Quote: For whatever reason, you are on Eowyn. Perhaps you have come looking for Kiandri or Firani Dragons to kill, perhaps you have come to steal Drakein eggs, or maybe you are just exploring this dry land.
As you wander the desert you spot a strange cave entrance in the side of a sand dune. When you go to investigate you can see that after the tunnel goes down somewhat there is a stone door engraved with Drakein figures.
If you knock on the door continue reading, otherwise leave and do not continue this adventure.
You hear a grumbling and muttering form the other side as whoever lives here comes to open the door.
Before you stands a strange reptilian looking man. He looks more dragon than man, and behind his back float two ethereal skulls.
If you have a bonded with you, he attacks and you must flee before his power! He does not condone Magescians who enslave his people. You must quit or choose a different path. If there are no Bonded with you, then continue reading.
"What d'ya want?" he growls grumpily,
“I’ve got things to do and no time for foolish games." he pauses and thinks for a moment. "Actually, on second thought...I do have a use for you." He grins malevolently and reaches out to grab your arm and drag you into his lair. His room has spikes hanging from the ceiling, fur rugs cover his floors and trophies line his walls. There are no chairs, only large cushions and low tables in the room.
"I need three ingredients for an enchantment I'm creating. And you, fool, will get them for me! I haven't the time for these pitiful errands...there is a situation that requires my attention to be here. If you wish to leave here alive you will do as I say; otherwise, I'll have my minions hunt you down and you don't want to know what they'll do." he says as he gestures to the floating skulls behind him.
"Just so you know, I am not completely heartless. If you complete the tasks I have in store for you, I'll let you live and give you a Dragon Orb...possibly even a Dragon's Tear as well for your efforts." he states as he smirks cruelly at you.
Go to Task 1. She had expressed an interest in exploring on her own today, and after a three minute lecture on Orderite raiders and safety, Leyn had let her go. He had been feeling under the weather lately—an odd pain in his head—and Eanah was fairly certain he had only really been arguing for the sake of doing so anyway. Once she had him settled on his pallet, he seemed perfectly content to rub at Thren's eye ridges and tell him what a magnificent beast he was. It was not a surprise to see that the drakein didn't seem to mind staying behind either.
With plenty of water and a snack packed in her satchel, Eanah set out across the desert early, climbing out of the hidden depression in the sands where they'd made camp and hurrying away from the sanctuary before she could be spotted. They knew it was a risk to come and go this way, but neither Leyn nor herself were particularly strong with cloaking magic, so keeping their temporary home truly invisible was not an option. Once she was clear of the tent, she turned her back to the sun and began to walk.
It didn't take long for Eanah to find something of interest. The cavern entrance in front of her should not have been there. It gaped squarely in the middle of a wind tunnel that blew sand at it at a near constant rate, yet it was as clear as if the air around it had been still. The temptation to investigate was too strong, despite the possible danger. Several minutes later, the Oblivionite stood in front of a door marked with symbols unlike any she had ever seen. What was this place?
Eanah hesitated, not due to fear, although there was a twinge of that. Mostly she hesitated because the door had no knob.
"Hello?" she said. She knocked, the heavy stone muffling the rapping of her knuckles. Nothing.
The girl waited, arms eventually crossing across her chest as she sighed in irritation. She was just about ready to turn and go when she heard muttering coming from somewhere in front of her. How was that possible?
She had little time to ponder how it was that she was able to hear what should have been barely audible grumbling from behind a door made of stone before an odd, sinuous, scaled man pulled that door open and demanded to know what she wanted.
"I..." she began, forced into silence by the creature's continued chatter. This had been a mistake. Eanah's brows furrowed and she sneered as she began to turn away. Whoever this mad snake man was, he didn't deserve her time no matter how—
"Hey," the Oblivionite breathed as the man dragged her inside. First she was useless and now she was good enough to be an... errand girl? Wonderful. At least he had an interesting house. Lab. Whatever.
