I really like that commercial, but... amazon died for me, after that contract worker thing they pulled off I refuse to buy any of their products.

Aww... seeing that makes me happy. It's about time that advertisements include people from all walks of life and not just the normal hetero couple.

Yea, but it almost seemed like it was meant as a joke. Which would, in fact, be a bit on the offensive side.

I didn't see any jokes or stereotypes in the commerical, just that the guy said he had a husband too (unless I am really missing something here).
Just seems like two people on vacation, discussing problems with some tablets/e-books (as many people bring tablets when on vacation). They seem to trying to include people from all walks of life in order to sell more of their products. I already have a kindle fire as Amazon is really the only option I have due to lack of stores (I just use gift cards). Seems like a step in the right direction.

Xx_LunaJade_xX Yea, but it almost seemed like it was meant as a joke. Which would, in fact, be a bit on the offensive side. i think its meant to catch the viewer off gaurd since in another commercial it was pretty much the same situation but the man was hitting on the woman, but thats not really a joke, its just a different ending, at worst it may just be there for a little bit of shock value plus i feel that the more "gay stuff" that gets put on tv and in other ads for popular products the less lgb people/issues will seem like this weird and unatural thing. so even if it is for a tiny bit of shock value im fine with it so long as the person being gay isnt the butt of the joke

Yes, I admit that I have seen worse, more offensive advertisements and such. But calling the commercial "pro-gay" might be stretching the truth a bit. From what I know, Amazon has had a pretty good track record on LGBT stuff for a while, so this isn't exactly surprising, although it's always nice to see.
I didn't get it as a joke - maybe a little bit of shock value, but I think it serves to point out that we as a society make way too many heteronormative assumptions, which is a pretty pro-gay thing to say. Sure, some bigots might take it the wrong way, but who are we kidding, those are the kind of people who wouldn't buy products with pro-gay commercials even if they did think it was a joke. So from a marketing perspective, Amazon is putting themselves on the line that more people would appreciate the inclusivity than boycott for it, and I think that illustrates a very positive step in the conversation.
In addition, I agree with other posters that just normalizing the possibility that not everyone is straight or in a hetero relationship is a good step. And so overall, I think this is a positive message more than anything else.

Im more arguing that the ad wasnt necessarily "pro-gay" im not saying that it wasnt, but saying it was is jumping to conclusions. Again, I havent done any research, only have seen the ad, so I do not know if kindle specifically states that it was pro-gay, but the ad could be taken in a humerous sense, which some would, in fact, take offensively Lady Kayura Xx_LunaJade_xX Yea, but it almost seemed like it was meant as a joke. It is meant to be humorous in that you think the man is hitting on the woman when he's not. But it isn't mocking either couple or relationship.
I don't get what research needs done since you've seen it. It is an advertisement, not some work of literature that can be interpreted 800 ways. o_O I guess you could see if Amazon has done anything else to support gay rights (and they have and that's been established already).
Your comment about it being a joke is confusing to me because I've not seen anyone LGBT (or straight allies) that were offended by the ad but happy to see it.
