Without fail, Ratiku had been patrolling the same area since earlier, back and forth, finding maybe one or two trolls the entire time, and yet he felt as if he'd done the work of ten volunteers. Not because he had, or because he was tired, no. It was because the yellowblood had always had a big head, and when he'd journeyed in from Chittentown to help take care of the victims of the recent New Hemisect disaster, he thought himself held on some kind of pedestal, above the rest, because real trolls didn't need or ask for help. It was a ridiculous notion, he thought, to expect anything good or kind from their society. Still, he was here and providing, if only for the temporary satisfaction it brought his over-inflated ego.
Boots scuffed and slid suddenly on a piece of large rubble as it shifted, and he nearly lost his balance for a second, but he caught himself, and brushed his pants off unnecessarily, looking around to see if anyone had noticed. He saw no one, though, at least not directly in front. Ratiku never looked behind. Only those unsure of themselves did that.
Hopping over another pile or two of what used to be buildings, he finally stopped to take a short rest—only a short one, mind you—on the remains of what might have even been a public transportation bench before a bunch of s**t had fallen on top of it. Setting his pack of supplies on his lap, he dug through to find a water bottle, and even though it wasn't chilled and probably tasted awful, it would have to do. It would be hard for anyone to tell that someone like this particular yellowblood came from Chittentown, with the way he seemed to mull over every little thing that disadvantaged him.

She wasn't really too sure, but somewhere along the way, Sarcel had been separated.
Which was alright, sort of. The recent chaos had come to a head, and she found herself worming her way through streets (now destroyed, but still vaguely familiar) in efforts to avoid the fights threatening to break out. Part of the girl could agree with the anti-relief; she was a bit agitated from the surveillance system, and her nervous, paranoid nature didn't really help the fact. She almost wanted to rebel, if only because she had the chance; instead, her anger only simmered.
Problem was she was still too scared to really make much of a move on the matter, so she stuck to slinking around as she was used too. Sarcel gave a glance over the environment; at least she wasn't unprepared. While the entire situation felt somewhat unreal, the shotgun in her hands was quite the opposite; too real. It had been a while since the blueblood had felt the need to bring her weapon out, and a part of her felt scared of the notion of using it... while a smaller part actually itched for the trigger. Too much nervous energy.
Of course it's not realistic to assume she could go unavoidable forever. She almost doesn't notice the yellowblood, but of course by the time she does it's a bit too late: she's was out in the open. Gun at the ready, she wondered if the other troll was part of the relief force or not; really, she didn't want to wait to find out (fight or flight always resulted in the latter), but that small part of her that itched for the trigger... also didn't want to run. Instead she shakily stood her ground, eyes wide, stature small; if she was trying to seem threatening, she was failing.

Atiqua was so done. 1000% percent love, no magic love. Ransacking the town had been all well and good, but this time things were not all that easy. Somewhere along the lines, she'd gotten wrapped up in this and that- it was all very alarming, and slightly confusing. The city was in semi-chaos, and she was just using it to her advantage. She was only doing what was necessary to survive after all. She wasn't down with this whole fight the power, she just saw a job opportunity. And now, that door was closing, with a new one opening. A door she wasn't getting too fond of. Wandering through the rubble, (and avoiding some relief workers), Atiqua narrowly avoided getting squished a few times by debris. And perhaps worse, found by trolls looking to have a one troll cull. Wandering a blue blood seemed to be near a lower blood and it didn't look very good. "PSsssssst" She hissed, setting a small medikit behind some rocks in the blueblood's view. maybe that would help her higher ranked comrade?

It took nearly no time at all for the self-obsessed yellowblood to down the entirety of the water bottle that had been put aside for him. Next time he was thirsty, he'd have to dip into the supplies meant for those who actually needed them. Of course, he didn't much care. Even if he was out here for the glory of looking like a big man, he still planned on taking care of himself first and foremost. Rarely did Ratiku skimp on a chance to overindulge; they certainly didn't come along often.
Dropping the empty container to the ground, he let out a groan as he stood to stretch and kick the bottle. Who cared about littering when the whole city looked like s**t? When his arms fell heavily back to his sides, that was the first time he noticed he was no longer alone. Not far off was another troll, poised with her weapon on him, and maybe even... a little kid, too. His eyes remained heavily trained on the older one, though. Her symbol didn't stand out all that much from her shirt, but from this distance he thought maybe it was blue. A blueblood, Ratiku almost laughed, did she think she could just intimidate him like that because of her rank and her gun? Whereas many lowbloods would find themselves nervous in the face of such a foe, this particular one only strapped his supplies tightly to himself, pulled out a short handled axe with a single sided blade, and looked as if he considered himself so fast and so skilled that she had no chance of touching him.
"What do you think you're gonna do?" he called out to her, the question laced with sarcasm as he stomped towards her. "You gonna fight me, little girl?" If this had been just some average area with other highbloods around, he might have showed a little more restraint, but as it was, they were alone, and he was hardly afraid of her. "Well?!"

