The Village Streets of Yukigakure

The pathway through the Snow Village is created of streets coated in heated concrete. Even the sidewalks & gutters are heated, to keep away the build-up of ice. For those in the know, the gutter system has been redesigned to drain all excess water to the canals, providing for a safer environment for the local citizens.

This is the site of a fierce battle. Between Zael Yukimura, a crass and prideful Jounin and the current ruler of the village, a vain and beautiful man named Ruri'iro Yuki.

Thoughts: Another scintillating day in the village

"Ah, Yukigakure, my life's work. A masterpiece of sheer beauty and elegance. From your humble beginnings of ice and uncut rock, a landscape unlike any other has been created," Ruri'iro chuckled as he looked at the bustling streets of his new village of Yukigakure, "Oh, the other Shinobi Nations will be so jealous of my work."

Ruri'iro was an odd man, an odd Kage. Growing up in a time of war to lead a time of peace, you wouldn't think the thin, lanky man was capable of leading a village. Or even capable of being a man. The Kage looked so feminine. Clad in white and purple robes, insulated to protect him from the cold, he smiled as he greeted the various villagers that came to offer him gifts or thank him for his work. Sometimes being the leader of a village is a thankless job unless you do something to make sure the villagers have a home to come back to. But when you are the man responsible for uniting the warring clans and helped build a village from scratch, you tend to get just a bit more praise. Ruri'iro brought on a new era of peace for the Land of Snow, for that everyone was thankful.

"I would like to buy an apple please," said Ruri'iro to a shopkeeper he met as he walked along the streets. After receiving the apple and paying the woman, he continued on his way, eating the apple and smiling, "Simply exquisite. It is such a wonderful day in the village. Nothing can possibly spoil it."

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael was a newly-appointed Jounin, but he was walking towards the Yukikage's office for a dismissal resignation. Zael was a dark and ghastly figure compared to the bustling of the village and the laughter of the children. A cigarette hung loosely from his lips and there was a long end of tobacco, illustrating that Zael didn't bother to tap it away. Nothing really mattered, he supposed. That was why there was no scarf around his neck. That was why there was no katana hanging from his back. At present, one thing anyone who knew Zael was sure of, was that he was wore a scarf and a blade strapped to his back. For now, nothing really mattered. The bone-chilling cold did nothing to Zael and the emptiness of his blade was replaced with a much more unstabe weight. His blade, Murasame, symbolized his past. However, Murasame was currently lying on the ground in his apartment, unkempt and uncleaned. It was still there, but ignored.

A rubber ball suddenly tumbled onto Zael's feet and he stopped dead in his tracks. The man looked down to see a small child retrieving the ball. The child glanced up at Zael and smiled underneath his own scarf. The kind, gentle smile of the boy with dusty blonde hair reminded Zael an awful lot of Saitou and the grieving man bit deep into his cigarette. The tobacco from the cigarette spilled onto his taste buds. Zael was a dark figure to begin with, but when the child looked up at him, nothing was as dark and cold as much as his eyes. Instead of their once shimmering gold, they had become a dull yellow. They were piercing and very uninviting. This terrible, frightening look made the child fall back on his bum and begin to cry, reminding the poor kid about the monsters he was told about. Zael noticed the growing crowd of bystanders staring at a kid crying at a man's feet, so he walked away without a word.

As he walked, Zael noticed a group of elderly villagers. Although he sorely hated the world, there was still something in him; something that told him what was right and wrong. His conscience could be considered that 'thing', but he knew what it was. Further back in time, when Zael had picked up smoking, his lover would warn him that if he wasn't careful, he would make others sick from the drugs. She comically pouted and reprimanded him whenever he smoked around old people. Mitsuba was the kindest and most thoughtful person Zael had ever met. Zael's memories of Mitsuba were the only things keeping the grieving man intact.

In order to salvage Mitsuba's lectures and save some old people the cough, that was when it happened. Zael removed the cigarette from his mouth, dropped it on the ground, and stepped on it. However, he didn't know he had done the dirty deed in front of a man who was crazy about the beauty of the village and had built it from the ground up. Shoving tobacco into the ground was widely considered to be an unclean act.