She listened to his threatening words intently, eyeing the door frequently once he'd drawn attention to those ominous floating skulls. Though the promise of treasure intrigued the girl, she still felt as though she was in danger the longer she stuck around.

Quote: Task One
He demands you bring back some Dark Sand from around the Twilight Pillar.
This will take IC time to get there and back. Feel free to RP whatever adventures or misadventures you have along the way.
Roll 1d100. 1-20: Failure! You get the sand but as you go back to Rhazes, disaster strikes and the container is broken and the sand blows away in the wind. Go to Failure.
21-99: Success! You get the sand and return to Rhazes. You may choose to give the sand to him or say you failed (if you do this you keep the sand). Go to Success if you give it to him. Go to Failure if you keep it.
100: You get 2 of the item! You may choose to keep them both or give one to Rhazes. Go to Success if you give one to him. Go to Failure if you keep both. "You're going where?"
She had hurried back to the tent immediately after the drakein had let her go, silently packing what she needed for her trip while Leyn napped. It was only when she tried to leave again with her destination clearly in mind that Thren whined quite pathetically and hurried to her side, pushing his nose against her leg and looking up at her as if he would die if she left. When Leyn had finally found his feet and had moved to block her way, he looked nearly as pathetic. This was what she had been trying to avoid.
"I'll be back in a couple of days," she replied. "A week at most. And I'll be going home. It's perfectly safe." She reached out and tentatively drew her fingers down the length of Leyn's arm, pulling them back and clutching her own when she seemed to realize what she was doing. "And I can't bring you, Thren. Even though Soudul is our home, well, there aren't many drakein around." She looked back up at Leyn. "Stay here and recover your strength. You'll both be fine. And so will I."
In the end, her tutor had reluctantly agreed to remain behind. The pain in his head was still too great, though he downplayed it when she asked. This temporary affliction he suffered from was rare in her people, but not unheard of. Eanah was determined not to worry.
She set out no more than an hour later, landing on Soudul that evening. It felt strange to be home again after so long. She had never thought it would be possible to become used to the endless sand and blistering heat of Eowyn, but it seemed she was doing so without difficulty. The sharp chill in the evenings was a contrast she had yet to grow accustomed to, but if her progress so far was any indication, she would eventually.
Four cart rides, three overnight stays, and a long trek across the hot sands later, Eanah had returned to the desert cave with a small vial of sand from the Twilight Pillar.
The drakein seemed pleased. Then he sent her back to Soudul.

Quote: Task Two
He laughs and sends you all the way back to Soudul with the task of going to Lake Koralifel and bring back some of its dark waters.

This will take IC time to get there and back. Feel free to RP whatever adventures or misadventures you have along the way.
Roll 1d100. 1-20: Failure! You get the water but as you go back to Rhazes, disaster strikes and the container is broken and the water drains away into the ground. Go to Failure.
21-99: Success! You get the water and return to Rhazes. You may choose to give the water to him or say you failed (if you do this you keep the water). Go to Success if you give it to him. Go to Failure if you keep it.
100: You get 2 of the item! You may choose to keep them both or give one to Rhazes. Go to Success if you give one to him. Go to Failure if you keep both. Eanah didn't even stop back at the tent this time, she just picked up a few necessities at the dock and took a ship back home. Thankfully, there was a regular shuttle to Koralifel, unlike the stupidly tourist unfriendly Twilight Pillar, and she was able to make it back to Eowyn in a little less than forty-eight hours.
This time, the creature in the desert gave her a task much closer to where she was staying now than back on her home isle. She nodded her acceptance, then made her way back to the tent. At least this time she'd get a good night's sleep before she began her next task.

Quote: Task Three
For his last task he tells you to go out into the desert and find the strange construction site that the Orderites have been working at. He tells you that near the site a very special herb grows that he wants you to pick. The herb is small, dark green, and has very spiky stem with spiky leaves at it's top. It's called Thistlethorn.

