Quiet.

So very quiet.

Except for the wind. Which had become as familiar as a companion to Laini as any being could be. It had moods and seemed to have feelings as well.

It would blow dust into her face before slacking off as if it had never existed; it would roar across the desert plain like a beast, angry and hungry. But at times it even seemed pleasant, even comforting, pushing the heat away from her with a calm breeze, free of grit and grain.

It was a friend and foe.

Since entering the desert, and leaving behind the cool shade, the Alkidike/Shifter mix had learned slowly how to survive. She had brought enough water to sustain herself for a short distance, but she knew it would last her only so long. From there, she was uncertain of where she would go. She honestly hoped to run into one of the human tribes that she knew roamed these hot sands. They knew more about this place than she ever could.

Wiping her face of dirt, the girl continued forward, the heat sweltering on her skin.

Although she had made Jahuar her home Zuri liked to travel around from time to time. She wasn't going back to Zena, no that would be ridiculous and take a long time, she didn't think she could be away from Biroki for that long, however she did like to look around Tale. Today Belle was with her on her little adventure, the roati having her own little pack with food and water in it. Zuri also carried the same in her bag. She had been away from her new home for about a day now, and the desert was so different from the forest, but it wasn't necessarily a bad different.

Normally as she walked around the forest Zuri found things. Bones, leaves, those sorts of things. But in the distance she could see another person. She froze, the last person whom she didn't know and ran into tried to not only steal Belle but also eat her. This person, this girl, from what Zuri could tell was at least part Shifter. The other part seemed to be Alkidike if the antennas meant anything. "Hello there." Zuri called out in a friendly tone. Still she had her hand on her spear and Belle was safely behind her. She didn't want to take any chances.
