This is a private RP between Adelis and Conduit.

Put your hand in my hand,
And we'll stand--!

Let the sky fall~
When it crumbles,
We will stand tall:
Face it all together,
At skyfall~!

There was such joy to be found in the sky. Flying was his crowned-and-reigning favourite activity. Truly, flight was freedom, and he had always been sympathetic to those that did not know the joy of flight. The rush and the dizzying highs, the weightless drop of plummeting towards the earth only to shoot back upwards once again. There were no real boundaries within the sky--just that he could only go so high as his body could handle. While it was disappointing he would never be able to touch the heights that Angeni could and did, it didn't stop him from constantly pushing his limits and enjoying doing so.

The breath of the wind blew his hair back and teased over the vibrant stallion's outstretched wings as he swooped towards the tops of the newly greened trees. Spring was in full swing. And what he wanted to attempt doing, again? He needed to be lower for.

But not quite this low. with a snort, Adelis drew in a deep breath and powered upwards, hind hooves neatly and playfully flicking against the top of a tree as though he had leaped from its top branches. Once he had cleared enough, but not too much, he flicked his head and then--

--and then tucked his wings before flicking them in such a way that he turned his entire world upside down! he was attempting a barrel roll once again, and this time? This time he succeeded. Upon regaining what was right side up, he was unprepared for the disorienting, dizzy feeling, and found himself swaying, swerving, and practically banging through the topf of the trees. Despite a mad scramble he couldn't quite right himself and gain altitude once again.

But at least when he broke through towards the ground, he didn't land in nearly so painful a heap as he once had done. But still...his 'landing' was far, far from graceful. With a grunt and something that sounded like "...need a minute..." he exhaled and allowed his entire body to slump.

Ugh.

Conduit's life had never been one of excitement and all tasks and encounters had been of equal measure and memory. It wasn't that her life was controlled to ensure that it was predictable, only that she never wandered too far from the centre of the herd and as such, very little ever happened. If she were to be honest about it, she didn't aspire to exploration or adventure either and failed to see the appeal. It wasn't that she had never possessed an adventurous streak, but her family had a way of attracting trouble and she simply wasn't equipped to handle it.

...Perhaps when her nephew had successfully disposed of the skinwalker population then she would take another step, but for now she was content to sit up here on the slopes. Heavily guarded and well cared for, she had only a few mundane concerns which generally revolved around her hair or whether or not her favourite fruits were in season.

Therefore it should have come to no one's surprise that the mare had not been expecting any visitors, let alone those who had now rather abruptly destroyed the canopy above her head. It was just as well she hadn't been so absorbed in her thoughts, as she had just managed to pull herself to her hooves and move away from the impact zone before it was too late! Alas, this did leave her with the predicament of having to stare in a somewhat bemused fashion at the heap of yellow and red that lay before her.

The muffled 'need-a-minute' and unmanly groan did at least reassure her that he wasn't dead, though whether or not he was completely uninjured remained to be seen.

"You know, most visitors just knock," she observed, her tone light and amused as she lowered her head to poke at his wings with her muzzle. "They don't typically crash through the trees - speaking of you should probably apologise to them," she mused and turned her gaze upwards for a brief moment.

"I say, do you need a doctor?"

Was he hearing things? Perhaps he had hit his head harder than he first figured. Perhaps it had been an errant branch of some sort, because certainly he hadn't crashed into any rocks. Nor was he laying on any, as - despite the tremendous aches and pains to his body - he didn't feel anything digging in to him aside from a branch piece or two. Considering he was already quite ridiculously sore, within a few hours or even a day...well, he wasn't much looking forward to it. And with the world still spinning and his head very vehemently protesting any sort of movement, he was dimly aware of some vibrations. And a voice.

A voice.

A voice?

He hadn't seen any one. Was he hallucinat--ouch! Nope. Certainly, he wasn't. Opening deep amethyst eyes, he looked to spot his unwitting companion, twitching his wings a little before letting them droop again. Knock?

"...I think I knocked a lot of wood." He commented upon finding his voice, the mare coming into focus with her light-and-dark profile. Snow. Stars. Moon. With her mentioning he should apologise to the trees, he glanced upwards carefully to minimize the spinning. Apologise to the trees. While it wasn't a silly concept... "I apologise, trees, for abruptly snapping your limbs."

