i smoke, not to get, stoned, but to help myself. i have scolioosis, and a tolerance to pain medications, and found out that weed helps my back pain. it also lowers my anxiety levels. also, i haven't gotten "stoned" in years because my tolerance is so high and the weed around here is so shitty... but if i don't smoke for a little while, my back pain is horrible.
i wish i lived in cali so i could get medical weed.

I have used it for medical reasons but never had it prescribed to me as it is not legal in my state yet.
When I first started it was purely for that I would hit a pipe a few times at night so I could fall asleep, and then I grew to like how it made me see things differently and just generally feel better so I started smoking more often.
These days I still smoke for fun as well but I do still use it to help me, I can barely eat without it because of the pain in my mouth sometimes call me crazy but it helps a ton and it's a lot safer than eating to many vicodin. xp

According to my doctor's note, yes. I use it for medical reasons.
*shrug* That the reasons themselves are excuses is beside the point, really... I don't really sit around and smoke pot; when I smoke, it's for a purpose. Usually, it's because however it's happened, my anxiety's built up to where I really need to forcibly re-direct my attention and mindset, and smoking a bowl does the trick. A little hard to sum that up in a couple words of diagnosis on a recommendation, though. Also helps with the sleeping, for that matter. xd
Remember, you can check the marijuana laws, state-by-state, here. Not just that, but you can sign up to receive the action alerts, to let you know, for example, if and when a new bill to decriminalize or legalize marijuana is introduced in your state's legislature -- and it will usually include handy links and other resources so you can contact your representative and encourage them to vote one way or the other, things like that. V. handy. wink
Alyssa Autopsy 2 i wish i lived in cali so i could get medical weed.

The fun part is that a full-blown anxiety attack literally feels like a heart attack. Or, I should say, shares enough symptoms that it makes a person question whether they're having a heart attack (since I can't actually compare, not having experienced the both). Which doesn't help the anxiety levels. Best thing to do is break the cycle as soon as it starts. Prescription for anxiety disorder is Xanax, which comes with its own host of issues, aside from needing to see a specialist for anything approaching a long-term treatment option... yeah. What with the cost of health care, it's no wonder marijuana's a solution for so many ailments anymore.
And yes -- that was Prop 215, back in... either '94 or '96, can't remember which. First state to pass it. And so, since we're seen as leading the pack, here is where the DEA's been trying to squash it. It worked a few years ago, too -- Prop 19, which would have allowed adults over 21 to use, possess, and cultivate small amounts of cannabis, failed by an awfully thin margin. It's been nothing but scare tactics and innuendo for the last... oh, six or seven years. Police will raid dispensaries, holding people at gunpoint, regardless of age or infirmity, and "confiscate" all the money and product that's there. And the funny thing is, no report's ever filed. That, at least, has started to change. Reports are at least getting filed, but it's still little more than strong-arm robberies and terrorism. The only good thing, I have to say, is that while the bastards are busy suppressing the movement here in California, the rest of you have the wherewithall to get your own states on the green list. Don't worry, we've got the means to keep them busy here for a loooong time. xD

yeah i know, i had a full-blown panic attack once. i ended up in the hospital because i had chest pains and my arm was tingling... my dad was terrified that i actually WAS having a heart attack, because he tried to monitor my pulse, but he couldn't because it was so fast. that's terrible. seriosuly, what is wrong with weed? it SO much less dangerous than alcohol, yet that's legal =/ like all these damn girls doing the cut4bieber just cuz he smokoed a joint... saying "please stop injecting the marijauanas" and stuff. i also had an argument with someone on my facebook. they said that weed "is the most addict9ive and dangerous drug there is" rolleyes after he called me a loser even though i explained i used it medicinally,m i got pissed and blocked him.

Now I won't even lie about it I DO smoke to get high but it helps almost every problem I have and my life is better for having it. I was actually seriously considering Washington or Colorado for a long time, but the first step has already been made, it is legal in a state, others will follow.

Since I'm in a job that randomly drug tests and thc has yet to be decriminalized here in my state, I don't smoke nearly as often as I once did. There are times I -do- feel like I need it to sleep or just to decompress intolerable stress levels. It helps me to feel more relaxed and social, which is why I liked it to begin with. -shrug- I'm sure other states will prescribe mj for medicinal reasons, since there is more available evidence to support the benefits of it. I'll provide some interesting links...next post later tonight, since my time is up at the library.

i miss smoking to get high, but my tolerance is so high that i no longer even get stoned, even if i smoke a full gram in an hour. i just smoke a couple puffs here and there throughout the day. it helps my back pain sooooo much. this whole past week i had nothing and my back was hurting, but i finally got some yesterday and now i feel much better ^^

