Breeding Information & Guidelines Breeding?! Oh yes, it's true - Citizens and graduates of Amityville Academy can now reproduce. There are two different methods of spawning: the classic Pumpkin Patch method, and the mad-scientist Creation method. You can read more about these ways of reproducing below; each one is different and has different results! You can choose which would be most suitable for your character. All breeding, regardless of method, has a cost. In order to reproduce or create, the parent character(s) must have built up a certain number of RP points, which they will then cash in for the right to have children. This point cost can be split up between the participating characters however you'd like. Single spawn: 50 RP points Twins: 100 RP points Triplets: 150 RP points Note that twins, triplets above indicates simultaneous births. If you want your character to have three kids but don't want them all at once, you can space them out! But if you want triplets born at the same time, you better be ready to pony up 150 RP points all at once. After your character has reproduced, there is a three-month cooldown before they can breed again. Also, please note that children are not provided artwork by TiH. (You can commission art for them yourself, though!) All child characters, regardless of how they came into the world, start out with a unique set of stats: 15 HP, a weaker version of a natural ability, and no FEAR ability. These stats will last until you as the player feel they've matured to the point where they would be able to enter Amityville or another advanced school. Please note that all breeding requests must be approved prior to breeding/creation and the child character(s) coming into play. See below for more information and the form you'll need to fill out to breed!

Breeding Method: The Pumpkin Patch The most common method of reproduction in Halloween Town is the pumpkin patch. In order to breed using this method, 1-4 characters will go to the pumpkin patch and concentrate their FEAR into a pumpkin (or into 2-3 pumpkins if twins or triplets are desired). This pumpkin then acts as a sort of incubator or egg, growing the child's FEAR within it until the child emerges! For more information, check out The Little Scareling Primer. The resulting child takes on the faction/race of ONE of the parents. Just as with quests or Citizens, no hybrid children are allowed! For example, if a werewolf and a mermaid had a child, the child would be either a werewolf or a mermaid, not a weremermaid. SMALL attributes can pass down from parent to child, things like colors, hair type, facial features, small horns, small scale patches, etc - but not major attributes like wings, tails, fins, tentacles, and so on. Again, using the example above, a werewolf/mermaid breeding could produce a werewolf pup with watery coloring and a shimmer to its fur, or a mermaid with small claws and slightly pointy ears. Small things. In the end it should still be obvious what their faction/race is. To sum up: - Children are formed by melding the parents' FEAR - Children are created by 1-4 parents - Resulting children are NOT hybrids but take their species/race from ONE of the parents - Small attributes can pass down from parent to child, but NOT large ones.

Breeding Method: Creation Some people want something a bit different out of their 'children'... say, something more customized, or something more raised from the dead. For those characters, we have the method of Creation. Creation is the act of calling life into a pre-existing body - for example, creating a patchwork like Frankenstein's monster. Or using necromancy to raise up a zombie or ghost from the dead. Or using magic to create a golem. There are lots of possibilities. However, Creation is also limited in that your character needs to have training and a plot in order to 'reproduce' in this way. A character who has never studied necromancy will not be able to raise up a zombie or ghost, for example. You will need a specific reason to reproduce using this method, and have a plot ready to back up your ideas. The resulting child... well, what that child actually is depends heavily on your plot. For now, let's say only certain types of Undead, Ghosts, and Monsters can be created using this method. Again, they cannot be hybrids, and they will not inherit any attributes from their creators/parents. They also do NOT have any memories of their past if they were raised - see Life and Death in Halloween for more information. Children in this case do not literally HAVE to be children/babies, but they are very weak and disoriented and need to learn things from scratch. So. As far as methods of reproduction go, the Pumpkin Patch is definitely easier, but there can be excellent plot rewards for those who wish to try their hand at Creation! To sum up: - Child is created/raised/other method of coming into being that does not involve mingling FEAR. - Can be a single parent, or a group working in concert. - Must be backed up with a good plot proposal that makes sense for the characters involved. - Results in Undead/Ghosts/Monsters of certain types only.

Breeding FAQ Sooo... no pregnancy, then?Nope! Just pumpkins. No pregnancy, no eggs, no chestbursters, no cocoons, etc. Just pumpkins. The mingling of FEAR is not a physical/sexual act. Is it possible to accidentally reproduce? No. Both putting FEAR into pumpkins and Creation have to be intentional - otherwise, it simply will not work. You can try and be delighted that it works, but there's not going to be any getting drunk, going go the pumpkin patch, and accidentally slopping FEAR everywhere until SURPRISE BABY. Do the parents have to be male and female?Nope! Again, mingling FEAR is not a sexual act, and sex/gender is completely irrelevant. You can also have up to 4 parents mingle their FEAR together, so you don't even have to have only two beings if you'd like to reproduce with more! Can my character use the pumpkin patch alone and get a child? They can go alone, but must contribute all the FEAR needed to create a baby, which means you cover the needed RP points yourself. Can my child character go to Amityville as an official student?Yes, but you have to get a slot for that character via customs, bribes, etc. just as you would for any other quest. If you don't want to deal with that, though, you can say your child goes to a different school - not as good as Amityville, and won't result in as good natural abilities and bonuses, but it's also free! So. Let's say I RP enough to get two offspring. Can I give one of these offspring to a friend to RP?You may, so long as that friend also meets the requirements. That is, they must already have an enrolled character that is Y2 or higher. If they do not have a character, then sorry! They are not eligible to RP here unfortunately.