Fight or Flight, Sarce?
Sarcel stood ridged, gun poised to shoot, and yet she didn't fire. The yellowblood took long enough to notice her; she wasn't focusing on the water bottle as he casually tossed it away, nor did she pay much attention as he stood. Her eyes were, rather, locked on his face, for she was scared to let her eyes wander and dart around wildly. Sir had snapped at her for that before, wandering eyes when she should be standing at attention! Still, her eyes darted for only a moment as he reached down at his belt, producing a small axe. You're the one with the gun, remember that, bullets beat steel.
Of course you would never catch her saying that. She relied heavily on fire power, being less than physically apt for melee combat (at least her legs were strong and she was fast, but that was about it). Soon enough he spoke up, causing Sarcel to grit her teeth as the taunting. She knew deep down he wasn't scared of her—no one ever was—so why should it rile her up so badly? She didn't want to allow herself to be consumed with rage; that happened before, in the caverns, and to be honest she had felt like she scared herself more than the one she lunged at. Regardless, she felt the anger simmer unpleasantly.
Sadly, on the long list of flaws Sarcel could write up about herself, the fact that she was so easily startled was high on the list, to which it proved true. She hadn't expected the little psssst!, not that she could of really, and on impulse jerked the gun with a slight twitch of the arm and pulled the trigger, sending buckshot spraying with the majority... missing the yellowblood. With a quick glace she spotted the medikit, but offered no thanks in her surprised stupor. She fired, and the yellowblood was armed.
If it was fight or flight, she had chosen fight, though accidental, but a thought occurred to the blueblood then too; why couldn't it be a mix of both? She was given one goddamn talent, her speed, so she did the only thing she knew how.
She ran, but not away. What had chinchillamom always told her? Stay light on your feet, don't let them hit you.

Ratiku most certainly thought he was fast enough to hear the gunshot and dodge before impact, as if there were minutes between one and the other. In truth, he didn't know a damn thing about the way guns worked, only what he'd seen in movies, so it certainly wasn't a surprise when something sharp and painful embedded itself in his arm as he tried to get out of the way. If the blueblood hadn't lost her aim, his whole arm would probably be full of buckshot. The look on his face was still cocksure, though, as if it didn't hurt too bad. He still had plenty of fight in him, and now his adrenaline was beginning to pump him up further.
"I'm gonna get you back for that!" It was a promise he intended to keep. What little ammo had ended up in his arm probably wouldn't have been enough to keep it from swinging, but luckily it had hit the one opposite his good hand. After watching her a moment longer, he charged, his footfalls heavy. They had an obvious power behind them. A power that simply wasn't enough to make up for the speed that wasn't there.
Throwing his arm back, he took a swing when he thought for sure he could at least knick her. But as sure as he was, he was still proven wrong. "s**t," he hissed as soon as he realized he wouldn't make contact, not by a long shot.

Feeling the woosh of wind as the swing missed her gave her a new found confidence. Hitting the pavement as fast as she could, reveling in the feeling of her shoes soles as they glided over the broken concrete. She felt dizzy with adrenaline, but it was a good sort of dizzy that woke her up and made her heart race and made her feel alive. Maybe it was a mix of the panic with the frenzy of the impending fight, but at that brief moment, she felt like she was capable of anything.
She didn't take the time to try and fire again, biding her time as she swooped back around, although she never stayed in one place for too long before dashing off in another direction. Never keep a predictable path, keep them guessing.
She didn't fire, but rather kept speeding around, watching the yellowblood as she braced for whatever he'd try next, all the while looking for an opening

He tried to play off the little hop-step he had to take to keep from falling over when the axe went swinging noisily through the air. Foot landing heavily when he finally regained his balance, he almost immediately took off again towards where she'd stopped. It was just when he reached her that she took off again. Ratiku was getting even more pissed. "Are you just going to keep running away?" he spat, trying to play like her strategy was that of a coward. "Stand still and fight already!"
Taking a few steps towards where he'd found her this time, he swung his axe around. It was almost a display, something to make himself look bigger and badder. See how I can handle my weapon? his face said. If not, he thought she'd seen soon enough.

"Make me!"
The words escaped her mouth before she knew what she was saying, the moment seizing her before she could help herself. Turning at him, her finger accidentally squeezes the trigger a moment too early, sending another jolt through her tiny body as the kick from the shot puts a 'hiccup' in her stride; she quickly recovered, however, taking off again before the yellowblood could do anything, hopefully. It was a shame her shotgun only held two bullets, but she always had bullets on hand in her pockets. Sarcel quickly threw in another round as she ran, gritting her teeth in a slight frustration.

Of course, it was an ego boost to hear the loud crack of the shotgun fire, but this time feel nothing at all. It made him think he was getting more used to fighting someone long-ranged, like he really could easily dodge. In reality, he had just been lucky, and it showed when he leaned into his own stride and went for another attack. "Oh, believe me... I will!" There was a great emphasis on the very last word as he took a swipe, as heavily as he could, one that would probably set him off balance all over again. Ratiku didn't care, though. He was intent on hitting her, regardless the cost; this game of swings and misses was beginning to grow tiresome. He could only hope this time he connected while she was distracted with reloading.

But alas, no luck. Sarcel merely scrapped by, missing the swing again. In her efforts to dodge, she also didn't take the time to attack; missed hits tired the body more than hits that connected, and so she made it a priority to dodge the attacks more so than try to make her own hit. It seemed this would be a battle of stamina rather than skill!

Still... STILL he hadn't been able to make contact. This blueblood was fast, way too fast for him, really. Ratiku was not known for his speed, despite what he seemed to think. In his head, he was good at everything. On the battlefield, it was obvious he wasn't. That didn't mean he was about to give up, though. In fact, he was starting to get pretty heated after all those fruitless swings.
Once he found his balance again, he let out an angry growl, one that prefaced an attack that probably wasn't the smartest of things, but it was worth a try. He'd simply have to retrieve his weapon. Rearing back, the yellowblood tossed his axe, and it went spinning towards the speedy troll. Maybe, he thought, he'd find more luck in making his weapon do the 'running' instead of him.