Ah, it was so beautiful. The clear blue sky, the snow capped mountains, the ice covered buildings and the newly paved streets....and what Zael did to those streets was in Ruri'iro's mind, heinous. Though he gave Zael credit, he at least saved the elderly from secondhand smoke, but he could of disposed of it somewhere else and not on the streets. Such a blemish on the perfection of Yukigakure would be distasteful to visitors who see that. What would the other nations think if they saw that? The ridicule went through Ruri'iro's mind and sparked a bit of anger within. The Bishonen Kage, pointed at Zael and yelled at him, "You! You with the scowl on your face! Do you realize what you have done?"

Ruri'iro's face looked like it was as red as a ripe tomato. Ooooh he was so mad. He walked over to the small patch of burnt ash and picked up the crushed bud, then placed it in the proper bin before he glared at, "That is completely unsanitary! Especially on the newly paved streets!!! What would happen if one of the Kages came to my village and saw this patch of ash hmmm? Ridicule, they would laugh in my face and tell me that Yukigakure was unclean. My village! The most beautiful village in the world!!! Defiled by this abomination of ash and smoke!!!!"

He didn't know that Zael was already in a sour mood because of his own faults, he cared about his village being clean, he cared about his reputation among the Kages. All of that was on the line because Zael didn't know what an ashtray or a disposal bin was. Ruri'iro pointed at Zael and declared, "Hand over the rest of your unclean habit!"

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael glanced up from his dark depression to find a beautiful woman standing before him, yelling and screaming and pointing. Not much different from his normal routine. The woman was almost as beautiful as Mitsuba and a bit of shine returned to Zael's eyes. Although the woman in front of him had long, dark brown hair, the eyes were similar. This sent a flutter into Zael's heart and for a long moment of awkward silence, Zael believed Mitsuba was alive again. Zael knew it. The woman he loved more than anything in the world couldn't have passed away. That would be much too cruel. Tears began to develop in Zael's eyes as the illusion of his past love settled in. However, it disappeared as soon as it came and Mitsuba's shadow that had replaced the loud woman faded away.

Reality hit Zael like an oncoming train and the shine in his eyes disappeared as well as the tears of joy. However, a different setting gave more life to the depressed man and his expression grew annoyed at the termagent woman who kept claiming that it was her village. Zael's annoyance grew as the yelling and reprimanding and he was pushed over the edge when the woman demanded his cigarettes.

"Hell no!" Zael replied angrily, a red vein pulsing on his forehead. Although he didn't show it, Zael was surprised at his answer. He was surprised that he answered at all. The woman in front of him seemed to rekindle a forgotten spark, but it was hardly enough to light the fire. "Damnit, woman. You won't get a husband if you don't stop nagging." Zael even found himself reprimanding, as he once did with Mitsuba. The entire situation confused the jounin and he frowned angrily at the pretty woman.

Thoughts: The nerve of this baboon!!! Insulting me like this!!!!
Chakra: Full.

A vein on the side of Ruri'iro's forehead popped out at the disrespectful man's accusations of him being female. The nerve of this guy! Talking to the Yukikage like some common villager. Or more like yelling at him like some common villager. The fact his streets was defiled by cigarette ash seemed far away. Now it was replaced by the fact this man doesn't show proper respect for the man who helped create this village from the ground up.

"Woman?" he started, "Did you just call me a woman?" he then stumbled back, clutching his chest as if Zael's words were a spear that pierced right through his very soul. How could he say such a thing? Just because he was beautiful, with flawless raven black hair and glittering green eyes. Just because he had long, thin legs, feminine facial features, and was lithe and slim, doesn't mean he isn't a man. It's what he was born as, even if his features doesn't prove it. Besides, chest hair, a beard, a mustache that gets food stuck in it? Ewwwww, gross, he should gag himself with a Kunai if he ever grew a mustache.

His overacted reaction was quickly replaced by comical fury as the feminine looking man yelled, "Do I look like I possess prominent breasts?!?!?!?!?!?!" before he literally swung at Zael with what can be best describe as a grade A pimp slap. Or in his case, the Kage Pimp Slap. Ruri'iro may not possess much in the way of physical strength, but even so, he's going to give this man a brief history of pain, starting with the back of his hand, "I am male you insolent buffoon!!!!"

