level 15 (the lowest level an Adept can be) and will have to place their stat points wherever they wish. From then, they will be required to follow the Battler's Path for the remainder of their life.
We suggest only changing paths when you are sure your character is ready and it is believable through their RPs that they would do such a thing. Say for example, Brolis' Character -- Kavanna -- decided to switch to the Civilian Path. The fact that she has gone through a magnificent change over the course of her life, from having a baby and settling down, it is understandable that she could change paths if she so desired. If a character wished to change paths from the Civilian Path to the Battler's Path, why would they do that? Are they tired of tending to the farm or store? Do they want to seek adventure? Does a tragedy strike and they realize they need to learn to defend themselves or their loved ones? All of these over the course of a few RPs would be significant enough to make a character want to change. Since one can only change paths ONE TIME, we ask that you make sure you're ready for the new set of requirements bestowed upon you when you do switch.
khehorian transformation
If you have a Feral Khehora and decide to use the Civilian Path, the way to the Ritual is paved a bit differently. Seek out the Guide to the World of Magesc thread to see more about the Ritual in detail.
There is another way to complete the Ritual, though it is a bit more strenuous. Without the need to gather the Dragon Soul Orbs, one must go through the "Khehora Ritual Adventure" found in the Mysteries of Magesc forum here in the guild. This will spell out how one can complete the Ritual without needing to kill the dragons for their souls and is only usable by the Feral Khehora who take up the Civilian Path.
Completing the Ritual Adventure will determine if the change is successful.
the scholar
Many of the people who take the Civilian Path find themselves seeking knowledge about the Magesc world. There are so many crevices to find and things to know. Knowledge is an abundant thing within Magesc and there is always more to be known.
Those who seek the knowledge are known as Scholar's. These people tend to think more rationally about situations and rely on magic as a resource to fill their knowledge banks. There are also many secrets about magic people have yet to learn.
They oftentimes will find themselves seeking professions such as: a librarian, writer, journalist, chronicler, researcher, psychologist, magical healers, enchanters, inscription, teachers, tutors, and the jobs involving intellect over anything else.
the laborer
There are always many seeds to sow in the world of Magesc. People who would like a more laborious job would consider being what Magescians call a Laborer. They have taken the route of blood, sweat, and tears to attain what they want.
The Laborers professions include things like: miners, woodcutters, fisherman, farmers, herbalists, and skinners. Most anything that would cause a person to sweat, but be rewarded with a larger pay off in the end for that hard labor.
the craftsman
All the others that don't fall into the other two categories are considered Craftsmen. These people tend to lean more towards creating objects and other fine things for the people of Magesc. Some of those things are used in the war effort and others are just for fun.
Some of the Craftsman professions include, but aren't limited to: tailors, leather workers, jewel crafters, alchemists, blacksmiths, artists, bakers, engineers, and shop owners.
