At first the lairs are relatively peaceful. A few human prisoners screaming far below, some alchemists blowing this and that up, artisans fine tuning instruments, a flock of executioners practicing their war cries. Normal, almost serene is it's familiarity. It seemed so long ago that the foun clans lived in harmony. Then, everything changed when the shadowlings attacked. Only a true warrior, a master of their heart can stop them. But when the horsemen needed such a warrior most? They vanished. Yet Medea has discovered new warriors, masters of their heart. Although their skills are great they have a lot to learn before they're ready to save anyone. But, Medea believes that they can save the clans.
Hundreds of shadowlings pour out of a tear in the main hall of the lair, and they don't seem to be stopping anytime soon. While many areas have already been warded against the shadowlings, the main hall remains filled with them. A lingering glance and you think that some of them are larger than others, but that can't be right. Shadowlings after all, are tiny.
You have two options:
Do nothing:
You sit around and literally, cower. You hide, you try to not get too close to the shadowlings. You are absolutely no help and simply watch others, or perhaps surrender to your fate once the shadowlings get tired of their surroundings and find you.
Fight:
Right, why are you cowering anyway? It is time to step up and attack! You get yourself ready, and brace yourself for shadowlings, a lot of shadowlings.

- Shadowlings will attack in phases. There are four phases total. Each one will last APPROXIMATELY 24 OOC hours, or one "round". - After a phase, all your Fear/ Charged attacks reset. Your HP and everything else carries over. - A lot of shadowlings have LIMITED ATTACK ROUNDS so make sure you do not go over the limit of attacks for that round! - When a phase is ready to start, a GM will announce it in this thread along with the OOC RULES FOR THE NEXT PHASE BOSS(ES). IF you have not posted for the previous wave and it is the second wave, you have skipped your last turn. They CANNOT go to the Human World or use Distortion for that month. - Horsemen CANNOT port out of the Sanctuary which means they can't use any resources in the Lair. They can't even go to their Lair abode! - The tug of Insanity becomes stronger: for a whole months Horsemen will begin to feel more paranoid, as if someone is continuously watching them, and whispering to them inane words. WAVE 1 / 4
The area is infested with hundreds of tiny shadowlings, teeming in a thick, unsteady black. They do not seem ravenous quite yet, but they are getting restless, some straying a little too close towards you....

FIGHT!
- Every time you attack you take damage equal to half your attack. - You can take five turns this round! This includes healing/ defending/ using a Fear attack/ special ability/ item as ONE TURN. - Make sure you use the form in the OOC above to calculate everything properly! - Every time you DO ONE DAMAGE you defeat ONE tiny shadowling. Feel free to rp accordingly. - This round will last for APPROXIMATELY 24 OOC hours!
As Ying exited the tent, she felt invigorated by the sight that greeted her. And terrified. No, no wait she was mostly terrified. Yup that was definitely terror.
Then she saw the boil-who-was-not-as-great-as-her-brother being attacked. Ying wouldn't stand for that! Even if he was 2nd place!
"Friend I am coming to help you, just wait please!" she shouted, trying to bat heartless out of the way to go help him. She became so swarmed that eventually she pulled out her bow and shouted, "MOVE, PLEASE!"

As Tseng suspected, the lair was in trouble. And the horseman of conquest spent no time before getting his bow out and moving to attack everything in sight. It was arrow after arrow that he fired out in rapid succession. How else was he supposed to disperse of this threat?
This was just going to be one more mark of glory to his tale of hero ascension.
Of course, he probably should have actually aimed rather than firing randomly. Somehow, not a single arrow hit its mark.

Hearing a voice from behind, Tseng turned to see another Conquest horseman, one he had seen around but not quite acquainted himself with. She had been the one to make those fancy scarves if he recalled correctly. With a twin brother.
"Bah! I could take these on my own, but your aid is graciously accepted!" he said with a bow. His attention did not linger on Ying as there were far too many shadowlings around to really dilly dally. Taking in a deep breath, he turned about face and readied some arrows.
"VICTORIOUS VOLLEY!" he shouted as he plucked off a handful of the beasties.

Ah, the sounds of war, Fai thought as he casually placed himself BEHIND Tseng and the young mare. "Hello, my friends, do continue," he said casually. "I'll willingly heal you when the time comes. Is anyone in need of a healing?" He was looking at the little eating monsters they were fighting with curiosity. "Perhaps you can tell me what's going on? Oh, but if you're too busy, I will figure it out myself."
He started digging through his robes, pulling out a few small bottles and sorting through them as he casually moved so he could see behind him as well. Sorry, Tseng and Ying--Fai's useless until you're closer to dying.