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael hadn't expected that. Not only was the woman a man, but the man threw a slap. Due to its unexpectance, the back of the man's hand met with Zael's cheek in a painful stinging way and for a moment, Zael stood, frozen in spot, with a red mark the size of a hand on his injured cheek. The jounin's eyes were wide with anger and confusion and time seemed to slow down, giving Zael just enough time to grow multiple angry veins on his forehead. Now, before, Zael wouldn't have landed a finger on the beautiful, flat-chested woman. But it turned out this beautiful woman was indeed an a loud, nagging man.

Pissed off, Zael clenched his teeth together and with a bout of fury, he raised his fist and threw it forward at the man's cheek. Although his punch was not giving his all, Zael made it clear he wanted to fight for his pride. A man to be slapped by another man? That couldn't have been more hurtful to his pride and dignity. "You b*****d! You flat-chested woman!" Obviously, his last insult was simply to make the man angrier because it had worked out oh-so-well the last time. For a time, this childish fight was comical and downright pathetic, but it could easily turn into something more.

Thoughts: Does he even know who I am?

Obviously this brooding man did not know who he was dealing with. Ruri'iro may be vain, a bit snobby, and looks like a tall, flat chested woman due to a thin body like a dancer and feminine features, but he was Yukikage and head of his clan. As such, having grown up in a time of endless war, the pretty boy was a very, very experienced fighter despite the fact he wasn't even thirty yet. As Zael swung at the raven haired Kage, Ruri'iro immediately performed a single, one handed seal, his body disappearing in a small flurry of snow, reappearing a few feet away. The young Kage then sighed, his pretty green eyes glaring at Zael, "You have no idea who you just tried to punch do you?"

With that, Ruri'iro formed a couple quick handseals, Ruri'iro only muttered, "Water Release: Wild Water Waves." His cheeks then puffed up and he held two of his fingers up, water gushing from his mouth like a waterfall all headed towards Zael. There was a reason why he was doing this: if he hit Zael, great. If not, at least the stage is set for Ruri'iro's next act. He continuously pumped water from his mouth for a couple of seconds before he stopped the technique. Now there should be enough water for any techniques he needed to use.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

What followed next was surprising to Zael. He expected the woman/man to stagger back in pain and possibly cry. Nothing of the sort happened. Actually, when his head cleared up again, he found that he had punched through nothing but snow and he clenched his teeth to sustain the sudden chill on his knuckles. With wide eyes, the jounin pivotted to the left to find the man performing handseals. That was it. Zael's battle instincts were thrown into action and the frightening eyes he had once used returned. The dull yellow was replaced with the daunting shimmer of gold. The sparks of Zael's liveliness were being rekindled, and with battle, the sparks only got stronger. With a smirk, the jounin reached behind his back to retrieve his katana, Murasame, but when his hand didn't find the hilt, Zael remembered he had thrown the blade on the ground of his apartment a few hours ago.

Not prepared to fight in the least, Zael was barraged with a powerful water sport, sending his body onto the ground. Bystanders, though there weren't a lot, fled from the flood. Zael's body writhed in the cold water that pushed him against a building sturdy enough to hold the wild liquid. With the strength of many men, Zael forced his feet to steady on the ground and hoisted himself up from the rushing water. He took in air as if it were his last hope of survival. He was thoroughly soaked to the bone and his hair was plastered on his forehead. Zael used the building that had stopped his tumbling as a support mechinism until the water had stopped gushing from the man's mouth.

Zael was screwed. He had left Murasame back at his house and without it, he would have to rely only on his jutsu. Zael, even from way back when, was not skilled in jutsu techniques. He always had a terribly hard time concentrating on his chakra and as such, cannot perform many jutsu. Zael looked up to glare viciously at his opponent, but found a pair of determined green eyes. However, hidden behind that determination was kindness. Zael was beginning, that's right, beginning, to get really pissed off. That damn man was far too similar to Mitsuba. The man was mocking him. Mocking him. The whole damn world was mocking him. It toyed with his feelings and stepped on his frail, used heart. Zael was going to kill him. Zael was certainly going to kill this man that was mocking him. Zael's eyes changed dramatically; they were wild and fierce and completely and utterly out of control.