...he did feel ridiculous saying it aloud.

An ear twitched towards the sound of her voice.

"No. Yes. Maybe--quite possibly. Or a few more minutes until everything stops lurching like they got into fermented berries."

Trees. Drinking. Adelis quirked a grin at that and chuckled softly, letting himself just...rest.

Aha, he was one of those soquili, she didn't have to speak to him to realise that. The manner in which he addressed the trees, with a tone that humoured but wasn't genuine, indicated that he hadn't been raised in a fashion that emphasised the significance of life in all things. She would have said that her father would be unimpressed but it was unlikely, nothing seemed to surprise or bother her father in any significant way, in fact, he probably would have predicted it by smell or some other utterly ridiculous method.

Still, she would have offered him a round of applause if she could muster the flexibility in her wings to provide it. No matter how cynical the apology might have been he had still done it, she'd even ignore his somewhat deadpan observation about 'knocking' on a lot of wood. Or at least she was aiming to ignore it but really, why would she lie to herself, it warranted a response...especially from the likes of her.

"I don't really consider tearing off and debilitating a number of trees to be 'knocking', it's almost a terrorist attack like one of the human woodcutters," she pointed out mildly. She didn't really consider the humans of the lowlands to be terrorists, they only used what they needed, but the manner in which they acquired it was sometimes a little disturbing - they didn't forage for fallen trees, they merely sliced them in two!

Nevertheless when she had finished with that she did lift a brow at his indecision regarding the medical attention. Did he want it or not? Really it could be hard to track down a doctor now and then, if he wasn't sure then it would delay her search! It was in those moments that she decided to take a leaf out of her nephews book (who was many years her senior) and promptly nudge at Adelis' limbs. One after the other, making sure each didn't move with an odd clunk - it was only when she was satisfied nothing was broken or swollen that she left him be... that being said, she wasn't the gentlest of mistresses.

"Well you won't die that's a bonus...but you might need more flying lessons."

Adelis opened his eyes, his gaze bewildered, as the mare berated him and equated him to the destructive two-leggers he had tried to remain far away from. But--but she had just invited the comment with her own quip about knocking, and--! And his mother's voice floated in his mind.

"Never argue with a mare," She said, eyes dancing with mirth as she looked to her lifemate, Persephonix, who simply stared back with his unblinking, glowing eyes of blue. "For we will surely win. The only times you should are when our lives are absolutely in danger...but even then, do so gently."

So he shut his mouth and let his nose bump against the ground with a slow sigh. It didn't really matter who started what, after all. That was behind him, placed firmly in his childhood, anyway, and would only serve to insult her anyway. The vibrant stallion was jolted from his musings by her inspection, all winces and huffed breaths when she nudged a particularly sore group of muscles or otherwise aching and painful limb. With her words once again, he lifted his head, slowly, actually bestowing her with a look of bewilderment.

He opened his mouth.

Nope.

And then, managed a laugh; a chuff of amusement on the air as he rested the tip of his muzzle upon the grass and bit of bramble'd and broken twigs.

"Lady," He began, putting a respectful emphasis upon his first word, so he would know he was genuine in saying it. By her treatment of him, and her berating words, he was perhaps right to suppose that he had insulted her, and thus strove to make amends before he completely gaffed up this meeting with her. She was a stranger, and despite her apparent distaste, she helped regardless. "I was actually testing something in my flight, and was a little too low for such a maneuver. The skies are a joy for me, and I would endlessly soar if I did not have to come to ground for food and rest... May I know your name..? Though I made quite a grave error in flying too low and have disturbed you, I hope you will accept my apologies: I am sorry, and my name is Adelis. Thank you for your help."

Well wasn't that a series of pretty words? Once the stallion had recovered from his initial dazed state he had demonstrated a surprising amount of eloquence. Admittedly, this eloquence was placed upon an unneeded apology and Connie's lips could do no more than purse into a light line as she listened. Evidently he had misinterpreted her somewhere down the line and if she was quite honest, this wasn't that surprising, after all, few ever really encountered her family, let alone its deadpan humour and sarcasm.

