There comes a time in a man's life when he hears the call of the sea. If the man has a brain in his head, he will hang up the phone immediately. - Dave Barry
Civilian Life
 Name: Wallace Suite
Nicknames: Wall, Wally. He generally prefers being called by his full name, though. Do NOT call him Suite, or any play off his last name, unless you want to start a fight. After the events of the Surrounding Battle, he also responds to Blue.
Age: 17 18 19 20 21
Birthday: April 10th
Sign: Aries
Fav. Food: Ice cream. Any flavor, any brand, though he prefers mixing his own flavors into bland ones to buying, say, Rocky Road. In terms of “real food” he’s partial to pretty much anything involving baked goods. Muffins, scones, sandwiches, bagels, croutons... the list goes on and on.
Hated Food: Citrus fruits. Which are a necessary evil, so he tends to mix them with ice cream- creamsicle floats are his breakfast of choice- or avoid them altogether and risk getting sick. Also frozen yogurt, which is a dubious ice cream impostor and not to be trusted.
School: Currently attending a private college on the outskirts of Destiny City, having been offered a scholarship to their law program. He finished high school and did his undergrad at the Horizon Institute for Technology and Science. Before being kidnapped by aliens, he attended Meadowview.
Hobbies:
Vote For Me!: Wallace is the very model of a student body president. He’s got the work ethic, the ideas, and the smugness down pat. What he lacks, however, is the charisma, which means that while he always runs for president (ever since sixth grade, even), he’s never actually made it to the coveted seat. Last year was as close as he’d ever been, having landed the seat of Junior Class Vice President. Which is all work and no respect, but Wallace doesn’t mind too much, since it means it’s only a matter of time until he makes it to the top. He’s already started preparing his campaign for Senior Class President, and he’s sure that this year, he’s going to win.
Off The Deep End: Swimming was always something that Wallace enjoyed, but he didn’t take it too seriously until watching the Summer Olympics with his family one year. Before then, his experience with diving was limited to watching older kids do cannonballs in the local pool. Ever since, he’s made it a point to practice on his own several times a week. Wallace prefers practicing platform diving, but he also dabbles in springboard. His dives are fairly simple, since he doesn’t want to injure himself and can’t afford proper tutelage, but he loves the artistry behind it, and the temporary sensation of flying he has between the platform and the pool. He enjoys other water sports as well, just not as much as diving, and is on the Meadowview swim team as a way of getting prime access to the pool, though he’s mostly there as backup for relay races and the like.
Straight Arrow: When Wallace was just starting high school, a friend of his dragged him along to try out archery. He resisted and flailed and argued until he realized that he actually really liked it. It has a definite goal, requires technique and focus, and allows him to clear his head, something he often feels he needs. He’s hardly a master of it; even though his mind is fairly organized, the calmness and confidence required still elude him. But it’s awfully therapeutic: Wallace likens it to hitting a pillow, except it’s a heck of a lot more satisfying, and there’s less feathers to clean up afterwards.
Taking Care of Business: Wallace is the man of his house, the eldest son of a working single mother, and as such is often called on to both help with housework and look after his younger siblings. While many guys his age would balk at having such responsibilities, Wallace actually enjoys them. Things like laundry and cleaning appeal to his sense of order, and taking charge of his siblings appeals to his sense of bossiness. And when he can order them to help out with the cleaning, everyone wins! Except the grumbling siblings, but he’s certain that they’ll learn to enjoy it just as he did.
Virtues:
Honor Before Reason: Even when it’s not practical or in his favor, Wallace has a sense of honor that’s nigh-unbreakable. He has a very strict moral code and will not waver on anything in it. He’s honest about his intentions, loyal to the people close to him, and as impartial as possible when it’s important to be so. Ethics are very important to him, and he strives daily to be a decent, respectable person- in short, as unlike the politicians he emulates as possible. This doesn’t mean he won’t make an unethical decision, but he won’t knowingly go against his personal moral code, even when it would benefit him to do so.
Old Reliable: No matter what, Wallace will hold up his end of any bargain. If he gives his word on something, it’s literally as good as done. He takes his responsibilities, whether self-imposed or to others, very seriously, and would never fail to do what he agreed to of his own volition. More than once he’s promised to do more than he realized, or something he’s not comfortable with, but unless whatever he’s asked to do violates one of his other morals- putting him in extremely uncomfortable territory, the outcome of which is never positive- he’ll forge ahead, because his word is his bond.
Everything In Its Place: Wallace is neat. Wallace is organized. Wallace has an eye for detail. Wallace takes great pleasure in making sure he has a system for everything, from getting dressed in the morning to eating lunch to going to bed at night (left foot first, fluff the pillows three times, read one chapter of his book before turning out the lights). When his routine is broken, one reason he’s so good at coming up with backup plans is because he knows where he puts things, both physically (screwdriver in the toolkit under the kitchen sink, check!) and mentally (the next train comes in six minutes). Keeping himself and his surroundings organized helps Wallace be more efficient, more productive, and generally more sane.