Zael performed a series of handseals and boomed, "Lightning Release: Fist Slam!" Zael spread his arms away from him and up in the air, as to not touch the water rising at his thighs. His fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. A few sparks lit from his hands, and soon tiny bolts of electricity, and the chakra kept piling and piling onto his hands until his fists were encased in a layer of dangerously, possibly fatal, electricity. Without performing handseals, Zael used the Body Flicker Technique and disappeared in a gust of wind. Within a second, he had reappeared in the air directly behind his opponent.

Time slowed to a crawl as he reappeared in the air directly behind his opponent. His expression became unreadable; wild, calm, insane, and strategic all in one. However, his eyes were what gave his true feelings away. This was the thing about Zael. He could always play it tough and put on a cool front, but those who know him well enough could get one look at his eyes and be able to know exactly what he's thinking. In this case, Zael was thinking of nothing but to kill the man who reminded him of Mitsuba.

With only the sound of the buzzing and sparking electricity at his fists, Zael spread his arms like an eagle and snapped them downward, together, on either side of the man's head. It was quite obvious at that point that Zael intended to kill his opponent.

Ruri'iro smirked as he hit his opponent with the torrent of water. He was surprised though by the strength of the man as he tried to rise up to his feet despite the rushing water. As he made his movements to use a jutsu, Ruri'iro did the same, a one handed seal as he gracefully fell to the ground. A block of ice suddenly appeared under his falling body which then formed into a large swan that was strong enough to stay aloft despite his light weight. When Zael made his move, reappearing behind him and moved to punch Ruri'iro, the swan swiftly barrel rolled and presented its torso in the way of Zael's attack. Both fists shattered the swan into many pieces, and Ruri'iro fell again, rolling and sticking the landing back on the streets. He knew that the streets were barren now because the bystanders knew that when ninjutsu was being thrown around, it's best not to be in the area.

Ruri'iro could only sense hate coming from Zael. Not because Ruri'iro was a sensor type ninja, it was just the way the man looked at the Kage, like he hated him, the village, the world even. It touched Ruri'iro's heart that one soul could harbor so much anger at the world. It brought a small tear to his eye. But now he had to concentrate on the fight at hand. He can talk to him later when he is exhausted and more receptive to kind words. He formed a few one handed handseals and then stomped the wet ground under him, "Ice Release: Ice Shuriken" he said, the air around him forming several shuriken like formations of ice that immediately were shot straight at the airborne Zael.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael's hands clamped down upon an ice sculpture and shattered it, however, the chill from the ice made Zael's electricty-consumed hands burn. Being airborne when a barrage of ice shuriken were coming straight at him certainly wasn't going to end well. In his right mind, Zael would've had a number of options; he could use the energy from lightning to propel himself in a different direction, or he could've used Earth Release Jutsu to simply block the attack. But all Zael thought of was the consuming eyes of Mitsuba, staring direcly at him from beyond the grave. Dodging was the last thing on his mind when ice shuriken made numerous cuts on his body and clothes.

By the end of the attack, Zael lost to gravity and landed in the flood. His clothes were ripped in different places, there were cuts and slashes on his face and hands, but the worst to see was that there were many ice shuriken lodged in his body, mainly his torso. The stinging pain of a thousand needles of ice were ripping through Zael's body and tore the oxygen out of his lungs, forcing him to breathe heavily despite having not worked very hard at all. Having just performed a jutsu, Zael knew his opponent would be less flexible. In an instant decision, Zael thrusted his palms into the flood, eletricuting the water. The sudden attack was so unexpected, Zael knew it must've done something to injured his opponent, though he could only hope.

The attack also had a very important flaw; Zael was eletricuting himself as well. He gnawed his teeth with wide, furious eyes, but didn't make any sound as the bolts of ten thousand watts tore through his body relentlessly. Thankfully, he wouldn't be as affected. He was used to lightning, having electricuted himself times before, but the water had increased the power ten-fold, making it much, much more painful. It made Zael's midnight black hair stand spiked up and his pupils shrunk in pain. He was having a damn hard time killing Mitsuba's impersonator, but the deed would be done. Zael's sanity depended on it.