"It's Connie," she said when she was certain he was quite finished with his ridiculous and very long winded 'apology'. Her brow lifted, her lips parted and then after a while she gave a prompt snort. Oh dear, had she wounded his pride, was he affronted? Eventually she turned her attention back to his face and shook her head - all things considered, he had that 'way' about him that quite a few others did.

...All that blustering.

Well she was sure that it went down well with the more dithering females!

"A grave error generally confirms that you need schooling," she pointed out delicately, deliberately stepping over him as she returned to her position underneath her now pruned tree. "A delight or no, one who takes pleasure in a hobby is not necessarily good at it and I should think that you have most certainly demonstrated that!" An impish smile crept onto her lips and she regarded him closely through narrowed eyes.

"Your apology is not accepted Adelis, if you wish to make amends you will be required to put in more effort than that."

The blazing stallion's dark amethyst eyes took in Conduit's reaction to him, and his apology. Briefly, his eyes dimmed in disappointment...and then brightened, both because there was no way he could be mildly disappointed for long as much as it proved her intelligence. He would have to work harder to apologise, and it was something he looked forward to.

And she just dryly dolled out all those carefully worded insults.

Ironically, it was stimulating, when he should have taken offence to it. Instead they pulled at him and made him wonder. Oh, perhaps he deserved it, which was why it didn't bother him. It was nice to have a frie--okay, she wasn't a friend, but simply an acquaintance, that would blithely set him in his place while seeming to be indifferent in her tone.

So he chuckled, slowly, his lips resting against the forest floor.

"Perhaps I would show you I am not such a hazard in the skies. But later--I think I would need a bit of time to recover." He paused, canting his head to regard her quietly. "If you'd care to be proven wrong on that--for everything else by way of my apology, you are certainly correct."

Connie had never been one to keep her opinions to herself, on the contrary she had been raised to voice her opinions and keep an open mind. She had always been instructed to be open to possibilities and as a consequence she often saw things for what they were, rather than what they aspired to be. As such, she did have a habit of occasionally providing rather dry 'insults', and while she would argue that these were merely observations, there would always be someone who took offence. To say that Adelis was not offended by the nature of her observations was a testament to his character.

Fortunately for the stallion it appeared that the mare had either grown bored of her observations, or she had simply concluded that she had provided him with an adequate amount. It seemed at this point that the pale mare was prepared to allow him sanctuary under her trees, and more importantly, the opportunity to rest. Granted, Conduit had never been a fool when it came to others and when he had crashed through her 'ceiling' she had noted that he may have needed more than just rest, but his glib responses had soon dispelled that notion.

He would be fine.

Nevertheless, once she had been satisfied that he wasn't going to die on her doorstep, the mare had moved away from him and left him very much to his own devices. Settling herself back under her tree, she had flicked out her legs into a more comfortable position and returned to gazing into a seemingly endless horizon... or rather she had until he made his offer. At that point the mare promptly cast her gaze back towards him and lifted her brow.

"I am not certain I could permit you to threaten the trees so glibly," she replied and gave her head a dutiful shake. "Not without providing you with further instruction myself before you attempt to reacquaint yourself with the ground."

He laughed, though it was really more a chuckle than anything, as his muscles protested even that. Perhaps he'd bruised ribs. Maybe. It wasn't too uncomfortable to talk, but chuckling and laughter? A bit of a different story, that.

She was interesting. He wasn't actually so certain she meant to be insulting as it seemed to move more towards serious sarcasm.

"Yes, well... I shall just have to let my actions speak for me, then. Unfortunately they seem to have spoke loud enough for my entrance."

He didn't bother to promise her, now, that he was actually a very nimble Wind, despite the obviousness of his daring...and, even yes, the sheer lack of intelligence he'd had in those moments of deciding he wished to try something new so near the ground. And yet...sometimes the most interesting introductions were made by these awkward and rather painful circumstances.

It was just a good thing not all of his introductions were like this, he mused, resting his muzzle against the forest floor once again, having lifted it to speak to her.

"I find myself looking forward to your instruction."

If he could only jump for joy! But, he was serious.
