Leviathan was not accustomed to this new development in her life.
She woke beside a dragon, Jarek, and was reminded of the fact that they were now a pair. No, not the romantic kind, but a pair nonetheless. He was her guard, she was the protected. She had a body-guard now, one who could possibly even live the hundreds of years she could. She had never even remotely had a friend (if she didn't include the aquatic life that seemed to worship her), now she had a loyal partner to stay by her side wherever she went. What was she to make of this? Was she.... Happy? Her? The woman who never showed any emotion because she didn't know how? The petite legend who was so accustomed to being alone? Maybe she was....
Her limbs stretched as she lifted herself up, allowing her body to crack. She wasn't sure if Jarek was awake, though the woman didn't ask. Instead she glanced towards her familiar watery home, wondering if she'd ever return. Now that she had Jarek she doubted she'd spend most of her days in the water. The dragon may get uncomfortable with that and while she wasn't one to show emotions she still understood them on a basic level. She did not like making others unhappy. Besides, it'd be a lie to say she wasn't curious about Jarek and the world. She wasn't quite ready to return to her long slumber or her familiar home. Perhaps she was ready to venture forth and see the world she had never known?

Somehow everything was different, and yet he got the feeling that things always stayed the same. Here he was with another charge, a beautiful being, youthful despite her true age, innocent, unable to sense the danger surrounding her everyday life; she needed his protection, this special being. She was not a princess, not emotional and warm, and she wasn't fragile, locked up in some tower until she could play her role as savior, but somehow he still got the feeling that he was meant to be by her side just as he had been born into his role as a bodyguard to the princess. This was his duty now, to make sure she could live the life she wanted, choose whatever path she wished, something his former charge had never been able to do. This time around, he would make sure this special being had the happiness she deserved, and he hoped that now he would not have to leave, but that was for the universe to decide, he had no time to think of such things now.
He had spent the night by her side, an idea that was at once unsettling to his mind trained to keep away during times of weakness, but not altogether unappealing. He had learned long ago how to sleep with one eye open so to speak, his eyes closed, but his senses aware of every small movement in a reasonable radius. As soon as he felt Leviathan lift herself from the sand, his eyes opened and began to track her every move, his own body emerging from its sandy crater and allowing the grains to shift off his sleek scales. "My lady, if you wish to swim you may do so for awhile. I can fly over you if necessary. Otherwise," he motioned towards the place where sand turned into grass and dirt, "we can start our journey at once." He gave a little bow of the head and closed his eyes in respect, "As always, the choice is yours." So it would be, as long as she wished it.

Leviathan rose her head when Jarek began to stir. She had begun to brush sand off her form, swiftly dragging her tail under her when done. Her eyes flicked quietly to view the waters, narrowing gently. Go for a swim? It may be her last time for another few years to touch the waters, but she doubted there wouldn't be ponds elsewhere. She was the guardian of the oceans, if anything happened she would know immediately. It was the purpose of her existence, after all. She had lived under the waters and slept within it for so long, she didn't need to swim to remember its feeling. She was eager to explore the land she hadn't truly touched since her battle with the guardian of earth.
"We can begin now." She looked up at Jarek with raised ears, her blank face not even hinting at the confusion she was feeling right this moment. "Could you lead the way, perhaps?" She wasn't even sure where to begin. She was so used to never truly going past this beach, and she certainly didn't remember the land from the many years ago when she had explored. Her best chance was to rely on the one who knew the earth better than she did.

Jarek opened his eyes as she spoke, calm and reserved, there was a sense that underneath his tame demeanor was a glare that could pierce through walls, a fierce look that threatened to cut through flesh. He gave a grunt of recognition and deepened his bow before lifting his head and holding it high, his gaze turning at once to the bank that marked the beginning of their journey. "I would have it no other way, my lady. Danger must be faced head on." Sniffing at the air, he turned his head this way and that before blowing a thin line of smoke from his nostrils and moving forward, his strides lengthy but even, his head turned back slightly to take in the pace of his charge in order to match her. "We shall skirt the lands beyond the forest and then move into the center to determine what type of lodgings they keep within. Does that sound like a good idea to you, Lady Leviathan?"
He stepped then onto the grass and moved slowly past the trees, sidestepping a few directly in his path, tapping his tail against the trunk when he did so in order to alert Leviathan. "Watch your step, miss." His eyes searched for the light at the edge of the treeline, following it with precision despite having to change his course with every inconveniently placed trunk. Quite a few times he had to slow his pace in order to hold back a pesky branch so that his companion might pass safely, gauging her expression then in order to determine whether the pace was too fast for her. After snapping a particularly bothersome branch, he stopped in his tracks and moved his arm outwards as if urging her to move ahead of him. "Just beyond that next line of trees, my lady, that is whether the flat lands lie. I think you should be the first to view it. I will be right behind you."

"Yes." Leviathan responded to the first question, eyes flicking about as they began their walk. Lodgings. She doubted there would be an ocean within their destination. Did this mean she would sleep outside of water for once? The ground? What did others sleep on? She had never truly thought about it, though last night gave her an idea, somewhat. She currently believed everyone slept on the ground, which wasn't entirely comfortable to be honest. How could people do that continuously? If only they tried sleeping in an underwater temple.... They'd see how cozy it was!
She was deep in thought, nearly tripping. Her guardians warning saved her feet, glancing down just in time and leaping over a root gracefully. She may be a water dweller, but the legend was graceful on land as well. Usually. Bring snow or ice into the mix and she might go tumbling. Or maybe rocks... Her companion was doing a magnificent job of removing any threatening branches so she only had to focus on the ground for the time being.
His voice interrupted her focus, ears raising as a blank face raised to view him. She glanced towards where his arm was out reached, nodding firmly.
"Oh. Okay." She seemed mildly nervous, a brief emotion that was quickly suppressed as she pushed forward. Padding up to where he was and finally in-front of the male, eyes taking in the sight of....