Copying this from facebook because I'm lazy and have too many windows open:
"So, there are numerous benefits from these essential fatty acids that help modulate. We can change our biological chemistry by our nutritional intake, but going beyond that is the only certain limitations as to how much you can vary our Endo-Cannabinoid activity from a nutritional point of view. So, that - for many people - the whole huge spectrum of illnesses ... they all have free-radicals ... and Cannabinoids, be they they ones we make or the ones we can take in benefit those! So, it's now my proposition that in order to reset the thermostat: to lower the damage caused by - essentially, a degree of unnecessary inflammatory responses, we have to essentially consume Cannabis; with Cannabis being, now - from my perspective, an essential nutrient by virtue of how it will turn down inflammatory responses and inhibit the aging process and the negative consequences of age-related illnesses. Nobody dies from being old - they die from age-related illnesses. Very safe and effective medicine that's able to uniquely tap into our Endo-Cannabinoid System which interestingly and ironically regulates everything in our body." — Dr. Robert Melamede "We are flow dependent structures. If we're not eating, breathing, getting rid of our wastes, we cease to exist as a flow dependent structure: we undergo a shift change to a more random state - we commonly call that death. So, in contrast to conventional pharmaceuticals, extracts of Cannabis Sativa plant contain over 100 biologically active compounds: terpenoids, flavanoids, cannabinoids - all of these things; and many of these things have many important biological modulatory properties. So, you're not tweaking one thread of a 4 dimensional system, the fourth dimension being time, right - because we're flow dependent. So, instead of pulling one thread in a system that's designed to compensate for change, the Endo-Cannabinoid System has the opportunity to impact on that three dimensional fibers that are modified through time as we go through time and embrace the changes of time. Life in general, has emerged from the flowing energy that intrinsically organized mass. . . "We are actually the children of the arrow of time, of evolution - not as progenitors" The End of Certainty By Ilya Prigogine Life is a negentropic web - negentropic means information - negative entropy as opposed to entropy - is disorder. A negentropic web of flowing energy and mass with fractal properties that create scales of complexity measured by relative distances from equilibrium. In other words, if we as living systems are charged up appropriately, we are further from equilibrium. Aging is the process by which we accumulate biological friction and move closer to equilibrium. Of course, our little illnesses are little non-linear jumps when we are sick and hopefully we recover - but ultimately we are all on on that slide back to equilibrium. Back to the phase change of death. So, in order to understand more fully and appreciate the vast potential the Cannabis based medicines to positively impact Human health and understanding, the physical basis of life must be considered. The all-pervasive Endo-Cannabinoid System is the unique manifestation of evolution, driven by the basic principles of far-from-equilibrium Thermo-dynamics. Flowing energy organizes matter and this results in oscillatory behavior. What happens when you have these non-linear changes - giving us life, giving us forms of differentiation, learning e.t.c - there's always a balance of opposing forces and the Endo-Cannabinoid system is increasingly intrinsical in an all pervasive manner, creating all of these balances. We are basically bio-electric machines, where the reduced hydro-carbons and fats and things that we eat are ultimately broken down into C02 and water via a series of enzymatic reactions. In other words, life is not a violation of the second law of Thermo-dynamics - that disorder & entropy must increase, but rather is consistent with us: because the structures that I'm talking about, be it us or chemical example - what they really are doing is generating more entropy to the universe by them being there. So, in other words systems - collections of molecules - get smarter, more organized, negotropic; as long as they can make the Universe stupider quicker: more entropy. Conventional pharmaceuticals attempt to shift the system to a state of health by manipulating a single fiber - but you're trying to kill Cancer cells that are your own cells - we have many other cells that have similiar and related properties, so this "Magic Bullet" approach - again - is flawed. Cures for illnesses other than infections are rare. The Tree of life is the Cannabinoid plant. The Endo-Cannabinoid system is uniquely suited to holistically modify the multi-dimensional interacting limit cycles that determine a systems health at any instance as well as how it evolves over time." Dr. Robert Melamede, POT Conference 2012

3/4 of the people in my family smoke and use Marijuana for medical reasons. I myself have a massive weight issue that it helps, as well as chronic pains from everyday bullshit, and my arthritis. Aside from those couple of things, it helps me manage my social anxiety because I freak out when I leave my house, I get nervous and claustrophobic, and it changes my whole putlook and kind of opens up my shell.

I smoke weed medically. I'm schizophrenic and i have tried pills and they were just horrible. They ended up giving me seizures when I stopped taking them.
Weed has a compound in it called Cannabidiol, and it works as an anti psychotic. It has been found to be as effective for the treatment of Schizophrenia as anti psychotic medications.
