So I was just wondering how often you all get in "religious funks".
For a while I was really into learning about the Roman Way and was constantly doing research and did all my prayers and rituals. 2 days ago was the first time I had done a prayer in a couple of months and I haven't done any of the monthly rituals in a while either.
I ended up losing my job and have been unemployed for almost a month. Part of me thinks these bad things have been happening because the Gods are angry I haven't been honoring them lately. I've been trying to get back into it but I'm just having a hard time and my heart isn't in it when I do do it so I feel that's being disrespectful as well.
Anyways, was wondering who else has had this happen before and what you did to get out of it and your story with it. Did you find your way back? Still having issues? Realize that it meant something else?

I'm sort of in one at the moment. I've been dealing with mental health stuff so it's an understandable lull, but I've also been dragging my feet. I have doubts and worries and fears of disappointing. I think they're not uncommon and that they happen every so often.

Like San said, we all have those times, and there are a lot of things that can contribute to them. In some cases, it helps to just put more effort in, even if you're not really feeling it. Sometimes you just need to keep plugging away vaguely until the clouds clear.

I'm with San and Raven that it does happen. Happens to me all the time *hint hint school and other personal things* And I also have that fear of disappointment. But when I do finally get a chance to talk to Them I get some form of welcome back (depending on who answers)

I think my issue may be because I still haven't felt that "connection" with the Gods. I go about the orthopraxic work of it all to make them happy but I don't really get anything out of it myself.

Salmenella I think my issue may be because I still haven't felt that "connection" with the Gods. I go about the orthopraxic work of it all to make them happy but I don't really get anything out of it myself. I had that for a looong time. Everyone around me seemed to have such strong connections with and experiences of their Gods. I hadn't felt anything like that so I felt like I was going through the motions. It was kind of discouraging. however, I really liked the culture and practices, and the history of my path so I kept at it for that. I was largely getting my fulfillment out of just to world of it, so to speak. Eventually somthing came through in a big way. Still, I actually know people who've never experienced a connection with Deity in the way you're thinking. Regardless, they love and follow their paths for their own reasons. It can really work either way.

Last night was the first time ever I had a dream having to do with the gods (that I can remember). I was making an offering to the gods and spirits. The Lars, Manes, Mother Vesta, Minerva..then I added in Odin and Thor and felt all warm and fuzzy during the whole offering.

Realize that it meant something else? I've been in religious funks before. What typically brings me back is either exposure to nature by living in it (camping, having woods around and taking walks, ect), doing an instinctive ritual (I've developed three ritual styles in a few instinctive sessions for spur of the moment or much needed healing/purification rituals), or a break down where I feel all I can do is turn to the Gods and my practices to try and get back in track. Sometimes it is actually a combination of one or more of those three things I listed. Right now I have a few instinctive/inspired rituals I want to do that are getting me back into my practice. It is related to my mental health treatment.

I hope you feel like you can start developing connections with the Gods now. Have you asked for them to have a relationship with you/ have you opened yourself up for deities to answer?

A bit here and there but not a whole lot other than rituals done 3 times a month and prayers twice a day. I've tried meditating but I kind of suck at it and other than that I really don't know HOW to open up lol

Been doing some research today on Odin and Thor since I really don't know that much about them, which is why it was a bit confusing in the dream. If anyone has links and resources I will love you forever!