Nergui had left her hut to the hungry mouths of the little beasts that kept appearing out of nowhere, not out of fear. IF they had been appearing there, then surely her home had not been the only place. She had precious few possessions, and none as important to what could be destroyed elsewhere. She made for the lair, sure that their sanctuary must be under attack, and determined to do whatever she could to prevent it's destruction.
There were only a handful of her fellow horsemen gathered as she arrived, and each and every one was doing what they could to destroy the dark bodied forms that attempted to devour anything in their paths.
The Death priestess didn't even slow as she joined them. Instead her dark bladed scimitar came to her hand, and she slashed at the beasts, cleaving 4 in half, and watched as they disappaited into nothingness.
Though where some fell, more appeared to take their place. The horsemen and women weren't overwhelmed yet, but if more didn't arrive soon, they would be...

Shikoba dove in with a strong flap of his wings, demolishing six of the creatures as he swooped and landed. Did he look like he had his metaphoric feathers ruffled? Oh yes he did. Shadow creatures attacking his home wasn't exactly what he liked on a day to day basis, but...Oh, the fighting! The relishing sound of blade cutting through - whatever they were made of. Darkness? How quaint.
"Nergui." He gave the death priestess a small nod, though it had been a while since he had seen her. Last they'd met, she had...crept up on him. In the tree. Good times.

When she arrived, it was with a grand sweep of wings that leveled her out from the hasty dive she had taken to get her their more quickly. She then let herself alight upon the ground, blade flashing in her hand and golden eyes glinting with a need, a thirst, for what she was sure was an upcoming battle.
"Starting the party without me?" She smirked, though she sounded and looked tired, her words and the look she shot at those gathered losing their usual edge.
Taking a few steps forward, she brushed against Shik with an extended wing in greeting, before throwing her dagger at one of the figures and watching it dissipate easily beneath her blade.
She looked a little disappointed that it was just that easy, though she gave herself some amount of cheering up when she told herself how many more there were to cut down yet.

Shik flashed a grin at Shaheen as she made her entrance. "Too many guests to deal with to wait," he answered with a brush of wings in return. "Of course, there's plenty of them to work through, in case you were going to call me out on taking them all." The shadows indeed seemed to undulate before them as they massed.
"Now I would make a wager with you on who could kill the most, but -" The executioner lunged forward and, with the glint of his dagger summoned, began to claw through the masses with both nail and metal, even as many in turn dug their dark claws into him. Show off.
He did, however, poke his head up from the throng as he leapt back, panting and looking like he had just been given the greatest gift ever (to destroy things wantonly). "Fai, correct? I might need some of those heals in a moment . . ." It really said somethign to hsi good humor that he was allowing himself to accept the fact that he wasn't invincible. Shocker.

Tseng beamed at Shikoba before letting out a sort of laugh.
"Fine, fine. I will share this glory," he said to the War horseman. It didn't take too long before others had rallied to this point to defend their home. And thankfully, it seemed that at least one of them was capable of healing.
He would like to think he wouldn't be needing such things, but it couldn't hurt to have that around.
"CONQUEST'S NEEDLER!" he shouted as he rained arrows upon a mass of the shadowlings, managing to take out a hefty amount.

Shaheen for once let Shikoba run his mouth without any interruption, offering him brief glance and a wan smile. She might have made a comment about how she had no need to worry that he would take them all, since that would require him actually hitting them first. Or she might have mentioned that she would not be much of a leader if she didn't let her underlings have a little bit of glory now and again.
But no, she kept her silence, her dagger flashing back in her hand and receiving a casual inspection. No blood, no stains of black. Her brows furrowed slightly, and then she looked back up only to see Shik throw himself headlong into the fray, and simply rolled her eyes at his showboating, though she was quick to leap forward and start slashing left and right at a few of the creatures as well as he emerged, hopefully giving him a clear path to retreat to, with a muttered, yet somehow fond sounding "Idiot." directed at him as he passed.
Moving back herself, she managed to avoid most of the claws that swiped towards her, though a few nicked against her legs. At his mention of heals already towards Fai, she piped up. "Maybe you need to take a little break and leave the fighting to me. Go and rest over there." She gestured somewhere behind her vaguely.
Okay so maybe she could still get her jabs in.

But Shaheen was feeling generous today, and she laughed off her earlier retort. "Get back out there. I have you covered. You too, shouty." She offered the latter towards Tseng, and nodded towards the seething black mass, stepping in front of them and readying herself with blade in hand.
She could watch Shik's a** all day.