Chakra: 7/8ths full

He was right, Ruri'iro was pretty much stuck where he was. He didn't have time to dodge so when Zael electrocuted the water, Ruri'iro was hit directly by the attack. His body tightened up, nerves overloaded by the strange discharges he was forced to endure. He even cried out in pain for a short bit before finally the electricity stopped torturing him. For a few moments, the Kage stood there, slack jawed and shocked (literally and emotionally) at the fact that this man was insane enough to hurt himself for the sake of hurting him. But such shock soon fade away when Ruri'iro's eyes fell once again on Zael.

The next thing Zael would notice was the fact that the air around the Kage got a lot colder. As if Ruri'iro's stare was enough to freeze water solid. Which is precisely what happened. The ice creeped towards Zael at an accelerated rate while Ruri'iro stepped on it as if it was just regular flooring. As an extremely strong ninja and master of Hyoton, or Ice Release, he had powerful chakra, to the point that he could cause environmental effects around his immediate surroundings just by an exertion of his chakra.

He came closer and closer to Zael, Ruri'iro unsheathed both of his fans and sweeped his hands up, carving out two large sized blocks of ice that immediately formed into the shapes of snow leopards. Both of them immediately were at Ruri'iro's side as the three slowly advanced towards Zael. Ruri'iro has had enough playing around with this man, Zael will find that behind every beauty, there is a beast waiting to be freed from it's cage.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael was breathless by now. His hands were shaking and red, having been burned directly from the collision of water and lightning. The pain that racked his body was numb with mental overload. His shimmering gold eyes wanted nothing more than to rip apart the man that continued to mock him and paid no mind to the intense pain of the ice shuriken still lodged in his torso and thighs. Zael wasn't skilled in jutsu, that much was conspicuous. If only he had Murasame with him, the fight would've been a different story. But perhaps Zael's immense strength and endurance could pull him through. With a bout of energy, he charged forward through the water.

However, he suddenly froze mid-run. He strained and strained, very much like a rabid dog held by chains. He looked down to find that his legs, from mid-thighs down, had been frozen in the curiously frozen water. At first, it was cold and he could feel some excess water seep through his pants. But quite soon, it began to feel warm. If Zael was in his right mind, he would've realized frostbite was setting in, but he wasn't, so concerned thoughts ceased to exist. Frustrated, Zael looked up to find the man walking towards him with two moving ice sculptures at his side and two offensive fans in place to attack. It all seemed pretty hopeless, but not to Zael. He grew up in Snow Village wars. Battle was a second part of him. Killing almost consumed him.

Zael performed hand seals and instead of both hands, chakra was focused only on one. Zael didn't claim it to be, but this technique was named Zeus. Because chakra only had to be focused on one hand, the electricity's power surrounding it peaked to what a natural occurrence of lightning would bring. Zael let out a battle cry and striked the ice surrounding his legs with a full-force, open-palmed attack. Zael's strength played an important role and revealed how truly strong the man was when the ice around him shattered into big pieces of ice. There was a bit of recoil that came with the attack, but Zael stood his ground. Not for very long, however. Something close to frostbite had attacked Zael's legs and his legs have way weakly, making him crash onto some ice shards.

Zael currently resided in a large enough hole in the ice for his body to lay flat in, but a three-foot wall of ice surrounded him, and his opponent was casually walking over. Zael lay breathlessly on the ground, finding each breath more painful than the last. Having collapsed on his stomach, he accidentally pushed the ice shuriken further into his body and soon enough, a puddle of blood grew beneath his limp figure. His eyes lost their shimmer, but he was a crazy, determined fool. Grunting in pain, he pushed his upper body up with his red hands. He fell back to the ground weakly, finding he couldn't move his legs. Hell, he couldn't feel his legs or his hands. Even though he was free from the ice, he wasn't able to move. With his head turned to the side, Zael desperately fought for breath as a couple of his ribs were broken, restricting his lungs.

Now it all really depended on what his opponent would do next. If the man got close enough, Zael would attack with whatever strength he had left, but if he didn't get closer than arms length, Zael was helpless. And this fact pissed him off more than anything.