This will take IC time to get there and back. Feel free to RP whatever adventures or misadventures you have along the way.
Rol 1d100. 1-20: Failure! You search but can’t find the herb. Go to Failure.
21-99: Success! You find the herb and return to Rhazes. You may choose to give the plant to him or say you failed (if you do this you keep the spiky herb). Go to Success if you give it to him. Go to Failure if you keep it.
100: You get 2 of the item! You may choose to keep them both or give one to Rhazes. Go to Success if you give one to him. Go to Failure if you keep both. She awoke to a strange prickly sensation running across the back of her neck, and when she sat up and turned to face Leyn, she learned its cause. He was already awake, sitting with his back against one of his packs, and he was looking at her.
Normally, that was little cause for alarm. Leyn looked at her all the time. What made this time different from the others was the faint glow emanating from the crack in his forehead and the eerie feel of his gaze on her skin. She was probably just imagining things. Eanah knew it was his third eye—a gift from Soudana. That didn't make it any less creepy.
"S... sorry," he said, blinking his usual set of hollow sockets. He sat up slightly, the movement attracting Thren from Eanah's bedroll to her tutor's. Leyn rubbed at the drakein's head absently as he continued. "I find myself just... mindlessly staring sometimes. Everything looks so..." His voice trailed off and didn't seem as though it would be quick to return. Eanah swallowed, pushing herself up to her knees and then her feet.
"I have one last errand to run, but then I will be free." And I'm never going back to that cave again. She didn't actually say that last part, and to her credit, it wasn't even implied by her tone. Eanah wanted this all to be over. She longed to go back to the simple life she had been living here, the one that didn't include drakein that walked on two legs and threatened to send spectral skulls to exact revenge for poorly done work she hadn't even asked for. But she couldn't tell Leyn any of that. Not now. He would insist upon seeing the creature himself and she couldn't allow that. This was her problem, and she had almost solved it.
She pulled her pale cloak over her hastily-donned dress and began the long process of opening the exit of their tent. Before she stepped through, she turned to Leyn and said, "I hope you'll stop... staring at things long enough to eat." She didn't wait for his response, pulling the drawstrings shut again and hurrying out into the blinding sand.

Quote: Failure Rhazes throws his hands up in disgust, he should have just gone himself. Go to Final.
Final If Rhazes only received 2 out of 3 items then you receive an Aiskala Orb instead and he sighs and says while useful, you aren’t worth more of his time than he has already given you. He kicks you out after you have been yelled at or gotten your reward. Rhazes hadn't given her more than a vague direction to head in and some nonsense about the sun, so Eanah never did find the Orderites she was looking for. She approached the drakein's cave filled with defiant anger over having had her time wasted, but in the end, her ire wasn't necessary. He had washed his hands of her, sending her on her way with a muttered insult. Eanah was so glad to be rid of the beast that she didn't fight back.
She made her way across the sands once again, and when she reached the tent, she was surprised to find Leyn waiting for her outside. He stood motionless and stiff-backed in front of the structure, but when she smiled faintly and waved, his posture went slack and he grinned in return.
"You just decided to wait out here all morning?" she said once she got close enough to be heard.
"No... I, well, I could see you coming. From inside."
She didn't have much time to ponder the meaning of his words before Thren came running out from behind the tent and made a beeline for her. Eanah's smile grew even wider and she knelt to meet him, nearly getting bowled over by the drakein as he greeted her.
"We should head inside," she said, casting a particularly suspicious glance behind her that had Leyn following along without question. Once they were safe in the tent, Eanah directed him to turn away as she changed into an outfit more suitable for lounging around and took a seat, patting the space next to her in an invitation for Thren.
"Feeling better?"
"Yes. Much. Just in time for your return. You are staying with us this time, right?"
"About that. I..."
