Eranas

These aren't really a comments or suggestions, but questions seem more appropriate here:

For the purposes of the Tournament, since pokemon are level 10 but can use any move available to them by breeding, can they use any move they can learn naturally through leveling? Since any such move could be theoretically be bred into them,

So it looks like all damaging attacks hit automatically, without the need to roll for hitting? Does that mean there are no missing as well as critical hits, so moves that hit automatically like Swift, or moves that have an increased crit chance like Karate Chop just work like any other damaging attack?

How do moves work that do damage with a chance of an extra effect? For example, Thundershock does damage and also has a 10% chance of paralyzing the target. Or Ancientpower does damage and also has a 10% chance of raising all the user's stats. Do such moves still have a chance for the extra effect?

While I'm at it, how does Reversal work? (The one that does more damage when the user is lower on HP.) Does Seismic Toss still automatically do the same amount of damage as the user's level, regardless of Attack and Defense stats? Does Hidden Power work, and if so, how is the element decided?

I have a bunch of other moves I want to ask about, but I'll start with these. razz

Edit: Here's a suggestion: Perhaps you should make an Attackdex like Extrasensory has done? Since so many attacks have little nuances beyond a singe effect, like straight damage or a status effect.

Love the enthusiasm Mew, but unfortunately we haven't worked on every single attack yet. So we were thinking of making an Attack dex later on.

For now we just want to keep things simple, so no side effects from Normal attacks. Nor is there any STAB. The only effects will be Doubled or halved from type advantages.

We're really trying to focus on main battle mechanics before going into it completely, since we do want people to fight.. and not be discouraged by all the mechanics. It can be quite confusing... And we do need to make a guide.

But for the moves for this beta, They can use Egg moves, or Moves up to level 10 or TM ( Not HM) Moves allowed. . No more than that.

All damaging moves hit automatically... and for the other moves like Seismic Toss instead of rolling the damage it will be directly correlated to their level. So if they're level 10, they don't have to roll a die, it will always be + 10 points. And etc.

However we can't use reversal here yet because it needs to be worked on.

And hidden power can't be worked on yet until we figure out what to do with the random type issue.

OK. Four the tournament, you said to list our movelist in the first post of the battle thread. I assume that's having us select 4 moves to use throughout the battle. Do we use the same movelist throughout the tournament, or may we switch between matches?

Just stick with one moveset.

Does Rollout still gain in power each successive time it hits? (Pichu can learn it by a gen 2 TM or egg move). And does Paralysis work like Attraction, stopping the opponent from moving completely?

Hm.. Yes. So it would basically work like Badly Poison, but you have to roll a die. Odd - Miss, Even - Score.

And Yes it does. For now ( I know Shy was working on something. )

So Rollout has a chance to miss, while other damaging attacks just hit? Can I use it as a normal attack, without letting it increase in power, then?

And now would the damage for it be calculated? Roll 1d10 as normal, add Attack stat, then add how much per successive attack?

What? No. That's letting it increase in power.
This attack would be too strong and is too much of a loophole against other attacks.

So it will only work the way I stated above, as will Ice ball. Since it is technically the same type of attack.

OK. You didn't answer how damage would be calculated, though.

Well it's still going to be The growing attack + Attack points. You don't roll 1d10 for the attack power, you roll it for the chance to hit

So First turn if successive (2 + Attk points)
Secon turn if successive ( 4 + Attk Points)
Third turn if successive ( 6 + attk points)

As in the games, can a pokemon be Attracted and/or Confused at the same time as being effected by a main status effect (Poison, Paralysis, Burn, Frozen)?

@u@ I just got this sudden idea out of nowhere that I'm guessing is sort of Alice in Wonderland inspired lol and wanted to throw this into the guild as a suggestion to consider as an idea to perhaps add to the interesting mixes of concepts and features of the shop:

Maybe upon having also reached a high enough level, explorers can also request at the shrine for the ability to go to and from a gijinka dimension of PE's world and consequently this feature opens the possibilities of gijinka art and alt-art as well as, I think most especially, plots that provide access to more fun, hilarity, bewilderment, creativity, etc? x'3; In my imagination, methinks this could be a newly discovered/unveiled feature in the future where everything is the same except the only gijinkas encountered when 'venturing into the rabbit hole'-so-to-speak starting out when this feature is available are NPCs with high enough levels to be able to access this dimension and then accomplished explorers join the ranks of those knowledgeable. And being a sort of dream world, then breeding wouldn't be possible in this dimension though items can be transported to and from this place.

Edit: Oh, I also unexpectedly just remembered and realized that this idea is kind of like the reverse version of the Mystery Dungeon game's back story of a human becoming a pokemon x'D