A large field spread out before the two travelers, almost as far as the eye could see, though a few small house were littered about on the horizon. The tall grasses were almost up to their shoulders in some places, with wildflowers scattered about in patches, their deep reds and bright purples providing a shocking contrast to the dull yellows of the populous plant life. There was a path which had been cleared out directly to the right of them, and as Jarek peered cautiously down the makeshift corridor, he could make out a line of brown shoots which he took to be cat tails. Sure enough, as he closed his eyes and moved his ears forward, he could make out the sound of running water, likely a small stream of some sort that could prove to be a gathering place for small animals and even some solitary foxes. "I think it would be best for us to follow this path, my lady. We can't afford to limit our vision of what's beneath or beside us, or become distracted by the grasses rubbing against our skin, as it may cause irritation. Of course, then we run the risk of coming across stray foxes, but you are well aware of my ability to protect you."
He was rather impressed by Leviathan's grace and instinct, but he didn't have the time to wonder at her natural abilities. Jarek wanted to find lodgings before the sun set on the far horizon, for even though he had gotten used to sleeping on the ground and in abandoned burrows which he dug out to account for his large size, the idea of finding a warm bed to sleep in for a night or two was very appealing to him. "We are headed towards the horizon, there we should find some lodgings, hopefully some shops as well so that we may gather supplies. I wish to explore the surrounding lands before I decide whether or not it is safe to extend our stay in this place." He turned his attention to the woman then, realizing that he was not simply traveling with his fellow soldiers back home. "Does the lady have anything to add? If there is something else you wish to do, please let me know. This is your first exploration, after all. I do not wish to overwork you."

Levi glanced up as he spoke, face staying as stiff as it always had. Protect? Had he not seen her power? Why did this man want to protect her so much? She was the goddess of the sea, or so the water pokemon local to her home loved to call her. She was Kyogre. Leviathan. She was not a princess with no abilities.
Yet.... the woman liked it, in a way. It felt nice to not be seen as someone untouchable. Yes, he was her guard, but he didn't fear speaking to her or communicating. He spent his day beside her. She wasn't alone, for once, and while she knew she'd nap for hundreds of years if placed back in her home it was just nice having this short time beside someone who wasn't afraid.
So, with a nod and quiet brush of her hand against her cheek to remove the petal that had fluttered against it. Suddenly, she glanced up, her strange eyes flickering with a brief emotion. Curiosity. Lodgings. What was that? Was it somewhere to rest? It must be, right? It sounded like lounge, and she was smart enough to guess that if he wanted shops to gather supplies he probably wanted somewhere safe to rest. Glancing up at him, the woman shook her head gently.
"What is a lodging?" She questioned, making a step forward to show she was fine with walking and talking. She wanted to get there faster, just to see the new sights. Shops? She knew the word, but never had she seen one!

It was instinct that drove him, some sort of primal ideology that had been instilled into the minds of his ancestors hundreds of years ago, and still remained relevant in his thoughts today; the belief that it was his job to protect the "weaker" gender. He was raised with that mindset, that he must sacrifice his life for his people, for the women who could not fight, or at least did not have a chance at winning. This female, though he knew quite well that she was capable of great acts of destruction, had a well-known weakness that made her a target for violence, and this sparked him to action. His training had always taught him to follow his gut, and what was nagging at him now, this primal need to fight for a damsel in distress, simply could not be ignored. He was a knight. A guardian. A dragon who had made a promise to protect and serve.
His eyes gazed deep into hers, grabbing at any emotion he could find there, no matter how brief, and attempting to make sense of what she was thinking. His job now was to get to know his charge so that he could begin to predict her actions, to spot signs of fear, weakness, or agitation. It would help him later on, so that if ever someone were to initiate an attack, he could glance at her expression and know whether or not she knew to run and hide. The only problem was, she would have to understand how /he/ communicated as well, but Leviathan seemed quite perceptive, and they could exercise this ability at a later date. Her question made him pause for a moment so that when he regained his composure, he had to stride forward in order to match her pace after falling behind. "A lodging is a place of rest and recuperation. Somewhere we might spend a night on real beds, with mattresses of foam and blankets of cotton. Usually they provide meals as well, along with somewhere to store personal items, but I do not believe we will be making use of those options." This woman really knew nothing of the outside world; Jarek only hoped this sudden immersion wouldn't leave her feeling overwhelmed.

Her head raised as he seemed to gaze at her. His eyes were searching, causing a curious and unsettling vibration within her stomach. What was he seeking? What did she have to offer? He was seeking, but why? She didn't have anything to give. It actually made her partially nervous, though it didn't show. No one just gazed at her, mostly because she was viewed as a being unapproachable, or someone not to stare at. It was kind of nice, to be honest. An intimate encounter that seemed ...... calming. He wasn't afraid of her, and he wasn't someone who worshipped her. Yes, he was a guard, and yes, he valued her safety over his own, but she wasn't a god to him.
And that felt good.
Oh. He explained a lodging and her tail flicked once, a sign of curiosity. She wanted to try this. She wanted to lay in a soft mattress. Though, was there no water at all? She needed water...
"Is there water?"
