"Come out! Come out, you louse!"
Maelle stalked around the troll-made park in New Hemisect, barking at her unseen aggressor. Her coattails were slightly charred- the only coat she could salvage from the fire. She tugged at her sleeve in frustrated anxiety, the last remaining button hanging on by a deep blue embroidered thread. She could have left the city with her lusus and started fresh. She could have even muscled supplies from her freshly displaced neighbors - but it wouldn't be so. She was too proud to leave. Her lusus was back at the rubble of her hive, playing demolisher and collecting personal items that could still be saved. But Maelle had grown tired of combing through her suite, and at least assisting in the park would be a nice reprieve... Or so she had thought.
The blueblood slid into a rather out-of-place chair, idly crossing her legs. It was right in the middle of the clearing she patrolled, a peculiar prop for a high blooded relief worker. She couldn't focus all worked up like this. Maelle took a deep inhale and looked around for her assigned... What were they calling them, delivery assistants? Undergrown wiggler helpers? She had no idea why the PPS would go through the trouble of recruiting little ones for their dirty work, but at least hers was helpful. Where was that little tyke?
There was a rustle in the foliage, and Maelle whipped back around. "Get out here, you no good criminal," she hissed through her snaggly, tusk-like teeth. "If you're bold enough to ransack the Upper District, you should be bold enough to fight, eh? Or should I say foolish enough to fight?"
She stepped out and behind her chair and put both of her hands on the backrest. "Let's do this,"

[ For what felt like the millionth time that evening, Rasali stumbled through a pile of rubble, nearly biting it on a pile of tangled rebar. Thankfully, she managed to catch herself on the back of an upturned bus stop bench before something too terrible could happen.
Rasali straightened herself and huffed. There was a lot to do around New Hemisect still before the city would be up and running again like it used to. Even with all the helping Rasali was doing, she didn't feel like they were making much progress. Rasali had even put actual shoes on for this!
From around the corner, Rasali's lusus emerged, lumbering on all fours with a great deal of stuff lashed to his shell--a mishmash of supplies for the other relief workers by the look of it. For once, Kappadad seemed a little less than apathetic about the situation he found his charge and himself to be in at the moment. Recognizing Rasali to be both nearby and unharmed seemed to fill the large beast with noticeable relief. He groaned roughly and plowed through the wreckage to meet his troll with a sharp snap and prod with his bill.
Rasali yelped in surprise, but was quickly muffled by her realization at her lusus's worry. Oops. Running off like that probably wasn't the best course of action there. Weren't there supposed to be looters roaming the city?
A sudden commotion up the street caused Rasali and Kappadad to snap to attention. There was an older, cooler-blooded girl standing amongst a pile of rubbish, yelling at someone Rasali couldn't quite see past the debris.
"Criminals!?" Rasali hissed to herself.
Kappadad immediately understood what was about to happen, but was too slow, loaded down with supplies, to do anything to stop it.
Rasali took off towards the clearing. Her chunky workboots immediately kicked into some spilled nutrition cylinders, causing a fantastic clattering.
Kappadad, too, gave a mighty bellow and slammed his tail against the pavement before giving chase. He wasn't interested in any of the shouting that was going on between the other trolls, but if a fight was going to break out, he wanted to make it clear that HE was in the area before anyone else set eyes on Rasali. ]