"You don't have to explain. I know..."
"Leyn. You don't know anything."
Normally such a statement would have triggered a near-immediate comeback, but something in her tone must have given Leyn pause. He took a seat nearby instead, gesturing at her to continue.
"I wasn't looking to be alone or sow my wild oats or anything like that," she began. "I was taking a walk. I was taking a walk in the desert and I found a cave. The... person inside asked me to retrieve some items for him and I couldn't very well tell him no."
Leyn smirked. "Why not?"
"He told me he was drakein for one, and I believe him. His face..." She gestured toward her own. "He walked on two legs, but he looked like half a dragon. Once I agreed to help him he went off, ranting about the enslavement of his people and how he would kill anyone who had bonded..."
Although Eanah had kept her voice calm and level, Thren let out a thin, unhappy whine, burrowing his head in the blankets next to him. She supposed the sorts of things that crossed her mind when the subject of murder arose might have been a little upsetting.
"Shh. It's okay." For some reason she found comforting the baby drakein easier than feigning sympathy for her own kind. She tried not to think about it.
"Do you think Thren will end up that way someday?" Leyn leaned forward, his new third eye intent on her. There was something in his tone that a part of her thought to question, but the rest of her... She frowned, the prickly feeling of being watched creeping up her spine again.
"Your eye."
"Hmm? What about it?"
Eanah sighed. She knew she should be polite, that it was something to be proud of, but she couldn't help how uneasy it made her. She felt as though it could see everything. It measured her, storing away information that could be used against her someday.
"I don't like it."
He grinned as though he had meant to hold it in, but he didn't try to stop himself once he got to laughing.
"You don't... like it? That's like saying you don't like my arm or my ears." Leyn sat back again, the smile never leaving his face. Eanah wanted to smack it off.
"It's not like that at all! You didn't grow a new arm that grabs things all by itself and strangles them in the night!"
"My eye strangles you?"
"It knows more than it should."
"Listen to yourself, Eanah."
"Why do you stare at everything so much now? What do you see?"
Leyn looked away, his smile shifting from mockery to wistfulness. "I see more than I ever have."
She frowned, crossing her arms. When she spoke, her voice was hard and small. "Then it is showing you false visions."
They were silent for a time, the only sounds in the tent Thren's cheerful mutters and chirps. Finally, Leyn sighed and spoke.
"Would you like to see it?"
"I can see it from here."
"I meant closer than that. It's just like an Orderite's eye, from what I can tell, except..."
"Except it glows and makes my skin crawl."
"You can...?"
"Fine." She pushed herself forward onto her hands and knees. "Stay there. I'm coming to you." Eanah stood. "I mean it. Don't move."
Leyn raised his hands slightly in mock defeat, but he did as she asked and remained where he had been, reclined against their packs. Eanah approached cautiously, dropping back to her knees when she got close enough to reach him.
"Don't... poke it."
"I'm not going to poke your eye."
"I figured as much, I just..."
"Shh." She did end up poking at his eye, but instead of unleashing a horrible creature or enthralling curse, Leyn just sighed and lightly smacked her hand.
By the time Eanah had concluded her examination, the eye had stopped glowing and she felt a great deal more comfortable with the whole situation. Not as comfortable as she once had been, but it would have to do for now.
"All right?"
"Yes. I still don't like it, but I am confident it will not harm us."
"Good."
"First off, it's so small..."
"Hey."
Eanah sat back. Now it was her turn to grin. "It's a fine eye. Very scary."
Leyn snorted. "If we're done here, we should probably spend some time practicing harnessing..."
"Oh!" She scooted her way over to her bag and pulled out a softly whirling Aiskala orb, quickly transferring it to the small box where she'd hidden her other souls. "The drakein wasn't entirely displeased with me, I suppose."
Her tutor retrieved his scepter and rose smoothly to his feet, peering over her shoulder into the box.
"Well. That's something at least."