Man With The Plan: In a jam? Wallace has a plan! In his quest for efficiency and order, he goes into most situations with a plan of what to do and how to do it. In a perfect world, this would make him unstoppable, but with the presence of delays and accidents and Spanners in the Works, he constantly has to adjust accordingly. Not all of his adjustments work, and some of his plans are doomed to failure from the start. But his attention to detail and mental cataloguing of what he has to work with give him a higher rate of success than he realizes, and he’s pretty good at getting out of tough situations- which is good, because he finds himself in them more often than he’d like.
Flaws:
Real Men Don’t Ask For Directions: It has been said amongst his family that Wallace could get lost in a paper bag. This itself isn’t such a bad thing, but he manages to make it worse by refusing to ask for help. Wallace knows he must have flaws, yet he refuses to acknowledge them when they are brought to light. Even if he’d be better off asking for directions, he’d rather stumble around lost for an hour. Even though the extent of his cooking ability is making Easy Mac and Eggo Waffles, that won’t stop him from trying to cook dinner for his family. Those who know him aren’t sure if this is his pride talking, or if he genuinely doesn’t know that he’s bad at these things; those closest to him suspect that it is a mixture of the two.
Hair-Trigger Temper: While Wallace doesn’t stay mad for long, he does get riled up a lot. For seemingly insignificant reasons, or sometimes no apparent reason at all. Call him by a nickname he doesn’t like, and he’ll scream at you. Offer him half your orange and he’ll try to punch you. It’s difficult to predict exactly what will set him off, but when it happens, expect yelling, hurt feelings, and if he’s wound tightly enough, threats of violence. He’ll calm down soon enough, and even apologize for his actions, but it’s only a matter of time before someone pushes one of his buttons again.
Stick in the Mud: Wallace is stodgy and boring. He doesn’t think he is, and he doesn’t mean to be, but he’s stuffy all the same. He takes himself and his responsibilities far too seriously, partly because of his jumped-up sense of self importance. Working with him can get annoying very quickly because he refuses to lighten up, take a joke, or (gasp!) color outside the lines for a change. His reasoning is that in a world full of insanity, someone has to be the Only Sane Man... except when you look at it, passing up a party to clean the gutters is not terribly sane.
Living the Dream: In his head, Wallace is a simple guy with big dreams. His lack of astounding success thus far has convinced him that he’s not destined for greatness, but this only makes him crave it more. Rather than settle for being the person he is, he tries to act like the person he wants to be. To him, this means coming off as smug, bossy, and frequently hypocritical. He tries to make himself look important and cool, hoping that eventually the act will become natural to him. His idea of “cool” is highly skewed, though, and his attempts to seem superior usually just annoy his peers.
What Wallace doesn’t realize is that subconsciously, he has a tendency to sabotage his efforts whenever it looks like he’s getting too close to victory, because that would require him to do a lot more than he really feels himself capable of. It’s because of these insecurities that he’s basically a doormat to anyone with more confidence and charisma than himself, though he’ll still grumble about it and tell himself that he’s doing all the real work and they only get the credit, which isn’t always a lie.
Physical Features:
Eyes: Grayish-blue/cadet blue.
Hair: Also cadet blue, slightly darker than eye color. Straight and flat and slightly longer than he feels it should be, though at least it’s fairly even. Since his options are shag or bowl cut, Wallace just tries to keep it as neat as possible.
Face: He has one. His expression usually ranges from serious to dismayed, and he wears a pair of thin-framed glasses.
Clothes: Uniform. When not in uniform, it’s best described as business casual. Wallace likes button-down shirts and fairly plain ties, though he has a few joke ties as well. Black or blue or khaki slacks. Not so fond of jeans. Boots, rather than sneakers. He also wears a fairly ornate pendant with a compass inside, but usually hides it under his tie because it’s not manly.

It’s more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy. - Steve Jobs
Pirate Crew
Pirate Captain Flannery Spicer: Also known as "Red." Wallace and Flannery have known each other since before they were born. Being three days older and having a much stronger personality, Flannery has taken the lead, and Wallace is generally left with no choice but to follow. He constantly complains about the crazy things she gets him involved in, and wishes that he didn't have to deal with her... but secretly, he enjoys getting to do things he wouldn't have the guts to get into on his own. Not that he'll ever admit that to himself, much less anyone else.
First Mate Wallace Suite: Also known as "Blue." Pirates don't technically have first mates, which is why it's the only title Wallace accepts. He tends to keep order in the group, because somebody has to do it, but it's a role he adopts with reluctance.
Navigator Roxanne Selte: Also known as "Yellow." Roxanne is more of Flannery's friend than Wallace's, and is usually bound up in whatever craziness is going on. The fact that she's a willing participant in Flannery's schemes- and has no shortage of her own- makes Wallace wary around her. He's also careful not to let her near his clothes, having lost too many to bedazzling.
Doctor/Carpenter Steven Bittre: Also known as "Green." Wallace first met Steven when they were both kidnapped into space, and was impressed by his relaxed nature. Though that did dash his hopes of having an ally against Flannery and Roxanne; Steven is so easily swayed that he doesn't really make much of a difference power-wise.
