Personality: Never. Turns. Down. A. Challenge. Seriously, he will always, always fight. Even if it's perfectly clear that he will lose. In fact, he will especially fight then, and harder too.
But he's pretty friendly. He's very loud and vocal. He seems pretty incapable of doing anything, right up to and including opening doors, without making a racket. He's got a bit of a short attention span; if nothing interesting is happening, he'll wander off. Just thank your lucky stars that he doesn't try to make things interesting.
He is not at home with the upper class. He secretly suspects that they're all judging him and he judges them for it. (Hypocrite? You bet). He's very uncomfortable with any situation that involves fancy clothes; a fancy ball would be his worst nightmare.
Most likely found: In Palisade. Generally in the lower class districts. He lives in an inn somewhere around there, paying for his stay with music.

Personality: ohgod why are you in Cordel's personal space. That is a bad space to be. You know the archetypal crotchety and cantankerous Healer? That's Cordel. He's grumpy, grouchy, and will fix you up while lecturing about how stupid you are for doing that thing you just did. There MIGHT be a core of niceness through all that grump, but who's really going to take the time to find it?
He likes a drink. He likes another drink. And he'd probably like a third drink to keep the first two company. Hell if I know what sort of drunk he is, but it's probably not a particularly cuddly one. Probably.

Hopelessly enthusiastic about everything. Seriously, this man could go, "8D!! BRILLIANT!" at slime molds. Mixed in with a nearly insatiable sense of curiosity and... well, that's basically him. He's an extroverted social man; if left on his own, he tends to get angsty and depressed. Don't let that happen, please? :<
He's a bit of a polymath, basically. Sciences are his one true love. It doesn't matter what kind of science. Chances are, he's dabbled with it. History and engineering are his particular favorites. If you stand still long enough, he'll probably start chatting at you. He has no indoor voice when he's excited about something, which is often.
He also regards rules as 'polite suggestions'. Technically, he's probably part of the upper class, but he doesn't seem to realize it. He's too busy wandering about the world and gushing over how brilliant it all is.

First of all, Rani is LOUD. Like most Guardians, she can't talk. This doesn't mean she can't communicate. With her short temper, it doesn't take much...
She's highly protective, if she thinks something needs protecting. Small children, fawns, and, yes, even idiots are under her proverbial wings. Sure, she may give them a tongue lashing for being fools, but she'll try to save them. She's generally the reasonable one of the John and Rani pair, as terrifying as that is to contemplate. At least she's more aware of the world, while John is off occupying somewhere else entirely.

Astrologer character idea
-Believer in the Old Ways, but has recently encountered science! Has decided to try and get science and the Old Ways to play nice. Astrology is the result of this.

The Ascended: New birth. Mysterious and alluring individuals who strive frequently to improve themselves in some fashion. They frequently close themselves off to new friendships; their love is hard to earn but, once it's there, you have it for life. Unfortunately, their tendency to close themselves off has given them a reputation for being aloof and thinking that they are better than everyone else.
The Consorts: Passion. Also known as the Lovers. Give freely and frequently. Compared to other signs, Consorts are like open books. Unlike the mysterious Ascended, Consorts tend to be very open. The Fairy: Otherworldly. Those born under the sign of the Fairy have a reputation for being just a bit... off. They are the quirky ones of this world. They are independent, outgoing, and assertive, but also surprisingly trusting. Some would consider them downright naive.
The Blacksmith: Creativity. Blacksmith are extremely driven people. They aren't simply driven to be. They are driven to create something. They make wonderful writers, artists, and engineers. They contain a fiery passion not found in others. Often times, they become experts in just one area and will find themselves baffled and lost when forced into new territory.
The Dolphin: Leaders. The Dolphin has a reputation for being a leader. It doesn't matter in what: a new sport, new style, new anything. They are the trendsetters. They don't simply march to the beat of a different drummer. They make up their own music along the way. Like the Consort, they desire to be around other people. They have trouble not being the center of attention.
The Horse: Love. The Horse is frequently a contradiction. While capable of deep love and caring towards its friends and family, they are prone to making cutting and jealous remarks about anyone they don't like. They are herd creatures at heart. Like the Dolphin, they need to be around others. Unlike the Dolphin, they don't need to be the center of attention. Being around those that they love is generally enough.
The Kingshawk: Freedom. The Kingshawk absolutely chafes at any lack of freedom. If confronted with a sign that says, 'Do not fall into this deep pit', the Kingshawk will immediately lean over to see just how deep it is. They are known for a fiercely proud independence. While not loners by any means, they are not afraid to strike out on their own. They have trouble making long-term friends because of this.
The Hunter: Ambition. The Hunter possesses a sense of adventure and a natural exuberance as well as a love of life. They aim their sights at whatever they want----a specific job, money, a lover----and will put everything they have towards achieving that goal. They believe anything is possible. Because of this belief system, they are adept at finding their own paths. On the other hand, they can be considered trite or unrealistic. They have trouble settling down in one place.
The Dreamer: Balance. The Dreamer is a peace-keeper. When other signs flare up and fight, it comes down to the Dreamer to broker peace. They have the gift of understanding those beyond themselves. They have a tendency to give too much of themselves away and are easily taken advantage of by others. Like the Fairy, they are trusting and loving. In a relationship, they will give everything to their partner.
